1. With the bike unloaded on the side stand and the shock fully extended, have an assistant measure from a point at the axle (center point) to a point on the frame, fender or bodywork directly above it. Record this measurement. 2. With the bike off the stand and the rider in the seat, bounce on the suspension and let the bike settle. Have the assistant measure from the same two points. Subtract the second measurement from the first. 3. The amount of settle, or “sag” is a function of the wheel travel. It should only be between 1/4 and 1/3 of the total travel. 4. If the difference is less than the minimum, reduce the spring preload. Measure the distance again starting with Step 2. Adjust again if necessary. 5. If the difference is more than the maximum, increase the spring preload. Measure the distance again starting with Step 2. Adjust again if necessary. Note: If the ride height is too low, the shock will bottom unnecessarily, resulting in a harsh ride. If the ride height is too high, the shock will “top out” too easily when rebounding from a bump or under hard deceleration. NITROGEN PRESSURES IN EMULSION SHOCKS CAUTION: The pressure in these shocks cannot successfully be checked. Concerns with the gauge volume and the gas volume in the shock body create a situation where you cannot accurately determine what pressure was in the shock. In addition when the pressure is lowered (i.e. checking the pressure) the gas and some of the shock oil escapes into the gauge. It is possible to lose a large percentage of the shock oil by depressing the core of a charged shock to the atmosphere. Please note that in order to check the pressure, some of the gas must escape and fill the gauge assembly. The volume of the gas pocket is about half the size of your thumb, so a very small volume change results in a large pressure drop. Because the gauges’ volumes vary, it is not possible to deduce the actual pressure in the shock prior to attaching the gauge. Therefore it is imperative that any attempt to check pressure be accompanied by the capability of refilling the shock. In other words: If you don’t have a nitrogen source handy, don’t check the pressure

he speed sensor is on the left side (looking from the back towards the front of the motorcycle). Just FYI, here is the speed sensor coming off of the drive shaft behind the left saddlebag. – 7/2 -The speed sensor connection for the Speedo Healer is behind this red cover. Take off the seat. There are two screws. One pointed out by the arrow and one on the opposite side. Also, remove the screw on the red cover. After removing the screw on the red cover, remove the cover by pulling it straight away from the bike. It is held on by 2 rubber grommets. – 7/3 -The arrow points to the speed sensor coupler. Pull the connection apart. There is a little tab holding the connector together that will need to be depressed in order to get it apart. – 7/4 -Hook the SH harness into the appropriate connectors. It only goes one way. The Yamaha plug and go kit works perfectly with no splicing required. Here is a close-up of the connection. – 7/5 -Run the cable up under the bar towards the battery and hook the wires up to the Speedo Healer unit. – 76 -The speedo healer fits nicely right behind the battery. You can barely see it next to the intercom. Note, none of the wires in this example have been secured yet. Put the red cover back on. Figure out the error that needs to be adjusted and make the adjustments to the Speed Healer per their instructions. Put the seat back on and you’re good to go. Be sure to verify that your adjustment was correct before believing your speedometer to be accurate. With the right adjustment, it will be, but don’t wait for a cop to tell you that you miscalculated! The electronic cruise control was not affected by the installation of this unit. I ended up setting mine to -7.5% after chasing my wife’s ’03 Vue for a couple of times. I ended up reading 59mph to her 60mph (previously it read 65mph to her 60mph) which is right where I wanted it since her speedometer reads a little fast, too. My back tire is about halfway worn. Your adjustment may vary

