Vehicles with power antennas may exhibit audible electrical noise on weak AM stations when various electrical accessories (turn signals, rear defogger, cruise control, brakes, etc.) are operated. Poor antenna grounding can cause this condition. To eliminate or reduce the intensity of the noise, use the following repair procedure: AM STATIC NOISE ON VEHICLES WITH POWER ANTENNAS Page 1 of 2 OCTOBER 25, 1996 AUDIO AU002-96 ALL MODELS REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Tune the radio to a strong, static-free AM station and slowly move the tip of the antenna
mast forward and back approximately 2 inches (Fig. 1). If static noise is not heard, go to Step 2. If static noise is heard during antenna movement, replace the antenna mast and go to Step 3. NOTE: Do not touch the antenna mast with your bare hands. Use a glove or nonmetallic object to move the antenna. (If you touch the antenna with your hands, you will change the antenna sensitivity). 2. Remove the antenna mast and inspect the base of the mast for corrosion and damage (Fig. 2). Clean with 1500 grit sandpaper. 3. Remove the antenna assembly and inspect the inner fender around the antenna hole for corrosion (Fig. 3). Clean with 1500 grit sandpaper.

See the IDENTIFICATION section of this Ser- vice Bulletin for more details. • If there is a punch mark – No further action is necessary. • If there is no punch mark – You must pro- ceed with the REPAIR PROCEDURE sec- tion of this Service Bulletin. NOTE: Units repaired in the warehouse may not be reflected on iN at the begin- ning of the campaign. For this reason, always check the VIN stamp prior to per- forming this repair. If you have any questions about repair verifi- cation, please contact your DSeM or TechLine at (800) 421-1900, option 9. NOTE: Refer to section 2-7 of the 2003-2008 VTX1300C/R/S/T Service Manual for specific fuel tank removal instructions. 1. Remove the fuel tank using the procedure in the Service Manual. However, do not remove the fuel valve from the fuel tank. 2. Drain the fuel into an approved container. 3. Remove the four screws and diaphragm cover. NOTE: The diaphragm cover is under spring pressure. Do not lose the spring or screws. The countermeasure part has a paint mark near the air vent hole. 4. Replace the diaphragm, spring, cover, and screws with new parts included in the kit. Install the new diaphragm with the plastic retainer facing the diaphragm cover. NOTE: Make sure the air vent hole is facing downward towards the ground. 5. Reinstall the fuel tank using the procedures in the Service Manual. 6. Refill the fuel tank

Anew intermediate shaft has been developed to address this condition. Use the following repair procedure to remove and replace the steering intermediate shaft. Install a steering wheel lock to ensure the wheels are straight and the steering wheel is centered before removing the steering intermediate shaft. Instruction Manual > Your saddlebag supports will install in just a few minutes using common tools. Read all instructions carefully and completely before installing your new saddlebag supports. 1. Remove your stock fender rail bolts. 2. Place the supplied spacers in the recessed holes on the fender rails (large spacer to the front, small spacer to the rear). 3. Install your Cobra saddlebag supports using the supplied button head bolts (where the stock bolts were removed) the saddlebag supports should hang towards the rear and away from the motorcycle. 4. Torque bolts to factory specifications. Note: If using Cobra sissy bar mount the saddlebag supports over the sissy bar brackets and do not use supplied spacers. Cobra recommends you always wear a helmet while riding. Please never operate your motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. NOTE: Use the same procedure for the LH side as the RH side. 1. Place the window in the down position. 2. Remove the window run. Completely remove the double-sided tape remaining on the frame. 3. Thoroughly clean the door frame using a white body shop towel and Kent Acrysol. NOTE: Do NOT use red shop towels. These towels contain silicone. 4. Install the door glass window run. A. Position the glass run at the No. 2 and No. 3 corners of the door frame and then attach the middle part of the run. B. Insert the glass run into the window run channels. NOTE: Do NOT apply water or lubricant to the glass run when inserting it into the door. Make sure the glass run fits securely into the holes of the door frame
