CHANGING ENGINE OIL CAUTION In case of oil leakage or malfunctions, contact an Aprilia Authorised Dealer . Do not dispose of oil in the environ- ment. Dispose of engine oil – stored in a sealed container – through the nearest waste oil reclamation firm or through the supplier. Carefully read page 34 (MAINTE- NANCE) To change engien oil: ◆ Ride for a few kilometres until engine reaches the operating temperature, then stop the engine. ◆ Position a graduated container (1), under the drain plug (2). ◆ Loosen oil filler plug (4) and drain plug (2). ◆ Let oil flow out of the sump. ◆ Loosen oil filter (3) and carefully clean it. ◆ Refit the filter and tighten fully. ◆ Tighten drain plug (2) and pour recommended oil into filler plug (4), see page 58 (LUBRICANT CHART). ◆ Tighten the filler plug. CAUTION Carefully tighten filler and drain plugs and ensure oil does not leak out. Periodically check for leaks at the casing cover gasket. Do not use the vehicle with insufficient lubrication or with contaminated or unsuitable lubricants, since this would cause early wear of the moving parts and may also cause irreparable failures Fluid reservoir (1) is under rear right wheelhouse. CAUTION Position the vehicle on firm and flat ground. ◆ Make sure that the fluid contained in the reservoir exceeds the ” MIN ” mark stamped on the reservoir. MIN = minimum level. WARNING Do not use the vehicle if the braking system is leaking fluid. CAUTION Do not use the vehicle if the fluid is below the “MIN” mark. 1

1. Remove the 2 Flanged Bolts securing the Tensioner Assembly. 2. Remove Tensioner Assembly from the engine block. 3. Unscrew and remove Lock Bolt. 4. Remove Pushrod, Ball & Retainer, Spring and “O” ring. Clean parts thoroughly and apply grease to the Balls & Retainer. Re-assembly procedure : 1. Place Spring on Pushrod and compress the spring beyond the hole in the Pushrod. 2. Insert a pin or wire into the hole in the Pushrod to hold the Spring in its’ compressed position. 3. Place Balls & Retainer onto Pushrod. 4. Insert Pushrod into the Tensioner body with the small flat on the Pushrod facing, and aligned with, the Locking Bolt hole. 5. Insert the Locking Bolt and tighten it against the small flat on the Pushrod to lock the Pushrod in the compressed position. Remove the pin that’s holding the Spring compressed. 6. Install the Tensioner assembly onto the cylinder block and install and tighten both Flanged Bolts. Be sure that the “O” ring has been installed at the base of the flange. 7.Looosen the Lock Bolt to release the Pushrod, then re-tighten the lock bolt

