The black figures in black background indicate total miles traveled. Indicating lamp or turning light It flashes when turning light is in use. Fuel Gauge Fuel Gauge indicates the remaining fuel in the fuel tank (the gauge does not work when main switch is in the “OFF” position). The gauge moves from “F”(full) to “E” (empty) as fuel decreases in the fuel tank. Fill the tank with 90 Octane or higher gasoline when the needle is approaching the “E” position. There is no reserve tank. Indicating Lamp of High beam It indicates high beam is in use. Note: apply low beam to avoid obstructing the view of oncoming drivers and drivers ahead. 1. Speedometer 2. Steering Lock Turn the handle bar fully to the left to lock the steering to prevent theft. If the clamp is installed incorrectly under the speed sensor, remove and reinstall the clamp and speed sensor correctly. Torque the bolts,. Torque: 12 N • m (1.2 kgf • m, 9 lbf • ft) If the speed sensor wire clamp for the front ABS speed sensor is installed incorrectly, the ABS speed sensor air gap may be out of specification. This does not affect ABS speed sensor operation, but the clamp should be installed correctly. Inspect and repair all affected units using the Inspection/Repair procedures listed below. Inspect all unsold units and customer units brought in for service. INSPECTION/ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE 1. Remove the right engine side cover (see S/M Page 2-4). 2. Check the cable clearance on the N (neutral) and R (reverse) cables. Note: It is not necessary to remove the center inner fairing or inspect the reverse shift actuator. . 6. Push the reverse shift switch to “OFF” and turn off the ignition. 7. Tighten the reverse cable lock nuts. 8. Reinstall the right engine side cover. PARTS INFORMATION No parts are required for this procedure. WARRANTY INFORMATION Normal warranty. After completion of the inspection/adjustment, submit one claim per VIN using the following information only: Template #: GL#5 Flat Rate Time = 0.3 hours The reverse cable lock nuts may not have been properly tightened on some GL1800 units. Once the download of S&S Freedom Performance Tuner has been installed on your PC, double click the icon on your desk top. Picture 3 illustrates the S&S Freedom Performance Tuner icon. 2- Enter in your Username and Password and click the login button. Your Username and Password for logging in will be the same as your login for Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 3 3 – Once you’re logged onto S&S® Freedom® Performance Tuner, click on the Year and Model of the bike you’re performing the work on in the middle of the page as illustrated in Picture 4. 4 – Click on the Select Vehicle tab at the bottom of the page as illustrated in Picture 5. The tabs on the left side of the page will now be illuminated. (any parts exclusive to the older models including the pre-1999 SP model are not permitted to be used on machines in this series). The only eligible models are designated as Euro 2 & Euro 3 New machines are supplied with race kits included through: IN Competition Unit 1 New Lane Burscough Lancs 2. DISPLACEMENT CAPACITY The displacement must remain at 124.9cc and the bore and stroke (54 x 54.5) must remain as originally produced. 3. MINIMUM WEIGHT The minimum weight at post race control must not be less than 102kg , this includes oil and water but excludes fuel. At any time during the event, the weight of the whole machine (including the tank) must not be less than the minimum weight, with a tolerance of 1kg. 4. NUMBER PLATE COLOURS The background colours and figures for Aprilia Superteens are: FRONT RED background with WHITE numbers – Nitro Newcomers Class BLACK background with WHITE numbers – Aprilia Championship Class REAR BLACK background with WHITE numbers – Both Classes Placed in accordance with the ACU regulations. 5. CARBURATION INSTRUMENTS Carburation instruments must remain as homologated. Carburettor jets and needles may be replaced. No modification, polishing or cutting is allowed. Only the 28mm bodied standard carburettor is permitted. Electronic or mechanical enriching devices must remain installed and active (If the carburettor is changed from one model to another, the appropriate wiring loom must also be installed and be operative). Bell mouths must be as originally produced by the manufacturer for the homologated machine. Throttle must be standard, quick action throttles are not permitted.
