Program Requirements i. All grantees must abide by the Ohio Administrative Rules, the Motorcycle Ohio Policy and Procedure Manual, MO office guidance and memorandums provided during the course of the year. The Ohio Administrative Rules and the Policy and Procedure Manual is available on the grant application website. ii. Grantees must offer the Basic Rider Course and may choose to offer any of the other approved courses. iii. Grantees must contract with instructors from the Motorcycle Ohio certified instructor list. Instructors must teach a minimum number of courses, for any grantee or combination of grantees, to remain on the certified list the following year (See Admin. Rules). While grantees have the right to contract with whom they wish, MO encourages grantees to use multiple instructors so they may maintain their certification to teach within the Ohio program. This will benefit the pool of instructors used by all grantees. iv. Grantees must abide by the MO Peer Observers and Quality Assurance (QA) programs which will be administered by the state office. These are two programs MO uses to maintain quality control. The peer observer program is a resource provided to motorcycle safety instructors. It serves to provide a quality rider education program by assisting each individual instructor in developing exceptional teaching abilities. Peer observers are active MO instructors who are trained in peer observer techniques and guidelines. The QA program is administered by the state to assist in maintaining the high standards of the program. QA individuals are trained instructors that visit grantees to verify that administrative rules and program standards are met.

1. Remove the plastic caps covering the brake and clutch master cylinder clamp bolts, remove the clamp bolts and clamps. Pull the master cylinders away from the handlebars and let them rest on the fairing storage compartment covers. 2. Using a heat gun or a hair dryer warm up the old lamps one at a time until they are hot to the touch then carefully peel them away from the switch housings. 3. Remove any remaining adhesive from the old lamps left on the housings using rubbing alcohol. Locate the wire harness to the lamp connectors covered with heat shrink tubing. Using a sharp knife carefully cut the heat shrink tubing open lengthwise. Carefully taking caution to not cut the wires, peel the heat shrink tubing open, then away and off the connection. Unplug the lamps from the harness. Replace any of the gold pin connectors on the harness if needed with the new ones supplied. 4. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the gold pins and wire harness ends. Carefully plug the gold pins from the harness onto the lamp connectors (NOTE: the metal connectors on the lamps can break if bent from side to side).Turn on the ignition and verify that all three lamps are working. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the connections and shrink using a heat gun, hair dryer or lighter being careful not to melt the lamp ends. 5. Using your heat gun or hair dryer warm one of the switch housings and the matching lamp so that they are hot to the touch (about 140 degrees). Peel the backing from the lamp, carefully place in position, press firmly onto housing, wrap the tail of the lamp with the wires around the housing and then rub over the entire lamp firmly several times to ensure good adhesion. 6. Reassemble the master cylinders and clamps onto the handlebars being careful not to pinch the wires or lamps.

INSTALLATION 1. Unsnap the original equipment (O.E.) left-side glove box door, and unfasten the tether by bringing the aglet end (see Figure 1, B) out through the retaining hole. Always wear proper eye protection when drilling or grinding. Flying debris could cause serious eye injury. (00402e) 2. Using an 3/16 inch (5 mm) bit positioned in the center of each snap, drill out the four plastic snaps surrounding the glove box opening. NOTE The glove box door, hinge and frame assemblies are side- specific. The assemblies install so that the tether retaining hole (C) in the door frame is to the inboard side. 3. Obtain the new left-side glove box door, hinge and frame assembly (1), a lock (2) and a tether assembly (8) from the kit. Remove the nut (3) from the lock. 4. Insert the lock through the hole in the glove box door as shown. Assemble the tether over the lock threads with the tab (A) on the inboard side of the lock, same as the retaining hole in the door frame. Tighten securely. 5. Open the left-side door, and position the door assembly at the glove box opening, lining up the holes. 6. Insert a screw (9) through each of the holes in the door frame and glove box. Install a hex nut with washer (10) onto the threads of each screw. Tighten finger-tight. NOTE Ambient temperature should be at least 60° F (16° C) for proper adhesion of the gaskets to the glove box door frame. 7. Clean the glove box door frame with a mixture of 50 to 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30 to 50% distilled water. Allow to dry thoroughly. NOTE The glove box gaskets are side-specific. With the paper backing facing the door frame, the oblong hole at the top of the gasket is to the outboard side. 8. Obtain the left-side gasket (6) and a hinge gasket (7) from the kit. Install the gaskets to the glove box door frame. a. The gasket liner on the large gasket is split to aid alignment. Peel one half of the liner from the adhesive backing of the left-side gasket. b. Using the frame edges and screw heads as a guide, carefully position the gasket to the glove box door frame and press firmly into place. c. Peel the remaining half of the liner from the gasket backing, and carefully position the rest of the gasket to the door frame. Press firmly into place. d. Apply steady pressure for a few seconds at all areas of the gasket to verify proper adhesion. e. Peel the liner from the hinge gasket. f. Carefully position the gasket to the door frame above the hinge, and press firmly into place.

