Always keep the battery charged. Storing a discharged battery can cause permanent battery damage. ● To charge a sealed-type (MF) battery, a special (constant- voltage) battery charger is required. Using a conventional battery charger will damage the battery. If you do not have access to a sealed-type (MF) battery charger, have a Yamaha dealer charge your battery. EAU04076* Replacing the fuses The fuse box, which contains the fuses for the individual circuits, is located under panel D. The fuel injection system fuse box is located under panel D. The main fuse box is also located under panel D, beside the battery. (See page 6-7 for panel removal and installation procedures.) If a fuse is blown, replace it as follows. 1. Turn the key to “OFF” and turn off the electrical circuit in question. 2. Remove the blown fuse, and then install a new fuse of the specified amperage. 1. Fuel injection system fuse 2. 1. Cover gas tank and front fender with towels to avoid damage during installation. 2. Install the two mounting plates onto the windshield, using the bottom and third bolt up. Leave the nylon washers off. The small tab goes to the bottom, big one at the top. (see Figure 1) Tabs face out away from the headlight when installed correctly. 3. Remove the headlight lens and chrome Turn Signal Bar cover and set them in a safe place. (see figure 2) 4. Remove the (3) socket head cap screws that hold the Headlight housing and let it rest carefully so that it does not fall. 5. Remove the turn signal bar by extracting the two socket head cap screws and let it dangle. (see figure 2) 6. Loosely install the throttle-side Bracket and Headlight using one of the (3) new longer 6mm x 30mm socket head cap screws. The nylon washer goes in between Headlight Housing and Headlight Bracket. (see figure 3) Install one of the (2) new 8mm x 45mm SS flat head screw and spacer in the lower hole to mount the turn signal bar. Insert the bolt in this order: bolt – windshield bracket – spacer – turn signal bar, and loosely tighten . (see Figure 3) Repeat these steps for the Clutch side. (See figure 4 for optional Cobra Light Bar installation, or to move Turn Signals forward to mount Lowers closer to the windshield.) 7. Once both windshield brackets are in place and all the new bolts are in place, Tighten all bolts. Re-install the chrome Turn Signal Bar cover. (Leave the chrome cover off if you use the alternate installation for Light Bar or Lowers). Re-Install the Headlight lens. 8. Loosen the (4) anchor bolts on the side of the windshield brackets. Slip the windshield mounting plates onto the brackets starting with the upper slot first then slip the bottom slot in. Adjust height, angle and tighten all bolts. This is a quick change kit. ALWAYS tighten all mounting bolts after removing or installing the windshield

Remove fuel tank and air filter assembly per Yamaha service manual procedures. 2. Remove the air silencer box under the tank. 3. Install supplied BA-2410-00 Needle/Jet kit according to the instructions in the jet kit package being sure to use the Jets and Needle Slot setting called out for the external BAK filter assemble. 4. Reinstall the air silencer box under the tank. 5. Remove the rubber boot from the stock air box. It is glued-in from the factory, but will come loose if gently persuaded. STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL 1. This Exhaust system is specifically designed for California models, before continuing be sure it is the correct system for your application. 2. Loosen clamp that connects muffler to front head pipe. 3. Remove cylinder exhaust bolts from rear head pipe that connects rear head pipe to cylinder (save for re- use). 4. Remove bolts that connect mufflers to mounting bracket. Remove complete system. Note: Assistance may be required. Page 1of 4 Y411IN Rev. 1.0 YAMAHA V-STAR 650 CRUZER EXHAUST SYSTEM, CA Model Part #31505 Tools required for installation: 1/2”, 12mm & 10mm wrenches 5mm, 6mm Allen wrenches 5/16″ nutdriver / flat blade screwdriver VANCE & HINES EXHAUST SYSTEM INSTALLATION 1. Check condition of stock exhaust gaskets. Replace if damaged or worn. 2. Install mounting bracket (stamped 370-P) in the original muffler mounting position, using two 8mm bolts (supplied)(Figure 1). 3. Mark outside surface of front and rear heat shields with location of mounting clips that are welded to the inside (Figure 2). Place each heat shield on a non abrasive surface such as a blanket or carpet. Lay each head pipe/muffler onto its respective heat shield (Figure 3). 