Short circuit button (SX) The short circuit button [1] turns off the engine. When pressing this button, the ignition circuit is short-circuited. Combination switch (EXC) The light switch has 2, respectively 3 switch positions. [A] = Light off (this function is not available in all models) [B] = Low beam on [C] = High beam on You may use button [2] to actuate the horn. The red short circuit button [3] serves to switch off the engine. Leave the switch pressed until the engine stops. Headlamp switch (XC-W) In this model the headlamp is switched on with the pull switch [4] . Flasher switch The flasher switch is a separate unit and is mounted on the left portion of the handlebar. The wire harness is designed in a way that whenever you want to use your bike off-road, you can dismount the entire turn indicator system without affecting the function of the remaining electrical system. Flasher left Flasher right Emergency OFF switch (Australia) The emergency OFF switch [5] is located next to the throttle grip. Primarily designed as safety or emergency OFF switch, it should normally not be in its activated state. In this position, the ignition circuit is shorted; if the engine is running, it will stall immediately, if it is at standstill, it will not start. Short circuit button (SX) The short circuit button [1] turns off the engine. When pressing this button, the ignition circuit is short-circuited. Filler cap To open it: Press the release button [2] and turn the tank cap in a counterclockwise direction. To close it: Put the tank cap back on and turn in a clockwise direction until the release button snaps into place. Install tank breather hose [3] without kinks. Fuel tap OFF In this position the fuel tap is closed. No fuel can flow to the carburetor. ON During operation the twist grip must be turned to ON. This means that the fuel can flow to the carburetor. Choke knob When pulling the choke knob [4] fully towards the top, a bore is opened in the carburetor. Through this bore the engine can take in additional fuel. This results in a rich fuel-air mixture, that is needed for a cold start. When pressing the choke knob downward in the carburetor, the bore is closed again. BRAKES This motorcycle has a hydraulic brake system of front and rear . Brakes are items of personal safety and should be properly adjusted. Remember to check periodically the brake system and these checks should be conducted by qualified Jincheng dealer. Do not use the remained brake fluid from on a unsealed container, never reuse the brake fluid remained in the last repairing, because the used brake fluid may absorb the water from the air. Use DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealed container. Do not spill out the brake fluid, when the brake fluid is glued to the paint, plastic and rubber material, a chemical reaction shall take place, causing the damage. FRONT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL Check that the fluid level is above the lower level mark(1) with the motorcycle in an upright position. Brake fluid must be added to the reservoir when ever the fluid level begins to reach the lower level mark(1). Fill the reservoir up to upper level mark. REAR BRAKE FLUID LEVEL There are two marks in rear brake fluid cap,keep the fluid lever between the Max. fluid level mark (2) and the Min. fluid level mark (3) always. FUEL DANGER Fuel used to drive internal combustion engines is highly inflammable and may become explosive under certain conditions. It is best to refuel and carry out maintenance in well ventilated places with the engine switched off. Do not smoke during refuelling or near fuel fumes. Avoid all contact with naked flames, sparks, or any other source that may cause ignition or explosion. Also avoid allowing the fuel to spill out of the filler cap as it could catch fire on contact with the very hot surfaces on the engine. Should fuel be spilled accidentally check that the area is completely dry before starting up the vehicle. The fuel expands when subjected to heat or the sun’s rays. The fuel tank should therefore never be filled to the brim. Close the filler cap carefully on completing refuelling. Avoid the fuel coming into contact with your skin, inhaling vapours, ingestion and siphoning from one container to another using a hose. DO NOT DISPOSE OF THE FUEL INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN. Only use super lead-free petrol, with a minimum octane rating of 95 (N.O.R.M.) and 85 (N.O.M.M.). LUBRICANTS DANGER Adequate lubrication of the vehicle is essential to guarantee the safety of the vehicle. Failure to keep lubricants at sufficiently high levels or the use of inadequate, new and clean lubricants may cause the engine or gearbox to seize, resulting in accidents, serious injury or death. Gearbox oil may cause serious harm to your skin if handled for long periods of time and on a daily ba- sis. We recommend washing your hands carefully after having handled this oil. Do not dispose of the oil into the environment. Deliver this oil to the nearest collection company for spent oil or the supplier, or have them collect it. WARNING When putting oil into the vehicle be very careful not to spill any. Immediately clean off any spilt oil, otherwise it may damage the paintwork on the vehicle. In addition, any oil that ends up on the tyres will make them extremely slippery, creating a dangerous situation. If an oil leak should arise, do not use the vehicle. Check and identify the cause of the leak and repair the component involved. ENGINE OIL DANGER Engine oil may cause serious harm to your skin if handled for long periods of time and on a daily ba- sis. We recommend washing your hands carefully after having handled this oil. Do not dispose of the oil into the environment. Deliver this oil to the nearest collection company for spent oil or the supplier, or have them collect it. When carrying out maintenance we recommend wearing latex gloves. FORK OIL DANGER Adjusting the setting on the shock absorbers and/or the viscosity of the oil used in them may partially change the reaction of the suspension. Standard oil viscosity: SAE 20 W. The viscosity grade may be chosen in relation to the type of set-up you want on the vehicle (SAE 5W soft, 20W rigid). These two products may be used in varying percentages in order to obtain the required reaction

SERVICE INFORMATION GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Remove the motorcycle frame covers before removing the front wheel. Jack the motorcycle front wheel off the ground and be careful to prevent the motorcycle from falling down. During servicing, keep oil or grease off the brake drum and brake linings. Contaminated brake disk or brake pads reduce stopping power. Clean the contaminated brake disk with high-performance brake degreaser and replace the brake pads. Do not use brake fluid for cleaning. Bleed air from the brake system if the brake system is removed or the brake is soft. Do not allow any foreign matters to enter the brake system when filling it with brake fluid. Brake fluid will damage painted surfaces and plastic parts. When servicing the brake system, use shop towels to cover and protect rubber, plastic parts and coated surfaces. Wipe off any spilled brake fluid with a clean shop towel. Inspect the brake system before riding.
