The Akrapovic Slip-On system is designed for recreational Honda CRF 450 enthusiasts. It delivers an excellent combination of quality, performance, visual enhancement, easy installation and affordability. The Akrapovic Slip-On is designed for two markets; in the US it is available with an approved spark arrester, and for the EU and other non-US markets it comes with a noise damper. PERFORMANCE Measurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system on the HONDA CRF 450 R (with muffler insert): Power & Torque: Up to 5600 rpm the Akrapovic Slip-On essentially follows the stock power and torque curves. It shows its true colors above that range, where it delivers significant increases to both power and torque. Max. increased power of 2.8 HP was measured at 6600 rpm. At the top of the rpm range the Akrapovic curves again follow the stock power and torque curves. CONFIGURATION The system is composed of a flared stainless steel link pipe which is welded to the muffler. It is attached to the stock header assembly with a sleeve joint secured with a metal clamp. The muffler is the offroad design with a titanium outer sleeve, and stainless steel inlet cap, outlet cap and inner perforation. The muffler is attached to the frame using an Akrapovic carbon-fiber clamp. In the US the system is available with an approved spark arrester, and for the EU and other non-US markets it comes with a standard noise damper

The CRF/XR50 engineers never intended “large” people to be competitively thrashing their design. As a result, failed frames are becoming quite common at the track. Laid-out forks, tweaked, ill-functioning suspensions and bent frames are symptoms we’ve all witnessed. This CRF/XR50 frame kit addresses all these problems with not only a stronger framer but also with added knee-to-bar clearance for taller riders.. Features: • Heat-treated chromoly steel frame • TIG welded • Fully gusseted • Thicker-walled main tube that is also larger in diameter • Conservatively estimated at 4 times stronger than the stock unit • Race legal open cradle configuration, but with fully closed loop rear sub frame under the seat for added strength and safety • Stronger swing arm pivot area prevents wallowing • Frame is 1″ longer than stock, resulting in greatly enhanced handling characteristics This Chromoly 1″ longer frame with chromoly removable subframe is the off the hook! It features a detachable chromoly subframe with all hardware as well as a 1″ rise in gas tank and seat height for more more leg room and to allow bigger carburetor modifications. Extended frame also provides: • Much needed knee-to-bar clearance • Improved rider position • Better Center of Gravity • Better control Features: • Heat-treated chromoly steel frame • TIG welded • Fully gusseted • Thicker-walled main tube that is also larger in diameter • Conservatively estimated at 4 times stronger than the stock unit • Race legal open cradle configuration, but with fully closed loop rear sub frame under the seat for added strength and safety • Stronger swing arm pivot area prevents wallowing • Frame is 1″ longer than stock, resulting in greatly enhanced handling characteristics • Gas Tank is raised 1″ for added clearance

Depress and hold the engine stop button (2) until the engine stops completely. Failure to close the fuel valve may cause the carburetor to overflow, result in hard starting. Emergency Engine Stop To stop the engine in an emergency, press the engine stop button. Basic Operating Instructions 15 Help assure your CRF’s future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you ride during the first operating day or 15 miles (25 km). During this period, avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration. This same procedure should be followed each time when: •piston is replaced •piston rings are replaced •cylinder is replaced •crankshaft or crank bearings are replaced Break-in Guidelines 16 Basic Operating Instructions Servicing Your Honda 17 Servicing Your Honda Keeping your CRF well maintained is absolutely essential to your safety. It’s also a good way to protect your investment, get maximum performance, avoid breakdowns, and have more fun. To help keep your CRF in good shape, this section includes a Maintenance Schedule for required servicing and step-by-step instructions for specific maintenance tasks. You’ll also find important safety precautions, information on oils, and tips for keeping your Honda looking good. 1. Pump the rear brake pedal four times. •If the brake pedal feels spongy, bleed the brake system per the Service Manual. After verifying proper brake system operation, proceed to step 2 below. •If the brake pedal does not feel spongy, proceed to step 2 below. 2. Place the motorcycle on its side stand, with the handlebars in the full left position . Lock the handlebars. 3. Place a scissor jack directly under the left front brake caliper as shown in the illustration. To avoid damage to the caliper, place a protective piece of rubber (such as a piece of inner tube) between the caliper and the jack. Wind up the jack until the front wheel is approximately 15 mm off the ground. 4. Measure the distance from the secondary master cylinder piston mounting bolt to the edge of the secondary master cylinder body (rod length of the secondary master cylinder). Record this measurement . • If the measured length is 30.3 mm, replace the PCV per the Service Manual. (This length indicates the unit’s secondary master cylinder is fully stroked, which means there is no hydraulic brake pressure acting on the PCV.) After replacing the PCV, proceed to the IDENTIFICATION section of this Service Bulletin. •If the measured length is longer than 30.3 mm , proceed to step 5 below. • INSPECTION/REPAIR PROCEDURE Record this measurement. Pump the rear brake pedal four times.

Proceed to the IDENTIFICATION section of this Service Bulletin. 7. Check the PCV for leakage. • If the PCV is leaking , replace the PCV per the Service Manual. After replacing the PCV, proceed to the IDENTIFICATION section of this Service Bulletin. • If the PCV is not leaking , you must diagnose the brake system problem before proceeding. After you have diagnosed and repaired the brake system, proceed to the IDENTIFICATION section of this Service Bulletin. Honda CRF/ TRX 450R Camshaft Installation

Break-in of this camshaft is important and you should adhere to all of the following instructions. It is also very important to use plenty of engine assembly lubricant, recommended is Coastal Engine Assembly Lube or Clevite 77, both are available from most automotive supply companies. We recommend you change the engine oil before the initial start-up of the engine after the assembly. Then change the oil again after the break-in of the cams to remove the excess
phosphate from the coated cams. These steps will help ensure that the camshaft breaks-in properly and that you have a long lasting product. Using full synthetic engine oil during break-in is not recommended but, is OK to use after the one-hour break-in period is over. Following a regular maintenance schedule is the best way to ensure durability and performance over the long run. Cleanliness is always a good place to start. Make sure the motorcycle is cleaned thoroughly before you start. It would be advisable to use an engine degreaser on the frame and the engine. Remove the fuel tank and thoroughly clean the inside of the frame rails, around the carburetor, and behind the radiators. Be sure to remove the ignition coil assembly and using high-pressure air, clean the spark plug hole out before the plug is removed. This will ensure a clean engine during the assembly process and less of a chance of thread damage and/or dirt contamination in the engine during reassembly
