1. Remove seat and fuel tank. 2. Remove airbox and left airbox cover. We highly recommend you consult the factory service manual for proper removal of airbox. 3. Route wiring harness under frame bracket towards airbox. (Fig 1) 4. Unplug stock black connector for fuel injectors. (Fig 2) 5. Plug Fuelpak 4-pin connectors in-line with the connectors from step 4. 6. Unplug the TPS connector and attach T-tap connector to the center wire (yellow). (Fig 3) 7. Route the Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap. (Fig 4) 8. Reattach the TPS connector. 9. Route black wire to the front of engine and down to the horn. (Fig 5) 10. Disconnect the factory black/white wire from horn. Plug Fuelpak into horn and plug Fuelpak black/white wire to Fuelpak connector. 11. Route black and green wires to battery negative. 12. Attach Fuelpak to Fuelpak harness and mount under seat as shown. (Fig 6) 13. Before reassembling the bike, make sure handlebar switch is in the engine-not-running position and turn the key on. Fuelpak should light up. Sound the horn. If Fuelpak turns off when the horn is sounded, recheck the black wire connection on the horn and that it is connected to the correct wire from the factory harness. 14. Follow the service manual to reinstall the airbox and gas tank. As the next procedure, after you have entered in your values for the first 18 modes, press the mode select button to move to mode 19. Fully twist open the throttle and return to idle position to calibrate the Fuelpak to your bike. 6. By pressing the mode select button twice, move to mode 21 and verify that it reads “0″ with the throttle closed, “50″ at approximately half-throttle and “99″ when fully opened; if not, repeat step 5. Do not proceed to step 7 until mode 21 is verified. 7. Enter any other mode values as required for your application. 8. Turn off power. 9. Reinstall clear cover, tuck Fuelpak under seat area and reinstall seat. 10. You are now ready to ride.

1. Be sure the main switch is in the off position during the installation process. Failure to do this will cause the “check engine” light to be set. 2. Remove seat exposing the tool tray and battery. 3. Remove the (2) 12mm Hex head bolts securing rear of tank. Prop up the rear of the tank. 4. Locate and unplug the white 4-pin connector under left side of tank as shown in figure 1. 5. Route Fuelpak as shown in figure 2. Plug Fuelpak white connectors to the factory connectors unplugged in step 4. 6. Connect brown and green wires to the negative side of the battery. 7. Route Fuelpak long black wire under right side of tank and down to the horn as shown in figure 3. Disconnect the factory black / white wire from horn. Plug in Fuelpak long black wire to horn and then connect factory black / white wire to terminal on Fuelpak black wire. 8. Locate the throttle position sensor on the throttle body located on right side of the tank. As shown in figure 4, attach T-tap to yellow / black wire on throttle position sensor. Connect Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap. 9. Using supplied Velcro, mount Fuelpak next to tool tray as shown in figure 5. 10. Reinstall tank with (2) 12mm Hex head bolts removed in step 3. 11. You are now ready to set-up your Fuelpak 1. Remove Fuelpak clear case cover by removing all four screws, save hardware . 2. Turn on main power with key, but do not start engine. Fuelpak display should light up, if not, turn power off and verify the connectors are fully seated. 3. 1. Be sure the main switch is in the off position during the installation process. Failure to do this will cause the “check engine” light to be set. 2. STEP 1 – BATTERY CONNECTION Locate the battery and disconnect the negative battery cable. Mount the module in the open area in front of the battery with 2-tie straps or velcro straps, directing the harness from the module towards the 6 o’clock position. STEP 2 – THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS): Remove the air cleaner assembly and unplug the TPS sensor connector at the TPS sensor. The harness includes (2) TPS connectors which should be routed under the gas tank into the factory wire loom to the TPS sensor. The TPS sensor is located on the left side of the throttle body. Plug the (2) TPS connectors from the module in between the TPS sensor and to the factory TPS connector. STEP 3 – O2 SENSOR: Systems equipped with factory O2 sensors Rear: Unplug the Rear O2 sensor connector from the factory harness, which is located at the Rear exhaust pipe. Route the module’s harness which includes (2) O2 sensor connectors and connect one connector to the Rear O2 sensor and connect the other connector to the main factory O2 sensor connector. Front: Unplug the Front O2 sensor connector from the factory harness, which is located at the Front exhaust pipe. Route the module’s harness which includes (2) O2 sensor connectors, and connect one connector to the Front O2 sensor and connect the other connector to the main factory O2 sensor connector. Systems not equipped with factory O2 sensors NOTE: Many aftermarket exhaust systems are now equipped with plugged O2 sensor bungs which can be removed to accept an aftermarket O2 sensor. Typically these bungs already have a thread size of 18 mm x 1.5 mm. Exhaust systems not equipped with O2 sensor bungs need to have the supplied 18 mm x 1.5 mm thread size bung welded to the exhaust pipe in order to install an O2 sensor. The O2 sensor bung should be installed 3 to 6 inches away from the rear cylinder exhaust port and in front of the exhaust torque tube pipe area. The module prefers to receive information from the O2 sensor from an area that is NOT contaminated from atmospheric air. This air may enter through the tail pipe of an unrestricted or un-baffled exhaust pipe. The bung should not be installed in the “5 to 7 o’clock” area. If mounted in this area the O2 sensor can be damaged. The moisture from the gases exiting from the rear cylinder exhaust port will harm the ceramic shell element of the O2 sensor.

