Some models like Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki Vulcan FI models, Suzuki FI models, Honda VTX 1800 and others may require the included Tach Adapter. See separate instructions for installation of the adaptor. Wiring instructions for 7-Color LED Tachs Wire Baron’s Tach to one of your motorcycle’s ignition coils via the following schematic: • Green wire of tach to NEGATIVE terminal of coil (see FAQ to determine your bike’s negative side) • Black wire of tach to CHASSIS (Ground) • Red wire to of tach to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Red wire from control box to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Black wire from control box to CHASSIS (ground) • Control box plugs into tach with the 4-way connector • Button plugs into the control box. Button can be mounted on handlebar or any other convenient place Wiring instructions for White- or Black-Face Tachs Wire Baron’s Tach to one of your motorcycle’s ignition coils via the following schematic: • Green wire to NEGATIVE terminal of coil (see FAQ to determine your bike’s negative side) • Black wire to CHASSIS (Ground) • Red wire to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Blue wire to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) General mounting instructions (1) Mount new Baron Tach on handlebar in your preferred position. Ideal location is between handlebar risers. If mounted off- center, you can rotate tach face back to vertical (or any position you desire) by first loosening tach unit’s set screw (found either in handlebar area of housing or underside of housing, depending on tach style), then unscrewing tach housing’s bezel, rotating tach, re-installing bezel and retightening set screw. Secure handlebar clamp by first tightening the rear, flat side of clamp all the way down, then tighten tapered front side of clamp until tach does not rotate. There should be a small gap on the pointed side and no gap on the flat side when the clamp is correctly tightened. (2) Route tach’s wire harness lead to coil as necessary for simplest and cleanest installation. Feed tach harness alongside bike’s wiring harness (passing behind any plastic frame covers), then downward toward coil. (3) Make your wire connections as recommended above. Use the spade and piggyback connectors

Remove and retain the (4) chrome caps from the handlebar clamps. Remove and retain the (4) stock allen head bolts. This hardware will be re-used with the new Billet Tach Mount Kit. Carefully remove the stock handlebar clamps while supporting the handlebars. INSTALLATION: 2. Slide the Electronic Tachometer (#6) into the Billet Tach Mount (#2) and secure with the 10-24 X 1/4″ Socket Set Screw (#10) supplied. Carefully pull the tachometer wire harness through the larger hole in the Billet Tach Cup (#3) and secure the Billet Tach Cup with the 10-24 X 1/8″ Socket Set Screw supplied. (The additional holes in the tach cup are for air circulation). Attach the Billet Tach Mount to the Billet Handlebar Clamp (#1) with the two 10-24 X 1-3/4″ Socket Head Screws (#4) supplied. Install the Billet Tach Mount assembly with the four stock allen head bolts and chrome caps removed in step 1 above. Adjust handlebars to desired height and torque bolts to factory specs. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS: 3. Refer to FIG. #1 . Remove Seat. Disconnect negative cable from battery. Remove fuel tank retaining bolts. Raise fuel tank about 3″-4″ to expose the Left Side Ignition Coil. It is not necessary to completely remove the gas tank on the Road Star. (V-Star 1100 applications use the right front coil and require fuel tank removal.) TIP: Long needle nose pliers are useful in removing and re-installing the coil wires. If desired, tach wire loom may be shortened as necessary. Using an appropriate crimping tool, connect the Tachometer wires in the following manner: Cut Shrink Tubing (#9) into two 1″ pieces

1. Mount new Baron Tach on handlebar in your preferred position. Ideal location is between handlebar risers. If mounted off-center, you can rotate tach face back to vertical (or any position you desire) by first loosening tach unit’s set screw (found either in handlebar area of housing or underside of housing, depending on tach style), then unscrewing tach housing’s bezel, rotating the tach internals, re-installing the bezel and retightening the set screw. 2. Secure handlebar clamp by first tightening the rear, flat side of clamp all the way down, and then tighten the tapered front side of clamp until tach does not rotate. There should be a small gap on the pointed side and no gap on the flat side when the clamp is correctly tightened. 3. Route tach’s wire harness lead under dash for simplest and cleanest installation. 4. Make your wire connections as follows: a. Locate the pink wire under the speedo (sometimes has a plastic bullet end on it). Cut the plastic off and splice the pink wire with the green wire from the tachometer. b. Find the orange wire and attach the tach power wires to it (usually blue & red from tach (incandescent) or red & yellow for single color LED tachs. On 7-color LED models it is red from tach and red from LED controller box) . c. Locate a suitable ground (usually a bare frame bolt) and attach the black wires from the tachometer and the LED controller box (if equipped).

INSTALLATION Preparation For EFI models: To prevent spray of fuel, purge system of high-pressure fuel before supply line is disconnected. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00275a) Follow the instructions found in the Service Manual to purge the fuel supply of high pressure gasoline and remove the fuel supply line. For ALL models, WITH Maxi-Fuse: To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove maxi-fuse before proceeding. (00251a) 1. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the Maxi-Fuse. For ALL models, WITHOUT Maxi-Fuse: To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) 1. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Retain all seat mounting hardware. -J04106 Gasoline can drain fr om the carb uretor fuel line when disconnected from fuel valve fitting. For FLHR models, or Softail models WITH the Nacelle Kit: Follow the instructions in the Service Manual and the mini-tach bracket kit (purchased separately) to remove the handlebar shroud. Mini-Tach Bracket Installation 6. For all models except FLHR: Install the mini-tach bracket components per the instructions in that kit. For FLHR models: Follow the instructions in the Service Manual and the mini-tach bracket kit to install the handlebar shroud and bracket components. 7. See Figure 7. Select the rubber isolation gasket (1) from this kit.

The PGR-1000 is designed for motorcycles with an Electronic VSS signal. Most modern motorcycles use a 3-wire hall-effect type speed sensor in the transmission with a power, ground, and a signal wire. The SEN-1019 is available for motorcycles without a factory VSS signal, fabrication will be required for sensor mounting. 1996-2003 Harley Davidson wiring All signal wires should be found behind the speedometer or tachometer along with power and ground. REMOVAL 1. Remove seat according to the instructions in the Service Manual. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative (-) cable first) before proceeding. Pull turn signal (B) and turn signal mount (A) away from fender support. 6. Remove turn signal and wires from vehicle by routing turn signal wiring and connector through holes in rear fender and fender support. Gently guide wires through holes to ensure they do not get damaged. Feed Wiring and Install Relocation Bracket 1. See Figure 6. Insert stock screw and washer through rear hole of relocation bracket (1) and turn signal mount (A). 3. Thread screw into turn signal (B). Tighten to 12-16 ft-lbs (16.3-21.7 Nm). 4. Align relocation bracket (1) with rear of fender support and install with screw (2) and nut (3) from kit. Tighten nut to 12-16 ft-lbs (16.3-21.7 Nm). Complete Turn Signal Relocation Wiring 1.
