Toyota has restyled its popular RAV4 compact sport utility vehicle for 2009. The new standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is more powerful than the previous 2.4-liter engine and is more fuel efficient. In addition, all RAV4 models feature interior upgrades and a comprehensive new Sport Appearance Package is available for the 4WD V6 model. All RAV4 models receive enhanced safety and security features with standard front seat active headrests and an engine immobilizer. Comfort, convenience and user technology are also significantly enhanced in 2009 RAV4 models. The Limited grade adds a new standard Smart Entry system that allows the driver to open the vehicle by simply carrying the key fob and grasping the door handle. The Sport and Limited grades offer an available new rear backup monitor. Integrated satellite radio is newly available for 2009, and the Sport and Limited grades offer a new low-cost navigation system. All RAV4 models gain new standard seat fabric, and the Sport grade exclusively offers a new, unique Charcoal leather option.

Engine Oil Replacement • Replace the engine oil after the first 50 miles or 1 hour with 5w50, 10w50 or 15W50 synthetic engine oil. Then replace again every 1,500 miles or 1 each year. Check oil level every 500 miles, add oil if needed. Changing the Engine Oil (1).Warm up the engine for a few minutes. (2).Stop the engine. (3). Place scooter on center stand. (4).Place an oil pan under the engine and remove the dipstick. (5).Remove the drain plug and drain the oil. Reach in drain hole, pull out filter clean and reinstall, after all oil drains out. (6).Reinstall drain plug. (7). Fill the engine with oil until the level is in the designated area on the dipstick. (8).Start the engine and check for oil leaks. If a leak is found stop the engine immediately and look for cause. Rear Wheel Oil Replacement • Replace the gear oil after the first 500 miles with 5W/50 synthetic engine oil. Replace the gear oil again every 4 months or every 2000 miles. • Replacing the Gear Oil (1).Put the scooter on the center stand (please see photo below) . (2).Place an oil pan under the gear case (please see photo below) . (3).Remove the oil filler bolt and the drain plug to drain the oil (please see photo below) . (4).Reinstall and tighten the drain plug. (5).Fill the gear case with oil (please see photo below) . (6).Reinstall the oil filler bolt. (7).Check for oil leakage. Cleaning Air Cleaner Be sure to check the air cleaner regularly. (1).Place the scooter on the center stand. (2).Unscrew and remove the left side panel. (3).Remove the air cleaner cover by removing the screws. (4).Take out the air cleaner by removing the screws. (5).Remove the air cleaner element and wash it gently, but thoroughly in solvent. Replace if damaged. (6).Squeeze out the excess solvent and dry it. (7).Apply oil to the entire surface of the air cleaner and squeeze out the excess oil. It should be damp but not dripping. Disconnect negative battery cable. On 2.2L (5S-FE) models,
remove battery and cruise control actuator. On all models, remove air
cleaner case with air intake hose. Remove clutch release cylinder with
hose attached and secure aside.
2) Remove starter. Disconnect necessary ground straps,
electrical connections and control cables from transaxle. Remove upper
transaxle mounting bolts from cylinder block.
3) Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove
lower engine covers. Drain transaxle fluid. Remove axle shafts from
transaxle. See AXLE SHAFTS article in AXLE SHAFTS & TRANSFER CASES

Transmission on Tercel Wagon has 2 drain plugs on bottom of transaxle.Transfer Case (Except Tercel Wagon) Drain plugs on 4WD transfer cases are separate from main transmission case. Transfer Case (Tercel Wagon) The integral differential and transaxle assembly on Tercel Wagons have separate drain and fill plugs. See Fig. 1. When filling with fluid, leave extension housing drain plug loose about 7 or 8 turns. After filling, tighten drain plug.