didn’t go to my local Kawasaki shop expecting to trade in the 2004 636 I’d been happily riding. I honestly didn’t expect there to be anything on the floor that would motivate me to bring the bike in. Some of you reading this may be able to relate to what I am saying, the day you don’t look for something is the day that you find exactly what you didn’t know you need. That was the day I decided I needed to take home the new ZX-6R. The reworking of the new ZX-6R is more than just about looking good. According to KMC the engine has been redesigned from the crankcase up for the first time in ten years. Racing technology built into the new bike is a close-ratio cassette transmission that can be removed without the needing to split the main crankcases in case you needed to make repairs or adjustments at the track. They also tell us that the fuel injection system has shorter throttle bodies with a smaller diameter bore which claim to give this new smaller sized engine more torque in the mid-range. It also comes with a GPS – Gear Position Sensor. The new ZX-6R comes stock with a slipper clutch which is one difference between the 2004 and 2007. My 2004′s rear wheel would hop if I geared down before a corner and my engine rpms were too high. The slipper clutch allows quicker downshifts. To experience the gains of a slipper clutch you don’t have to buy a 2007 Kawasaki – it was introduced to the 636 in 2005. A quick glance at the exhaust might leave the impression that the ZX-6R comes stock with stacked twin small diameter exhaust cans but if you look closely you will see it is a single oval pipe with a shotgun styled end cap. The titanium pipe has the pre-chamber and catalyser located below the engine to keep the weight on the bike low and centered and the temperature of the under seat silencer reduced. Looking at the new Kawasaki with its fairing removed, I wonder how much more it would have cost the consumer to have an exhaust system that not only works wonders but would be worth showing off? Even if some of the systems of the new 600 look better hidden by plastic the bike does have a cohesive look and every year the fit and finish of Kawasaki’s bikes seem to get better. You can look at this bike from almost any angle and nothing jumps out at you – unless you are on the right side of the bike looking at the rear brake reservoir. It seems odd to me that they would leave the rear brake reservoir exposed. Another design feature of the smooth body of the 2007 ZX-6R is the lack of tie down points for any luggage. It can be argued that this is a bike intended for Sunday morning canyon rides or track days on weekends but if you want to take the 600 out for a weekend away then there is aftermarket solution. Ventura Racks allow you go on vacation with your bike. A Ventura Rack provides you with a frame that you attach to your bike that you can secure luggage to. There is no drilling of body work and the Ventura rack I got fit onto the bike perfectly the first try. One of the things I really like about the Ventura Rack is that you can easily attach bags that you may already have or you have the option of buying the Ventura luggage system. Just give yourself time before a motorcycle trip to pack

