Jets: These are made in various sizes ranging from.099 inches to.1875 inches, the larger sizes being used only for racing or very high performance engines. The two sizes most commonly found on production cars are the.090 inch and the.100 inch. The size of the jet will be found stamped on the jet head. The figure “nine”wilt indicate that it is the.090 inch and the figure “one”will indicate the.100 inch jet. When tuninga production car the jets size should be checked to make sure that it is of the size recommended by the manufacturers. Centering of Jet: If for any reason, the jet assembly has been removed, it will be ne cessary to recenter the jet. First, remove the clevis pin at the base of the jet which attaches the jet head to the jet operating lever. Withdraw the jet completely and remove the adjusting nut and spring, then replace the adjusting nut, without its spring, and screw it up toits highest position. Slide the Set into position until the jet head is against the base of the adjusting nut. When this has been done, find out if the piston is perfectly free by lifting it up with the finger and allowing it to drop. If the piston is not entirely free, slacken the jet screw and manipulate the lower part of the assembly, including the projecting part of the bottom half of the jet bearing, adjusting nut, and jet head. Make sure that this assembly is now slightly loose. The piston should then rise and fall quite freely as the needle is now able to move the jet into the required central position. The jet screw should now be tightened and a further check made to determine that the piston is still quite free. When complete freedom of the piston is achieved the jet adjusting nut should be removed, together with the jet, and the spring replaced. Experience has shown that a large percentage of carburetors, which have given trouble has been due to the incorrect centering of jets. Jet Needles— These are made in a great variety of sizes, probably now well over two hundred and fifty, and each type of engine hasaneedlethat has been selected, after very careful tests have been carried out, to give the best all-round performance. Most manufacturers actually give three alternative needles for each type and size of engine, these needles clearly being listed by the manufacturer “Standard”, “Rich”or”Weak”and before tuning is started the needle, which is marked on the shank should be checked against the manufacturer’srecommendation to make quite sure that the right needle is fitted; this is most important.

Several new unique features are creating interest among Ridley Riders on the company’s riders forum, one of which is a parking brake. “We take comments from the owners of our motorcycles very, very seriously. Ridley Riders have asked for a parking brake for added security”, commented Jay Ridley, Vice President for the company. Added to the long list of improvements for the new year model is the new “2 Year Plus” factory warranty which offers twenty-five months of factory backed warranty. According to Ridley, this new warranty exceeds coverage provided by most other domestic manufacturer’s. One more reason Ridley believes 2008 will be the company’s best selling year model. With the holiday season fast approaching, Ridley Motorcycle felt the introduction of the new models would have more impact if held back until the middle of November. For Ridley, the holiday season means big business. Several of Ridley’s dealers have reported higher sales in December than in May. The company attributed this to their market which is nearly divided in half among men and women.

Break-in of this camshaft is important and you should adhere to all of the following instructions. It is also very important to use plenty of engine assembly lubricant, recommended is Coastal Engine Assembly Lube or Clevite 77, both are available from most automotive supply companies. We recommend you change the engine oil before the initial start-up of the engine after the assembly. Then change the oil again after the break-in of the cams to remove the excess
phosphate from the coated cams. These steps will help ensure that the camshaft breaks-in properly and that you have a long lasting product. Using full synthetic engine oil during break-in is not recommended but, is OK to use after the one-hour break-in period is over. Following a regular maintenance schedule is the best way to ensure durability and performance over the long run. Cleanliness is always a good place to start. Make sure the motorcycle is cleaned thoroughly before you start. It would be advisable to use an engine degreaser on the frame and the engine. Remove the fuel tank and thoroughly clean the inside of the frame rails, around the carburetor, and behind the radiators. Be sure to remove the ignition coil assembly and using high-pressure air, clean the spark plug hole out before the plug is removed. This will ensure a clean engine during the assembly process and less of a chance of thread damage and/or dirt contamination in the engine during reassembly

PREPARATION 1. Insure that the motorcycle is on flat level ground. 2. It is recommended that the motorcycle sit for at least one hour prior to installation to allow the engine to cool. During installation tight all fasteners to hold. Wait until you check all clearances and operation of the brake and shift lever to firmly tighten and torque all fasteners. INSTALLATION Right Side Highway Bar 1. Remove the front floor board bolt (M10). (14mm Socket) Figure 1. Right and Left side of Motorcycle is determined while sitting on the bike.
MAINTENANCE / CAUTION The high quality chrome finish of your National Cycle Chrome Highway Bar can be maintained with any quality chrome cleaner and / or polish applied with a soft cloth. Check hardware for tightness regularly. Never ride with loose mounting hardware. Check to be sure your Highway Bar does not contact any part of the motorcycle at a full turn left and right. Place “U” Bolt between the radiator and the down tube at the location shown in Figure 2. Threaded ends of “U” will face out- ward. 3. Select the right side Highway Bar. 4. Loosely install the Highway Bar at the lower mount point using the stock screw. (14mm Socket) Figure 3. While installing the Whizlock Nuts in the following Step #5 , be certain to tighten the nuts evenly, alternating left and right as you tighten. When complete you want the same amount of threads exposed on the ends of the “U” to insure the bolt does not rotate. 5. Install the upper Highway Bar with Whizlock Nuts. (1/2″ Socket) Figure 4. Orient assembly so Whizlock Nuts face outside. Firmly tighten after all clearances are checked. LEFT SIDE INSTALLATION 6. Repeat Steps 1 and 2. On the Left Side due to tight clearances between the radiator and the down tube you must locate the point where the radiator is “notched out” slightly. Figure 5. 7. Select the left side Highway Bar. 8. Repeat Steps 4 and 5.

1. Start the engine with the transmission in neutral or park. Listen for air leaks or odd noises. For air leaks secure hoses and connections. For odd noises, fi nd cause and repair before proceeding. This kit will function identically to the factory system except for being louder and much more responsive. 2. Test drive the vehicle. Listen for odd noises or rattles and fi x as necessary. 3. Position the motorcycle securely on its stand or a work stand. Cover the front fender and fuel tank with a cloth to avoid scratches from dropped tools. 1. From this point you can adjust the brackets 1″ (22mm) higher if you prefer keeping in mind, position of the front nose of windshield should have a minimum of 1/2″ (13mm) clearance from cowling .
