Remove lower section of rear fender • Using care not to damage the threads, drill 1/8″ pilot hole up through subframe and rear fender (fig1) • Remove fender, enlarge pilot hole in upper subframe with 1/4″ drill, do not drill out threads- take care not to damage threads in subframe. • Enlarge holes in fender to 5/8″ • Install upper section of rear fender, insert enclosed 5/8″ spacers in fender holes (fig.2) • Install cross brace (bolt holes closer to front of bike) using enclosed M6 X 50mm button head bolt (fig 3) • Re-install lower fender section using original stepped washer with enclosed 6mm nuts (fig 4) • Install side brackets as shown in fig 5 – replace subframe bolts with enclosed flat head bolts at forward mounting points if necessary.

Protect the rear portion of the front fender with a towel or other thick, soft cloth. Remove the OEM engine guards if they have been installed on the motorcycle. Your new Barons engine guard will fasten to the frame at the same points as the OEM guard and will use the same hardware. 2. Or, if OEM engine guards are not present, remove the 14mm bolts from the underside of the drivers footpeg mounts. 3. Remove the 12mm upper engine mount bolts located on both sides of the frame. Replacement bolts are included with your new engine guard. 4. Position the engine guard so that the lower brackets point towards the rear of the motorcycle, and slide the engine guard into the space between the front wheel and the frame. 5. Raise the guard until the holes in the lower mounting brackets align with the vacated bolt holes beneath the drivers footpegs. Due to production line tolerances in both the motorcycle and the engine guard, the mounting brackets may be too wide or too narrow for the frame. If this is the case, remove the guard from the motorcycle. Place the guard on a flat, firm surface. Insert a towel or other protective material between the guard and the surface. Using a rubber mallet or a block of wood and a hammer, tap the lower brackets until they are correctly spaced. 6. Insert the large washers (supplied with the guard) between the rear face of the lower bracket and the frame. The washer fills the space between the lower mounting bracket and the footpeg mount. Reinsert the 14mm bolts and finger tighten. 7. Rotate the guard until the holes in the upper mounting brackets align with the empty holes on each side of the frame. 8. Insert the replacement 13mm bolts, along with their washers, and tighten securely. Tighten all other nuts and bolts securely. 9. Remove the protection on the front fender and you’re ready to ride. CAUTION!!! You must re-tighten all four of the engine guard mounting bolts after 100 miles of riding! Care & Cleaning: Engine guards take the full brunt of the worst of what the weather in your area has to offer, making it critical that proper and complete cleaning take place on a weekly basis, or corrosion will occur which is not covered by warranty! Proper cleaning procedure would be to use a product like Simple Green, LOC, Salt-Away or similar. Mix a strong batch and apply it liberally with a soft towel or soft nylon brush to the entire

This kit is designed for 1986 and later FLSTC, FLST, FLSTF and FLSTN model motorcycles equipped with a windshield and/or passing lamps. If your FLST, FLSTC, FLSTF or FLSTN is equipped with a windshield but not a passing lamp assembly, you will need two washers 5/16 x 1 x 1/8 in. (HD Part Number 6645). These washers will be used as spacers for the bottom of the deflector. This kit is also designed to fit with accessory five gallon Fat Bob Gas Tanks. Installation 1. See Figures 1 and 2. On Rigid Mount Windshields, remove the bolts (1), lockwashers (2), and flat washers (3) securing one side of the windshield support bracket. Save all hardware for reinstallation. NOTE On Rigid Mount Windshields, be sure the large spacer (4) between the tip of the windshield support bracket and the fork stays in position. On Detachable Windshields, remove the bolts (1) and flat washers (2) securing one side of the windshield support bracket. Save all hardware for reinstallation. 2. Place the wind deflector in position and install the hardware removed in Step 1. Do not tighten the bolt at this time. NOTE On Rigid Mount Windshields, be sure you install the large spacer between the windshield support bracket and the fork. NOTE On 2000 and later models, be sure the wind deflector is outside of the windshield docking points. 3. Position the wind deflector parallel with the fork leg and install the other flat washers, lockwashers and bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time. NOTE If you have a motorcycle equipped with a windshield, but no passing lamps assembly, use the washer (6645) to space the deflector away from the fork leg. 4. Position the wind deflector so it does not touch the bottom of the windshield or the turn signal. The deflector bolt holes are slotted for th is purpose. 5. When the deflector is correctly positioned, tighten the bolts to 17 ft-lbs (23 Nm). 6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the opposite side of the vehicle