STEP 1 Remove the seat, fuel tank, and OEM air cleaner assembly. Disconnect the hoses connected to the air cleaner while leaving them connected to the motorcycle. Save the clamp that secures the air duct to the carburetor and the OEM fasteners used to secure the stock air cleaner assembly to the motorcycle as some will be reused. STEP 2 Remove the carburetor according to the section in your Road Star factory service manual that outlines procedures for carburetor removal, disassembly, reassembly and installation. Now is a good time to proceed with re-jetting the carburetor. We have supplied jets to cover many common configurations. For jet locations and jetting recommendations with various exhaust combinations see Addendum I. Since the OEM screws retaining the float bowl are easily damaged, we have included replacement M4 socket head cap screws to replace them, if necessary. STEP 3 Insert the rubber intake duct into the main support bracket as shown in PIC. 1. The rubber nipple should be pointing toward the longest leg of the bracket. STEP 4 Insert the rubber intake duct into the Pro R-series Hypercharger in the same fashion it was installed in the main support bracket. See PIC.2. You may need to use a screwdriver to help “poke” the flange of the Rubber Intake Boot into position inside the Pro R-series Hypercharger. STEP 5 Line up the three holes in the back plate of the Pro R-series Hypercharger and the three holes in the flange of the rubber intake duct with the three holes in the main support bracket. Insert the three supplied 1/4″-20 x 5/8″ socket head cap screws from inside the Pro R-series Hypercharger and secure on the back side of the main support bracket with the 1/4″-20 thin nylock nuts. You will need to pull back the inner flange of the rubber intake duct to access the holes. Hold the nylock nuts with a 7/16″ wrench as you tighten the socket head cap screws with a 3/16″ hex key. Be careful not to over tighten and cause the rubber intake duct to pucker around the nylock nuts. See PIC.3.

GASOLINE IS HIGHLY FLAMMA- BLE: Always turn the engine off when refueling. Take care not to spill any gasoline on the engine or exhaust system when refueling. Never refuel while smoking or in the vicinity of an open flame. Never start the engine or let it run for any length of time in a closed area. The exhaust fumes are poisonous and may cause loss of consciousness and death within a short time. Always operate your motorcycle in an area that has adequate ventilation. Always turn the engine off before leaving the motorcycle unattended and remove the key from the main switch. When parking the motorcycle, note the following: The engine and exhaust system may be hot, therefore, park the motorcycle in a place where pedestrians or children are not likely to touch these hot areas. Do not park the motorcycle on a slope or soft ground, otherwise it may fall over. Do not park the motorcycle near a flammable source, (e.g., a kerosene heater, or near an open flame), otherwise it could catch fire. When transporting the motorcycle in another vehicle, make sure that it is kept upright. If the motorcycle should lean over, gasoline may leak out of the fuel tank. If you should swallow any gasoline, inhale a lot of gasoline vapor, or allow gasoline to get into your eyes, see your doctor immediately. If any gasoline spills on your skin or clothing, immediately wash the affected area with soap and water and change your clothes

1. Remove seat, tank and shrouds. Remove existing hot start lever, cable and valve from the carburetor. 2. Tip: Clean all dirt from hot start bore and mating surfaces on the carburetor body with gas and a q-tip. 3. Tip: Use a small amount of Teflon tape (one wrap) on the threads of the aluminum mounting nut to ensure a water tight seal. 4. Install the Pro EFX hot start valve in the hot start bore (as shown in picture), with return spring, impact washer and delrin plunger in place. • Tip: Installation of the solenoid valve may require temporary rotation of the carburetor away from the top engine mount bracket. • Install with the solenoid valve assembly disconnected from wiring harness. • Screw in by hand and finish tightening with needle nose pliers. Do not over-tighten. Solenoid valve assembly: 5. Mount activation switch on preferred handle bar location. Pictured on clutch side, in place of the stock kill switch.
6. Route wiring harness around steering column and down frame backbone. Insert battery leads through slot in rubber protective boot. (follow existing wiring to battery) 7. Connect positive (red) and negative (black) leads to motorcycle battery. 8. Connect male and female terminals to wiring harness on previously installed solenoid valve assembly. 9. Depress activation button and listen for valve actuation. Plunger should freely “snap” between open and closed position in hot start bore, as activation button is depressed and released. If you don’t hear the valve “snap” open and closed, follow the trouble shooting guidelines or call /email for support. 10. Maintenance: Periodically ensure proper tightness of solenoid valve in carburetor body as part of standard motorcycle maintenance. Keep the battery terminal connections free from corrosion.

