Remove the stock transfer case from the stock tailhousing adapter. The stock tailhousing is retained along with the stock rubber crossmember support. Once the transfer case is removed, you’ll see a seal located in the stock tailhousing. This seal must be removed and discarded. Some tailhousings also had a bearing which also must be removed. Install the new oil seal into the large end of the seal adapter. The sealing lip should be facing down. The small end of the seal adapter has the same O.D. (outside diameter) as the old seal that was just removed from the stock tailhousing. The seal adapter is a press-fit into the stock tail and should now be installed. The kit comes with a new spud shaft which fits over the stock Toyota transmission 26 spline output shaft. This spud shaft has a Jeep 23 male spline on the opposite side which fits into a standard 23 spline Atlas case. When installing the spud shaft into the Toyota transmission, the spud shaft does not seal onto the new seal just previously installed. The seal contacts seal off of the Atlas input shaft. The adapter plate should now be installed onto the Atlas transfer case. The adapter plate indexes off of the Atlas front retainer

Ignition timing check 1. Ignition timing is checked with a timing light by observing the position of the rotor pointer and the marks stamped on the timing plate. The timing plate is marked as follows. “ll” Firing range for No. 1 (L.H.) “T” Top Dead Center for No. 1, fL.H.1 cylinder 2. Connect the timing light to the left cylinder spark plug lead wire. 3. Start the engine and keep the engine speed as specified. Use a tachometer to check the engine speed. B. PICK-UP COIL ASSEMBLY The method of mounting the pick-up coil assembly is changed for easier service work. Thus, the followings “Pick-up coil assembly removal” and “Pick-up coil assembly reinstallation” should be changed. Pick-up coil assembly removal Remove the pick-up coil securing screws and remove the pick-up coil assembly. Pick-up coil assembly reinstallation Install the pick-up coil assembly on to the stator assembly. _ L 4. Specified engine speed: 1,200 r/min The rotor pointer should be within the limits of ” fl ” on the timing plate. If it exceeds the limits or does not steady, check the timing plate for tight- ness and/or ignition system for damage. NOTE: Ignition timing is not adjustable. C. FUEL LEVEL The carburetor is furnished with a drain screw to provide easy access to service work. Thus, the following “Fuel level measurement” should be added. Fuel level measurement NOTE: Before checking the fuel level, note the follow- ing: 1. Place the motorcycle on a level surface. 2. Adjust the motorcycle position by placing a suitable stand or a garage jack under the engine so that the carburetor is positioned vertically. 1. 2. Connect the level gauge (special tool) or a vinyl pipe of 6 mm (0.24 in) in inside diameter to the float bowl nozzle left or right side carburetor. Set the gauge as shown and loosen the drain screw 3. Start the engine and stop it after a few minutes of run. This procedure is neces- sary to obtain the correct fuel level. NOTE: Make sure the fuel petcock is “ON” or “RES” oosition. 4. Note the fuel level and bring the gauge to the other end of the carburetor line and repeat step 3 above. Note the fuel level again and compare it with the previous gauge reading. They should be equal. If not, place a suitable size of wooden piece or the. alike under the center stand and adjust. 5. Check the fuel level one by one. The level should be in the specified range.

Starting at the beginning of production for the 2002 model year for Lexus and 2004 for Toyota, a spin-off of the U140/U240 Four speed transaxle, designated as the U150/U250 series was born. This transmission is classified as a 5 speed transmission, although it has 6 ratio’s possible in the Drive position. The U150/250 is very similar to it’s smaller brother, the U140, and actually uses some of the same parts. This Transaxles shift points, and shift feel are electronically controlled by a Powertrain Control Module. This is accomplished by the PCM monitoring engine load and adjusting solenoid duty cycle to match pressure rise and shift feel. The PCM also monitors the turbine and output speed sensors to calculate gear ratio and the Transmission Range Sensor for gear selection.

At its core, the Tundra light duty pickup’s stock engine was replaced with a medium duty diesel powerplant plucked from a 35,000-pound commercial truck. cause: Gears are not correctly and fully engaged. The edges of the shift dogs and shift gears are rounded. Solution: Beginning with the 1997 model year, a modified set of gears has been introduced in production. Service Remedy: Installation of tolerance-optimized gears and shift forks is now possible. Parts: The installation of the optimized parts is to be done in accordance with the listing on the next page, based on the individual gearbox type and nature of complaint . We also recommend installation of the new “clean bearings” where applicable as noted. Clean Bearings: BMW has introduced deep-groove ball bearings which are sealed, therefore the bearings operate in their own lubricant rather than the gearbox lubricant. Clean bearings provide longer life expectancy and on some models provide the opportunity to extend gearbox lubrication intervals without reducing bearing life expectancy. Note: On a gearbox before the introduction of clean bearings, the layshaft roller bearing cannot be replaced with a ball bearing, since the ball bearing’s outer diameter is larger and the layshaft is longer. On the input shaft, we recommend always using the new ball bearing instead of the tapered roller bearing. Caution: New Shimming Procedure!