INSTALLATION The fork sliders included in this kit install in the same way as the original equipment parts. NOTE Prior to installation of this kit, check the bores of the new sliders to be certain they are free of dirt and debris or damage to the new sliders may occur. 1. Support the motorcycle so the front end is off the floor and the forks are fully extended. 2. Remove the front fender, front brake caliper(s), and front wheel according to instructions found in the Chassis section of the appropriate Service Manual. NOTE On some models other parts will also need to be removed to access the front forks. See the Service Manual. 3. Drain and remove the front forks. See the Chassis Section of the Service Manual. Wear safety glasses or goggles when servicing fork assembly. Do not remove slider tube caps without relieving spring preload or caps and springs can fly out, which could result in death or serious injury. (00297a) 4. Disassemble the front fork tubes according to instructions in the Service Manual, and replace the original fork sliders with the black sliders from the kit. 5. Assemble the front fork tubes, replacing worn seals, bushings or other additional items as needed. NOTE Do not use an impact wrench to tighten the drain screws. Use of an impact wrench may damage the screws. 6. Tighten the drain screws to 52-78 in-lbs (5.9-8.8 Nm) 7. Fill with Harley-Davidson TYPE E FORK OIL according to the instructions found in the Service Manual. 8. Install the front fork and any parts that were removed to access the front forks. Install the front fender, wheel, and caliper(s) according to the instructions found in the Chassis section of the Service Manual. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108 requires motorcycles to be equipped with rear and side reflectors. Be sure rear and side reflectors are properly mounted. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00336b) 1 is02733 1. Install bottom of reflector 2.0 inches above center of axle Figure 1. Reflector Placement NOTE The front reflectors located on both sides of the fork sliders will be removed, cleaned and installed on the new chrome fork sliders. 9. See Figure 1. Using a piece of dental floss (or similar material) in a back and forth motion, loosen reflector from fork slider at both ends. Rotate reflector from side to side until it can be removed. Retain reflector for future use. See Figure 2. Repeat procedure on the opposite side fork slider. 10. Peel off any excess adhesive from both reflectors. Surface must be clean for reinstallation. 11. Peel off one side of backing on foam double sided tape. Press firmly on tape to secure it to reflector. Repeat double sided adhesive tape installation on remaining reflector. NOTE The bottom edge of reflector should be two inches (50 mm) above the center of the axle shaft. 12. See Figure 1. Remove second side (outside surface) of adhesive backing. Place reflector in position (1) and press reflector firmly into place to activate the adhesive. Repeat for remaining reflector. 13. Pump brakes prior to test riding vehicle.

Obtain the correct mounting bracket (2) for your vehicle, and two button-head screws (3) and spacers (4) from the kit. Insert the button-head screws into the mounting bracket, through the holes above and below the slot. Place a spacer over the threads of each screw. Insert the screw threads into the holes in the clutch lever clamp removed earlier. 5. Adjust the hand lever position for rider comfort and posture, then tighten the screws to 60-80 in-lbs (6.8-9.0 Nm) . Receiver and Antenna Bracket Installation 6. Obtain the satellite radio receiver (1), antenna bracket (6), and four lock nuts (8) from the kit. Insert the four studs on the back of the receiver through the four holes in the receiver mounting bracket. 7. See Figure 4 for mounted position of the antenna bracket to the receiver mounting bracket. Assemble a lock nut to each of the bottom two studs. Install the antenna bracket onto the top two studs, and assemble a lock nut to each top stud. Tighten the locknuts securely. Antenna Installation 8. Obtain the XM radio antenna (5) and two-sided adhesive tape (7) from the kit. 9. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the horizontal antenna mounting surface of the antenna bracket, and the bottom (mounting) surface of the antenna. 10. Peel the liner from one side of the tape, and apply the tape squarely to the bottom surface of the antenna. 11. Peel the liner from the exposed side of the adhesive tape on the antenna base. 12. Position the antenna over the bracket without touching the adhesive to the bracket. Center the antenna over the bracket with the antenna cable toward the center of the vehicle. 13. Press the antenna squarely and firmly onto the bracket, and hold pressure for about 60 seconds. After releasing pressure, avoid direct contact with the antenna for about 20 minutes. 1. Remove stock gas cap from fuel tank. 2. Clean and wipe inside surface of fuel tank filler cup, O-ring seal surface, and trim ring adhesive surface with a mixture of equal parts of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. 3. See Figure 1. To unlock, push down on gas cap and rotate counterclockwise one-eighth of a turn. 5. See Figure 2. Before removing adhesive backing, note position of arrow on inside diameter of chrome trim ring. NOTE As you rotate trim ring, you will see gaps between trim ring and fuel tank. Rotate trim ring to position that best eliminates gaps between fuel tank and trim ring. Rotation of trim ring should be minimal. 6. See Figure 3. With the arrow pointing toward front of motorcycle, rotate chrome trim ring slightly to determine best position of bottom chrome trim ring to contour of the fuel tank 7. See Figure 4. Mark position of chrome trim ring with masking tape or grease pencil. 8. Carefully cut masking tape with a hobby knife making sure not to scratch chrome trim ring or paint surface on fuel tank. 9. Peel off adhesive backing from chrome trim ring. 10. Using gas cap to center and masking tape (or grease pencil mark) to align, press chrome trim ring firmly into position for about ten seconds. 11. Position the antenna over the bracket without touching the adhesive to the bracket. Center the antenna over the bracket with the antenna cable toward the center of the vehicle. 13. Press the antenna squarely and firmly onto the bracket, and hold pressure for about 60 seconds. After releasing pressure, avoid direct contact with the antenna for about 20 minutes. HARNESS ROUTING AND CONNECTION NOTE Route the satellite radio receiver harness along the outside of the handlebar, even on internally-wired handlebars. 1. Route the unconnected end of the satellite radio receiver harness as follows: a. Follow the existing wiring from the left-side handlebar switches over to the center of the handlebar. Temporarily bind the harness in place as you route the harness along the handlebar to the center. Do not permanently wire tie the harness to the handlebar at this time. b. Route the wires down through the upper fork bracket (triple clamp), past the steering head, and back along the frame backbone toward the seat. Follow existing wiring where practical. For FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCU, FLHX models , it may be necessary to remove the inner fairing cap to secure the wires. c. Locate the main harness chassis ground connection on the frame. See the Service Manual for your model and year vehicle for specific location. Remove the ground screw or nut. d. Select the appropriate ring terminal (9 or 10) to fit the ground screw or stud

