Refer to Instruction Sheet-J03018. NOTES VRSCA models use Headlamp 68297-05, while VRSCB models use original equipment lens assembly (including gasket and boot). Adapter ring from kit (Figure 6, Item 1) will be used to install billet headlamp assembly on Instruction Sheet-J03018. 2. See Figure 3. Cut the two connectors (1) from existing headlamp wire harness (2). Be sure to cut the wires as close to the back of the connector as possible. 3. See Figure 6. Route new wire harness (2) through the hole in bottom of the billet headlamp shell (A). NOTE Only one 16 AWG wire will fit into pin terminals included in kit. Both black wires (ground) can be joined together, then connected to a single wire, if desired. 4. Tape end of one black wire with electrical tape and secure it to wire harness. 5. See Figure 3 and Figure 6. Install terminal pin (3) and socket housing (4) onto new wire harness (Figure 6, Item 2). Remove the seat from the motorcycle.2. Lift the ignition module off of the battery cover and let it drape over the side of the motorcycle. 3. Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery cable. 4. Remove the gas tank and set it aside. There is a vent line at the right rear of the tank, a vacuum line and the gas feed line on the left side of the tank at the petcock, and two speedometer connectors at the left front of the gas tank. 5. Remove the clip from the top of the steering head cover and remove the right hand side cover. See picture at right. 6. Remove the headlight to expose the wiring connectors inside the headlight shell. 7. Remove the left-hand side cover. On the left side of the frame is an electrical wire shroud wire tied to the left side of the frame with a reusable wire tie. Inside this cover is the 3-pin connector that connects the ignition switch to the bike’s wiring harness. Pull the small lever back to release the wire tie and remove the wire tie. Pull back the wire shroud to reveal the wire connectors inside. Disconnect the 3-pin connector that comes from the ignition switch. Remove the two bolts holding the ignition switch to the bike’s frame. See Picture at right. Remove the ignition switch from the bike. You may have to remove the connector body from the ignition switch wires to slide the wires through the frame when removing the ignition switch. You may now reinstall the side cover. 8. Lay the new wiring harness along the backbone of the bike with the two 9-pin connectors at the headlight and the 6-pin and 3-pin connectors at the battery. Insert the two 9-pin connectors through the large hole in the back of the headlight shell. Inside the headlight shell is a red 9-pin connector. Disconnect this red 9-pin connector and insert the new wiring harness connecting each side to the red 9-pin connectors. See picture at right

Installation R1200 C -Removethechrome right air filter cover. Release the brake fluid reservoir from its mount. Follow the oxygen sensor lead from the exhaust to the connector. It is mounted to the back of the brake fluid reservoir mounting bracket with cable ties. Cut the cable ties to release the connector from the bracket. Gently pull the connector apart. Insert the male O2 connector from the R259 into the oxygen sensor lead. Connect the female side of the R259sO2 connector to the bike’swiringharness side. Make sure both sets of connectors are fully seated. Cable tie the sensor lead connector back to the bracket and tuck the other O2 connector under the front of theairhorn. -Depressthe retaining bail on the right fuel injector connector and gently pull off the connector. Install this connector on the male R259 injector lead. Install the remaining R259 connector on the right injector. -Connecttheground lead by removing the allen screw (5mmhex) that secures theairboxtothe frame. Place the screw through the lug on the ground lead and reinstall and tighten the screw. Go to section 3 and verify power-up. Tuck the wiring below and behind theairhornand cable tie as necessary. Installation R850, R1100, R1150, R1100S -Refertothe appropriate BMW service guides and remove the fuel tank. On some models it maybe possible to have an assistant lift the tank up and to the left to expose the oxygen sensor connector, without fully disconnecting the tank. Locate the oxygen sensor connector by following the lead from the exhaust system. It will be cable tied to the right frame backbone. Cut the retaining cable ties and pull the connector away from the frame. Open the connector and insert the male R259 O2 connector into the oxygen sensor lead, and the female to the bike’swiringharness. Cable tie these