The electrical circuit of the warning light can be checked by turning the key to “ON”. If the warning light does not come on for a few seconds, then go off, have a Yamaha dealer check the electrical cir- cuit. NOTE: Even if the oil level is sufficient, the warning light may flicker when riding on a slope or during sudden acceleration or deceleration, but this is not a malfunction. This model is also equipped with a self-diagnosis device for the oil level detection circuit. If the oil level detection circuit is defective, the following cycle will be repeated until the malfunction is corrected: The oil level warning light will flash ten times, then go off for 2.5seconds. If this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer check the motor- cycle. EAU00061 Neutral indicator light “” This indicator light comes on when the transmission is in the neutral position. EAU04896 Engine trouble warning light “” This warning light comes on or flashes when an electrical circuit monitoring the engine is defective. When this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer check the self-diagnosis system. (See page 3-7 for an explanation of the self-diagnosis device.) INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS 3-1 3 EAU10460 Main switch/steering lock The main switch/steering lock controls the ignition and lighting systems, and is used to lock the steering. The various positions are described below. EAU10540 ON All electrical circuits are supplied with power, and the meter lighting, taillight, license plate light and position lights come on, and the engine can be started. The key cannot be removed. NOTE: The headlight comes on automatically when the engine is started and stays on until the key is turned to “OFF”, even if the engine stalls. EAU10660 OFF All electrical systems are off. The key can be removed. EAU10680 LOCK The steering is locked, and all electrical systems are off. The key can be re- moved. To lock the steering 1. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left. 2. Push the key in from the “OFF” position, and then turn it to “LOCK” while still pushing it. 3. Remove the key. To unlock the steering Push the key in, and then turn it to “OFF” while still pushing it. WARNING EWA10060 Never turn the key to “OFF” or “LOCK” while the vehicle is moving, otherwise the electrical systems will be switched off, which may result in loss of control or an accident. 1. Remove seat, exposing factory computer (ECU). disconnect factory wiring by pressing lock and pushing lever back. 2. Remove ECU by pushing tab and sliding the ECU to the right as you lift. 3. Gently align the pins of the Fuelpak connector with the ECU and press the connector on the ECU. Be sure the single large pin is aligned with the single large socket before pressing Fuelpak connector into the ECU. Make sure all four tabs fully latch. (Fuelpak connector Patent Pending# 29 295831) 4. Connect factory wiring to Fuelpak connector and pull lever to locked location. Be sure that lock snaps into position. 5. Reinstall ECU. 6. Remove left side cover. 7. Slide Fuelpak down through opening leading to the area under the left side cover. 8. Attach Fuelpak to the fuse cover using supplied velcro.

The clutch lever is pulled to the handlebar (the clutch switch is closed) and the side- stand is up (the sidestand switch is closed). The starting circuit cut-off relay prevents the starter motor from operating when neither of these conditions has been met. In this instance, the starting circuit cut-off relay is open so current cannot reach the starter motor. When at least one of the above conditions has been met the starting circuit cut-off relay is closed and the engine can be started by pressing the starter switch. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL WHEN THE SIDESTAND IS UP AND THE CLUTCH LEVER IS PULLED TO THE HANDLEBAR 4. Starting circuit cut-off relay Disconnect the starting circuit cut-off relay from the wire harness.
