1. First you must adjust the idle. It is acceptable per the manual to adjust the idle by using the idle adjust screws (11). This usually involves screwing them then backing out 1 to 1.5 turns. Or you can adjust looking at the sliders 2. If installing the carburetors: a. Remove the cover (2) b. Reomve the slider (3) c. Place the throttle cable through the guide (18) with the spring (4) on the cable. d. Route the cable through the slide catch (6) e. Insert the slide assembly into the chamber and make sure it easily slides up and down. Direct the needle (8) into the opening of the diffuser (angled side visible). f. Screw assembly together and verify via throttle movement that slide moves freely. Attach fuel delivery lines to (12). 3. Using the idle set screw (11) raise the slider so the lower edge is 1-2 mm. 4. Assemble to engine using the proper gaskets (paper – felt – paper). 5. Using the locknut (26) adjust the free play of the throttle cable (2-3 mm) 6. Adjust the idle mixture screw – turn in completely then out 1 to 1.5 turns 1. Remove one of the spark plug caps, and with the cap shorted, adjust (11) to decrease RPM’s to a point of being minimally steady. 2. Adjust the mixture (15) out until RPM’s decrease. Turn in until RPM’s increase slightly. Then turn in screws ¼ to 1/3 revoultion. 3. Do the same for the second carburetor with the first spark plug cap shorted. 4. With both cylinders, adjust each idle (11) on each carburetor the same amount each until it’s at a steady, minimal RPM. Use small changes. (at this point you can use your airflow tool to check). 5. Sharply increase, then decrease throttle. Then engine must return to low RPMs smoothly. If the engine goes below limits, readjust (11) from step 4. Synchronization of the K68 Note: Rather than using the opposite cylinder shorted to test the pull of the live cylinder carburetor, you can use something like a Twinmax connected to the test ports (27 Fig 1). Or, if you have a model without these ports, use a Synchrometer (Appendix 2) held against the face of the carburetor. These tools merely show airflow passing through each carburetor (which is dependent on the position and wear on the slide). If using these tools, it’s not necessary to do the following steps. You wil want to use a throttle guide (Appendix 1), to show airflow at various throttle settings. Using the flow meter of your choice make sure each carburetor is the same at the various throttle settings. 1. Place the motorcycle on the center stand ensuring the rear wheel is suspended 2. Make sure you have large area to work with (safety issues here) 3. Shift into the highest gear with the engine running 4. Short one spark plug cap to the cylinder (using a nail or something in the fins) 5. Increase the speed to 40-50 km/hr 6. Fix the throttle using the throttle (maybe using a throttle stop screw under the throttle housing). 7. Reconnect other cylinder and using the opposite carburetor determine the speed which should be the same as the first. 8. Adjust the position of this slide to achieve the referenced speed using the locknut at the top of the carburetor.

The Repair Manual provides information on setup, tune-ups, servicing, diagnosing problems, removing and installing components (otherwise referred to as “assembly units”), overhauling components, adjusting repaired components, and testing the repaired motorcycle. The increasing competition in the motorcycle market requires, more than ever, careful attending to the customer in order to assure the owner satisfaction with one’s motorcycle and to maintain customer confidence in the dealer and factory. It is important to repair the client’s vehicles correctly in a well organized and clean repair shop equipped with all necessary tools and parts. In such an environment, and having been trained at the technical training course, a repair technician will prove to be competent and efficient. Repairs on the engine and transmission especially, should be carried out in dust-free places. During breaks, disassembled transmissions and openings leading to the inner engine parts or lubrication holes should be protected from dust by clean rags. Valves, valve springs, spring retainers, rockers, pushrods, tappets, pistons, connecting rods and bearings should be put away in suitable boxes. Disassembled parts have to be cleaned and thoroughly checked for the following: Sliding and rolling surfaces for wear and freedom from scoring marks, all metal parts, particularly castings, tempered parts and welded joints as well for cracks and corrosion, and rubber parts for suitableness. As a rule, all gaskets and tab washers are to replaced upon reassembling. When disassembling parts, attention has to be paid to the arrangement of lock-washers on screws and nuts, spacing washers, gaskets, rubber mounts and so on. If necessary, mark mating parts in order to guarantee correct assembly.