back to the right frame backbone. -Routethe R259 wiring harness down the right frame, in-between the battery tray and the rear fuel tank mount. Using the supplied velcro attach the R259 to theairboxlid. Locate the lead on the right fuel injector, and while depressing the locking bail on the connector, gently pull the leadoff. Install this lead on the R259 male injector connector; install the remaining connector on R259 harness to the right injector. Make sure all of the connectors are fully seated. Cable tie any excess wiring away from the fuel lines and throttle mechanism. -Connecttheground lead to the battery negative terminal or an alternate good ground. -Re-install the fuel tank. Make sure the fuel lines are connected and their routing is correct. Insure that both throttle cables are correctly seated in their adjusters on the throttle bodies, and that nothing interferes with the throttle mechanisms on either throttle body. Turn the key on and allow the fuel system to pressurize. CHECK FOR ANY FUEL LEAKS and repair as necessary. Go to section 3 to verify power-up. Re-install any other bodywork removed. Von Kuenheim continues: “By raising capacity to 1300 cc, our engineers have not only increased output but also torque on all three models. At the same time the driveline was intensively revised from air/fuel mixture formation right through to the exhaust system. In this way we have been able to optimize partial load behavior as well as throttle response. Now the clutch can be operated with even less effort and with greater refinement. Shifting has been improved tangibly due to constructional changes to the gearbox and drive.” BMW is introducing new options for the 2009 as well. The popular Electronic Suspension Adjustment that first appeared on the 2005 K 1200 S has now been updated with even more on-the-fly adjustability and it’s called ESA II. Also new is the quick-shifter option, racing-style gear shift assistant, borrowed from BMW’s race-ready HP2 Sport. Automatic Stability Control (ASC) is also offered as an option on the new K bikes. “Both the K 1300 S and also the R will also have the shift assistant – familiar from the HP2 Sport – available as an option for the first time,” von Kuenheim emphasized. “We have also advanced the chassis. The new lower longitudinal strut is now made of aluminum and is thus considerably lighter. This makes the front wheel guidance response even more sensitive. The result of this comprehensive development work is superior handling, improved rideability and lower fuel consumption. The electronically adjustable suspension – called ESA in short – was launched as a world first on the K 1200 S. Now we are presenting the new, well-proven ESA II as an option for the K Series. Apart from the suspension and damping this unique system also allows the spring rate to be adjusted at the press of a button. The K Series model revision also heralds a new and innovative generation of switches and controls.

Identify the fork tube clamp for right- side (RT) or left-side (LFT) installation as indicated in Figure 3. NOTE The lower grommets (4) have been pre-installed into the Lexan® windshield. 2. Insert the rounded end of the post into the socket in the fork-tube clamp, oriented as shown in Figure 5. Lining up the hole in the end of the post with the hole in the clamp. With a 3 mm hex key, fasten the post to the clamp with the flat-head screw (16) from the kit, and tighten to 6.8 Nm (60 in-lbs ). 3. Place the clamp around the correct-side fork tube with the hinge-pin head facing up. Insert the two longer screws (15) from the lower mount kit through the counterbored holes in the outboard side of the clamp, and thread the screws part-way into the tapped holes in the inboard half. 4. Position the clamp so the top surface is approximately 6 to 13 mm (1/4 to 1/2 inch) below the upper triple-tree, and the hinge pin is straight forward. With a 4 mm hex key, tighten the screws just enough to hold the clamp in posi- tion. 5. Obtain the remaining lower mount kit and repeat Steps 2 through 4 to install the clamp to the opposite fork tube. 6. Obtain the upper mount kit from the windshield kit carton. NOTE The upper grommets (4), socket assemblies (3), windshield mount caps (6) and 5 mm screws (9) have been pre-installed into the windshield. 7. Place one of the handlebar clamps (5) onto one side of the handlebar, in the straight section between the riser and the handlebar controls, oriented as shown in Figure 4. NOTE Temporarily disengage the switch harness retainer from the handlebar to allow installation of the clamp.