4. Loosely install each hose clamp by feeding tail end of clamp into heat shield clip (Figure 4). Take note of clamp screw head direction (Figure 3). Screw head should be accessible when system is installed on motorcycle for adjustment purposes. Note: Do not tighten yet. 5. Install T-bolt clamp onto front muffler. Slide muffler onto front head pipe. Slide dog bone shaped nut plate (supplied) inside bracket welded to backside of front muffler. Attach muffler to mounting bracket 370-P using two 5/16″ flange bolts (supplied) engaging dog bone nut plate. Leave head pipe/muffler assembly loose at this time (Figure 4). 6. Using stock Allen bolts, carefully install rear head pipe/muffler assembly into exhaust port. (Assistance may be required). Note: Do not tighten yet. 7. Slide dog bone shaped nut plate (supplied) inside bracket welded to backside of rear muffler

You want a big cruiser but you don’t need a large 1500 cc behemoth that weighs close to half-a-ton fully loaded. You want something you can cruise down the boulevard on but you want to be able to handle a corner or two. You want classic styling but you insist on reliability as well. If these are your guidelines, then Honda and Yamaha might have what you’re looking for in the guise of the Honda Shadow American Classic Edition and Yamaha V-Star 1100. Shadow ACE 1100 The ACE and V-Star have a few things in common: Both sport requisite V-twin powerplants (75° for the V-Star and 45° for the ACE) and both possess typical Japanese refinement. Aside from these similarities, the two rides are very different machines. While both machines are shaft driven, the ACE uses the shaft housing as the swingarm. Although this arrangement is effective, it’s a bit lacking style-wise. However, the whitewall tires and the classic fenders and tank help to create a traditional design that turns heads when you’re out and about. The V-Star uses a different approach, utilizing a pivoting sub-frame design with a hidden mono-shock that keeps the lines fluid and consistent with the rest of the bike. Although this beast isn’t equipped with whitewall tires, it still cuts a graceful, glittering profile. The only flaw we noticed was the small headlight that

Stock Exhaust System Removal 1. Remove right side Foot peg assembly or Floorboard. (Whichever is applicable to your model.) 2. Remove bolts that are holding pipes at rear mounting bracket. 3. Loosen clamps at mufflers. 4. Remove mufflers. 5. Remove the two nuts that secure the rear exhaust header pipe to the rear cylinder head. 6. Remove rear exhaust pipe assembly. 7. Remove the two nuts that secure the front exhaust header pipe to the front cylinder head. 8. Remove front exhaust pipe assembly. 9. Remove exhaust-mounting bracket from frame. Hard-Krome Exhaust System Installation NOTE: Take care when fitting this Hard-Krome aftermarket exhaust system on your motorcycle. It has been designed to replace a STOCK exhaust system on a motorcycle with its engine, frame and other components in their STOCK design, configuration and location. WARNING : Re-check and re-tighten ALL fasteners and supports after 50 miles, then re-check and tighten as necessary on a periodic basis to ensure proper operation and performance. NOTE: All fasteners should be loose during initial installation to ensure proper fit and location of the new exhaust system. 1. Install new exhaust gaskets. 2. Install mounting bracket using Bolts with flat & lock washers. 3. Install Front exhaust header pipe, taking care to not scratch chrome surfaces on pipe, engine or motorcycle — use masking tape as needed. 4. Install the two nuts to secure the flange that holds the exhaust header pipe to the front cylinder head — DO NOT TIGHTEN NUTS! 5. Install Nut strip into each slotted bracket of front pipe and start the 3/8-16×3/4″ Bolt with flat & lock washer through backside of mounting bracket. — DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS! 6. Carefully install rear pipe. 7. Install the two nuts to secure the flange that holds the exhaust header pipe to the front cylinder head — DO NOT TIGHTEN NUTS! 8. Install Nut strip into each slotted bracket of rear pipe and start the 3/8-16×3/4″ Bolt with flat & lock washer through backside of mounting bracket. — DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS! 9. Tighten the two bolts that secure the rear exhaust header pipe flange. 10. Tighten the two bolts that secure the front exhaust header pipe flange. 11. Tighten front pipe bolts at mounting bracket. 12. Tighten rear pipe bolts at mounting bracket. 13. Reinstall foot peg assembly or floorboard. 14. If applicable to your model install foot peg relocating brackets and foot pegs as shown in illustration. 15. Before starting bike wipe off any fingerprints and grease off pipes. Start bike and check for any exhaust leaks. NOTE: To achieve optimum performance from your Hard-Krome exhaust system we suggest installing the Dynojet jet kit for carbureted models

