“Our focus is on delivering a motorcycle that fits the needs of the new market. It seems that so many companies are trying to revamp their line by adding a sixth gear. We’re taking the gears completely out of the equation and letting riders get back to actually riding”, said Clay Ridley about the effort his company has directed towards their new product line. Several new unique features are creating interest among Ridley Riders on the company’s riders forum, one of which is a parking brake. “We take comments from the owners of our motorcycles very, very seriously. Ridley Riders have asked for a parking brake for added security”, commented Jay Ridley, Vice President for the company. Added to the long list of improvements for the new year model is the new “2 Year Plus” factory warranty which offers twenty-five months of factory backed warranty. According to Ridley, this new warranty exceeds coverage provided by most other domestic manufacturer’s. One more reason Ridley believes 2008 will be the company’s best selling year model. With the holiday season fast approaching, Ridley Motorcycle felt the introduction of the new models would have more impact if held back until the middle of November. For Ridley, the holiday season means big business. Several of Ridley’s dealers have reported higher sales in December than in May. The company attributed this to their market which is nearly divided in half among men and women.

Ridley TRANSMISSION BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1.Remove the transmission cover and inspect the belt for wear, damage, or breaks. 2.Fraying on sides of belt is considered normal. 3.To replace the belt, remove the clutches and remove the old belt. Install new belt onto clutches and simultaneously install the clutches. Refer to “Clutches” for more detailed information. CLUTCHES: Tools Needed for Service: Transmission Removal A1.) Remove the bolts holding on the transmission cover with a 6mm Allen Wrench and remove the cover away from the motorcycle. Refer to bolt #11 in Figure 3. •6mm Allen Wrench •Torque Wrench •5/16 Allen Wrench •1-1/8″ Socket Wrench •Chisel •Hammer Figure 3
A2.) Bend the tab on the driven washer with a chisel. Remove both the bolt and nut holding the clutches onto the transmission as well as the washers. Refer to numbers 5,6,8 and 9 in Figure 3. Number 9 is for the drive and number 6 is for the driven. Use a 5/16 Allen for the bolt and a 1-1/8 socket wrench for the nut. A3.) Remove the drive and driven at the same time. Remove the belt from the clutches. Refer to number 3 in Figure 3. Drive Clutch Service B1.) Remove the clutch cover by bending down the tabs and removing the bolts. Refer to Figure 4. B2.) Remove the snap ring using a pair of snap-ring pliers. See Figure 5. *NOTE: Make sure to use caution when removing the snap ring. The snap ring can “spring” off during removal and can cause damage to the eyes if not careful.

Place motorcycle in a secure upright position 2) Remove saddle bags (if applicable) 3) Remove rear fender mounting bolts (3 each side) 4) Tap indicated rear fender mounting holes with a 3/8″ – 16 tap. (2 holes each side) It is highly recommended that cutting/tap oil is used. Use care when tapping holes. Be certain to tap holes completely through. 5) Ensure 2 large attachment bolts are tight. 6) Attach Bracket C (left) and Bracket D (right) to rear fender rail. Use new bolts provided on outer tapped holes (2) and one of the longer original bolts for center hole. Place one washer between brackets C & D and rear fender rail on each bolt. (3 each side) Place washer and thin nut on inside of rear fender on new bolts (2 each side) These replace original fender washers. It may be necessary to reattach saddle bag attachment hardware when attaching brackets C and D. All saddle bag hardware should be attached to the OUTSIDE of brackets C and D. 7) Attach front of Bracket A (left) and B (right) to existing hole in motorcycle frame just above swing arm pivot. 8) Attach rear of bracket A (left) B (right) to TOP of forward hitch arms. Snug bracket A and B attachment bolts at this time. 10) Attach top of Bracket E (left) and F (right) to outside of lower tabs on bracket C & D. 11) Attach bottom of brackets E and F to top of rear hitch plate. 12) Tighten bolts at this time.
