The new R 1200 RT-P features a completely new LED emergency lighting concept developed by BMW and Code 3 PSE. The new system combines all currently desired emergency lighting into optimally focused compact LED light modules. These modules accommodate an additional 45 degree front LED module that blankets the front quadrants in emergency light. Together with an integrated wiring harness and programmable flash control module, the new system can provide any current flashing sequence / switching combination through settings on the programmable flasher. Example: If the motor will be used in California, program the flasher for steady-burn left front LED light, with no change in the LED light or the wiring. If the motor is sold or operated in a different venue later, change the program flasher for 49 state operation. The rear light module combines rear and side facing LED emergency lights, together with rear-facing brake/tail LED and side turn signal LED lights. Additional rear facing LED emergency lights can be installed and powered in conjunction with the rear facing lights, or controlled by photo- eye to disable the lights during the dark to reduce glare at night / low light situations. The programmable flasher can provide 12 flash patterns, with wiring splitting the motor between left and right side for alternating flash patterns. Light sequencing begins with rear, programmable rear and front side lights, as well as front and 45 degree front lights. A rear cancel switch allows riders to disable the rear lights while retaining the side and front lights – usually used for protective service details. The programmable flasher also provides for a primary and secondary flash pattern, so during code 3 operation, the emergency lights will display the primary pattern until the siren is activated, at which time the flasher changes to the alternative pattern for 7 seconds after each siren tone change. This feature known as InterClear provides a visual and audible alert to those nearby

Step 1 •Remove rider’s seat, strut covers, and passenger seat (if applicable) •Separate wiring harness connector for rear lights •Remove screws from each side of fender and plastic connectors from plastic inner fender •Carefully remove the fender by gentle prying outward and upward on one side to clear the mounting points, then the other side •Set aside on a flat and smooth surface to protect the fender’s finish Step 2 •Turn the rear fender assembly upside down on a stable and covered/protected surface to prevent damaging the fender/paint •Remove the metal piece that covers the rear wiring harness area (10mm socket) and unscrew the wire junction box (5mm Allen wrench) •Disconnect the turn signals from the stock wiring harness and unscrew the Allen bolts holding them in place (5mm Allen) •Enlarge the center mounting hole in the inner fender of the turn signal mounting location with a 3/8ths metal drill bit (see picture below). Be extremely careful to drill slowly and make sure to avoid contact with the sides of the fender! Ensure that the surface area where the holes have been made are smooth. This will allow for a flush fit with the turn signal mounting blocks. If not, use a small file or other suitable tool to fix it. Don’t be concerned if your new hole extends into the other holes. Step 3 •Prior to installing the silver bullets, choose which style bezel you prefer, visor or visor-less. Both styles are included with amber LEDs only. Red LED silver bullets come standard with visor-less bezels, however visored bezels can be purchased separately. •Place the fender upright on a protected and secure surface. Insert the mounting blocks into place flush with the surface of the fender. They will only fit one way and are not interchangeable. Place a small amount of loc-tite on the threads of the hollow bolt. Hold the silver bullet LED light in place on the mounting block and thread the wire through the holes, and hand tighten the hollow bolt from the inside of the fender. Once a proper alignment of the lights has been achieved, tighten them securely with a 9/16ths box end wrench. Step 4 •Run the wiring of the turn signals in an appropriate/desireable path to the stock wiring harness. Once the wires are run, cut any excess wire and install the bullet connectors (included) to the end of the wires as noted in the wiring advisory and continue with wiring as follows: 1. Silver bullet right rear PURPLE to stock wire BLUE with RED stripe 2. Silver bullet right rear BLACK to stock wire BLACK 3. Silver bullet left rear PURPLE to stock wire BLUE 4. Silver bullet left rear BLACK to stock wire BLACK Make sure that the connectors are firmly snapped in place and are covered with the stock rubber connector. Ensure that the preexisting dielectric grease isn’t completely wiped off/removed, it will ensure conductivity and corrosion resistance. Please note that the amber LED silver bullets are dual intensity, while the stock system is single intensity (turn signal only). If you wish to wire your silver bullets to also function as running lights, the blue wire from each silver bullet must be wired to a “constant-on”/power wire, such as the stock purple wire that connects to the license plate assembly. If you do not wish to wire your turn signals for dual intensity then the blue wires should be tied off

