Installation Steps: 1. Remove left and right body panels. 2. Remove the left side engine stud. Mount the left side offset using 99-HB-SH10125080 Socket Cap 10 X 1.25 X 80 Main Engine Stud. Tip: Only tighten enough so you can still move the offset by hand. Loosely mount the left side body panel. Adjust the offset so the frame slider when mounted will clear the bodywork. There is also a groove cut in the offset, this is so the body can clear the offset. 3. With the offset in the correct position remove body and torque down to OEM torque specs. 4. Using one drop of blue thread locker mount the left side puck to the offset with 99-HB- SH10150045 Socket Cap 10 X 1.5 X 45 (Holds puck to offset). Torque down to 30 to 32 foot lbs. 5. Remove the right side engine stud. Mount the right side offset using 99-HB-SH10125080 Socket Cap 10 X 1.25 X 80 Main Engine Stud. Tip: Only tighten enough so you can still move the offset by hand. Loosely mount the right side body panel. Adjust the offset so the frame slider when mounted will clear the bodywork. There is also a groove cut in the offset, this is so the body can clear the offset. 6. With the offset in the correct position remove body and torque down to OEM torque specs. 7. Relationship Between Tire Characteristics and Vehicle Pulling to One Side When radial tires are rotating, they have the characteristic of generating force in the lateral direction between the tire and the road surface. This lateral force is comprised of two factors: S Ply-steer, which changes direction according to the rotation direction of the tires.
S Conicity, which is generated in a fixed direction regardless of the tire rotation direction. If these lateral forces are too strong, vehicle pulling will occur. A. Ply-Steer Lateral force due to ply-steer is produced by the construction of the belts inside the tire tread. With radial tires, the wire of the belt is slanted as shown in the illustration below. Thus, it is in the lateral direction that tire tread easily changes shape (stretches), and lateral force is generated between the tire and the road surface in the lateral direction.

2007 – 2009 KAWASAKI Z 1000 RACING AND EVOLUTION EXHAUST SYSTEM

The Akrapovic RACING OPEN & EVOLUTION OPEN line is the highest level of Akrapovic exhaust systems and with hexagonal shaped muffler fits perfectly with the aggressive character of the ‘Z’. The conical tubing with interference crossover tubes between the header tubes work exceptionally well. With the Akrapovic exhaust system you will get massive power boost, more torque, a sportier sound and an even more aggressive top- level look on this muscular roadster. You can choose between classy titanium or carbon- fiber mufflers that stand out through their excellent quality. The systems are available in open version only. Besides great power and torque, you will also save in overall weight, as the Akrapovic system weighs 10.21 kg (RACING) or 11.5 kg (EVOLUTION) less than the stock assembly. PERFORMANCE Measurements of the Akrapovic RACING OPEN & EVOLUTION OPEN system on the Ka- wasaki Z 1000: The power curve shows a huge increase over the stock performance figures. It is much more linear, which means the engine is pulling strong and consistently right from the lowest rpm to the highest part of the overrev range. We measured a maximum increased power of 10.0 HP at 10270 rpm. The same goes for torque, which is also increased through entire rpm range. The drop-outs in the stock curve are filled and like the power curve, there is a major increase from 4000 rpm on. CONFIGURATION The configuration of the Akrapovic RACING OPEN & EVOLUTION OPEN system for the Z 1000 is 4-2-1, made of conical stainless steel or titanium tubes. The system includes interference crossover tubes between the header tubes, giving the Kawasaki increased performance characteristics. The muffler is available with either a titanium or carbon-fiber outer sleeve, attached to the motorcycle with an Akrapovic carbon-fiber muffler clamp. The individual elements of the system – header tubes, collector, link pipe and muffler – are connected with sleeve joints, secured with silicon-shielded springs.

Step 1: Identify the key components that complete our GP kit: You should have 3-line (front kit) , 3 SINGLE banjo bolt and 1 C-CLIP. There are also a total of 8 washers. 6 will be used, and 2 are spares. We strongly suggest having a professional mechanic install these brake lines, all other installations will VOID the warranty . Inspect your brake system after every race. Step 2: Cover the complete front end of the bike so that if any brake fluid does spill the paint will not be damaged, brake fluid will spill, there is no question!! Step 3: Uninstall stock hoses; be aware of how the stock system was routed in case you need to re-install it. Step 4: Install the GALFER GP 3-Line starting with the master cylinder line (top line). Torque level is 12 to 13 ft pounds. (See picture A2) Step 5: Install the C-CLIP provided to the lower triple tee left line needs to be held by c-clip [see picture A4] . Lower lines will travel in front of the forks to the calipers; three single banjo bolt (see picture A1) are included for master cylinder to each caliper. The positioning sequence on the master cylinder is as follows: Master cylinder, washer, 40-degree banjo (Top line), and washer. Single banjo bolt torque level is 12 FT Pounds. ( See picture A2 for positioning) Make sure that the [ CALIPER fittings ] on each caliper are positioned [ positioning ] (see picture A5- A6) . Thread banjo bolt into the caliper, and torque bolt to 12 to 13 Ft pounds. Before you proceed to the next step, please check for clearance of the lines. Compress the front end to make sure that the lines are not binding with anything. When the front end is fully extended or fully compressed, double check that the lines are traveling correctly and are clear of any obstructions. Once the lines have been checked for clearance.
