1. Before installing the TFI you must first disconnect the negative lead from the battery. 2. Determinea location for the TFI unit. Suggested locations areas follows: Under the seat, behinda side cover or tail section. 3. The TFIcomeswitha harness with injector connectors that match the factory injector connectors. 4. Locate the factory fuel injectors (see owners manual if you are not sure)*. *: Some models are equipped with two sets of injectors (primary and secondary) the unit is designed to interface with the primary injectors. If the TFI harness does not match your injectors do not proceed and call tech support at 877-764-3337. 5. Disconnect the factory injector connectors from the fuel injectors and replace with the TFI injector connectors from the TFI unit, basically unhook the factory injector connector and plug the matching TFI connector (female) to the injector and then connect the factory injector connector to the TFI connector that simulates the injector (male). There is no order to hookup the TFI harness to the factory harness just make sure the original factory connector goes toits’original cylinder. It is a good idea to make sure there is a little slack in the harness to prevent engine vibration from damaging/breakingawireon the connectors. 6. Be sure to check the wires are not indirect contact with any sharp edges, exhaust and/or other objects that could result in long term wearing and/or damage. 7. Connect the TFI ground lead to the negative terminal of the battery along with the factory ground lead.

1. Flip up seat, to gain access to radiator reservoir area. 2. Remove Dzus fastener to remove simulated fuel tank cover, over airbox housing. Depending on which model V-Rod is being worked on, the front shrouds covering the upper front frame section may also need to be removed. 3. Place Fi2000 in under-seat area, run fuel injector connector harness up right side frame rail between top right frame rail, and radiator overflow tank, see Figure 1. At the rear of the airbox, route the harness below the airbox, and downward next to the inner radiator hose. Unplug both stock fuel injector connectors, on the front and rear injectors between the engine cylinders, see Figure 2. These are disconnected, by depressing the metal springs that are on the end of each female connector. The stock female connectors are marked “F” and “R”, noting which connector goes to the front and rear injector, be sure to pay attention to this. Now connect the longer male Fi2000 connector to the front female H.D. connector. Plug shorter Fi2000 male connector into the stock rear female H.D. connector. Then plug the longer female Cobra connector onto the front stock H.D. injector. Plug the shorter Fi2000 female connector onto the rear injector. Each injector connector pair should rest underneath each respective injector. 4. It is now time to install the oxygen sensor eliminator modules. This product is designed to eliminate the “check engine” light from coming on when the stock oxygen sensors are disconnected on Harley Davidson Motorcycles utilizing fuel injection. The motorcycle has a full “open loop” fuel injection map written in its ECU and the motorcycle reverts to this default map after the oxygen sensors have been removed or just disconnected. 5. Locate the rear oxygen sensor and follow the harness up to the under-seat area behind the radiator overflow tank. Pull the stock connectors up from below the overflow tank and disconnect, see Figure 1. Plug one of the supplied Oxygen sensor eliminators on to the stock male connector. Tuck the connectors back underneath the bracket behind the radiator overflow tank. 6. Now locate the front oxygen sensor on the front headpipe, and trace the oxygen sensor harness back to the connectors tucked between the left front frame rail and plastic radiator shroud, see Figure 3. Pull these connectors out, and disconnect them. Plug the remaining supplied oxygen sensor eliminator on to the stock male connector. Tuck the connectors back in between the frame rail and plastic shroud

