Installation NOTE This power source can be mounted on either side cover of the motorcycle, except on models with cruise control, which must have the power source mounted on the right side cover. 1. Remove seat and the side cover chosen for installation (see note above). 1 WARNING To avoid accidental start-up of motorcycle, and possible personal injury, disconnect the battery cables (negative cable first) before performing any of the following procedures. If the positive cable should contact ground with the negative cable installed, the resulting sparks may cause a battery explosion resulting in personal injury. 2. Disconnect battery, negative cable first. 3. See Figure 1. A 7/8 inch diameter hole needs to be drilled in the top of the side cover to mount the power source. It is important that the hole is properly located as follows, before cutting : a. Cut out template on page 3. Line the template up on the outside top of the cover using the top and rear cover edges as guides as shown in the illustration. Tape the template in place. b. After the template is in place, locate the appropriate hole on the template that matches the applicable year and side cover. Check to be sure that the entire hole area is on the flat top surface of the cover. No part of the hole should extend onto the sharply curved edge of the cover. 4. Carefully drill a 7/8 inch diameter hole at the location marked on the template. Drill from the outside of the cover to the inside. 5. See Figure 2. Unscrew outer sleeve of socket assembly (1) from socket body. Place the socket body into the cover hole and secure the socket in place by screwing

CARE AND MAINTENANCE Voltmeter Test See Table 2. The voltmeter test provides a general indicator of battery condition. Check the voltage of the battery to verify that it is in a 100% fully-charged condition. If the open circuit (disconnected) voltage reading is below 12.7 V, charge the battery and then check the voltage again after the battery has set for one to two hours. If the voltage reading is 12.7 V or above, perform a load test. Table 2. Voltmeter Test For Battery Charge Conditions STATE OF CHARGE VOLTAGE (OCV) 100% 12.7 V 75% 12.6 V 50% 12.3 V 25% 12.0 V 0% 11.8 V Disconnection and Removal Refer to a service manual for specific disconnection and removal steps. Pay attention to all warnings and cautions within the manual and remove battery from battery box/tray. Battery Charging Batteries contain sulfuric acid, which could cause severe burns to eyes and skin. Wear a protective face shield, rubberized gloves and protective clothing when working with batteries. KEEP BATTERIES AWAY FROM CHILDREN. (00063a) 1. Never charge a battery without first reviewing the instructions for the charger being used. 2. Perform a voltmeter test to determine the state of charge. See BATTERY TESTING, VOLTMETER TEST. If battery needs to be charged, proceed to Step 3. Remove battery from motorcycle before charging. Electrolyte leakage will damage motorcycle parts. (00213a) Explosive hydrogen gas, which escapes during charging, could cause death or serious injury. Charge battery in a well-ventilated area. Keep open flames, electrical sparks and smoking materials away from battery at all times. KEEP BATTERIES AWAY FROM CHILDREN. (00065a) 3. See applicable service manual and remove the battery from the motorcycle. Place the battery on a level surface. 4. Inspect battery for damage. Replace battery if visibly damaged or frozen. 5. Inspect battery charger, verify that the charger leads are not damaged, frayed or loose

Wiring instructions for 7-Color LED Tachs Wire Baron’s Tach to one of your motorcycle’s ignition coils via the following schematic: • Green wire of tach to NEGATIVE terminal of coil (see FAQ to determine your bike’s negative side) • Black wire of tach to CHASSIS (Ground) • Red wire to of tach to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Red wire from control box to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Black wire from control box to CHASSIS (ground) • Control box plugs into tach with the 4-way connector • Button plugs into the control box. Button can be mounted on handlebar or any other convenient place Wiring instructions for White- or Black-Face Tachs Wire Baron’s Tach to one of your motorcycle’s ignition coils via the following schematic: • Green wire to NEGATIVE terminal of coil (see FAQ to determine your bike’s negative side) • Black wire to CHASSIS (Ground) • Red wire to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) • Blue wire to POSITIVE terminal of coil (or other switched 12 volt source) General mounting instructions (1) Mount new Baron Tach on handlebar in your preferred position. Ideal location is between handlebar risers. If mounted off- center, you can rotate tach face back to vertical (or any position you desire) by first loosening tach unit’s set screw (found either in handlebar area of housing or underside of housing, depending on tach style), then unscrewing tach housing’s bezel, rotating tach, re-installing bezel and retightening set screw. Secure handlebar clamp by first tightening the rear, flat side of clamp all the way down, then tighten tapered front side of clamp until tach does not rotate. There should be a small gap on the pointed side and no gap on the flat side when the clamp is correctly tightened. (2) Route tach’s wire harness lead to coil as necessary for simplest and cleanest installation. Feed tach harness alongside bike’s wiring harness (passing behind any plastic frame covers), then downward toward coil. (3) Make your wire connections as recommended above. Use the spade and piggyback connectors