REMOVAL To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 1. Remove the main fuse. Refer to the service manual. 2. Remove the existing air cleaner backplate. Refer to the service manual. Save the original equipment (OE) button head screw that secures the air cleaner cover. Discard the remaining parts. 3. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to the service manual. 4. See Figure 1. Remove and discard the induction module support bracket. is05912 Figure 1. Remove Induction Module Support Bracket INSTALLATION Air Cleaner Installation Use only supplied air cleaner cover. Use of another air cleaner cover could cause element failure and detachment of the air cleaner cover, which could distract the rider and result in death or serious injury. (00596b) NOTE When servicing the air cleaner, apply Loctite 243 – Blue to the threads of all fasteners. 1. See Figure 3. Install two O-rings (1) from the kit in the grooves around the breather bolt holes on the induction module side of the backplate assembly (2). Install the remaining two O-rings in the grooves in the underside of the heads of the breather bolts (5). 2. Remove the liner from the adhesive backing of the gasket (3). Carefully position the adhesive side of the gasket to the backplate, aligning to the equally spaced screw holes, and press the gasket firmly into place. 3. Insert new breather bolts (5) through the backplate. 4. Apply Loctite 243 – Blue to the breather bolt threads and the mating tapped holes in the cylinder head. 5. Thread the bolts into the cylinder head, but do not tighten. 6. Thread the air cleaner mounting studs (4) all the way through the backplate (2) until the screw threads are captured in the induction module. Do not tighten completely at this time. 7. Alternately tighten the two breather bolts to 120-144 in- lbs (13.6-16.3 Nm) . 8. Tighten the three air cleaner studs to 55-60 in-lbs (6.2- 6.8 Nm) . 9. Install the fuel tank. Installation Notes • Remove front fender, wheel, brake caliper, and fork tubes. • Remove all components attached to stock triple clamps, then the triple clamps themselves. • Remove upper and lower bearings including race. • Install new steering stem bearing races into neck. • Install new upper steering stem bearing with seal into neck. • Install Top and Bottom triple clamps into neck and snug steering stem bolt with washer. • Remove fork tube cap from both forks. • Install fork extensions with o-ring into fork tubes and tighten until fully seated. • Install fork tube caps with o-rings and tighten (see torque table). • Slide fork tubes into triple clamps until the top of each tube cap extends 0.42-0.50 in. above top surface of upper triple clamp. • Tighten 3/8-16 x 1.5″ bolts on upper triple clamp (see torque table). • Tighten steering stem bolt (see torque table). • Tighten pinch bolts on lower triple clamp (see torque table). • Install front wheel assembly and front brake caliper. • Install front fender. Mount the shock as you would your stock shock per your authorized shop manual (with the rebound adjustment at the bottom) noting the following: n On the left side of the motorcycle, remove the secondary drive cover, rectifier cover, and rectifier. Also remove the Remote Adjustable Pre-Load adjuster knob by removing the screw located in the center of the knob, then pull it straight off. n As you mount the shock, feed the Remote Adjustable Pre-Load adjuster (knob removed) through opening between the frame and the rear of the motor – just behind & below where the shift-shaft comes out – on the left side of the bike (see figure 3 & 4) . Do not loosen or attempt to rotate the line between the shock and the adjuster. n Reinstall the adjuster knob, and torque the screw to 50 in/lbs (5.65 N-m). n Make sure the shock rebound adjustment is towards the rear and facing down and the pressure valve is towards the front facing up. n Tighten shock bolts to the proper torque specifications (refer to your manual). n Mount the adjuster to the supplied mounting bracket using the supplied M6-1.0X8mm SHCS fasteners and torque them to 80-90 in/lbs (9-10 N-m). Then mount the bracket to the bike using the two lower mounting bolt holes for the rectifier bracket as shown in figure 5 – one of which is the lower mounting bolt for the rectifier, which will be replaced with the supplied longer fastener. Reinstall the rectifier, sandwiching the adjuster bracket behind it (see figure 6) . n Using the supplied zip-ties, secure the hydraulic line away from any moving parts or heat sources. n Reinstall the secondary drive cover and rectifier cover (figure 7) , then proceed to adjust your ride height.

