The K 1300 S with 175 hp, the K 1300 R with 173 hp and the K 1300 GT with 160 hp. The new K bikes feature updated transmission and clutch assembly, plus smoother engine performance and new switchgear. Von Kuenheim continues: “By raising capacity to 1300 cc, our engineers have not only increased output but also torque on all three models. At the same time the driveline was intensively revised from air/fuel mixture formation right through to the exhaust system. In this way we have been able to optimize partial load behavior as well as throttle response. Now the clutch can be operated with even less effort and with greater refinement. Shifting has been improved tangibly due to constructional changes to the gearbox and drive.” BMW is introducing new options for the 2009 as well. The popular Electronic Suspension Adjustment that first appeared on the 2005 K 1200 S has now been updated with even more on-the-fly adjustability and it’s called ESA II. Also new is the quick-shifter option, racing-style gear shift assistant, borrowed from BMW’s race-ready HP2 Sport. Automatic Stability Control (ASC) is also offered as an option on the new K bikes. “Both the K 1300 S and also the R will also have the shift assistant – familiar from the HP2 Sport – available as an option for the first time,” von Kuenheim emphasized. “We have also advanced the chassis. The new lower longitudinal strut is now made of aluminum and is thus considerably lighter. This makes the front wheel guidance response even more sensitive. The result of this comprehensive development work is superior handling, improved rideability and lower fuel consumption. The electronically adjustable suspension – called ESA in short – was launched as a world first on the K 1200 S. Now we are presenting the new, well-proven ESA II as an option for the K Series. Apart from the suspension and damping this unique system also allows the spring rate to be adjusted at the press of a button. The K Series model revision also heralds a new and innovative generation of switches and controls.

Run red power wire to battery leaving fuse block with the factory fuses. Make sure fuse is removed during install Attach ground wire to triple tree ground terminal. Left side cover. ( Fig. 2-1) 4. Replace factory speakers. All speakers are shipped with grills and in some cases rubber magnet covers. These are for shipping protection only. If rubber magnet covers are on the speakers, they MUST be removed prior to installation. Discard the grills and use the OEM grills to complete the installation. 5. The front and rear speakers are the same. The front speakers must be slid into the speakers mounts with the crossover network placed toward the outside of the fairing and the speaker terminals to the inside for ease of installation. When mounting the rear speakers you must use the spacers provided. Place spacer on the speaker enclosure. Then the speaker and the grill last. The rear speakers should be mounted with the crossover network toward the rear of the bike.

installation of the Champion EZ-Steer system is similar to the installation of the OEM triple clamps of your Honda VTX 1300 Motorcycle. We strongly recommend that you use your OEM service manual and follow the prescribed disassembly, installation and torque specifications (except where noted below) for the upper and lower clamp assembly. Recommended Procedures • Disconnect all wiring to headlight and remove headlight, windscreen (if so equipped) and brackets from motorcycle. • Remove handle bars from top clamp. • Remove brake caliper and brackets; disconnect all mounting points on brake lines. Secure calipers to frame being careful not to damage brake lines. • The wheel and fork tube assembly can be removed as one complete unit. • Remove caps and install supplied extensions to fork tubes using the supplied o-rings. Apply lubricant to o-rings and extensions prior to installing to fork tubes. Reinstall OEM caps and o-rings. • Remove steering lock from OEM bottom clamp and install on Champion’s bottom clamp. • Replacing the upper OEM bearing and race with the Champion supplied bearing and race, install Champion’s lower triple clamp to motorcycle reusing original hardware as removed. Torque bearing lock nut to 35 lb. ft. • Install fork tube covers to bottom clamp if supplied with OEM motorcycle. • Remove OEM nylon tube cover sliders from lower fork legs and replace with supplied sliders, if required for lower chrome covers on C models. See figure on the right. • Install Champion upper clamp with OEM washer and dome nut. Leave loose. • Slide forks up and into the upper clamp until top of extension is flush with top surface of clamp. • Torque dome nut to 75 lb. ft. • Ensure that fork tube extensions are flush with top of upper clamp. Torque upper 8mm bolts to 20 lb. ft and lower 10 mm clamp bolts to 30 lb. ft. • Install handle bars to upper clamp using OEM nut and flat washers. • Reinstall brake line holders to the lower triple clamp. • Reinstall all other OEM parts as removed. • Bleed brakes.

