A listing of all 1989 Toyota Paint Codes and Color Names, including refinish paint codes for five major automotive paint manufactures – BASF (R-M), Dupont, PPG (Ditzler), Sherwin-Williams (Acme, Rogers, Martin-Senour), and Sikkens, is attached for your reference. Please note: Color numbers 042 and 049 are Tricoats (three-layer paint): base color coat, pearl (mica) coat and clearcoat. All colors listed as pearl or metallic have a clearcoat finish. Sikkens paint formula codes use the abbreviation “Toy” plus the Toyota paint code (for example, the paint formula code for 8G1 is Toy8GI) Martin-Senour paint formula codes are the same as Sherwin Williams codes for all new 1989 colors. it is the responsibility of the dealer to protect and maintain the quality of the vehicle’s finish after receipt at the dealership. Frequent vehicle washing, up to 4 times weekly during high heat and humidity periods, should be performed to minimize the potential for paint damage due to acid rain exposure. This is especially important in areas known for high frequency and concentration of acid rain and industrial fallout. INSPECTION AND REPAIR: Acid rain damage can frequently be identified on vehicles by the presence of visible spots on the paint surface which resemble hard water stains. Unlike water spots, however, acid rain damage cannot be removed by polishing or buffing only. Because acid rain can etch and soften the paint, normal polishing or buffing repair procedures should not be attempted, as this will result in visible depressions in the paint surface. CORRECTIVE ACTION: The repair of acid rain damaged paint surfaces varies depending on how deep the acid has penetrated. Superficial damage can usually be removed by color-sanding and polishing. If the damage extends to a depth greater than 1/2 mil of the clearcoat on a pearl or metallic color, or more than 1 mil of a solid color, sanding and repainting may be necessary. Unfortunately, there is no simple method of determining the actual extent of the acid penetration other than color sanding a representative affected area until there is no visible etching or depressions and then measuring the amount of paint removed with a magnetic type paint film thickness gauge

Step 1 — Locate ‘mold circle’ indentation on each side fairing panel (Pic 1). With panel mounted on bike, this indentation is center, at rear inside panel edge, and faces inside. Temporarily install bracket as shown in (Pic 2), align bottom bracket hole over indentation and mark for hole. Remove brackets at this time. Step 2 — Remove fairing body side panels. Four screws per side required for removal, see owners manual. Drill a 3/8″ hole at mark. If harness kit has not been installed, do not re-install left side panel until finished unless you remove tank to install harness. Removal of the tank is the best option to route harness from battery area to front of the bike. Step 3 — As required, re-install fairing body side panels. Do not re-install the top factory inner panel Torx Screw yet, as you will re-use this screw to secure the top light bracket mounting hole to the fairing panel. Step 4 — Using 10/32×1/2 screws and black shoulder washers from Hardware package, secure lights to PIAA Ezy-Mount® brackets (See Pics 3 & 4). Right side bracket is stamped ‘EZY-MOUNT’. See note below for Powersports lights. Due to close proximity of the light body to fairing side panel, access to the vertical adjustment screw on the panel side of the light will not be possible after installation. To prepare for this; before installing bracket/light assembly to panel, make sure this screw is tightened so that you can barely move the light body. After bracket is installed, final vertical adjustment can be secured with the inside screw. Torque on this screw is adequate to hold vertical adjustment, and the screw that faces the panel will not come loose. NOTE: WHEN INSTALLING POWERSPORTS LIGHTS, YOU MUST INSERT THE SHOULDER ADAPTER WASHER INTO THE LIGHT FOOT, BEFORE INSERTING SCREW TO SECURE LIGHT FOOT TO BRACKET. THIS ADAPTER CENTERS LIGHT FOOT OVER PEMNUT (TIGHTEN THIS SCREW SECURELY). Step 5 — Insert well nut into previously drilled 3/8″ hole. Place bracket assembly against fairing, aligning top hole with the top fairing mounting position; re-install the factory Torx screw at this location. Adjust as necessary and install the second supplied SS 10/32 x 5/8 Torx screw thru the lower bracket mounting hole to the well nut. With constant pressure on the screw, tighten securely. Constant pressure ensures that the rear expandable section of the well nut captures the back of the plastic inner panel as you tighten the screw. Future removal of fairing panels is now possible with light assembly installed (utilizing the bottom bracket mounting screw), thus re-alignment of lights is not required after normal maintenance.