1. Disconnect the Positive (+) terminal from the battery. 2. Remove the existing grip from the Clutch side. Removing the grip may require blowing compressed air in the end between the grip and the bar, injecting brake cleaner fluid, or cutting it off. 3. Clean the handlebar where the grip was removed with alcohol or a solvent to remove all residue and dry with a clean cloth. 4. Determine where the Clutch side heater will be mounted. Take the heater marked “Clutch” and place it on the handlebar approximately ½” from the end and decide the position of the wires. It is recommended to mount the heater so the wires are at 9:00 o’clock or they can be positioned on the bottom for appearance. Peel off the release paper and adhere the heater to the handlebar with the wires toward the headlight. 5. Apply a high temperature adhesive (such as JB Weld) to the inside of the Clutch side grip. Install the grips over the heaters and let the adhesive cure as instructed by the adhesive manufacturer. 6. The Throttle side heater is installed on the throttle sleeve under the rubber cover. Remove the rubber cover that is installed over the throttle sleeve so the Throttle side heater can be applied. Some of the throttle sleeves have ribs which need to be cut or ground off so the heater can make full contact with the sleeve surface or it will over heat in the void areas. 7. Determine where the throttle side heater will be mounted. Take the heater marked “Throttle” and place it on the throttle sleeve approximately ½” from the end and decide the position of the wires. It is recommended to mount the heater so the wires are at 3:00 o’clock with a loop to allow for the twisting motion of the throttle. Peel off the release paper and adhere the heater to the throttle sleeve with the wires toward the headlight. 8. Apply a thin coat of adhesive (such as J.B. Weld) to the surface of heater only and reroll the rubber hand grip over the entire throttle sleeve. Wipe off any excessive adhesive that may have rolled out

1. Get a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. (Just kidding!) 2. Remove the seat, side panels, and gas tank. If you are color blind or even think you might be a little color blind, now is the time to get someone to assist you. Successful installation of the kit requires good color recognition. You want to go riding this weekend, don’t you? Photo 1 3. Unplug the yellow, blue and black taillight wires from the stock wiring harness (Photo 1). 4. Unplug the headlight from the stock wiring harness and remove. 3 Photo 2 5. Remove the headlight on/off switch. Unplug the red two pin connector with yellow and brown wires (Photo 2) from its mate that was under the fuel tank. 6. Clip the zip tie holding the headlight leads to the fork tube, coil it up and secure it to the frame in front of the voltage regulator as shown in Photos 3 and 4. Remove bracket shown in Photo 3. 4 Headlight Leads Remove this bracket Photo 3 Coil up wires and secure with a zip tie Photo 4 7. Rear Turn Signal Installation: Turn signal mounting requires that you drill a 3/8 inch hole in either side of the rear fender near where it meets the side panels. You can achieve a clean, durable installation using this mounting location. Mount the rear turn signals by drilling a 3/8 hole in the rear fender in the location shown in Photo 5 and Photo 6. Use the templates provided at the back of this instruction manual to determine the hole locations. Note that you will also be drilling a 3/16 hole on each side as well. You may find it easier to remove the fender to drill and attach the turn signals rather than performing this modification while the fender is on the bike