1. Place the motorcycle on its centerstand. Remove the stock foot pegs and mounts (four 6mm wrench size allen screws) 2. Beginning on the left or shift side remove the rubber cover from the shift pedal. (Some WD-40 or armor all will make it much easier). Using a hacksaw cut the retaining knob off the end of the shift pedal as shown in photo #1A. Don’t worry should you ever remove the floorboards you can replace the rubber and glue it in place. 3. Install the left floorboard assembly being sure the fork in the toe-heel shifter goes over the shift pedal. Install the two original bolts and snug them. 4. Locate the black plastic shift bushing (see photo #2A) notice the set screw on the side of the bushing slide the bushing onto the shift pedal with the small diameter going on first and engaging the fork on the toe-heel shifter. The shoulder of the bushing should be touching but not putting a side force on the fork. Rotate the bushing so that the set screw is at 9 o’clock tighten the set screw. Locate the rubber cap provided and install it over the end of the stock shift pedal. (See photo #2B). 5. Next rock or pivot the floorboard assembly up and down noting the play between the bolts and bolt holes. Position the floorboard half way between these two extremes then tighten the bolts securely. Check for clearance between the bottom of the toe shifter and the floorboard (min. 1/8″) by pushing the toe shifter down until it stops while rotating the rear wheel (see photo 2C). If there is not sufficient clearance loosen the two mounting screws and pivot the floorboard to obtain the1/8″ clearance and retighten the screws. If installing the heel shifter into one of the two optional forward mounting holes check for the 1/8″ clearance while rotating the rear wheel and up shifting. 6. On the right side remove the 12mm brake pedal mounting bolt, notice the punch mark on the pedal shaft that aligns with the slot in the pedal. The pedal MUST be re-installed in the same position. Pull the pedal outward and off the shaft. 7. See photo (3). On the bottom side of the footpad make a mark ¾” from the rear and outside edge as shown. Drill a ¼” hole thru the pedal at the mark. See photo (4) lay the brake pedal extension upside down on a bench and place the stock pedal into the opening as shown, while holding the two pieces firmly together and using the hole drilled earlier as a guide drill a ¼” hole thru the bottom of the pedal extension. Turn the two pieces over, using a needle nose pliers insert the ¼” bolt provided from the top down thru both pieces, install the lock nut provided and tighten securely. Carefully align the punch mark with the slot on the pedal and re-install the brake pedal (should the shaft slide inward you will need to remove the chrome side cover and hold the shaft outward using your finger as shown in photo (5A). Install the original 12mm bolt and tighten securely

1 .Lay a blanket folded several times over the fuel tank to protect it. 2. Notice on the 1800 models that there is a small punch mark on the handlebars located on the right hand, front side of the handlebars where the risers meet the top clamp/speedometer housing. This is to reference the handlebar position when re-assembling. On the 1300 models there is a punch mark on the forward facing side of the clamp, these must be installed the same way. 3. Loosen the two 19mm nuts holding the risers to the upper triple clamp (steering head). 4. Pry out the four chrome caps covering the handlebar bolts. Remove the four handlebar clamp bolts. (6mm allen wrench). While sitting on the motorcycle, pull the handlebars and upper clamp off of the risers. They may be slightly stuck and require some force to get free. Lay the handlebar and/or upper clamp/gauge assembly carefully on the blanket. 5. Remove the 19mm nuts and the risers from the triple clamp. NOTE: Be careful not to scratch the upper triple clamp when installing the new risers. Place the thin flat washers provided into the recess at the top of the riser bolt holes on the triple clamp. Assemble the lock washers provided and then the original flat washers onto the bolts provided. Install the new risers onto the triple clamp and snug the bolts. 6. Re-install the handlebars and upper clamp/gauge assembly. ( Remember the punch marks) Tighten the front bolts first closing the gap at the front, and then tighten the rear bolts. Tighten the two 19mm riser-mounting bolts securely. Check for adequate clearance and proper routing of cables and hoses.

1. Using the ignition key remove the driver’s seat. Remove the three bolts which secure the passenger seat to the rear fender and remove the passenger seat. 2. Place the lock washers and washers onto the three 6 x 25mm bolts (supplied). Place the solo rack onto the rear fender and align the bolt holes in the fender with the holes in the solo rack. Starting with the two lower holes, place the black plastic spacers (two supplied) between the fender and the solo rack. Next insert two of the bolts with the washers thru the rack and spacers then thread into the fender several turns. At the upper hole place the rubber washer (supplied) between the solo rack and the fender. Insert the remaining bolt with washers thru the solo rack, rubber washer and thread into the fender. Tighten all three bolts securely. 3. Reinstall driver’s seat.

• Fold up the stock passenger boards and remove the 2 allen bolts securing them to the frame on each side. • Remove the new boards from their packaging. Notice the left and right stickers on the back side of the base mounting plates. Pull the spring loaded pins outward and rotate the pin to hold them in the “locked out” position. Rotate the board on the base mount and link arm as needed to gain access to the mounting bolt holes. • Install the boards using the original mounting bolts and tighten securely. Rotate the boards to be level and at the desired height. Rotate the locking pins to align with the lock in slot. Rotate the boards and links slightly until the pins drop into the nearest hole or position. • After adjusting be sure the locking pins are fully engaged into their slot