Receiver Hitch Installation y Install all bolts loosely until all brackets are in place y Remove any aftermarket accessories (saddle bags, back rests, etc) before hitch installation. After installation remount accessories. NOTE: Some aftermarket accessories may not be compatible with InstaTrike. 1) Place motorcycle on a firm level surface. 2) Remove saddle bags (if applicable) 4) Attach bracket G to underside of motorcycle frame with U-bolts provided. 5) Attach bracket C (left) and bracket D (right) to the two rear fender side attachment bolts between fender and chrome side rail. Use new bolts provided. ( reattach saddle bags now if applicable) 6) Attach bracket E (left) and bracket F (right) to the outside of the rear holes on brackets C and D . Bolt inserts from inside of brackets C and D . 7) Attach bottom of brackets E and F to rear plate on receiver hitch. 8) Attach rear of brackets A and B to TOP of forward arms on receiver hitch. 9) Attach front of brackets A and B to TOP of bracket G 10) Ensure hitch is square on motorcycle and tighten all bolts.
Installation Diagrams
Leveling stand screw jack installation 1) Thread right side screw jack into threaded area on bracket B sand adjust leveling jack bolt out. 2) Push motorcycle over from left side until right screw jack is touching floor. 3) Install left side screw jack on bracket A and adjust out until motorcycle will rest upright on both screw jacks. 4) Adjust screw jacks until motorcycle is level. CAUTION – Use screw jacks to hold motorcycle upright and level ONLY. Do not lift motorcycle with screw jacks. CAUTION – Use care when installing screw jacks. Be certain that motorcycle is always in a stable balanced position

1. Cover the right frame tube in front of the exhaust with duct tape or any suitable material to protect frame during exhaust removal. 2. Remove the three capscrews holding the muffl er assembly to the support bar, loosen the muffl er clamp and carefully remove the muffl er from the motorcycle. 3. Remove and save the two 12mm bolts from the right side fl oorboard assembly (Figure 1) and carefully lower the fl oorboard out of the way. NOTE: Support the fl oorboard with a block of wood or other appropriate material, do not let it “hang” by the brake switch wire. 4. Remove the chrome cover over the power valve pulley. Using a 10mm wrench, remove both cables attached to the power valve pulley (Figure 2). 5. Remove and save the 5mm capscrew on the rear side cover to gain access to the O2 sensor harness plug and unplug O2 sensor from harness (Figure 3). 6. Remove the 4 nuts holding the exhaust system and carefully remove the exhaust system from the motorcycle (may require assistance). NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen the heatshield clamps to access the nuts on the front cylinder. 7. Trace the power valve cables to the drive motor (just under the rear fender on the right side). Remove the power valve cables and mounting clips from the motorcycle. 8. Using a 22mm wrench, carefully remove the O2 sensor from stock exhaust system and save for reuse with the new system. 9. Remove the plastic cover over the clutch banjo bolt (Figure 4). 10. Check the stock exhaust gaskets to be sure they are in good shape. If you have any doubts as to their condition, replace them

Protect the rear portion of the front fender with a towel or other thick, soft cloth. Remove the OEM engine guards if they have been installed on the motorcycle. Your new Barons engine guard will fasten to the frame at the same points as the OEM guard and will use the same hardware. 2. Or, if OEM engine guards are not present, remove the 14mm bolts from the underside of the drivers footpeg mounts. 3. Remove the 12mm upper engine mount bolts located on both sides of the frame. Replacement bolts are included with your new engine guard. 4. Position the engine guard so that the lower brackets point towards the rear of the motorcycle, and slide the engine guard into the space between the front wheel and the frame. 5. Raise the guard until the holes in the lower mounting brackets align with the vacated bolt holes beneath the drivers footpegs. Due to production line tolerances in both the motorcycle and the engine guard, the mounting brackets may be too wide or too narrow for the frame. If this is the case, remove the guard from the motorcycle. Place the guard on a flat, firm surface. Insert a towel or other protective material between the guard and the surface. Using a rubber mallet or a block of wood and a hammer, tap the lower brackets until they are correctly spaced. 6. Insert the large washers (supplied with the guard) between the rear face of the lower bracket and the frame. The washer fills the space between the lower mounting bracket and the footpeg mount. Reinsert the 14mm bolts and finger tighten. 7. Rotate the guard until the holes in the upper mounting brackets align with the empty holes on each side of the frame. 8. Insert the replacement 13mm bolts, along with their washers, and tighten securely. Tighten all other nuts and bolts securely. 9. Remove the protection on the front fender and you’re ready to ride. CAUTION!!! You must re-tighten all four of the engine guard mounting bolts after 100 miles of riding! Care & Cleaning: Engine guards take the full brunt of the worst of what the weather in your area has to offer, making it critical that proper and complete cleaning take place on a weekly basis, or corrosion will occur which is not covered by warranty! Proper cleaning procedure would be to use a product like Simple Green, LOC, Salt-Away or similar. Mix a strong batch and apply it liberally with a soft towel or soft nylon brush to the entire