Disassembly of motorcycle: 1. Place the motorcycle on the center stand or lift. 2. Set the shock preload to zero. 3. Remove the four m8 x 1.25 SHCS from the passenger handles and remove seat. 4. Remove the rear side covers. 5. Disconnect negative battery terminal. 6. Remove the four m8 x 1.25 SHCS and the passenger floorboards. 7. Remove the six m5 x 0.80 BHCS and the foot rest under cover. 8. Remove the six m5 x .80 BHCS and the swing arm pivot bolt covers. 9. Remove the four m8 x 1.25 flange bolts on the rear crash guards. Remove and discard the rear crash guards and bolts. 10. Remove the four #2 Phillips head screws from the inside of the trunk to remove the trim pieces on the sides. 11. Remove the two #2 Phillips head screws in the rear trim molding and remove molding. 12. Remove the seven #2 Phillips head screws from the lower trunk cover. Remove the lower trunk cover. 13. Remove the five #2 Phillips head screws from the trunk opener cover. Remove the trunk opener cover. 14. Disconnect the left and right saddlebag release cables. 15. Remove the five m6 x 1.0 BHCS in the rear fender panel. Remove and discard the rear fender panel and cap screws. 16. Disconnect the trunk wiring. 17. Remove the four m6 x 1.0 flange screws. Remove the trunk from the saddlebag / trunk stay. 7 18. 2005 and older 2005 and older 2005 and older 2005 and older ABS equipped motorcycles: ABS equipped motorcycles: ABS equipped motorcycles: ABS equipped motorcycles: Remove rubber bungee from ABS Control Unit, and save for reinstallation. 19. Refer to Honda service manual. 21. Remove the left and right saddlebag taillights and sub- harnesses for core parts return . Refer to Honda service manual. 22. Remove the four m6 x 1.0 flange bolts from each saddlebag. Remove and discard the saddlebags. 23. Remove the six m6 x 1.0 flange bolts from the exhaust tips. Slide the tip off the muffler body. Save tips and bolts for reinstallation. 24. Loosen the four m8 x 1.25 SHCS on the muffler clamps. Remove the two m8 x 1.25 flange bolts. Remove and discard the mufflers and muffler gaskets. 25. Remove the seat & fuel tank. Photo 1 Unplug 2. Unplug the two three-pin connectors that mate the taillight & turn signal power leads to the stock wiring harness on top of the airbox. See Photo 1. 3. Unbolt and remove the stock taillight & rear turn signal assembly from the rear fender. The wires & connectors will pull through the gap in the fender/airbox plastic with a little finesse. 4. Unplug the two small white plastic connectors near the upper edge of the stock taillight lens and separate the wire extension from the taillight. See Photo 2. Photo 2 Unplug these two connectors and remove wire extension Photo 3 Remove 5. Using a sharp blade or cut-off wheel, remove the two molded mounting bosses on the bottom of the fender. See Photo 3. 6. Attach the new LED taillight to the fender as shown using the provided countersunk mounting hardware. Use the two longer bolts for the front mounts. 1 Remove the main seat and the passenger seat. 2 Remove the chrome left hand engine cover below the fuel tank. 3 Remove the fuel tank. To remove the fuel line squeeze the orange tabs of the connector and push in (Fig. A). 4 Unplug the three electrical con- nectors. 5 Remove the battery cover by removing the five screws (Fig. B). 6 Lay the PCIII in front of the battery temporarily (Fig. C). 7 Attach the black ground lead from the PCIII to the negative side of the battery. Make sure to use the sleeve to prevent any damage to the unit. 15 Reinstall the fuel tank and connect the fuel line and connectors. 16 Reinstall the seat. The following items will need to be addressed in order to prepare your ZX14 for the Stage I Turbo kit installation. Please refer to your Kawasaki service manual for further information. q* Remove the following bodywork: Tank front cover Seat Side Fairing Lower Fairing Lower Rear Cowl q* Drain and remove the fuel tank. q* Drain the cooling system into a clean container so that it can be reused. (This is best done from the drain bolt in the water pump housing, open the filler cap to vent while draining.) Remember that coolant is poisonous. Be sure to keep it away from pets and children and store it in a clearly marked and sealed container. q* Remove the radiator.Remove the exhaust system. q* Remove the air box lids and rear inlet tubes. q* Drain the oil and remove the oil filter. q* Remove the crankcase breather line from the frame (left hand side behind the throttle bodies) and plug this inlet with the provided rubber cap and clamp.(photo 2) q* Remove the oil water trap line and install an 8 x 16mm allen bolt and washer. (photo 2) q* Remove the oil sender unit (on oil pan). q* Remove the upper radiator shroud (attached to engine). This will be modified later to accomodate the 2″ air inlet pipe. q* Remove the secondary butterflies. (photo 1) 1. Heat the screws on each plate using a heat gun on medium heat. 2. Remove the screws and plates. (DO NOT OPEN THE THROTTLE DURING REMOVAL!)