1. Locate the stock flasher unit on your motorcycle and remove it. Refer to your motorcycle’s shop manual. 2. Using either the test light or voltmeter, connect or touch one lead to the chassis or ground. Turn on the ignition switch. 3. Then touch the probe of either the test-light or the other lead of the voltmeter to one of wires or contacts where the flasher was removed from. If using the test-light, the light will light up when the supply line has been located. If using the voltmeter, the meter will indicate a voltage value, if present. Important Notice: Verify which grounding type your motorcycle is using before performing one of the following procedures. This can simply be done by seeing which terminal of the battery is connected to the motorcycle’s chassis or frame. Figure 3 • Positive Earth: Connect the black wire (-V) into the contact that indicated power was present. Plug the white wire (O/P) into the other contact, which did not have any power present. Turn off the ignition switch. Cut off the connector on the red wire w/ fuse holder (+V); strip the insulation back about ¼” (6 mm) and install the ring terminal on the wire, then ground the ring terminal to a chassis bolt or screw. If ground is not available via the chassis, then connect to an earth (ground) wire from the wiring harness. • Negative Ground: Connect red wire w/ fuse holder (+V) into the contact that indicated power was present. Plug the white wire (O/P) into the other contact, which did not have any power present. Turn off the ignition switch. Cut off the connector on the black wire (-V); strip the insulation back about ¼” (6 mm) and install the ring terminal on the wire, then ground the ring terminal to a chassis bolt or screw. If ground is not available via the chassis, then connect to a ground wire from the wiring harness

The transceiver is pre-charged at the factory and will operate out of the box but we recommend that it be charge for at least 10 hours when first operated to insure full life of battery. 1. Plug in provided charger into the transceiver. 2. While the transceiver is charging the red status LED will flash twice every two seconds. 3. When transceiver is fully charged no LED will flash. 4. Recharge the transceiver every day to maintain full function. Receiver Status LED Panel The status LED panel provides information about the status of the receiver, memory and the battery level. Receiver on / Memory Trigger Blue LED will flash Receiver on / Low Battery Red LED will flash. Receiver On White LED will flash Range LED Range LED indicates when the transceiver is still with in receiving range of the system. In Range Green LED will flash Out Of range Red LED will flash Operating the transceiver The following instruction assumes that the transceiver is with in range of the motorcycle. Arming Press the #1 button, the siren will chirp 3 times. The transceiver will chirp twice and the white status LED will continuously flash to confirm that the receiver is on. The range LED light will then flash green . System is armed.

1) Turn on the ignition to supply power to the SWI-3. 2) Use a pen to depress the “program mode” button. Remove pen when left LED light comes on. 3) Within 10 seconds press and hold one of the steering wheel function buttons. Continue to hold steering wheel button until the left LED turns off. Release the steering wheel button and the right LED turns on. 4) Place the stereo’s IR remote within 3″ of the “IR Input” port on the side of the SWI-3 next to the program button. Press and hold the remote’s button that corresponds to the steering wheel button that was pressed. Continue to hold the remote’s button until the right LED turns off. Release the button and the left LED will turn on. 5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all radio steering wheel functions are programmed. 6) When programming is complete, wait 10 seconds and both LED’s will flash 3 times. This indicates an automatic program exit. Do not stop more than 10 seconds while programming or there will be an automatic program exit and you will have to start over at step number 2 above. Turning off ignition before the automatic exit will require starting over at step 2 above. The SWI-3 can be reprogrammed unlimited times. Testing • Test the SWI-3 by holding it’s infrared LED (LED on the end of 4′ lead) close to the stereo and verify that it works properly. Experiment with various locations for the LED. You should be able to find a hidden and convenient mounting location. Try along the top front and /or bottom of the stereo as well as it’s sides. The LED can be replaced with most any IR LED, like Radio Shack’s # 276-143. The longest lead of the LED connects to the red wire of the 4′ cable and the short lead of the LED connects to the black wire of the 4′ cable