This mount was made to attach the HD FLH assembled fairing to the 4 fork mounting points on the VTX 1300 using the Memphis Shades mounts. This allows use of the MS allen wrench to quickly remove the fairing if needed. You will have to make or buy a headlight extension. Has to be done first. I used a 5″ x 5″ x .5″ piece of aluminum stock and made one to bump the headlight out 4″. There will be some trimming and relocating of brackets. And you’ll have to buy longer bolts to mount everything correctly. Get the headlight squared away first, then do the fairing. Take a length of 1″ aluminum angle stock and cut two 17″ pieces from it. These will be the uprights for the “H” brace. Measure 5.5″ from the bottom of one piece and center punch for a hole. Drill a large enough hole to slip over the MS mounting hardware on the forks. Start at about ½” bit and notch out as necessary. Center of this hole has to be 5.5″ from the absolute bottom of the angle iron. In the same location, drill out another notch for the bottom mounting point. A drill press is handy for these modifications and you can hog out the mounting notches with a file, dremmel, etc., until they fit. Do the same for the other length of 1″ angle stock but make sure it is a mirror image of the first one. Test fit these by mounting them to the MS fork brackets using the MS bracket hardware. Bottom notch goes in first, then the top notch. I epoxied the back “nuts” of the mounting hardware to the fork mounting brackets. It keeps it in place when you’re taking the fairing on and off the bike. On the top mounting points, I epoxied a washer with one side ground flat to the bolt’s mounting ferule. This allowed better contact between the H brace and the fork mounting bracket. Didn’t want that fairing falling off. Adjust as necessary and after the test fit, remove.

1. Tire Pressure and Rotation : Keep the nominal tire pressure at about 20-25 psi. It is not necessary to periodically rotate the trike tires unless you experience unusual tire wear. 2. Bearing Lubrication . Your Swing Arm and wheel bearings are sealed and do not require greasing. However, should you experience unusual wheel bearing noise you should take your trike to a Champion Trike Dealer or to your motorcycle mechanic for a checkup. 3. Body Lubrication . There are no grease fittings on the trike body and no required body lubrication points. 4. Rear end lubrication . Your differential comes filled with 1 quart of SAE 85W140 API GL-6 gear oil. You should not have to top-off the differential unless you experience axle seal or pinion seal leaks. Check the oil level every 10,000 miles, or sooner if you experience leaks, and refill as necessary. Do not fill higher than the fill-hole. Change the differential oil every 30,000 – 35,000 miles. 5. Brakes . Check your front and rear brake system fluid levels every 3,000 miles and top-off as necessary. Inspect brake pads every 10,000 miles and replace as necessary. Pads are Volkswagen Part # D101P. 6. Drive Train . If your driveshaft U-joint and/or spline are fitted with grease fittings, pump the fittings with wheel- bearing, graphite or high-pressure grease every 3000 to 5,000 miles. If yours does not have grease fittings then lubrication is not required. 7. Suspension System : The suspension system is designed to give you the best ride with a load of no more than 500 pounds (passengers plus cargo plus trailer tongue weight)

