passengers weighing approximately less than 100 pounds, depending on their seating position. It is important for the front seat passengers to know that proper operation of the advanced frontal airbag system is highly dependent on the pressure placed on the seat bottom. Situations that add or subtract sensed weight can result in occupant misclassification. To minimize this situation: Check seating posture. Passengers should be seated upright with their back against the seat back and feet on the floor. Check loading conditions. Extra weight from items, such as bags or groceries or toys, hanging on the seat back can add to the sensed weight of the front seat passenger. A rear seat passenger lifting the front seat with their legs, objects placed under the front seat, or the front seatback in contact with the rear seat can subtract from the sensed weight of the front seat passenger. If the passenger airbag indicator lamp continues to switch ON to OFF after checking the above conditions, perform the following repair procedure. NOTE: The safest place for children is in the rear seat. Please note that Toyota recommends that you never install a rear-facing child restraint in the front passenger seat, even if the passenger “Airbag OFF” lamp is illuminated. Please refer to you Owner’s Manual for additional details. 2004 – 2005 model year Camry, Highlander, and Solara vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown on the following page. 2005 model year Matrix and Corolla vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown on the following page

Occupant Classification System (OCS) that will enable or disable the passenger front and side airbags based on occupancy, passenger weight and seat belt latch position. Passenger front and side airbags will automatically be disabled for children and small adults when weight on the seat is less than approximately 80 lbs. (36 kg). This system will clearly indicate that the passenger airbags are enabled “ON” or disabled “OFF.” Early production models of the 2004 Solara were built with an amber-colored PASSENGER AIRBAG light. To better differentiate the PASSENGER AIRBAG light from warning lights, it has been changed to white in color. This color change does not have any effect on the meaning or operation of the light. This light remains on at all times with the key in the ON position. In the event of an OCS malfunction, both the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) warning light and passenger airbag “OFF” indicator lights will illuminate. After finding SRS code B1650 on Camry and Solara vehicles, or a B1150 on Highlander vehicles, the next step is to check codes in the OCCUPANT DETECT menu on the Diagnostic Tester. Take necessary steps to diagnose the root cause of the OCS DTC code BEFORE initializing the system

this TSB provides detailed instructions for a new LEV II EVAP System Check function using the Diagnostic Tester. The LEV II System Check allows the Diagnostic Tester to display the fuel tank vapor pressure as the EVAP VSV and the CCV are operated in a specific six-step pattern. Problems with the EVAP system are quickly isolated by observing the change in vapor pressure during each step. Once the vehicle condition is corrected, the LEV II System Check can also be used to confirm the repair before the vehicle is returned to the customer. The inspection procedure using the LEV II System Check (LEV II SYS CHECK) is described in this bulletin. This function is available using a Diagnostic Tester with version 11.0a software (or newer
