Remove the foot shifter lever (A) and shifter peg (D). Discard the old foot shifter lever (A). Save the foot shifter lever hardware and shifter peg (D) for future use. 6. See Figure 2. Remove the primary chaincase cover (6) and primary chaincase housing (1). Refer to your model motorcycles Service Manual for removal procedures. NOTE See Figure 1. Before removing the gear shifter lever (1) ((H) in Table 1), it is necessary to mark the correct orientation of the lever. Using a marking tool, draw a location marking (4) on the end of the splined shaft (2) across from the casting split (3). This will allow the new gear shifter lever to be installed in the same orientation as the old lever. 5 3 4 1 2 is 02083 1. Gear shifter lever 2. Splined shaft 3. Casting split 4. Location marking 5. This is normally grey in colour, and the wires are coloured red, white and black. This connector connects the rear wheel sensor to the electronic speedo head. OEM Connector b) The table below shows the function of each wire Colour Function Red +ve volts White Signal to Speedo Black GND Green Signal from Rear Pickup The +ve volts red wire should be between 8 and 12 volts, typically it is only 8 volts which is on the limit of the Speedohealer range and it is necessary to source an alternative 12 volts supply e.g. from the fuse box. I used a feed from the accessory supply which is an Orange/White wire (You need a switched +12V so don’t use the battery positive terminal.) c) Tap into the wires from the rear wheel pick and solder the Speedo healer ensuring to use the provided heat shrink cable to cover the finished work. Wiring loom Note the red wire is not used from the connector. The green wire is the feed from the rear wheel sensor which is connected to the input wire (white or yellow) of the Speedohealer. The output of the Speedohealer which is the blue wire is connected to the white wire which goes to the Harley speedo. d) Get the power from the fuse box Alternative 12 volt from fuse box Alternative 12 volt from fuse box closeup e) A suitable location for the Speedohealer is on the side of the battery box. It can be fixed by using a cable tie. Fitted to battery box f) Finally this is the OEM electronic speedo (as seen from the front and rear) and the rear wheel pickup

1. Mount new Baron Tach on handlebar in your preferred position. Ideal location is between handlebar risers. If mounted off-center, you can rotate tach face back to vertical (or any position you desire) by first loosening tach unit’s set screw (found either in handlebar area of housing or underside of housing, depending on tach style), then unscrewing tach housing’s bezel, rotating the tach internals, re-installing the bezel and retightening the set screw. 2. Secure handlebar clamp by first tightening the rear, flat side of clamp all the way down, and then tighten the tapered front side of clamp until tach does not rotate. There should be a small gap on the pointed side and no gap on the flat side when the clamp is correctly tightened. 3. Route tach’s wire harness lead under dash for simplest and cleanest installation. 4. Make your wire connections as follows: a. Locate the pink wire under the speedo (sometimes has a plastic bullet end on it). Cut the plastic off and splice the pink wire with the green wire from the tachometer. b. Find the orange wire and attach the tach power wires to it (usually blue & red from tach (incandescent) or red & yellow for single color LED tachs. On 7-color LED models it is red from tach and red from LED controller box) . c. Locate a suitable ground (usually a bare frame bolt) and attach the black wires from the tachometer and the LED controller box (if equipped).

1. Turn Harley Davidson thumb screw control all the way off. 2. Remove screw (A) from the motorcycle throttle housing. Position the mounting bracket, as shown in drawing. Replace throttle housing screw through the hole in the foot of the mounting bracket and into the throttle housing. Loosely tighten screw. 3. Slide the cruise control’s slip ring assembly over the end of the throttle grip up to the switch housing. NOTE: Metal band on slip ring assembly is next to switch housing not set screws. Insert correct size rubber filler between slip ring assembly and grip with “joint” of filler on bottom side, midway between two set screws. Tighten all set screws into rubber filler until tight or flush. 4. Place thumb lever slot over eye bolt. Depress spring to line up holes, and insert socket head screw. 5. Insert thumb lever screw into the hole in the head of mounting bracket that keep screw parallel to grip. Install the washer then the locknut on the thumb lever screw. Tighten locknut until mounting bracket and thumb lever are snug BUT loose enough to let thumb lever move freely up and down. 6. Secularly tighten the throttle housing screw (A) in step 1. 7. Twist throttle back and forth to insure there is no binding, slip ring is “SQUARE” with switch housing and thumb lever operates smoothly between “ON” and “OFF”. 8. CRUISE CONTROL ADJUSTMENTS – Twist throttle to half position and push thumb lever down to “SET” position. Throttle should hold snugly in this position. Flipping thumb lever to “OFF” position, releases cruise control hold, throttle should return to “OFF” position. Tightening acorn nut (B) will increase cruise control hold. Loosening acorn nut will decrease cruise control hold. Always check to make sure that throttle can be rotated both ways in “SET” position after adjustments.

PICKUP PLATE INSTALLATION Remove the existing trigger/points plate and rotor, points cam and advance. Refer to the bike’s Service Manual for the proper procedure. EVOLUTION AND LATE MODEL SHOVELHEAD V-TWINS 1. From inside the cam/ignition housing, feed the free end of the MSD pickup harness through the wire access port. Note: The harness includes a heat-resistant acrylic sleeve that fits snugly inside the port opening. Do not pull the sleeve completely through the port. It must be positioned to protect the wires as they pass through the port opening. 2. Mount the MSD pickup plate inside the housing (Figure 1). Note the “adjusting notch” on the edge of the plate. This notch must be located over the series of “steps” inside the housing (about the 7 o’clock position as you face the housing). One of the sensor units will be at approximately 12 o’clock. SPORTSTER MODELS 1. On Sportsters, the wire access port must be enlarged. Use a 9/32″ drill bit to enlarge the wire port. 2. Remove the wire harness clamp of the pickup assembly and route the wires through the port. 3. Mount the MSD pickup plate inside the housing (Figure 2). Note the “adjusting notch on the edge of the plate. This notch must be located over the “cast notch” inside the housing (about the 11 o’clock position as you face the housing). The shorter of the two sensors will be approximately in the 9 o’clock position. 4. Install the hold-down/standoff screws with flat washers until they are snug – do not tighten at this time (Figure 3). 3. Put the MSD rotor in place on the end of the camshaft. The locating pin in the rotor bore must align with the groove in the cam. Do not force the rotor on the camshaft! Push the rotor into place until it is tightly against the end of the cam then snug the retaining screw. 4. Check the distance from the outer surface of the pickup plate to the end of the installed rotor (Figure 4). If necessary, add shims until the measured rotor height is 9/16″ (+/- 1/32″). 5. When the rotor height has been verified, remove the retaining screw, place a drop of Red Loctite on the threads and reinstall the screw to the factory recommended torque