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Secure motorcycle to a bike lift and raise the motorcycle. 2. Remove stock rear shock from the motorcycle per standard Yamaha shop manual instructions. 3. Place the shaft of the shock in V” blocks and secure this in a vice or press, applying firm pressure to the V” blocks to trap the shaft so it will not turn. Unscrew the upper shock mount eyelet from the shaft. NOTE: The upper mount is a standard thread so you will rotate the mount counter-clockwise to unscrew it. 4. Next, screw the New LA Choppers Shock Mount onto shock shaft using Loctite. 5. Re-install shock spring, making sure it is locked in place with the retaining ring prior to slowly releasing the spring compressor. Allow shock spring to expand against the retaining ring and machined washer. 6. Reinstall shock onto the motorcycle per standard Yamaha shop manual instructions. WARNING: Installing a lowering kit will decrease initial ground clearance. The motorcycle will be lower to the ground and care should be taken to avoid bottoming, especially over bumps or in turns. To maintain proper balanced geometry, the front and rear of the motorcycle should be lowered equally. Failure to properly install the lowering kit and operate the motorcycle after installation may result in serious injury or death to the rider. REMOVING THE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM 1. Remove the right hand frame cover to avoid scratching it. 2. Remove the nuts that mount the rear header to the cylinder head. 3. Loosen the pinch clamp on the inlet end of the lower muffler. 4. Remove the two bolts that mount the mufflers to the muffler bracket, located between the two mufflers. Save the hardware for reuse. 5. Pull the rear head pipe out of the exhaust port. Slide the muffler assembly with the rear head pipe attached, rearward, disconnecting it from the front head pipe. Set the assembly aside. Note: Keep the front head pipe attached to the motorcycle, it will integrated with the new exhaust system. 6. Remove the muffler mounting bracket from the frame and set it aside. INSTALLING YOUR NEW VANCE & HINES EXHAUST SYSTEM 1. Install the V&H muffler mounting bracket (stamped 272) to the frame using the stock hardware and mounting location. Refer to figure 1 2. Slip the T-bolt band clamp (supplied) over the straight pipe that is welded to the front muffler. 3. Slip the front muffler assembly over the stock head pipe. Slide one dog bone shaped nut plate (supplied) under the bracket that is welded to the backside of the muffler. Attach the muffler to the mounting bracket using two of the 5/16″ flange head bolts (supplied), but leave them loose at this time. Refer to figure 1. 4. Install the rear header assembly to the exhaust port using the stock 8mm nuts, but leave them loose at this time. 5. Slide one dog bone shaped nut plate (supplied) under the bracket that is welded to the backside of the rear muffler. Attach the muffler to the mounting bracket using two of the 5/16″ flange head bolts (supplied), but leave them loose at this time. Refer to figure 1. 6. Unscrew all of the hose clamps (supplied) until they are completely loose. Mark the top edge of both heat shields with the location of the mounting clips that are welded to the backside. Position the front heat shield over the head pipe and feed the tail end of the hose clamps into the clips. Be sure that each hose clamp is engaged with both clips. Repeat this step with the rear heat shield. Note: The screw end of the hose clamp should be accessible, but not visible when pipe is mounted on the bike. Leave them loose at this time. 7. Align the mufflers so they are parallel when viewing from the right side of the bike, and tighten the 5/16″ flange bolts on the back side of both mufflers. 8. Tighten the two header flange nuts on the rear head pipe. 9. Tighten the T-bolt clamp at the slip joint of the front muffler. 10. Rotate the hose clamps on both heat shields so they are accessible with a screw driver and tighten each of them evenly. Note: The edge of the heat shield should just cover the weld on the inlet of each muffler, if not, adjust the heat shield for correct alignment