Turn ignition switch off and disconnect battery ground cable. 2. Refer to Figure 3. Remove OE ignition module and wire harness (items 1-4). You will disconnect two wires at the coil (15), a wire going to the VOES (Vacuum Operated Electrical Switch) (18), a black ground wire at the ignition module, and the 3 pin plug (20) that connects to the sensor plate (11). Refer to shop manual for locations. 3. Remove ignition cover plates and gasket (items 5- 9). This will require drilling out two rivets. The rivets will later be replaced with two supplied self- threading screws. 4. In order to remove the sensor plate cable, the cable plug (20) must be removed first. Use needle nose pliers to pull the terminals out of the plug. Then pull the cable through the exit hole at the bottom of the timing cover. 5. Note location of sensor plate (11). There is a V notch in the sensor plate used for alignment. When you install the HI-4, you should align the V notch in the same location. This should set the timing close enough to start the engine. Remove and save the two standoffs and washers (10). Remove the sensor plate (11). HI-4 INSTALLATION Refer to Figure 4. The HI-4 requires use of the OE timing rotor P/N 32402-83 (used only on 1985 and newer models). If you have an older model or are not sure, check the rotor (9) for the correct part number. For models prior to 1980, use the supplied 10-32 x ¾”bolt and washer to mount the rotor. 1. Install the HI-4 system in place of the OE breaker or sensor plate. Rotate the HI-4 about 90 degrees to give better access to the cable exit hole. Install the HI-4 first, then push the cable through the hole. On some early models it may be necessary to enlarge the wire harness exit hole in the gear cover. Align the V notch on the HI-4 same as the OE plate you removed. Use the OE standoffs to secure the HI-4. You must use lockwashers under the standoffs for proper clearance between the HI-4 and cover plate. Do not fully tighten the standoffs until the timing has been set. 2. Route the HI-4 wire harness along the frame rails up to the coil. Make sure that harness will not be chafed or burned by exhaust heat. Secure harness with tie wraps. Do not install timing cover. HI-4 HOOKUP Crimp terminals and hardware are supplied for your convenience. Use the ring terminals for coil hookup. Use male-female quick disconnects for connections to the tach and vacuum switch (VOES). Tape up any unused wires. 1. Circuit Breaker Cover Screws (2) 2. Circuit Breaker Cover 3. 9000-4002A REV A 3 2/05 1. Identify switched +12 volt wire and tach wire (if equipped) going to the coil. Refer to your service manual, or reconnect the battery and use a test light or voltmeter. The switched +12 volt wire will be hot when the ignition key is turned on. 2. Refer to Figure 5. Connect the HI-4 red wire and switched +12 volt wire to Coil positive. 3. The HI-4 white wire is not used and should be taped. 4. Connect the HI-4 black wire to the Coil negative terminal. 5. Connect the HI-4 green wire to the vacuum switch (Figure 3, item 18), if used. 6. Connect the HI-4 brown wire to the tach wire, if equipped with tach. Tape up if unused. 7. The HI-4 is grounded via the timing housing; a separate ground connection is not required. 8. Reconnect battery ground cable. Verify proper ground connections to the frame and engine. VOES HOOKUP The OE vacuum switch (VOES) is normally an open circuit. Above 3-5 inch-Hg vacuum, the VOES closes and grounds the vacuum input on the OE ignition module. This increases the total advance generated by the OE ignition module. This t-tap plug is designed to work with Cycle Sounds audio systems. However it can be used to wire many add on 12 volt accessories to you Harley Davidson motorcycle. This plug is rated for 6-8 amps of power and should not be used for adding any product that is rated for more than the t-tap plug is rated for. Take the time to check the products power rating for which you want to install to make sure it is compatible with the t-taps amperage rating. Failure to do so couldlead to electrical failures, which could result in serious injuries or even death. it is possible to overload your motorcycles charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. U se amp meter to verify all power connections. Also check product power ratings for anything you are trying to install. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in serious injuries or even death. INSTRUCTIONS: Step 1: remove seat on bike and locate the wire harness under the seat that matches the plugs on the t-tap harness (2120-0026.) Location may vary between bike models. Step 2: unplug bike harness and snap each end of t-tap harness in correct plug opening. When finished connect power wires to the male plug.(all Cycle Sounds audio systems come pre wired with correct wire colors and terminals). When using this t-tap for any other 12 volt accessory, make sure the red and black wires are snapped into their proper pin connectors. Kit does not come with power terminals for the accessories device. See your local bike dealer for purchase of terminals

a) Locate the three wire Deutsche connector that is situated behind the left hand side panel as viewed from the rear of the bike. This is normally grey in colour, and the wires are coloured red, white and black. This connector connects the rear wheel sensor to the electronic speedo head. OEM Connector b) The table below shows the function of each wire Colour Function Red +ve volts White Signal to Speedo Black GND Green Signal from Rear Pickup The +ve volts red wire should be between 8 and 12 volts, typically it is only 8 volts which is on the limit of the Speedohealer range and it is necessary to source an alternative 12 volts supply e.g. from the fuse box. I used a feed from the accessory supply which is an Orange/White wire (You need a switched +12V so don’t use the battery positive terminal.) c) Tap into the wires from the rear wheel pick and solder the Speedo healer ensuring to use the provided heat shrink cable to cover the finished work. Wiring loom Note the red wire is not used from the connector. The green wire is the feed from the rear wheel sensor which is connected to the input wire (white or yellow) of the Speedohealer. The output of the Speedohealer which is the blue wire is connected to the white wire which goes to the Harley speedo. d) Get the power from the fuse box Alternative 12 volt from fuse box Alternative 12 volt from fuse box closeup e) A suitable location for the Speedohealer is on the side of the battery box. It can be fixed by using a cable tie. Fitted to battery box f) Finally this is the OEM electronic speedo (as seen from the front and rear) and the rear wheel pickup
