(00049a) 1.1995 MODELS, REMOVAL OF ELECTRONIC SPEEDOMETER AND BRACKET 1a. Refer to applicable Service Manual procedure and remove seat. 1b. Refer to applicable Service Manual procedure and remove fuel tank. Stop the engine when refueling or servicing the fuel system. Do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks near gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00002a) 1c. Remove speedometer sensor cable from mounting clips under tank. See Figure 1. The 3-place speedometer sensor connector [65] is located on the frame beneath the seat. Remove connector from t-stud and disconnect. Cut cable tie holding sensor wires to right rear frame tube. 1d. Refer to applicable Service Manual procedure and remove headlamp, for work clearance. 1e Remove handlebar clamp screws securing speedometer bracket. Remove speedometer, bracket, and harness. 2.1995 MODELS, DISCONNECT MAIN WIRING HARNESS 8-PLACE CONNECTOR [21B, A] (FIGURE 2) 2a. Disconnect the battery, negative cable first. Refer to applicable Service Manual procedure and disconnect main wiring harness 8-place connector [21A, B], at the front of the motorcycle. 3.1995 MODELS, REMOVE SPEEDOMETER LEADS FROM 8-PLACE CONNECTOR [21B, A] (FIGURE 2) 3a. See Figure 2 and Service Manual wiring schematic. Pull the following wires and terminals out of connector [21B]. Wire Color Cavity Number Orange/white 5 White/green 1 Black 2 3b. Remove the large female connector from the fuel gauge black wire. 3c. Remove the screws that secure the indicator lamps assembly to the speedometer bracket. Retain screws and indicator lamps assembly for installation on speedometer/tachometer bracket later. 5.1995 MODELS, REMOVE SPEEDOMETER FROM BRACKET 5a. Unscrew boot from speedometer reset switch. Remove cover screws and rear cover. 5b. See Figure 3. Note position of rear speedometer gasket and remove it. Push on rear of speedometer while simultaneously pulling speedometer and front gasket from bracket. Do not remove front gasket from the speedometer. 6.1995 MODELS, INSTALL SPEEDOMETER IN KIT BRACKET 6a. See Figure 5. Place wires from speedometer through front of left opening in double bracket. Lubricate the front and rear gaskets with isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaner to ease installation. 6b. Insert speedometer into the front of the double bracket. Be sure wire guides are aligned with opening at bottom of bracket. 6c. Place rear gasket in position and align gasket tabs. Work gasket into space between speedometer and bracket by pushing speedometer against one side of bracket while pushing gasket into position at the opposite side. 6d. Add amber bulb assembly from kit to speedometer in order for tachometer and speedometer backlighting to match. 6e. Replace cover and boot from reset switch.

