Remove the stock muffler and rear cylinder head pipe as described in your owner’s manual. Retain the stock fasteners for MudSlinger installation. (Do not remove the front cylinder head pipe; this will be used with your new system). 2) Remove stock Heat Shield and retain for MudSlinger installation. 3) Remove and inspect the rear cylinder exhaust gasket. Retain or replace for MudSlinger installation. MUDSLINGER INSTALLATION: 1) Slide the 1 ¾ T-bolt clamp over the supplied Y pipe and attach pipe to MudSlinger muffler. (DO NOT TIGHTEN) 2) Slide the 1 ½ T-bolt clamp over the front cylinder head pipe. 3) Install the new Y pipe and muffler using the stock fasteners. Align the muffler with the rear mount point on the frame. (DO NOT TIGHTEN). 4) Tighten all clamps and fasteners starting with the two flange nuts at the exhaust port and working back to the muffler. 5) Re-install the stock heat shield. (NOTE: only 2 fasteners will be used to install the heat shield to the new system. Make sure to use medium strength Loctite on the 2 fasteners when installing). 6) Start and check for leaks then re-install all body panels. IMPORTANT: After a short test ride, check and retighten all fasteners as necessary. CLEANING & MAINTENANCE The Mudslinger system is manufactured from stainless steel and aluminum. Stainless steel is used for its high strength at high temperatures and resistance to corrosion. The aluminum is used for it’s weight and strength. Before you run your new SuperTrapp MudSlinger for the first time, clean all grease, fingerprints, and dirt from the entire system. (A good glass cleaner works well.) A clean, grease-free surface will allow even coloration. Over time, the MudSlinger will begin to take on a gold tint. The coloration will be relatively even throughout the entire system. The hotter you get the system, the darker it will become. Due to the unique properties of these materials, the care of the MudSlinger is minimal. The following instructions should be followed to maintain your MudSlinger muffler

Relationship Between Tire Characteristics and Vehicle Pulling to One Side When radial tires are rotating, they have the characteristic of generating force in the lateral direction between the tire and the road surface. This lateral force is comprised of two factors: S Ply-steer, which changes direction according to the rotation direction of the tires.
S Conicity, which is generated in a fixed direction regardless of the tire rotation direction. If these lateral forces are too strong, vehicle pulling will occur. A. Ply-Steer Lateral force due to ply-steer is produced by the construction of the belts inside the tire tread. With radial tires, the wire of the belt is slanted as shown in the illustration below. Thus, it is in the lateral direction that tire tread easily changes shape (stretches), and lateral force is generated between the tire and the road surface in the lateral direction.

Original Equipment Voltage Regulator  NOTE For 2007 models: The ground wire on the voltage regulator must be re-attached at the original location when re-installing the voltage regulator to ensure adequate ground. 4. For ALL models: See Figure 1. Remove and discard the voltage regulator caddy cover (6) from the regulator bracket (3) and caddy (5). For 2007 models: In addition, remove the lower voltage regulator cover (10). 5. Remove and retain the hex socket head screw (4) at the top left of the bracket For 2007 models: In addition, disconnect the ground wire. Free the cable straps (9) from the regulator bracket, beneath the regulator. 6. Remove the two hex socket head screws with washers (2) retaining the voltage regulator to the bracket. Remove and save the regulator, but discard the screws. 7. Remove and retain the screw (4) at the top right of the regulator bracket. Remove the bracket from the engine. 8. For 2008 and later models: Free the strap (9) that ties the jiffy stand wiring to the voltage regulator bracket. Unfasten the three-way jiffy stand sensor connector and the two-way crank position sensor connector [79] (12) from the T-studs on the back of the regulator bracket (3). Discard the bracket. Disconnect both plugs from the back of the voltage regulator (1). For 2007 models: Unfasten the four-way (7) and two-way (8) voltage regulator connectors from the T-studs on the back of the regulator bracket (3), and discard the bracket. Disconnect the voltage regulator (1) at both connectors. 9. For 2008 and later models: Unclip the two-way O 2 (oxygen) sensor electrical connector [138] (11) from the voltage regulator caddy (5). For 2007 models: Unfasten the two-way crank position sensor connector [79] (12) from the voltage regulator caddy (5). Remove the caddy from the vehicle frame. a. For 2007 models: Unclamp the bottom of the caddy from the engine mount spacers. b. For ALL models: Unhook the top clips from around the tabs on the front of the engine casting. Remove the original equipment (O.E.) caddy from the vehicle frame, and discard it.