1) Place motorcycle on a firm level surface and secure in a upright position. 2) Remove saddle bags and saddle bag hardware (Tourer model only) Also remove rear riders pegs (Tourer model requires removal of rear footpeg offset hardware as well) 3) Attach bracket A (right) / B (left) to rear footpeg attachment point using new bolts provided. Remount footpegs/saddlebag hardware over top of brackets A/B. NOTE: Do not attach leveling stand bracket at this time 4) Attach bracket C(right) / D(left) to rear fender sub frame using new bolts provided. (Tourer model only – Saddle bag hardware mounts to the outside of brackets C/D. Brackets C/D mount between chrome side rail and saddlebag hardware.) NOTE: Brackets C/D have welded spacers which attach in toward rear fender 5) Attach top of Bracket E(right) / F(left) to rear of brackets C/D. Brackets E/F mount to the inside of brackets C/D. NOTE: Use ½ inch spacer between brackets E/F and C/D on Tourer model ONLY
6) Attach rear of brackets A/B to TOP of forward hitch arms. Attach bottom to brackets E/F to rear hitch plate. 7) Carefully tighten all bolts at this time ensuring hitch is square with motorcycle. Hitch Bracket Identification Leveling stand screw jack installation 1) Attach leveling stand brackets to brackets A and B 2) Thread right side screw jack into threaded hole on leveling stand bracket attached to bracket A sand adjust leveling jack bolt out. 3) Push motorcycle over from left side until right screw jack is touching floor. 4) Thread left side screw jack into threaded hole on leveling stand bracket attached to bracket B and adjust out until motorcycle will rest upright on both screw jacks. 5) Adjust screw jacks until motorcycle is level. 6) After InstaTrike is attached to or removed from receiver hitch, be sure to remove leveling stands and leveling stand brackets. CAUTION – Use screw jacks to hold motorcycle upright and level ONLY. Do not lift motorcycle with screw jacks. CAUTION – Use care when installing screw jacks. Be certain that motorcycle is always in a stable balanced position.
INSTALLATION OF THE TOW-PAC HITCH CART. 1. Place your motorcycle on a smooth flat surface, like a garage floor, and install leveling stands. Install right leveling stand first. Carefully raise motorcycle off of side stand and install left leveling stand. Caution – Use leveling stands to level motorcycle ONLY. Do not raise motorcycle with stands Caution – Be certain that motorcycle is always in a stable balanced position when installing leveling stands. 2. Assemble the axles, tires and wheels, and fenders onto the tow- pac hitch cart. 3. Carefully align the tow-pac hitch cart’s hitch mount with the receiver hitch on the motorcycle. Now push the hitch mount into the receiver hitch. (this might be a little difficult until you get use to doing it. Removing the paint from the hitch mount and applying a little grease will help.) 4. Place the hitch pin through the receiver hitch and hitch mount ( alignment plate ). Install and tighten the tension bolt

