INSTALLATION NOTES Clean the controller mounting area and the areas where the light pods will be mounted with soap and water before beginning the installation, and allow to dry thoroughly. Remove debris, dirt and grime from the vehicle areas to be highlighted. Ambient temperature should be at least 50 °F (10 °C) for proper adhesion of the light pods and controller box to vehicle surfaces. Light pods should not be located closer than 2.5 inches (63.5 mm) from exhaust pipes or mufflers, and must have 1.5 inches (38.1 mm) clearance from engine cylinders and heads. Do not install light pods with the light source facing directly away from the vehicle. Installation should be done in a way that allows the light to be seen indirectly by reflecting from chrome or painted surfaces of the vehicle. Prepare the Motorcycle To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative (-) cable first) before proceeding. (00307a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 1. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions given to disconnect the battery cables, negative (-) cable first. NOTE For 2004 and later XL (Sportster®) models, the negative battery cable is most easily disconnected at the engine crankcase . Locate and Install the Controller NOTE Do not mount the controller box in a location where vehicle suspension travel could result in contact with the ON/OFF switch or dimmer control. Damage to the controller box will occur. 2. See Figure 2. Locate the controller box (10) on a flat surface that will allow the red (+) and black (-) leads to reach the battery terminals and the rider to access the controls (with the vehicle parked) and, if necessary, the in-line fuse holder (A). a. Test-fit the controller box to the selected surface before installation. Do not remove the adhesive backing until ready to attach the controller box. b. Clean the controller box mounting area with one of the included alcohol swabs. Allow to dry thoroughly. c. Remove the liner from the adhesive backing of the controller box. Carefully position the controller box to the surface, and press firmly into place. Hold the controller box in position with steady pressure for about one minute. Connect the Battery Cables NOTE Verify that the ignition/light key switch is in the OFF position before attaching the battery cables. 3. Verify that the ignition/key switch is turned to the OFF position. Apply a light coat of Harley-Davidson electrical contact lubricant (part number 99861-02), petroleum jelly or corrosion retardant material to the battery terminals. Connect positive (+) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00068a) 4. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions given to install first the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable then the red (+) light pod controller lead ring terminal to the positive (+) battery terminal. Tighten to owner’s manual specifications. Install first the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable then the black (-) light pod controller lead ring terminal to the negative (-) battery terminal. Tighten to owner’s manual specifications. Arrange the Electra-Glo Light Pods NOTES Electra-Glo light pods (1) can be installed in a variety of locations. They are best installed on a flat surface to provide indirect lighting illuminating mechanical features, vehicle finish or for ground effects. Refer to the notes at the beginning of the Installation section. 5. Select the area or lines of the motorcycle to highlight, and suitable locations for each light pod. DO NOT permanently affix the light pods at this time. Lightly tape the pods in place temporarily until the desired visual effect is achieved Verify clearance from movement of rubber mounted engine or other moving parts, heat sources, or chafe points

1. The Stage IV controller can be mounted in numerous places. Placement depends on personal preferences. Only mount in locations where no damage may occur from sharp or hot objects. 4. Start the UTV and in approximately four seconds the lights on the Stage IV controller will be visible. With a proper install, you should see lights going from side to side on the controller. This will last approximately eight seconds and then will stop. After lights have stopped going side to side, you will notice a great light on the left side of the controller. When you rev the motor, lights will increase across the controller and even change colors. 5. Double check all fasteners and connections. 7. The Stage IV controller has been programmed for ultimate performance when using Trinity Racing’s Stage IV exhaust system and Powerflow intake system on an otherwise stock engine. Different products, modifications, or other conditions may require additional adjustments. Please refer to Basic Tuning Adjustments and all final fuel adjustments are the customer’s responsibility. 8. You are now ready to ride! Enjoy your new Stage IV fuel management controller! Basic Tuning Adjustments 1. The following instructions are for basic fuel tuning. Modes 1,2, & 3 are allowing adjustments to increase and decrease the amount of fuel the engine needs. Modes 4 & 5 are for advanced tuning only. DO NOT change modes 4 & 5 when doing basic tuning! 2. To help understand how these modes work, you can think of them as if you were working with a carburetor. 3. Remember each time you push the MODE button you will be advancing to the next mode. Push the MODE button once and you are now in mode 1, push the MODE button again and you are now in mode 2 and so on. You only need to be concerned with modes 1, 2 & 3 for basic tuning. Modes 4 & 5 are for advanced tuning ONLY. 4. If you need to go back to the settings that were pre programmed when you purchased the controller, just look at the picture in each mode, the colored square represents where the settings were when you purchased the controller. 5. Looking at the controller you will see eight lights with numbers under them, this is what you need to look at when changing settings. The #1 light on the controller represents the leanest setting

