Sport Bike Damper Kit Installation Instructions DISCLAIMER: All GPR Sport Bike damper kits are manufactured to be used ONLY w/ the stock top triple clamp and frame. If either is modded, aftermarket or crash damaged, the kit will not install properly and GPR will not be held responsible for the consequences of improper installation due to this or any other improper mounting or modifying. The provided instructions must be followed precisely, as failure to do so can result in the GPR damper kit being installed incorrectly. An improper installation may lead to a variety of undesirable steering problems. Please take your time and carefully follow the installation instructions. As always, give us a call if you have any questions, we’re more than happy to assist you in getting the damper kit mounted on your bike properly 1. Remove the stock Steering Stem Nut (SSN) and washer from the stock top triple clamp steering stem. Carefully set the stock nut aside, as you may be using it later. Bikes requiring a specific GPR SSN to replace the stock SSN are listed at the end of this installation sheet. If your bike is on the chart, throw you stock SSN in the toolbox along w/ the washer, as you may need it at a later date if for any reason you need to remove the GPR kit from your bike. Stock SSN’s that are either ‘domed’ at the top or ‘flanged’ at the bottom will definitely NOT work, may lead to problems and should NOT be reinstalled during the baseplate installation. See #2 below for further instructions about both SSN/Steering stem and arm clearance issues 2. With the stock SSN and washer removed, place the GPR Baseplate over the steering stem on the top triple clamp and reinstall either the stock SSN or the GPR SSN provided. Torque SSN down to the recommended specs as per the owner’s manual for your particular bikes make and model. NEVER reinstall the stock washer that came on the bike! The baseplate is now your new washer. If you do accidentally use the stock washer, the arm on the stabilizer will most likely ‘rub’ on the nut. It will be too high, potentially locking the steering and handlebars, thus making your bike un steerable and unridable. DO NOT ride your bike until all installation steps have been completed and you can visually verify that there is clearance between the arm of the stabilizer and the steering stem and/or SSN. REMOVAL 1. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions to disarm the security system. For All Models except 2002-2003 Touring and 2003- Later Softail: Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions to disconnect the battery, negative (-) cable first or remove the main fuse. For 2002-2003 Touring and 2003-Later Softail Models: Remove seat following the instructions in the service manual and disconnect the battery, negative (-) cable first. Save seat hardware for installation. INSTALLATION 2002-2006 VRSCA, VRSCB, VRSCD Models 1. Open the seat. 2. See Figure 1. Remove the splash guard (mud flap) nuts. 3. See Figure 2. Lower the mud flap from the installed position and allow it to rest on the rear tire 3. Slide the siren into place on the left side of the electrical caddy so the sounder disc (6) faces out. 4. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions to install the main fuse. 5. Align the barbed studs on the side cover with the grommets in the frame and push side cover firmly into place. 6. Install the left side saddlebag per the instructions in the owner’s manual. 2003 and later Softail Models EXCEPT FXCW/C 1. Remove the right side saddlebag (if equipped) per the instructions in the owner’s manual. NOTE The siren connector is installed on an electrical panel under the rear fender on all Softail models. The rear of the motorcycle may have to be raised slightly to allow removal of the splash guard. 2. Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the splash guard. Bend the upper right corner of the splash guard toward the rear tire and lift upward to unhook the splash guard from the tab on the rear fork. Remove the siren connector [142B] (2) from the receptacle in the siren mounting area (1) of the electrical panel. 4. See Figure 17. Insert security siren (1) connector [142B] into the siren box receptacle until the connector latches securely. 5. Orient the siren (1) as shown, with the harness connector (2) toward the bottom and the sounder disc (5) facing out. Carefully snap the siren into the electrical panel. 6. Insert the siren harness lead (4) into the harness clip (3) to keep the harness clear of other components. 7. If necessary, secure the connector wiring to the electrical panel wiring with a cable strap (not provided). 8. Hook the slot at the top of the splash guard over the tab on the rear fork and install the guard with the two screws removed earlier. Tighten securely. 9. Install the right side saddlebag (if equipped) per the instructions in the owner’s manual. 10. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions given to connect the battery cables or install the main fuse