During rail transportation or extended storage near industrial areas, vehicles may occasionally be subjected to contamination by airborne iron particles shed from either railroad tracks, train wheels, etc., or exposure to heavy machinery facilities. These particles can adhere to horizontal painted surfaces of vehicles and quickly corrode when combined with moisture. If not immediately recognized and removed from painted surfaces, they become embedded and cause further paint damage. INSPECTION: This type of contamination can be identified by the presence of small red or brown particles on the paint surfaces. These particles are often difficult to see on dark color paints, but still can be readily felt when brushing a hand or fingernail across horizontal body surfaces such as hood, roof, or decklid. CAUTION: Because of the abrasiveness of these small iron particles, polishing or buffing procedures should not be attempted to repair the paint surface of an affected vehicle. This will result in further paint damage and detract from vehicle appearance. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Washing the affected paint surfaces with an oxalic acid solution is the recommended method to dislodge embedded iron particles and remove the surrounding rust stains. ZEP X-20472 “INDUSTRIAL FALLOUT REMOVER” is one of several commercially pre-mixed oxalic acid wash solutions and is very effective in removing iron particle contamination. Definitions: Grounding : The process of making an electrical connection to the general mass of the earth. This is most often accomplished with ground rods, ground mats or some other grounding system. Low resistance grounding is critical to the operation of lightning protection techniques. Bonding : The process of making an electrical connection between the grounding electrode and any equipment, appliance, or metal conductor: pipes, plumbing, flues, etc. Equipment bonding serves to protect people and equipment in the event of an electrical fault. Equipotential Bonding : The process of making an electrical connection between the grounding electrode and any metal conductor: pipes, plumbing, flues, etc., which may be exposed to a lightning strike and can be a conductive path for lightning energy towards or away from the grounding electrode. 2. The National Fuel Gas Code NFPA 54/ANSI Z223 states, “Each above ground portion of a gas piping system upstream from the equipment shutoff valve shall be electrically continuous and bonded to any grounding electrode, as defined by NFPA 70, National Electrical Code ( ANSI/NFPA 70 1999 Edition.) 3. The TracPipe® gas piping system shall be bonded in accordance with the National Fuel Gas Code, NFPA 54/ANSI Z223. The piping system is not to be used as a grounding conductor or electrode for an electrical system. 4. For bonding of the TracPipe® system, a bonding clamp must be attached to the brass AutoFlare®fitting adapter (adjacent to the pipe thread area – see Figure 4-21) or to a black pipe component (pipe or fitting) located in the same electrically continuous gas piping system as the AutoFlare®fitting. The corrugated stain- less steel portion of the gas piping system SHALL NOT be used as the bonding attachment point under any circumstances. Bonding electrode conductor sizing shall be in accordance with Article 250 (Table 250-66) of ANSI/NFPA 70. The bonding is a requirement of the National Electrical Code

The 1100X/F-TL interface module is used when installing remote start
products in Toyota/Lexus vehicles equipped with a factory immobilizer.
The 1100X/F-TL allows for easy interfacing between the remote start and
the factory immobilizer, while maintaining the integrity of the OEM sys-
tem. The factory transponder-based anti-theft system uses a small elec-
tronic chip hidden in the key to send a code to the vehicle’s transceiver
when the ignition is energized. The key must be placed in the ignition
and turned to the RUN position. This energizes a coil surrounding the
key, which in turn energizes the chip, which sends a code to the vehicle. If
the vehicle does not detect the code being sent, the vehicle will start and
then immediately shut off or will just crank, and the anti-theft light will
flash. The 1100X/F-TL provides a valid code to the vehicle whenever it is
remote started, but does not affect the immobilizer system during normal
vehicle operation; the immobilizer system remains fully functional
