” bolt from the mounting stem on the Signal® mirror. While seated on the motorcycle, position the Signal® mirror on the handle bar. Secure the Signal® mirror to the handle bar using the 5/ 16 ” bolt. Make sure the bolt is tight! Guide the Signal® mirror wire harness into the cowling by going along side the existing factory wire harness. 4 Remove any slack in the wire harness. Secure the wire harness to the handle bar using a supplied tie wrap. 5 6 Adjust the position of the Signal® mirror and tighten the ball retention screws. Remove the motorcycle seat. Remove the aft mounting bolts on the fuel tank. 7 Guide the Signal® mirror wire harness along the inside of the fuel tank’s front mounting bolt and between the crossover tube. 8 9 Lift up the aft portion of the fuel tank and guide the Signal® mirror wire harness down the backbone of the motorcycle frame, alongside the existing factory wire harness. The motorcycle’s electrical wiring for turn indicators is located aft of the gas tank on the backbone of the frame. Guide the new wire harness from the Signal® mirror to the electrical wiring. Cut off any excess slack in the wire. Locate the SOLID BROWN wire from the wire connector. Turn the ignition key so that electrical power is on and activate the right side turn indicator. Probe the wire with the wire tester to verify that flashing turn indicator power is present. Label that wire as ‘right side turn’. Repeat all of the previous steps to replace the left side factory mirror with the new Signal® mirror. Locate the SOLID VIOLET wire from the wire connector. Activate the left side turn indicator and probe the wire with the wire tester to verify that flashing turn indicator power is present. Label that wire as ‘left side turn

Remove the front sub-harness from the cowl stay hooks. Disconnect all the electrical components from the front sub-harness. 2. Temporarily set the main wire harness aside, and disconnect the 6P (natural) con- nector. Then, carefully remove the front sub-harness. 3. Install the new front sub-harness by con- necting the 14P (natural) and 18P (light blue) connectors. NOTE: For routing specifications, refer to the WIRING & HARNESS ROUTING SECTION on pages 7-8. 4. Attach the front sub-harness on the cowl stay hooks. Make sure the front sub-harness is routed elow the main sub-harness. Routing the Antenna Wire The MCM includes an 18″ antenna wire. The first 12″ is a coaxial wire; the remaining 6″ is the reception antenna wire. When routing, try to avoid running the antenna along or near metal. For best performance, have the antenna wire as vertical as possible and exposed. Wire Connections The system includes one harness (HAR-1a) that connects directly into the MCM. The harness is split into three plugs: one for the GEN-1a connector, one for the optional SN-5 connector and one for the data output for future expansion. Note: Each plug is unique and will only fit the appropriate component one way. Main Harness Note: If the optional factory connector kit is being used, please disregard this section of the instructions and refer to the instructions supplied with the factory connector kit. The main harness consists of two harnesses. One is labeled (HAR-1a) and the second is labeled (GEN-1a). Plug in the white 4 pin connector from the (HAR-1a) into the matching 4 pin connector from the (GEN-1a). The (HAR-1a) also has a waterproof connector that plugs into the MCM. The wires should be connected as follows: HAR-1a Black wire with fuse and ring terminal – To battery Positive (+). GEN-1a Black wire – To ground (-). Orange wire – To tail light wire or any other wire that is hot (+) when ignition is ON (NOTE: this is an input to the alarm this connection is not designed to flash the tail light). Route the red and white wires behind the fuel tank, along the left side wiring harness to the fuse box. 8. Connect the RED wire with eyelet connector attached, to the positive side of the accessory terminal in the fuse box. 9. Connect the WHITE wire to the negative battery terminal. 10. Connect the brown wire with white tracer to the brown wire with white tracer (tail relay in relay box) using a scotch-lok connector. 11. Route the orange wire with black tracer and the white wire behind the fuel tank, with at least 6 inches of wire left hanging below the bike. 12. Reinstall the right fairing pocket with the two M3 Phillips head screws and two trim clips. 13. Replace the right front side cover and the right and left rear side covers. 14. Replace the seat and passenger grip handles with the four M8 x 1.25 socket head cap screws