REMOVAL 1. Support the motorcycle so the front end is off the floor and the forks are fully extended. 2. Remove the front fender, front brake caliper(s) and front wheel according to instructions found in the Chassis section of the appropriate service manual. NOTE On some models other parts will also need to be removed to access the front forks. See the service manual. 3. For All Models EXCEPT Touring: Drain and remove the front forks. See the service manual. 4. For Touring models equipped with air-adjustable suspension: Bleed the air-adjustable suspension according to the instructions in the appropriate service manual. Wear safety glasses or goggles when servicing fork assembly. Do not remove slider tube caps without relieving spring preload or caps and springs can fly out, which could result in death or serious injury. (00297a) 5. For 2000 and Later Models EXCEPT Touring: See Figure 1. Using a piece of dental floss (or similar material) in a back and forth motion, loosen reflector from fork slider at both ends. Rotate reflector from side-to-side until it can be removed. Save reflector for future use. See Figure 2. Repeat procedure on the opposite side fork slider. Peel off any excess adhesive from both reflectors . Surface must be clean for installation. 6. Disassemble the front fork tubes according to instructions in the service manual. INSTALLATION NOTES The chrome fork sliders included in this kit install in the same manner as the original equipment parts. Refer to the service manual for proper installation procedures. Prior to installation of this kit, check the bores of the new chrome sliders to be certain they are free of dirt and debris or damage to the new sliders may occur. 1. Assemble the front fork tubes, replacing worn seals, bushings or other items as needed. NOTE Do not use an impact wrench to tighten the drain screws. Use of an impact wrench may damage the screws. 2. Tighten the drain screws: •Early Models with 39 mm forks (see Figure 2): Tighten to 13-17 in-lbs (1.5-1.9 Nm) •Early Models with 41 mm forks (see Figure 2): Tighten to 52-78 in-lbs (5.8-8.8 Nm) •Later Models (see Figure 3): Tighten to 52-78 in-lbs (5.8- 8.8 Nm) 3. Fill with TYPE E FORK OIL (99884-80) according to the instructions in the service manual. 4. Install the front fork and any parts that were removed to access the front forks. Install the front fender, wheel and caliper(s) according to instructions in the service manual. 5. For Touring models equipped with air-adjustable suspension: Refill the air-adjustable suspension system after assembly according to the service manual instruc- tions

Remove Stock Shift Lever and Footrest Assembly 1. See Figure 1. Loosen the shift lever retaining screw (2) securing the shift lever (1) to the shifter shaft. Slide the shift lever off the splined shaft. Remove shifter peg from lever and save for installation. Discard shift lever. 2. Remove the two socket head screws (4) securing the footrest bracket (3) to the frame and remove footrest. Discard screws. 3. See Figure 6. Obtain two hole plugs (1) from kit and firmly press plugs into frame screw holes remaining from footrest removal. 4. See Figure 2. Remove the retaining ring (1) from the clevis to free the footrest clevis pin (4). Remove the clevis pin and footrest (3) from the footrest support. Save footrest for installation. Remove Left Footrest from Support Remove Stock Brake Pedal and Footrest Assembly 1. See Figure 3. At the right footrest, remove the retaining ring (1) clevis pin (2), footrest (3) and spring washer (4). Discard all hardware but save footrest for installation. 2. Remove the exhaust to access the brake rod. Follow the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 3. Remove brake rod (5) from brake pedal and master cylinder bell crank. Discard brake rod INSTALLATION Install Forward Control Brake Pedal and Footrest Assemblies 1. See Figure 5 and Figure 6. At the lower front of the right frame downtube, remove the two screws securing the J- clip (B) to the frame. Discard the screws but save J-clip for installation. 2. Install the other end of the brake rod into the brake pedal assembly (8). Tighten to 84-144 in-lbs (9.5-16.3 Nm) . NOTE Assemble the brake pedal and footpeg clevis onto the footrest support bracket (as described in the next step) prior to mounting the support bracket to the frame. This will allow easier installation of the footrest mount clevis retaining ring (installed to grooved end of footrest mount clevis). 3. Slide the brake pedal (8) onto footrest mount clevis (11) then slide clevis into footrest/brake pedal support bracket (9). Align hole in the clevis with hole in the support bracket and install screw (6). Tighten the screw to 18-22 ft-lbs (24.4-29.9 Nm) . 4. Install the footrest mount clevis retaining ring (18) to the groove at the end of the footpeg clevis. 5. Position the J-clip (from Step 1) against the frame aligning the mounting holes. Mount the footrest/brake pedal support bracket (9) and J-clip to frame using the new screws (3). Tighten the bracket to 45-50 ft-lbs (61.1- 67.9 Nm) . 6. Obtain the brake rod (15) from kit and thread one end into the master cylinder bell crank. Tighten to 120-180 in-lbs (13.6-20.3 Nm) . 7. Install footpeg on clevis with spring washer (2). Make sure spring washer is positioned inside clevis (11) with the square edge toward the inside. Align holes and push clevis pin (7) from top down through hole in clevis. Secure clevis pin using the new retaining ring (17). 8. Install exhaust following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. Install Forward Control Shift Lever Assembly