STEP 1 Determine a location for the Wild Things Module. Once the Wild Things Module location has been established, layout and cut the wires to length. STEP 2 Locate the switch power lead. We try most often to use the tail light switch power. If you locate the tail light connector we give you the color of the power wire within that connector. (Check the base settings page). Our information covers the most common application. STEP 3 The black wire from the Module is the ground. Again you have flexibility. You might choose the negative side of the battery. Or a common grounding lug, which your stock wire harness is using. Use the ring terminal for the ground, supplied in the kit. You may cut a section out of the ring out, allowing you to slip the terminal under the bolt. STEP 4 Locate the ECU. In the ECU harness, locate the injector wires and attach T-taps to these leads as shown in the illustrations on the suggested settings page. Connect the blue and gray leads from the TFI to these T-taps using insulators and spades as before, also, it does not matter which of the blue or gray leads attach to the injector leads. -cont.- BY DOBECK PERFORMANCE FITS: HONDA—’02-UP VTX1800; KAWASAKI—’99-UP VN1500/VN1600/VN 2000 (ALL EFI MODELS); SUZUKI—’04-UP 1600 MARAUDER/BOULEVARD M95; VICTORY—’98-UP ALL MODELS; YAMAHA—’02-UP ROAD STAR WARRIOR 9218-13MC-1005 WILD THINGS FUEL INJECTION CONTROLLER 9218 INSTALLATION STEP 5 Turn the key on and check for a flashing green LED. If yes, go to STEP 6. If you have no flashing green LED, re-check power and ground wiring. STEP 6 Start the bike. This unit is programmed to not add fuel at idle, this will cause all the LED’s to flash at idle, this is normal. If just the green or red LED’s continue flashing after startup, an injector wiring error is indicated. If the green LED is flashing re-check the blue wire from the TFI is connected to the proper wire of your bikes stock harness. If the red LED is flashing re-check the gray wire from the TFI is connected to the proper wire of your bikes stock harness. Make sure you have the correct wires selected in the stock harness.

Battery The battery is located under panel D. (See page 6-7 for panel removal and installation procedures.) This motorcycle is equipped with a sealed-type (MF) battery, which does not require any maintenance. There is no need to check the electrolyte or to add distilled water. To charge the battery Have a Yamaha dealer charge the battery as soon as possible if it seems to have discharged. Keep in mind that the battery tends to discharge more quickly if the motorcycle is equipped with optional electrical accessories. EW000116 WARNING ● Electrolyte is poisonous and dangerous since it contains sulfuric acid, which causes severe burns. Avoid any contact with skin, eyes or clothing and always shield your eyes when working near batteries. In case of contact, administer the following FIRST AID. •EXTERNAL: Flush with plenty of water. •INTERNAL: Drink large quantities of water or milk and immediately call a physician. •EYES: Flush with water for 15minutes and seek prompt medical attention. ● Batteries produce explosive hydrogen gas. Therefore, keep sparks, flames, cigarettes, etc., away from the battery and provide sufficient ventilation when charging it in an enclosed space. ● KEEP THIS AND ALL BATTERIES OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. To store the battery 1. If the motorcycle will not be used for more than one month, remove the battery, fully charge it, and then place it in a cool, dry place. 2. If the battery will be stored for more than two months, check it at least once a month and fully charge it if necessary. 3. Fully charge the battery before in- stallation Replacing the fuses The fuse box, which contains the fuses for the individual circuits, is located under panel D. The fuel injection system fuse box is located under panel D. The main fuse box is also located under panel D, beside the battery. (See page 6-7 for panel removal and installation procedures.) If a fuse is blown, replace it as follows. 1. Turn the key to “OFF” and turn off the electrical circuit in question. 2. Remove the blown fuse, and then install a new fuse of the specified amperage.