DRILLING AND TAPPING PROCEDURE Wear safety glasses or goggles while drilling. Flying debris could result in serious eye injury. (00565b) NOTE Perform the following procedure on both the front and rear cylinder heads. Tool Setup NOTE Due to slight manufacturing differences, it may be necessary to tap the fixture into place with a rubber mallet. Do NOT use excessive force. 1. Align the fixture’s locating pins with the 3/8 inch tooling holes in the head and install the fixture on the head. 2. See Figure 1 and Figure 6. Secure the fixture (1) to the head with two 5/16-18 socket head cap screws (2) and washers (9) included in the kit. Install the screws in the holes marked “F” when modifying the front head or in the holes marked “R” when modifying the rear head. Tighten screws to 80 in-lbs (9 Nm) . 3. See Figure 3 and Figure 6. Install the drill bushing (3) in the bore marked “FRONT” when modifying the front head or in the bore marked “REAR” when modifying the rear head. 4. Tighten drill bushing set screw to 50 in-lbs (5.6 Nm) . 5. See Figure 2 and Figure 6. Install collar stop (4) onto the 1/2 inch diameter shank of the step drill bit (5). NOTE: The maximum riding height is the level of the second groove! -Tighten the middle bolt of the lower triple clamp to a torque of 17 Nm! -Tighten the first bolt of the lower triple clamp to a torque of 17 Nm! -Tighten the third bolt of the lower triple clamp to a torque of 17 Nm!

There is an existing 1 inch hole in the right body panel, remove right side bolt. Mount right side puck (shorter slider) with (99-HB-SH10125080) Socket Cap 10 X 1.25 X 80 Main Engine Stud and torque down. 2. Remove left side panel. 3. Locate the left side engine stud and remove bolt. (arrow below is pointing to bolt location) 4. Some photos in this section are used for illustration examples only. It is up to you how you decide to cut your motorcycles bodywork to accept the frame slider there are many different ways customers go through this process. Shogun is not responsible for any part of your motorcycle for any reason. Precisely measure location of cut and if in doubt at any point please call us before the install process has begun. Professional installation is recommended. Always use proper safety measures during the install of this product. Do not try to install this product without proper tools, recently calibrated torque wrench, correct torque specifications from factory service manual, safety goggles and gloves. 5. Body Prep. Use masking tape to completely mask off the area on the body where you will be working. We usually will tape off approximately 6 to 8 inches around the though hole area and any other edges that could get bumped or scratched while working. Tip: In some locations you may want to double up the thickness of the masking take to give extra protection.

CHASSIS BOLT AND NUT Check that all chassis bolts and nuts are tightened to their specified torque. (Refer to below and page 2-29 of SV1000S Service manual for the locations of the following nuts and bolts on the motorcycle.) CHASSIS FRONT FORK REMOUNTING Align the upper surface A of the inner tube with the upper surface B of the steering stem upper bracket. Tighten initially at 1 000 km (600 miles, 1 month) and every 6 000 km (4 000 miles, 6 months) thereafter. ITEM N·m kgf-m lb-ft 1 Handlebar clamp bolt 23 2.3 16.5 2 Handlebar holder set nut 45 4.5 32.5 SV1000K3 5 SUSPENSION SETTING After installing the front fork, adjust the spring pre-load and damping force as follows. SPRING PRE-LOAD ADJUSTMENT There are eight grooves on the spring adjuster. Position 1 provides the maximum spring pre-load and position 8 provides the minimum spring pre-load. STD position: 7 DAMPING FORCE ADJUSTMENT Rebound damping force Fully turn the damping force adjuster 1 clockwise. It is at stiffest position and turn it out to standard setting position. STD position: 1 and 1/4 turns out from stiffest position Compression damping force Fully turn the damping force adjuster 2 clockwise. It is at stiffest position and turn it out to standard setting position. STD position: 1 turn out from stiffest position STANDARD FRONT SUSPENSION SETTING ! FRONT Spring pre-load adjuster Damping force adjuster Rebound Compression Solo and dual riding 7 1 and 1/4 turns out from stiffest position 1 turn out from stiffest position Be sure to adjust the spring pre-load and damping force on both front fork legs equally. 6 SV1000K3 HANDLEBARS REMOVAL AND DISASSEMBLY Remove the handlebar balancer 1. NOTE: Do not remove the handlebar balancer mounting screw before removing the handlebar balancer. Slightly loosen the mounting screw, and then pull the balancer assembly out of handlebars. Remove the rear view mirror 2. Disconnect the front brake light switch coupler 3. Remove the front brake master cylinder. Remove the right handlebar switch 4 and throttle grip 5. NOTE Do not allow the threaded studs to damage the gasket sealing surface of the cylinder head. 2. See Figure 7 and Table 1. Mount a cylinder head to the tooling plate (1). 3. Place a head bolt spacer (7) over each stock head bolt and lubricate threads and thrust faces, dowels and studs. Tighten head bolts in a crisscross pattern to 10 ft-lbs (13.5 Nm) . 4. See Figure 1. Align the top plate (7) bolt and dowel holes with the head hole pattern, Screamin’ Eagle logo towards the spark plug. This plate will only fit one way for the cylinder head it is being installed on. If the plate does not align with the head, turn it over keeping the logo towards the spark plug and install the cylinder head. 5. Lubricate the two dowel pins (6) and insert in the top plate and into the cylinder head. 6. Apply lubricant to the two socket head screws (4 and 5). Insert into their respective holes in the plate to the cylinder head and tighten to 5 ft-lbs (6.8 Nm)
