When replacing the ECM (SAE term: PCM) or the Transponder ECU a “handshake” procedure must be performed. This ECU ID communication is necessary to enable the Transponder ECU and the ECM to recognize each other before the vehicle will start. Complete ECU communication using the following steps: 1. Insert a Master key into the ignition cylinder. 2. Turn the ignition ON (engine OFF). 3. Short Tc and CG terminals of DLC3 using the Diagnostic Check Wire (SST 09843-18020 or equivalent) and leave for 30 minutes. 4. After 30 minutes, turn the ignition OFF and remove check wire from DLC3. 5. Register any additional keys as necessary. 6. Start the vehicle to confirm successful ECU communication. Key Programming: To program or delete a key, a registered Master key is necessary unless the Transponder ECU has been reset or replaced. The Transponder ECU system incorporates a black “Master” key and a gray “Sub” key. The process during registration of these two keys is identical. The key itself now determines if it functions as Master or Sub, not the registration procedure. The maximum number of allowable Master and Sub keys vary by model. Refer to the chart below.

Using a suitable felt marker, draw a line on the weld with the crack, drawing the line along the entire edge of the the template (this line will be 89 mm long). If the crack falls within the length of this line (89 mm) , prepare the motorcycle for welding per the Dealer Procedures and advise the welder to use the Cracked Weld Repair Manual (S0515). 1. Locate and remove right engine stud. Tip: Both main engine studs on the ZX6R tend to be very tight from the factory, use a stubby socket to remove stud. Make sure you have good engagement or the head of the bolt can strip. 2. Mount Right side frame slider using 99-HB-SH101250110 Socket Cap 10 X 1.25 X 110 Main Engine Stud and torque down to OEM torque specs. 3. Remove the left side OEM motor mount bolt. 4. Using the 10 X 1.25 X 110 Bolt supplied in the kit: Use the 99-SP-750-4200-L Left Side Bell Type Spacer Black Anodized 5. The small end of the (99-SP-750-4200-L Left Side Bell Type Spacer Black Anodized) goes against the left side of the frame. The longer of the two frame sliders goes on top of the spacer. 2002 Legend engines have the carburetor air vent hose connected between the 2 way valve and the canister, with a 108 main jet in the carburetor. The 2003 Legend engines have the air vent connected as shown in this diagram and the main jet increased to 120 to compensate for the reduced bowl pressure. All 2003, and subsequent Legend and Chetak engines, will have this hookup as shown with 120 size main jets. Warning: Seemingly small changes can make a big difference in altering the fuel/air ratio. Disconnect hoses or make changes at your peril. There is no horsepower to be gained by disconnecting this passive emission control system

Remove and retain the (4) chrome caps from the handlebar clamps. Remove and retain the (4) stock allen head bolts. This hardware will be re-used with the new Billet Tach Mount Kit. Carefully remove the stock handlebar clamps while supporting the handlebars. INSTALLATION: 2. Slide the Electronic Tachometer (#6) into the Billet Tach Mount (#2) and secure with the 10-24 X 1/4″ Socket Set Screw (#10) supplied. Carefully pull the tachometer wire harness through the larger hole in the Billet Tach Cup (#3) and secure the Billet Tach Cup with the 10-24 X 1/8″ Socket Set Screw supplied. (The additional holes in the tach cup are for air circulation). Attach the Billet Tach Mount to the Billet Handlebar Clamp (#1) with the two 10-24 X 1-3/4″ Socket Head Screws (#4) supplied. Install the Billet Tach Mount assembly with the four stock allen head bolts and chrome caps removed in step 1 above. Adjust handlebars to desired height and torque bolts to factory specs. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS: 3. Refer to FIG. #1 . Remove Seat. Disconnect negative cable from battery. Remove fuel tank retaining bolts. Raise fuel tank about 3″-4″ to expose the Left Side Ignition Coil. It is not necessary to completely remove the gas tank on the Road Star. (V-Star 1100 applications use the right front coil and require fuel tank removal.) TIP: Long needle nose pliers are useful in removing and re-installing the coil wires. If desired, tach wire loom may be shortened as necessary. Using an appropriate crimping tool, connect the Tachometer wires in the following manner: Cut Shrink Tubing (#9) into two 1″ pieces