Section 4: Installation on Motorcycle 4.1 Remove old system. 4.2 Install the ignition coil (135.3705.000) and ignition module base (135.3734.000) with wires positioned toward coil (lightly tighten ignition base screws) . 4.3 Install rotor on the camshaft; note washer positions (see installation figure for specifics) . 4.4 – Position engine at timing position (mark on Dnepr flywheel “P” or see your motorcycle operation manual for specifics however there is mention of “arrow with dot” – Ural? ) . – Position base so the scribed line on the rotor lines up with the center index on the base (index between +10 and -10 marks) . Tighten screws. – Loosen sensor screws and using a feeler gauge, adjust so the rotor and sensor gap equals 0.35 +/- 0.05 mm (note, other manuals mention 0.2 +/- 0.1 mm) . Tighten screws. – If the scribed line is not visible with the engine positioned for timing, rotate the engine 360 degrees (again at the timing position) . 4.5 Connect the wires (КЗ) and (+) from ignition module to the coil. Connect the high voltage leads to the coil. Connect the 12V lead from the switched 12V source to the coil (see installation figures for specifics) . 4.6 Gap sparkplugs 0.8 – 1.0 mm. 4.7 Test ride motorcycle and adjust if necessary; turn ignition module base CW to advance or CCW to retard timing

Front brake control lever (Fig.1, #5). When the lever is squeezed, the front wheel brake is actuated. The front brake should be used together with rear brake. When the brake lever is squeezed, the stop signal lamps are switched on. Kick lever (Fig.1, #11) is designed to start the engine. On pressing the lever the crankshaft of the engine is actuated through the gearbox. The lever is returned to its initial position by the spring inside the gearbox. Note: this is a backup to the electric starter. Gear shift foot pedal (Fig.1, #12) is a two-arm type. When the front arm is pressed, shifting from high to lower gears takes place. When the rear arm is pressed, shifting from low to higher gears takes place. Since the heel-toe shift lever is short-coupled, you will find it easier to shift up if you rotate the heel of your left foot in towards the rear arm before stepping on it with your heel. The neutral position is fixed between the I and II gears. Speedometer is on the dash board, with trip (Note..BC-75 has no trip odometer) and total odometer. The trip odometer is reset to zero by rotating push-button (Fig.1, # 3) counterclockwise. Note that the odometer reads in kilometers not miles. Ignition Switch (Fig.1, # 19) has three fixed positions of the key. The position and switching diagram of the ignition locks are shown above.

Throttle Control (Fig.1, # 6) is on the right handlebar. Turning the twist grip counterclockwise increases engine speed. Ignition Cutoff Switch (Fig.1, # 7) has two positions, ignition off (up), and ignition on (down). Low and High Beam Light Switch (Fig.1, # 15), turn indicator switch (Fig.1, #13) and horn push-button (Fig.1, # 14) are combined in one unit on the left-hand handle bar control housing. Master Battery Switch (Fig.1, # 21) is under the seat. Electric Start Button (Fig. 1, # 8) is located on the right-hand twist grip, below the kill switch. Low and high beam light switch (Fig.1, # 15), turn indicator switch (Fig.1, #13) and horn push-button (Fig.1, # 14) are combined in one unit on the left-hand handle bar control housing. Master battery switch (Fig.1, # 21) is under the seat. Electric Start Button (Fig. 1, # 8) is located on the right-hand twist grip, below the kill switch. The steering damper absorbs lateral kicks on the front wheel. Turning tightening bolt (Fig.1, # 17) clockwise increases friction. This can be used while riding over bad roads. WARNING: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE DAMPER TO THE POINT WHERE THE STEERING BECOMES STIFF . DOING SO WILL ADVERSELY AFFECT HANDLING QUALITIES . Parking brake (Fig. 1, # 22) is located on the right side of the motorcycle next to the foot peg. It is engaged by applying the foot brake pedal fully and turning the handle and pushing it down to hold the foot brake lever in the applied position.