Before starting to assemble this forward kit on your motorcycle check the packing list to make sure that the kit you received is the correct one for your model motorcycle and that the foot pegs are the style you ordered (billet or ISO). Next check the contents hardware kit P.N.0109-1000 against the packing list for completeness. Installing The Shift Control Photo 1 Remove wires from horn. Remove the two hex head bolts (Save for later installation) that mount the OEM shift controls to your motorcycle. Unthread stock shift rod at trans shift arm, leaving OEM rod end connected to stock shift arm. Using Original Metric hardware, place a drop of Loctite #242 (blue) to the bolt threads and mount the shift control plate to the motorcycle frame, Photo 2. FORWARD CONTROL KIT PM SHIFT CONTROL ASSEMBLY Note Before torquing the shift control mounting bolts down, tighten them snug and look behind the shift control mounting plate to where it contacts the mounting lug on the frame. Make sure it fits squarely to the lug before proceeding further. Torque the two shift control mounting bolts down to 25 ft-lb. Using a 3/8″ x 1″ hex head bolt with a lock and flat washer put a drop of Loctite #242 (blue) on the threads and insert the bolt through the rear of the control mounting plate and attach the foot-peg pivot to it. Tighten the bolt while holding the footpeg pivot so that its hinge is lined up in a 45˚ rear facing angle. Thread supplied shift rod coupler to stock shift rod end at trans arm. Mount the shift pedal to the other end of the shift ro d using a 5/16″ x 1″ socket head screw and Nylocnut . Adjust the transmission shift linkage so that the shift arm on the forward controls and the shift arm on the transmission are parallel. Secure it with the jam nuts. Apply a drop of Loctite #242 (blue) to the threads under the jam nut before tightening see Photo 3 After you have assembled the shift control onto your motorcycle you must align the footpeg. The folding footpeg assembly uses a blind stud to attach the footpeg to the footpeg pivot. Shim washers (3/8″ x .015″) are used on the stud between the footpeg and the pivot, see Photo 4, so that the top surface of the footpeg is correctly aligned for your foot when it is tightened down on the pivot. This is done by setting a couple of shim washers on the footpeg mounting stud “A” and then screwing the footpeg onto the mounting stud, if the footpeg is rotated to far forward then add another shim washer, if not far enough then remove a shim washer. After you have the selected the correct number of shims for your footpeg, disassemble the footpeg and put a drop of Loctite #271 (red) on both ends of the stud and reassemble the footpeg. This will also need to be done on the brake control footpeg. Setting Up the Master Cylinder The master cylinder pushrod return spring and pushrod boot must be installed on the master cylinder before it is assembled onto the forward control mount. The parts are shown in Photo 5: pushrod boot (A), pushrod return spring (B), spring seat washer (C), and master cylinder (D). Place the return spring seat washer into bore of master cylinder so that is sits on top of the piston retaining snap ring. Next set the pushrod return spring on the seat washer and slide the pushrod boot over the return spring now slip the big end of the boot over the flange on the master cylinder so that the ridge on the inside of the boot fits into groove “A” that is machined into the end of the master cylinder flange, see Photo 6. Installing The Brake Control Unplug stock brake light switch at master cylinder. Remove brake line from rear caliper. Remove the existing brake controls from your motorcycle down to the control mounting lug that is welded on to the frame’s right side, see Photo 8. Save Metric hardware for later use. The flasher is set to flash continuously as long as the brake is applied. To convert to a 5 second flash and then stay solid while the brake is applied, cut the green wire loop on the flasher. Use electrical tape to protect and secure the green wires to the other wires. 2. Remove the rider’s seat. Locate the wire bundle that starts at the rear of the motorcycle. At the most accessible spot carefully remove 3″ to 3½” of protective wire loom. I know, I know…it’s really beautifully done. Cowboy up! Take it off! 3. Mount the flasher in a location that will not crimp wires or interfere with the other bike assemblies. Locate the +12 volt wire ( GRAY wire with BLACK stripe and YELLOW banding) from the brake light Attach the kit RED wire to the brake light positive wire using one of the Posi-Tap connectors in the kit. 4. Locate the Ground wire ( BROWN wire) from the brake light. Attach the kit BLACK wire to the motorcycle ground wire using a Posi-Tap connector. 5. If you have a Fuse Block with ignition switched relay installed, route the Hyper-Lite GRAY wire to a fused circuit on the (relay activated) fuse block . 6. If you do not have a Fuse Block installed, find the alarm circuit connector under the seat . The alarm circuit has a rectangular connector and five wires, White with Black stripe; White with Brown stripe; Red with White; Brown with White; and Green with White stripe. Use a Posi-Tap to attach the Hyper-Lite GRAY wire to the green wire with white stripe. Pull the wire loom back from the wire. Tap into the wire with the Posi-Tap provided. . 7. If using the Hyper-Lite License Plate Mounting bracket, install it now. OR: Clean the side facing reflectors at the rear of the bike with alcohol. Mount the LED modules vertically on the reflectors so that the LEDs point straight back. Press in place for about 5 seconds. The tape can be used only once! If you goof, new tape is required. 8. Route the BLUE and BROWN wires from the flasher and the LED modules. Trim the Blue and Brown wires to remove any excess wire . Use a Posi-Twist to connect the 3 BLUE wires together. Use a Posi-Twist to connect the 3 BROWN wires together. (see Posi-Twist Connector instructions)

Wiring instructions for 7-Color LED Tachs Wire Baron’s Tach to one of your motorcycle’s ignition coils via the following schematic: • Green wire of tach to NEGATIVE terminal of coil (see FAQ to determine your bike’s negative side) • Black wire of tach to CHASSIS (Ground) • Red wire to of tach to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Red wire from control box to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Black wire from control box to CHASSIS (ground) • Control box plugs into tach with the 4-way connector • Button plugs into the control box. Ideal location is between handlebar risers. If mounted off- center, you can rotate tach face back to vertical (or any position you desire) by first loosening tach unit’s set screw (found either in handlebar area of housing or underside of housing, depending on tach style), then unscrewing tach housing’s bezel, rotating tach, re-installing bezel and retightening set screw. Secure handlebar clamp by first tightening the rear, flat side of clamp all the way down, then tighten tapered front side of clamp until tach does not rotate. There should be a small gap on the pointed side and no gap on the flat side when the clamp is correctly tightened. (2) Route tach’s wire harness lead to coil as necessary for simplest and cleanest installation. Feed tach harness alongside bike’s wiring harness (passing behind any plastic frame covers), then downward toward coil. (3) Make your wire connections as recommended above. Use the spade and piggyback connectors

