The clutch lever is pulled to the handlebar (the clutch switch is closed) and the side- stand is up (the sidestand switch is closed). The starting circuit cut-off relay prevents the starter motor from operating when neither of these conditions has been met. In this instance, the starting circuit cut-off relay is open so current cannot reach the starter motor. When at least one of the above conditions has been met the starting circuit cut-off relay is closed and the engine can be started by pressing the starter switch. Step 1) Wire Connection: Using 18-gauge automotive wire, connect the audio alert relay as shown in the Wiring Diagram – Figure 1. • Connect the supplied wire from #3 terminal on the audio alert relay to the oil pressure switch post. Note: The supplied wire is not reversible. The eyelet end must hook to the oil pressure switch. • Connect a wire from #2 terminal on the audio alert relay to the ignition switch post that receives power when the ignition switch is first turned on. • Connect a wire from #1 terminal on relay to the positive side of existing horn, or alternate sound device. • Note: The audio alert relay uses the oil pressure switch as its ground. On most motorcycles, this audio alert relay can be installed easily under the dash. Figure 1- Wiring Diagram Cot a Oil Pressure Switch Ignition Switch Audio Alert Relay 2 1 3 load Horn + + – Caution: Make sure all connections are insulated away from potential grounds. Do not disconnect any existing wire. Step 2) Testing : Turn ignition switch on and ensure oil pressure light is on. Leave ignition switch on. Wait 30 sec (T1) and ensure the audio alarm sounds for ½ second (T2). If the electrical test is successful, proceed to Step 3. If not, you may have to use a pezio alert in place of the horn. (Which is available at most Radio Shack stores.) If audio alert still doesn’t work, consult the wiring diagram and recheck all wiring connections. Verify timer set points have not been altered. If problems persist, contact us at (518) 884-9591. Step 3) Mount relay switch: Use standard zip ties (not provided) or similar means to mount the relay to dash mount post or dash base. Note: The timer relay can be mounted almost anywhere on the bike that will not be exposed to direct rain or weather

1. Remove seat, tank and shrouds. Remove existing hot start lever, cable and valve from the carburetor. 2. Tip: Clean all dirt from hot start bore and mating surfaces on the carburetor body with gas and a q-tip. 3. Tip: Use a small amount of Teflon tape (one wrap) on the threads of the aluminum mounting nut to ensure a water tight seal. 4. Install the Pro EFX hot start valve in the hot start bore (as shown in picture), with return spring, impact washer and delrin plunger in place. • Tip: Installation of the solenoid valve may require temporary rotation of the carburetor away from the top engine mount bracket. • Install with the solenoid valve assembly disconnected from wiring harness. • Screw in by hand and finish tightening with needle nose pliers. Do not over-tighten. Solenoid valve assembly: 5. Mount activation switch on preferred handle bar location. Pictured on clutch side, in place of the stock kill switch.
6. Route wiring harness around steering column and down frame backbone. Insert battery leads through slot in rubber protective boot. (follow existing wiring to battery) 7. Connect positive (red) and negative (black) leads to motorcycle battery. 8. Connect male and female terminals to wiring harness on previously installed solenoid valve assembly. 9. Depress activation button and listen for valve actuation. Plunger should freely “snap” between open and closed position in hot start bore, as activation button is depressed and released. If you don’t hear the valve “snap” open and closed, follow the trouble shooting guidelines or call /email for support. 10. Maintenance: Periodically ensure proper tightness of solenoid valve in carburetor body as part of standard motorcycle maintenance. Keep the battery terminal connections free from corrosion.

1) Remove seat. 2) Refer to service manual to locate the following wires: An ignition signal that has power while the ignition is in the “ON” position. Terminal 30 on start relay . A “CRANK” signal (start signal) that has power while the starter motor is being activated. Terminal 86 on start relay . 3) Locate a mounting position for the module that will fit in front of or next to the battery. DO NOT MOUNT the module until all connections to the module have been made. 4) Verify the operation of the ignition and crank signals using the voltmeter or test light. Disconnect battery and make the following connections: • Connect the Blue wire from the lamp module to the ignition feed wire Terminal 30 on start relay . • Connect the Grey wire from the lamp module to the starter crank feed Terminal 86 on start relay . • Connect the Red wire from the module to one end of the fuse harness provided in the kit. • Crimp a ring terminal to the other end of the fuse harness (for connection the POSITIVE battery terminal) . • Crimp a ring terminal to the Black wire from the module. This will need to be routed to the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery • Do not in any way (lengthened or shortened) . Ensure that the ballast is close enough to the lamp to use the length of cable provided. 5) Securely mount ballast in chosen location. Plug the 2 wire sealed connector (RED AND BLACK 16 AWG WIRES) to the ballast. Route the Red and Black wires along the frame, and follow the harness under the fuel tank (recommended) to the battery compartment. Connect the Orange wire from the lamp module to the red wire from the ballast using connector. Crimp ring terminal to black wire coming from the ballast, and connect to the NEGATIVE battery terminal. • IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT THE BALLAST BE MOUNTED IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO ECU OR FUEL INJECTION WIRING. • Do not mount near sources of high heat (i.e. Cylinder head or exhaust manifold) . • Do not mount in a location where there is a possibility of mechanical interference from moving parts (i.e. Steering components or linkage) . • There is a 3-foot length of cable provided for connection between the BALLAST and the HID LAMP. This cable MUST NOT be modified in any way (lengthened or shortened) . Ensure that the ballast is close enough to the lamp to use the length of cable provided