The flasher is set to flash continuously as long as the brake is applied. To convert to a 5 second flash and then stay solid while the brake is applied, cut the green wire loop on the flasher. Use electrical tape to protect and secure the green wires to the other wires. 2. Remove the rider’s seat. Locate the wire bundle that starts at the rear of the motorcycle. At the most accessible spot carefully remove 3″ to 3½” of protective wire loom. I know, I know…it’s really beautifully done. Cowboy up! Take it off! 3. Mount the flasher in a location that will not crimp wires or interfere with the other bike assemblies. Locate the +12 volt wire ( GRAY wire with BLACK stripe and YELLOW banding) from the brake light Attach the kit RED wire to the brake light positive wire using one of the Posi-Tap connectors in the kit. 4. Locate the Ground wire ( BROWN wire) from the brake light. Attach the kit BLACK wire to the motorcycle ground wire using a Posi-Tap connector. 5. If you have a Fuse Block with ignition switched relay installed, route the Hyper-Lite GRAY wire to a fused circuit on the (relay activated) fuse block . 6. If you do not have a Fuse Block installed, find the alarm circuit connector under the seat . The alarm circuit has a rectangular connector and five wires, White with Black stripe; White with Brown stripe; Red with White; Brown with White; and Green with White stripe. Use a Posi-Tap to attach the Hyper-Lite GRAY wire to the green wire with white stripe. Pull the wire loom back from the wire. Tap into the wire with the Posi-Tap provided. . 7. If using the Hyper-Lite License Plate Mounting bracket, install it now. OR: Clean the side facing reflectors at the rear of the bike with alcohol. Mount the LED modules vertically on the reflectors so that the LEDs point straight back. Press in place for about 5 seconds. The tape can be used only once! If you goof, new tape is required. 8. Route the BLUE and BROWN wires from the flasher and the LED modules. Trim the Blue and Brown wires to remove any excess wire . Use a Posi-Twist to connect the 3 BLUE wires together. Use a Posi-Twist to connect the 3 BROWN wires together. (see Posi-Twist Connector instructions)

1. Make sure your bike is cool and parked on a flat secure surface! 2. Find your battery (you may have to remove your seat or side covers in order to get to your battery) Disconnect the NEGATIVE ( -) cable. Negative battery cable must be disconnected from the battery in order to avoid safety hazards! Be sure as you disconnect the Negative cable that it does not touch or make contact with your Positive terminal 3. Your new motorcycle LED lights are polarity sensitive–meaning that the RED wires on the LEDs must be hooked to the Positive (+) terminal and the BLACK wires must be hooked to the Ground (-) . All Red Wires must go to a common power wire and ALL Black Wires must go to a common ground. You cannot run the LED motorcycle lights in a series nor can you run the wires from one motorcycle LED light to another in a loop type installation. ( All of the wires on the motorcycle LED lights which you install will end up together in one place at your battery.) 4. Pick a hidden flat surface around the front of your seat area to mount the switch. ( You must be able to reach the switch when the seat and/or side covers are back on your bike.) You will install your switch later using the double-sided tape provided to you. 5. Next, begin choosing the locations where you would like to mount your motorcycle LED lights. Choose areas which will give you the most light coverage overall, but which will allow the motorcycle LED lights itself to be hidden from easy view when you are standing back and looking at the bike. 6. Clean each area where you choose to place a motorcycle LED light with the alcohol based cleaner making sure all dirt and/or oil is removed from that area