INSTALLATION ON 2004 MODELS 1. Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the battery ground cable before proceeding. 2. Refer to Figures 2 and 3 for wiring details. 3. Remove the Gill Module. 4. Cut off the OE 18 terminal AMP connector used with the Gill module. Refer to the terminal list. Crimp new Deutsch terminals on the wires, and install into the 12 terminal Deutsch connector required by the TC88A-IH module. 5. Install the new TC88A-IH module. 6. Reconnect the battery ground cable. INSTALLATION ON 2005 AND LATER MODELS 1. Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the battery ground cable before proceeding. 2. Refer to Figures 4 and 5 for wiring details. 3. Remove the Gill Module. 4. Cut off the OE 18 terminal AMP connector used with the Gill module. 5. The crankshaft position (CKP), MAP, and engine temperature (ET) sensor share a common ground Daytona Twin Tec LLC, 933 Beville Road, Suite 101-H, S. Trace the BK/GN ground return wires from terminal B of the ET sensor and terminal A of the MAP sensor to where they join the BK/GY ground return wire from the CKP sensor. Cut the ET and MAP sensor ground return wires off at this point. You can tape up the ground return wire from the ET sensor – this wire will not be used. 7. Extend the ground return wire from terminal A of the MAP sensor up to the ignition module, crimp on a Deutsch terminal and install in position 4 on the Deutsch connector. 8. Refer to the terminal list. Crimp new Deutsch terminals on the remaining wires, and install into the 12 terminal Deutsch connector required by the TC88A-IH module. 9. Use a DVM to verify isolation (no continuity) between terminals 4 and 9 on the Deutsch connector. 10. Verify continuity between terminal A at the MAP sensor and terminal 4 on the Deutsch connector. 11. Verify continuity between terminal 2 at the CKP sensor and terminal 9 on the on the Deutsch connector. 12. Install the new TC88A-IH module. 13. Reconnect the battery ground cable. Removing the Cam Chain Drive System. NOTES Changing camshafts and cam drives in the 2006-up Harley-Davidson® Twin Cam 88® engines is different than in pervious engines. Procedures require use • of some special tools. Installation should be done by an experienced mechanic with access to factory service manual and required tools. Tighten all fasteners to the correct specifications and in order described. Always use an accurate torque wench. • Incorrect installation can cause engine damage not covered under warranty. CAUTION Failure to install components correctly can result in sudden engine seizure. Engine seizure may result in serous injury to motorcycle operator, passenger, or others. A- Disconnect the battery ground cable to eliminate potential sparks and inadvertently engagement of the starter while working on the motorcycle. B- Remove spark plugs and pushrod cover clips. Collapse the pushrod covers to expose the pushrods. C- Safely elevate and stabilize the rear of the motorcycle. Place the transmission in high gear. Turn the rear wheel to rotate the engine until both lifters and pushrods for either cylinder are at the lowest point on the camshaft (TDC of compression stroke). Both intake and exhaust pushrods for that cylinder will be under pressure from the valve springs and will rotate with light finger pressure. NOTE: 510G camshafts may use stock style non-adjustable pushrods instead of adjustable pushrods. If installing non-adjustable pushrods, disassemble and assemble rocker boxes per H-D® instructions. All other S&S® gear driven cams require installing adjustable pushrods. As a time-saving measure, the stock pushrods can be removed with bolt cutters. Be sure to head caution and warnings of these instructions. D- Cut the pushrods for the cylinder that is at TDC with the bolt cutter and remove the pushrod covers from the engine. Rotate the engine to place the pushrods for the other cylinder at their lowest point. Cut and remove the remaining pushrods. WARNING CAUTION Cutting pushrods with a saw or cutoff wheel may result in debris entering the engine, causing engine damage not covered under warranty. WARNING Cutting pushrods without releasing spring pressure, by rotating the engine until tappets are at the lowest point of travel can result in bodily injury. E- Remove the pushrod covers and lifters form the crankcase. F- Remove engine cam cover and gasket. Secure lifers with a tool made from a large binder clip

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE Note: All Evolution® “Big Twin” pistons are marked “Front” or “Rear” and come with rings, wrist pins, and locks. • Note: We highly recommend that a dealer or trained mechanic perform the installation of these pistons. Specialized equipment is required for honing and finishing the cylinders to ensure long life of the piston and cylinder assembly. 1. Remove original equipment cylinders from engine. Refer to a shop manual or other reference book for specific steps, if needed. (Note: Care should be taken not to bend the studs or damage the cylinder during removal of the cylinders.) 2. With a small screwdriver, move the wrist pin retainer around to gain access to the tail of the retainer as it lines up with the notch in the bottom of the wrist pin hole. 3. Use a small screwdriver, pick or awl to roll the wrist pin retainer out of its groove. 4. Push wrist pin out and remove piston. 5. Repeat procedure for the other piston. 6. At this point, take cylinders, new pistons, and piston-to-wall clearance specifications to your dealer or machine shop to perform necessary machining operations. • IMPORTANT NOTE (Evolution® and Twin Cam®): The cylinder bore must be machined/honed to provide .0025″ of piston-to-wall clearance. Measure the piston diameter at a point .500″ up from the lower skirt (See Figure 3). 7. Starting with the front cylinder, install new piston rings and one wrist pin retaining clip (Note: Second ring has a dot which must face up when the ring is installed) . 8. Place the piston over the conecting rod, making sure that the intake valve pocket is towards the intake side. (For Evolution ® , see Figure 1. For Twin Cam ® , see Figure 2) . Coat the wrist pin with engine oil and insert it into the piston. Install the second wrist pin retainer into the groove. 9. Lightly coat the piston skirt with engine oil. Place a piston ring compressor over the piston/ring assembly and compress. Place the cylinder over the piston and gently push down until all rings are in the cylinder. Remove the ring compressor, and push the cylinder the rest of the way down. (Note: Be careful not to get oil onto the base gasket.) 10. Place two nuts and washers on opposite corners of the #1 cylinder to hold it down while you repeat the procedure for cylinder #2. 11. Assemble the rest of the engine per factory specifications. Start the engine and let it run at 2000 rpm for about 10 minutes.