INSTALLATION NOTE Do not use solvent-based chemicals or waxes directly on the plastic or rubber components as they can affect the overall performance and appearance of the plastic and rubber. Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 1. Refer to Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the battery cables, negative (-) cable first. Retain all seat mounting hardware. Receiver Mounting Bracket Installation When servicing the fuel system, do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks in the vicinity. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00330a) 2. ALL models: See FUEL TANK: REMOVAL in the appropriate section (Carbureted or EFI Engine) of the Service Manual for instructions to remove the tank. 3. Using a T-27 TORX drive head, remove the two screws that retain the clutch-lever clamp to the handlebar. 4. See Figure 4. Obtain the correct mounting bracket (2) for your vehicle, and two button-head screws (3) and spacers (4) from the kit. Insert the button-head screws into the mounting bracket, through the holes above and below the slot. Place a spacer over the threads of each screw. Insert the screw threads into the holes in the clutch lever clamp removed earlier. 5. Adjust the hand lever position for rider comfort and posture, then tighten the screws to 60-80 in-lbs (6.8-9.0 Nm) . Receiver and Antenna Bracket Installation 6. Obtain the satellite radio receiver (1), antenna bracket (6), and four lock nuts (8) from the kit. Insert the four studs on the back of the receiver through the four holes in the receiver mounting bracket. 7. See Figure 4 for mounted position of the antenna bracket to the receiver mounting bracket. Assemble a lock nut to each of the bottom two studs. Install the antenna bracket onto the top two studs, and assemble a lock nut to each top stud. Tighten the locknuts securely. Antenna Installation 8. Obtain the XM radio antenna (5) and two-sided adhesive tape (7) from the kit. 9. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the horizontal antenna mounting surface of the antenna bracket, and the bottom (mounting) surface of the antenna. 10. Peel the liner from one side of the tape, and apply the tape squarely to the bottom surface of the antenna. 11. Peel the liner from the exposed side of the adhesive tape on the antenna base. 12. Position the antenna over the bracket without touching the adhesive to the bracket. Center the antenna over the bracket with the antenna cable toward the center of the vehicle. 13. Press the antenna squarely and firmly onto the bracket, and hold pressure for about 60 seconds. After releasing pressure, avoid direct contact with the antenna for about 20 minutes. EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING 1. Under the oil tank on the right hand side, locate the rear O² sensor connector. Unplug sensor and feed the end of wire through the frame freeing it from motorcycle. NOTE: Pay attention to wire routing for re-installation. 2. Open the plastic cover above the rectifier on front of the frame to access to the front O² sensor connector. Unplug sensor from harness. Remove ZIPSTRIP holding wire to frame and feed the wire through freeing it from motorcycle. 3. On floorboard equipped models, loosen the right hand floorboard mounting bolts to gain clearance for exhaust removal and installation. 4. Loosen the heat shield clamps on both front and rear exhaust pipes. 5. Remove the mounting nuts from each head pipe, located at the cylinder head. 6. Remove the nuts attaching the exhaust mount bracket to the frame. 7. On FLSTD and FLSTF models, you will need to remove the right side passenger foot peg and hanger, as this is attached to the exhaust mount bracket. Replace the passenger foot peg assembly using the BOLT 14 Allen bolt (supplied). 8. Remove the entire exhaust system and set it aside. 9. Remove the two lower mounting studs from the frame See figure 1 . Recommended replacement exhaust port gaskets, H-D P/N: 65324-83A. 10. Carefully remove exhaust port flanges and circlips from the stock exhaust system using snapring pliers. See figure 2 . NOTE: Replace bent or damaged circlips. Check exhaust port gasket condition. 11. Remove O² sensors from stock head pipe and set aside for re-installation on your new RUSH exhaust system. PAGE 1 OF 4 RUSH RACING PRODUCTS EXHAUST SYSTEM INSTALLATION P/N 7020 – 7120 BEFORE INSTALLATION PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS 1. Remove header and heat shields from protective packaging. Place each heat shield on a non-abrasive surface such as a blanket or carpet. Using a felt tip pen, mark outside edge of each heat shield to show location of mounting clips that hose clamps will loop through See figure 3. 2. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the O² sensors and install them into the new head pipe. NOTE: Be careful not to get anti-seize on sensor tip, it may affect sensor function. 3. Install circlips and flanges from stock system onto the new head pipe See Figure 2. Note: Replace circlips if bent or damaged 4. Attach BRKT-007 to frame using two BOLT 12 Tighten to factory specs. 5. Install complete assembly into exhaust ports (rear port first). Use stock flange nuts, Do Not Tighten .