6. FUEL All machines must function on normal unleaded fuel with a maximum lead content of 0.005 g/l (unleaded) and a maximum MON of 90 (RON 102 max) and be readily available from roadside service stations nationwide. E85 Bio Fuel is also permitted when purchased from normal roadside outlets. 7. FRAME BODY AND REAR SUBFRAME Frame must remain as originally produced by the manufacturer and may not be painted. The sides of the frame body may be covered by a protective part made of composite material of the original frame colour. Nothing can be added by welding or removed by machining from the frame body. Engine mounting brackets or plates must remain as originally produced by the manufacturer. Bolt on accessories to the rear sub-frame may be removed. 8. FRONT FORKS Forks structure (spindle, stanchions, bridges, stem etc) must remain as originally produced by the manufacturer. Standard original internal parts of the forks may be modified. After market damper kits or valves may be installed. The fork caps can be modified or changed to add spring preload/compression and damping adjusters. Dust seals can be modified, changed or removed providing the fork remains totally oil sealed. Any quantity or quality of oil can be used in the front forks. The height and position of the front fork in relation to the fork crowns is free. A steering damper may be added but may not act as a steering lock device. 9. REAR FORK (Swing Arm)

Disconnect battery, negative cable first. 2. See Figure 1. Remove seat and locate ignition module. 3. Remove the two nuts that hold the ignition module in place. 4. Unplug the two module connectors and remove module. 5. Plug in new module and secure module in place with nuts removed in step 3. Tighten nuts to 15-21 in-lbs (1.7-2.4 Nm). 6. Disconnect spark plug cables from coil towers, noting their positions for reinstallation on new coil. ® Kit Numbers 32737-98, 32738-98, 32739-98 Figure 1. Ignition Module i01020 1 of 2 NOTE The spark plug cables have numbers printed on them that correspond to numbers adjacent to the coil towers on the coil. 7. See Figure 2. Making note of wiring positions, disconnect primary wire plug from back of coil by gently prying up latch and pulling connector rearward. 8. Remove mounting bolt and remove existing ignition coil. 9. Install new coil with mounting bolt removed in previous step. Tighten bolt to 2-6 ft-lbs (3-8 Nm). 10. Plug in primary wire connector into back of coil. 11. Connect spark plug cables to new ignition coil. 1 WARNING Always connect the positive battery cable first. If the positive cable should contact ground with the negative cable installed, the resulting sparks may cause a battery explosion resulting in personal injury. 12. Reconnect battery cables, positive cable first. 13. Check engine timing according to procedures in applicable XLH Service Manual.

Kits 41017-00, 41026-00 and 41262-03 are designed for installation on 2000 and later XL, FXD and 2000-2002 Softail Model Motorcycles (except FXSTD and FLSTS). Kits 41260-03, 41261-03 and 41265-03 are designed for installation on 2003 and later Softail Model Motorcycles (except FXSTD and FLSTS). Kit Numbers 41017-00 and 41261-03 contain a16 inch chrome slotted rear wheel. Kit Numbers 41026-00 and 41260-03 contain a 16 inch chrome fatboy rear wheel. Kit Numbers 41262-03 and 41265-03 contain a 16 inch mirror chrome disc rear wheel. See Service Parts Illustration for kit contents. nstallation Do not re-use brake disc screws. New screws are provided for disc installation. Re-using original disc screws can result in torque loss and damage to rotor and/ or brake assembly. (00319a) Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for wheel removal and installation procedures. See Service Parts Illustration. This kit contains the necessary parts for wheel installation, however you will need to save the Axle, Axle Nut, Brake Disc, and the Drive Pulley with related hardware for reinstallation. NOTE The cotter pin or spring clip for the axle nut must be replaced. They are available for purchase from your dealer. See your dealer for the correct part number for your model motorcycle. NOTE Apply two drops of LOCTITE THREADLOCKER 262 (red) to each of the five sprocket mounting screws. Follow the bolt torque procedure in your service manual or, if installing an accessory hardware kit, in the I-sheet included with the hardware kit. Maintenance and Cleaning Chrome parts must be maintained regularly to ensure that they keep their original shine and luster. 1. Clean heavily-soiled wheel surfaces using Harley Wheel & Tire Cleaner Part Number 94658-98 applied with Harley Wheel & Spoke Brush Part Number 43078-99. 2. Thoroughly clean chrome with a good quality chrome cleaner, such as Harley Bright Chrome Cleaner Part Number 94683-99. 3.