Removing the Old Speedometer NOTE This Instruction Sheet covers several different Harley- Davidson models and years. Make sure you locate and follow the procedures that apply to the motorcycle receiving the new gauge. 1. Apply power to motorcycle and record the odometer reading. 2. Remove the seat according to the procedure in the applicable Service Manual. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative cable first) before proceeding. (00048a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 2. Disconnect battery cables, negative cable first. NOTE Cover the fuel tank with clean shop towels to prevent scratching. Damage to the finish could result. 3. Remove the instrument console acorn nut (and mounting screw with a flat washer on some models). Lay clean shop towels on the fuel tank. Lift the console from the fuel tank, turn it upside down and lay it on the towels. NOTE If necessary, bend back the flexible metal clip to free the harness conduit from the underside of the console. 4. Unplug the 12-terminal connector (39B) from the back of the speedometer. Depress the external latches and use a rocking motion to separate the pin and socket halves. 5. Remove the back clamp: All models except FXSTD: Gently pry the three latches upward to release the back clamp from the back of the speedometer. FXSTD: Depress the three external legs of the lock ring, then gently pry the three latches upward to release the back clamp from the back of the speedometer. 6. Unscrew the trip-meter reset button, and pull the harness from the clamp (remove the screw if necessary). 7. Lift the console and remove the old speedometer from the console. Discard the old speedometer, but retain the rubber gasket and back clamp for use with the new gauge. NOTE Set the console securely on the towel-covered fuel tank, and take care that it doesn’t fall off during the following opera- tions. 8. Set the console securelyon the fuel tank. Installation and Final Check NOTE Apply window cleaning fluid or mild soapy water to the speedometer gasket as needed to aid installation. 1. Turn the console over, facing upward. 2. Place the speedometer gasket into position around the console speedometer bore. 3. Fit the new gauge into the bore so that it fits snugly against the rubber gasket. Rotate the gauge into approximate visual alignment. The back clamp will complete the alignment. 4. Turn the console over, face down. 5. Install the back clamp

Wipe up spilled fuel immediately and dispose of rags in a suitable manner. (00256a) NOTES Installing this kit requires removal and installation of the cam support plate. Refer to the service manual for instructions with the following exception pertaining to cam compartment compo- nents: The crank and primary cam sprocket flange bolts are specially hardened, and the flat washers are of a special diameter and have ground surfaces. Use ONLY the parts provided in the Drive Gear Retention Kit (H-D Part Number 25533-99A, sold separately) when installing this kit. -J04804 1 of 7
The cr ank sprocket flange bolts and pr imary cam sproc ket flange bolts ARE NOT interchangeable. 2. Refer to the service manual to remove and discard the crank sprocket flange bolts and primary cam sprocket flange bolts and washers. 3. For 1999 models only: Refer to the service manual to remove and discard the currently installed cam drive sprocket. 4. Refer to the service manual to remove and disassemble the cams from the support plate and oil pump. Discard the support plate and oil pump. 5. For 1999 – 2000 Dyna, 2000 Softail, 1999 – 2000 Touring, and 2001 EFI Touring models only: Inspect the cams, chain, sprockets and chain tensioners for wear, and replace as needed. Refer to the service manual for inspection and replacement procedures. For 2001 – 2005 Dyna, 2001 – 2006 Softail, 2002 – 2006 Touring, and 2001 carbureted Touring models only: Inspect the cams and secondary cam chain for wear, and replace as needed. Refer to the service manual for inspection and replacement procedures. The primary cam chain, primary sprockets and both tensioners will be replaced by new components from the kit. For ALL models and years: Discard the guide, as it will not be used. INSTALLATION 1. ALL models: See Figure 1. Obtain the new Rear Cam Roller Bearing Kit (H-D Part Number 8983) from inside the Cam Service Kit (H-D Part Number 17045-99C, purchased separately), and install as indicated in Step 2. NOTE See Figure 2. If not enough of the splined shaft is exposed to install the sprocket, omit the spacer (4) and proceed to Step 2e. When the bearing inner race is started onto the machined area, remove the flange bolt (5), flat washer (6) and sprocket, then assemble using the spacer (4). Repeat Step 2e to fully install bearing inner race. To center thrust washer, be sure o-ring is installed in relief groove. Damage to bearing cage and engine can occur if thrust washer is not centered. (00473b) 2. See Figure 1. Install the O-ring (5), thrust washer (4) and bearing inner race (3) onto the rear camshaft as follows: a. See Figure 2. To properly locate the thrust washer (2), install the O-ring (3) in the grinding relief groove on the splined end of the rear camshaft between the machined area and the secondary cam sprocket.