These kits fit all motorcycle models equipped with 7-inch headlamps. These kits do not fit models equipped with Headlamp Trim Ring Kits part numbers 69626-99, 69627-99, 69733-05, and 69734-05.INSTALLATION 1. See Figure 1. Remove original equipment bottom screw (1) and trim ring (2). Save parts for later use. 2. See Figure 3 and Table 2. Install headlamp visor (1) from kit and trim ring (A) previously removed. NOTE Make sure the screw holes in the trim ring and the headlamp assembly are aligned as it is difficult to rotate the trim ring when it is fully seated. 3. Loosely install bottom screw (C) previously removed on trim ring. Do not tighten at this time. 4. See Figure 2. Visually check to ensure that rubber bumpers on inside face of headlamp housing are not caught. 5. Snug bottom screw on trim ring and headlamp visor. 6. Rotate visor from side to side around headlamp assembly (B) if ring is caught on face of headlamp. 7. Push down on top of trim ring and push in on the bottom of the trim ring to fully seat the headlamp visor. 8. Installation 1. Remove upper screws that attach the chrome headlamp nacelle to the front forks. 2. See Service Parts illustration. Attach the upper docking bushings (22) using washer (21) and mushroom head screws (20) Use Loctite 242 (blue) on screw threads. Torque screws to 19 ft-lbs (25.8 Nm). 3. Remove lower screws that attach the chrome headlamp nacelle to the front forks. 4a. For vehicles equipped with the Chrome Headlamp Nacelle, attach the lower docking bushing (22) using washer (21) and button head screw (23). 4b. For vehicles equipped with the Street Stalker Headlamp Nacelle, attach the lower docking bushing (22) using washer (21) and button head screw (24). Installing/Removing Windshield 1. Carefully lock bottom windshield assembly jaws into grooves of the lower rubber docking bushings. 2. Hook the top windshield assembly jaws into grooves of the upper rubber docking bushings. 3. Firmly press the windshield into place until seated on docking bushings. 4. To remove windshield, grab windshield edges on each side of center brace and firmly pull windshield loose from docking bushings. 1 WARNING Carefully inspect windshield upon completion of installation. Be sure windshield mounting does not restrict full left or full right movement of front fork assembly. Restricted movement could affect handling, resulting in personal injury. If restriction does occur, adjust windshield as needed until proper clearance is obtained. Have experienced Harley-Davidson service personnel correct any problems before riding with this accessory installed. 1 CAUTION Check mounting hardware periodically. Never ride with loose mounts. A loose mounting causes extra stress on all other mounts, as well as the windshield itself, and could result in premature failure of either or both. 1 CAUTION Do not clean Lexan®polycarbonate in hot sun or high temperature. Powdered, abrasive or alkaline cleanser will damage the windshield. Never scrape the windshield with a razor blade or other sharp instruments because permanent damage will result. Sunlight reflections off of the inside curvature of a windshield can, at certain times of the day, cause extreme heat build-up on motorcycle instruments. Exercise care in parking. Park facing the sun, place an opaque object over the instruments, or adjust the windshield to avoid reflections. Harley-Davidson windshields are made of Lexan®. Lexan®is a more durable and distortion-resistant material than other types of motorcycle windshield material, but still requires attention and care to maintain. • Do not use liquid windshield “protectors” on your windshield. Although they may work well on automobile safety glass, Harley-Davidson cannot ensure the results when used on Lexan®Harley- Davidson windshields. If you want to use a windshield protectant on your windshield, try Harley Glaze Polish and Sealant®. • Do not use benzine, paint thinner, gasoline, or other types of harsh cleaning agents on windshield. They will damage the windshield surface. • Do not use benzine, paint thinner, gasoline, lubricants (including Armorall), or other cleaning agents on the rubber bushings. They will damage the bushing surfaces