1. Place the motorcycle on a level and secure area. Disconnect the battery. 2. Refer to the appropriate factory service manual and remove the OEM speedometer and indicator lights. The indicator lights usually unplug either in the rear of the headlight or under the gas tank area. 3. Mount the new speedometer in the desired location. 4. Locate the OEM wire for the high beam indicator light. Connect it with the blue wire from the wire harness on the speedometer. Connect the blue/black wire from the speedometer to ground. 5. Locate the OEM wire for the gauge illumination (back) lighting. Connect this wire to the orange wire on the speedometer. Connect the black wire on the speedometer to ground. 6. Locate the OEM wires for the turn signals. Usually they are brown and violet wires. NOTE: You will notice only one bulb for the turn signals in the gauge and two wires from the bike to the harness. If you connect both of these wires directly to the yellow wire on the speedometer, this will allow feedback and cause all the signals to flash at once. To prevent this, you will need to add a diode between each OEM turn signal wire and the yellow wire coming from the speedometer. We recommend that you utilize a Dyna tach adapter, Part #D-101, available separately. This tach adapter includes the diodes necessary to allow the turn signal indicator light to operate correctly. Follow the instructions for the tach adapter, substituting the wires from the original wire harness found in step 6 for the two ignition terminals shown in the wire schematic. Hook the white wire on the tach adapter to the yellow wire for the turn signal indicator on the speedometer. If you use the D-101 adapter, skip steps 7-9 and go directly to step 10. 7. Take one of the diodes, making sure to observe the correct polarity, and attach it to the brown turn signal wire on the bike. 8. Take the remaining diode, again making sure to observe the correct polarity, and attach it to the violet turn signal wire on the bike

You can see where I drilled the holes to mount the bracket. (2566, 2567) You’ll have to bend the bracket to fit and reposition it on the servo (the extra holes are already there on the servo to move the bracket). Just bend it until it lays flat on the back of the plastic box. You’ll have to unbolt the two bolts that hold the plastic box in place to work on it. I made the hole in the front of the box (where the servo cable goes through) way too large, but I wasn’t sure what angle it would be at when I installed it, so I kept cutting it bigger so the cable wouldn’t be bent too sharp. (2565) I ran the servo cable along the top frame under the tank, around the front cylinder and into a bracket (that came with the unit) that I cut off to fit. I attached the bracket to the screw on the air cleaner, but you really have to do a lot of grinding on the bracket to get it to fit the area so that it will lay flat and tighten up with the screw. You’ll see what I mean when you put a piece of metal or bracket up to that hole. It’s not flat, so I used a moto-tool to cut slots in the bracket and a grinder to grind it down smaller so that it would fit in that area. I used the long “cable” and no bead chain to connect to the throttle. (2560) First take off your throttle grip and release the “pull” cable (the front one) so you can remove it from the carb lever. Then put the cable end over the throttle cable end and re-insert it, then re-assemble your throttle. Hook the ball on the end of the long cable (there are two or three cables in the kit, use the long one) to one of the bead chain connectors (you have to spread it first) and then close it back up. (2563) Spread the other end and hook it to the servo cable and then using your pliers, close it again. Ok, now you have the servo all hooked up. You’ll need a vacuum canister, which you can buy at JC Whitney, or make one from PCV pipe (2″) with caps. (2554, 2555) Drill two 5/16″ holes in the pipe, tap(1/8″) them and insert brass 3/16″ nipples for your vacuum hose. (2568) Hook the black of the Napa one-way vacuum check valve end up to your engine vacuum and the blue end to your canister. I disconnected the emissions canister from the cylinder number one intake. I then uncapped the vacuum tap on the number two cylinder intake and connected the two together with a “T” (from the kit) and the connected the remaining end of the “T” to the black end of the check valve. (2556) The other nipple on your canister gets connected to the servo (drill a whole in the bottom of the black box to run it in). Wiring: Drill a hole in the top of the black box to run the wiring harness out. I’d suggest you take a roll of electrical tape and tape it up first. Leave the black ground wire out of the tape and also leave the purple and red wires out of the taped area about 8″ or 10″ up from the servo. You’ll want them near the servo so you can cross them over the bike to the right side and hook the black wire directly to the negative side of the battery. The purple wire connects to the yellow brake light wire and the red wire connects to the blue wire, which is hot when the key is on. The rest of the harness you can run along the left side of the frame, using wire tires to tie it off. Leave the blue wire out of the harness as you get to the front cylinder (so you can hook it to the front coil), or you could use the back cylinder coil. You can make a little “Y” harness out of spade connectors (female on one end, and male on the other two ends) to join the blue wire to the coil. Use the gray wire on the front coil or the orange wire on the rear coil