1 Remove the seat. 2 Remove saddlebags if installed. 3 Remove left and right side covers. 4 Remove the battery (negative terminal first). 5 Loosen the two 7/16 nuts that retain the ECU (Fig. A) 6 From the left side (underneath the left side cover area) feed the PC III connectors in front of battery tray, and out the right side (in front of the ECU bracket)( Fig. B). 7 Attach PC III module to battery box. First, clean the PCII and battery box with the supplied alcohol wipe. Using the supplied velcro attach PCIII to the battery box. Also secure the unit with the included zip ties. If your bike has cruise control, attach the unit to the face of the cruise control module (Fig. C). 8 Disconnect the large connector from the ECU. Remove the rubber dust shield. 9 Install the dust shield onto the matching connector on the PC III. Zip tie the rubber dust shield to the PC III connector with zip tie provided. 10 Plug the PC III connector into the stock ECU. 11 Plug stock connector into the remaining connector fromthe PCIII(Fig. D). 12 Tighten the two 7/16 nuts that retain the ECU. 13 Route the connectors alongside the ECU and install the right side cover. 14 Replace the battery, the left side cover and the seat. 8 5 Adjusting Your Power Commander Your Power Commander has been programmed with a base map for your application. You can adjust the base map or install an alternate map using your Computer. Please refer to the supplied CD-Rom for more information. You can also adjust your Power Commander using the face plate buttons as described below. 1. With the ignition off, hold down all three buttons on the Power Commander II unit. 2. While still holding down the buttons, turn the ignition on. 3. Release buttons. 4. Select the range you wish to adjust: Low, Med, High, by pushing the corresponding button once. 5. At this point holding that button down will move the lights down ( leaning out the mixture). 6. Pushing the button repeatedly will move the light up (richening the mixture). 7. When the two center light are lit up this is the “0″ setting. After making your adjustments wait 20 seconds before starting the bike or turning it off. This allows the settings to be saved to memory. To verify that it is safe to start the bike, move the throttle and watch to see if the lights move up and down the scale. If they do, you may start or turn off the bike

1. Disconnect the battery, and remove the fuel tank. 2. On engines with the oil tank above the engine, drain the engine oil. 3. Remove the front exhaust pipe to clear the Cam Housing Cover. 4. Remove the Rocker Covers and remove the four 5/16″ bolts and the two 1/4″ bolts holding the rocker arms in place. With the rocker arms removed, remove the stock pushrods. 5. Remove the push rod tube retaining clips and push rod tubes. 6. At this point, you may remove the lifter covers and take the lifters out, or you can make a lifter holding tool from a binder clip as shown in Figure 1 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Remove the cam housing cover keeping the bolts in a separate cup. ( Note: Oil will run out of the cam housing.) 9. Using the Chain Tensioner Unloader Tool, unload pressure on the outside chain tensioner, and pin it in place with the retaining pin (See Figure 2) .

Remove the seat. Remove or raise the fuel tank. The tank needs to be raised enough to give access to the fuel injectors and TPS wires. Unplug the front injector. On the FI Controller, there are 2 pairs of injector connectors. Plug the pair with the orange wires into the front cylinder injector harness and front cylinder injector. Repeat this using the other connector pair and the rear cylinder injector. Locate the TPS connector behind the throttle body. STEP 1 STEP3 STEP2 Installation Part# DFCH-2 2 Rear Cylinder Injector Front Cylinder Injector TPS Connector STEP 3 STEP 2 STEP1 Unplug the connector from the TPS. Crimp the wire tap onto the wire that is grey with a purple stripe. This wire should be in position “C” on the connector. Plug the grey wire from the FI Controller into the wire tap. Run the wiring harness for the FI Controller from the engine to the seat. Make sure that it will not get damaged when you reinstall the tank. Use one of the wire ties to tie the wires to the frame, away from the cylinder head. Place the FI Controller where you plan on mounting it permanently. In most cases, this will be under the seat. Connect the ground lug (black wire) to a grounding point on the bike. Use the Velcro tape to mount the FI Controller in position. Use alcohol swab to clean mounting surface prior to attaching Velcro. Speed Sensor Installation: The microSpeed™ speedometer can be used with either +12V or +5V hall effect electronic sensors located in transmission. Sensor is not include. If your sensor operates on +5V DC wire speedometer to sensor and power as shown in Figure 2 below. Please note that color of wires from the sensor may vary, check sensor documentation for proper signal connections. For +12V sensor you will not need the Blue wire of the microSpeed™ speedometer. It may be cut short, but make sure that the end is properly protected so that it will not accidentally short to metal on the motorcycle. Use Figure 3 below for wiring a +12V sensor. H-D motorcycles 1999 and earlier used +12V sensors. H-D motorcycles 2000 and later use +5V sensors. Note: H-D OEM sensors require 20Kohm resistor(provided) between Sensor power and Sensor signal as shown. Procedure: 1. Locate wires and determine connection points. Cut wires and techflex to proper lengths. 2. Connect speedometer wires to proper signal wires as shown in diagrams, including 20K ohm resistor if using stock H-D sensor. Use either butt connectors provided or customer supplied connectors. 3. Use electrical tape or Heat Shrink tubing around sensor signal wire, sensor power, and resistor to protect resistor. 4.