1. Install the bracket (Stamped 439-P, supplied) to the motorcycle chassis using the 10 x 20mm hex head bolt (supplied) and two of the stock mount bolts in the bottom holes (Figure 3). 2. Remove exhaust system and heat shields from protective packaging and place them on a non-abrasive surface such as a blanket or carpet. Using a non-permanent marker or tape, mark outside edge of each heat shield to show location of mounting clips that the hose clamps will loop through (Figure 4). 3. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the stock O2 sensor and install it into the header assembly. NOTE: Be careful not to overtighten or get anti-seize compound on the sensor tip as this could damage or affect the sensor function. 4. Carefully lay header assembly into the heat shields and loosely install the hose clamps #20 on head pipe heat shields and #24 on collector heat shield (supplied) by feeding the tail end of the clamp into the heat shield clips. Take note of screw head direction (Figure 5), for adjustment purposes they must be accessible when system is installed. NOTE: Do not tighten the clamps at this time. 5. Using stock dome nuts, carefully install system into exhaust ports. (Assistance may be required). NOTE: Install but do not tighten the exhaust nuts at this time. 6. Remove the muffl er heat shield and baffl e assembly from their protective packaging. Place them on a non-abrasive surface such as a blanket or carpet. 7. Insert the large hose clamp (#56, supplied) into the clip on the muffl er heat shield. 8. Carefully slide the baffl e assembly (without damaging the fi berglass packing) into the muffl er heat shield and align the holes in the heatshield with those in the baffl e. Secure the baffl e with the 1/4-20 x 1/2″ button head screws (supplied) and tighten the hose clamp. 9. Install the 5/16″ x 1 1/4″ hex head bolt, washers and locknut (supplied) in the muffl er clamp (supplied) and slip the clamp over the end of the baffl e tube. 10. Slide nut plate (supplied) inside the bracket welded to backside of baffl e (Figure 6). 11. Install the muffl er assembly onto the collector, making sure it slides forward enough to align the edge of the bracket welded to the baffl e with the edge of the mounting bracket. 12. Attach the muffl er assembly to the mounting bracket using the 5/16″ x 5/8″ fl ange head bolts (supplied). 13. Tighten exhaust port nuts evenly on both cylinders. 14. Tighten the muffl er clamp and the 5/16″ fl ange head bolts, securing the muffl er assembly. 15. Insert the O2 sensor plug back into harness and tuck harness back into its original position. Reinstall the cover. 16. Check alignment of heat shields making sure the ends meet squarely to the collector heat shield. Tighten the hose clamps on all the heat shields when properly aligned. 17. Reinstall right side passenger and rider fl oorboards and tighten the 12mm bolts. 18. Check for adequate clearance between all exhaust system components and motorcycle accessories prone to heat damage. 19. All hardware must be properly tightened and the exhaust pipes thoroughly clean before starting motorcycle

1. Be sure the main switch is in the off position during the installation process. Failure to do this will cause the “check engine” light to be set. 2. Remove seat exposing the tool tray and battery. 3. Remove the (2) 12mm Hex head bolts securing rear of tank. Prop up the rear of the tank. 4. Locate and unplug the white 4-pin connector under left side of tank as shown in figure 1. 5. Route Fuelpak as shown in figure 2. Plug Fuelpak white connectors to the factory connectors unplugged in step 4. 6. Connect brown and green wires to the negative side of the battery. 7. Route Fuelpak long black wire under right side of tank and down to the horn as shown in figure 3. Disconnect the factory black / white wire from horn. Plug in Fuelpak long black wire to horn and then connect factory black / white wire to terminal on Fuelpak black wire. 8. Locate the throttle position sensor on the throttle body located on right side of the tank. As shown in figure 4, attach T-tap to yellow / black wire on throttle position sensor. Connect Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap. 9. Using supplied Velcro, mount Fuelpak next to tool tray as shown in figure 5. 10. Reinstall tank with (2) 12mm Hex head bolts removed in step 3. 11. You are now ready to set-up your Fuelpak 1. Remove Fuelpak clear case cover by removing all four screws, save hardware . 2. Turn on main power with key, but do not start engine. Fuelpak display should light up, if not, turn power off and verify the connectors are fully seated. 3. Refer to Fuelpak Setting Reference to locate the Setting Values specific to your bike and exhaust system. If you do not find your setting, visit fuelpakfi.com or call tech support at (562) 921-0071. 4. Starting with mode 1 selected, press the value (+) or the value (-) buttons to input the correct value as indicated in your Setting Value. After entering your first value, press the mode select button to move to mode 2 and enter the value. Continue until you have entered the value for each of the first 18 mode positions. Each time the value (+) is pressed, the value increases by one number. Each time the value (-) is pressed, the value decreases by one number. (Please refer to the “How It Works” section directly above if you have questions about this step. 5. As the next procedure, after you have entered in your values for the first 18 modes, press the mode select button to move to mode 19. Fully twist open the throttle and return to idle position to calibrate the Fuelpak to your bike. 6. By pressing the mode select button twice, move to mode 21 and verify that it reads “0″ with the throttle closed, “50″ at approximately half-throttle and “99″ when fully opened; if not, repeat step 5.