Remove the seat. Remove or raise the fuel tank. The tank needs to be raised enough to give access to the fuel injectors and TPS wires. Unplug the front injector. On the FI Controller, there are 2 pairs of injector connectors. Plug the pair with the orange wires into the front cylinder injector harness and front cylinder injector. Repeat this using the other connector pair and the rear cylinder injector. Locate the TPS connector behind the throttle body. Crimp the wire tap onto the wire that is grey with a purple stripe. This wire should be in position “C” on the connector. Plug the grey wire from the FI Controller into the wire tap. Run the wiring harness for the FI Controller from the engine to the seat. Make sure that it will not get damaged when you reinstall the tank. Use one of the wire ties to tie the wires to the frame, away from the cylinder head. Place the FI Controller where you plan on mounting it permanently. In most cases, this will be under the seat. Connect the ground lug (black wire) to a grounding point on the bike. Use the Velcro tape to mount the FI Controller in position. Use alcohol swab to clean mounting surface prior to attaching Velcro. 1) Start with a cold motorcycle, and remove the seat (see owners manual for seat removal instructions). 2) Locate a suitable place for your new PowerCard: It is generally velcroed or zip tied under the seat or behind cowling, check for the easiest mounting and wire routing. Often it is easier to place the card in the desired location, and then pull wires from there, rather than connecting the wires and trying to work the PowerCard backward. (In a 2004 Yamaha R6 for example, it is easiest to mount the card, then route connectors one by one through to the engine compartment.) 3) Disconnect the battery ground. Battery may need to be removed to aid in installation (2006 Yamaha R1 for example). 4) Remove the fuel tank and necessary cowlings – many tanks can simply be rotated up and away to allow access to the fuel injector connectors. Secure the tank. Be careful to prevent fuel spills if fuel line removal is necessary – use the quick-disconnect fittings if your motorcycle is so equipped. (see owners manual for tank removal instructions) a. Note: ZX10 installation also requires removal of the stock air box. Unbolt, disconnect fittings, and then turn clock-wise one-quarter turn to remove. Remove the seat and air cleaner assembly, remove both front and rear gas tank mounting bolts. Prop the rear of the gas tank up approximately 2″. 2. Locate the factory connector on each fuel injector. Depress the clip on the connector and pull the connector free and move it out of the way. Note: A pair of needle nose pliers and a long flat blade screwdriver helps with this job. If you need additional access to the fuel injector connectors, you can remove the Idle Air solenoid by removing the two 5/16” bolts holding it on and loosening the Torx #20 screw on throttle cable bracket. Make sure to use blue thread-locking compound when refitting the two 5/16″ bolts and correctly position the o-ring when reattaching. 3. Lay the Fi2000R module in the area underneath the seat, do not attach it to the motorcycle, route the wire harness forward up the left side of the frame and across to the right side just ahead of the rear cylinder head, See Figure 1. Route the forward set of connectors under the upper motor mount. 4. Attach the Fi2000R module’s forward injector plug, with the grey and red wires to the front injector. Take the original female H.D. connector and insert the corresponding Fi2000R male connector, with the brown and red wires, into it, refer to Figure 2. 5. Attach the Fi2000R module’s rear female injector plug, with the blue and red wires, onto the rear injector. Then take the original female HD connector and insert the corresponding male Fi2000R connector, with the green and red wires, into it, refer to Figure 2. 6. Remove the right hand battery cover, route the black ground wire from the Fi2000R through the gap just under the frame and to the rear of the battery box. Attach the ring terminal to the negative post of the battery. Now cut the factory zip-tie holding the rear fender wire harness to the ECU bracket and pull that harness up and out of the way, see Figure 1.

FUEL PUMP The electric fuel pump is mounted at the bottom of the fuel tank, which consists of the armature, magnet, impeller, brush, check valve and relief valve . The ECM controls its ON/OFF operation as controlled under the FUEL PUMP CONTROL SYSTEM . When electrical energy is supplied to the fuel pump, the motor in the pump runs and together with the impel- ler . This causes a pressure difference to occur on both sides of the impeller as there are many grooves around it . Then the fuel is drawn through the inlet port, and with its pressure increased, it is discharged through the outlet port . The fuel pump has a check valve to keep some pressure in the fuel feed hose even when the fuel pump is stopped . Also, the relief valve is equipped in the fuel pump, which releases pressurized fuel to the fuel tank when the outlet of the fuel pressure has increased up to 450 -600 kPa (4.5- 6.0 kgf/cm2,64- 85 psi) . Relief valve Brush , ∎ I,’ Check valve Magnet L Armature When the impeller is driven by the motor, pressure differential occurs between the front part and the rear part of the blade groove as viewed in angular direction due to fluid friction . This process continuously takes place causing fuel pressure to be built up . The pressurized fuel is then let out from the pump chamber and discharged through the motor section and the check valve . FUEL SYSTEM AND THROTTLE BODY 5- 3 Inlet port I I Impeller 5-4 FUEL SYSTEM AND THROTTLE BODY FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR The fuel pressure regulator consists of the spring and valve . It keeps absolute fuel pressure of 300 kPa (3.0 kgf/cm2,43 psi) to be applied to the injector at all times . When the fuel pressure rises more than 300 kPa (3 .0 kgf/cm2, 43 psi), the fuel pushes the valve in the regulator open and excess fuel returns to the fuel tank . 90 Spring 02 Valve FUEL INJECTOR The fuel injector consists of the solenoid coil, plunger, needle valve and filter . It is an electromagnetic type injection nozzle which injects fuel in the throttle body according to the signal from the ECM. When the solenoid coil of the injector is energized by the ECM, it becomes an electromagnet and attracts the plunger. At the same time, the needle valve incorporated with the plunger opens and the injector which is under the fuel pressure injects fuel in conic dispersion . As the lift stroke of the needle valve of the injector is set constant, the volume of the fuel injected at one time is determined by the length of time during which the solenoid coil is energized (injection time)
