Remove the seat. Remove both saddlebags by removing the 3 bolts shown below Remove the plastic liner in the bottom of the trunk by gently pushing in on the center of the plastic clips Once the liner is removed remove the trunk rear light assembly by removing the 4 black screws in side the trunk and 4 on the bottom side of the light assembly. Unplug the light assembly and set it aside. Remove the bolts for the trunk Have a friend hold the trunk up and remove the 4 screws (two on each side) for the side trim Put the bolts back inside the trunk and tighten finger tight to make sure it does not fall. Remove the remaining side trim screws, 5 on each side, and remove the side trim and set it aside Remove 2 bolts from the saddle bag supports. Place the side plate mounting bracket behind the saddlebag supports and replace the two bolts you removed in the previous step. (We recommend using a few drops of Loctite). Do this step for both sides of the bike. Place the side plate behind the mounting bracket and attach the side plates to the mounting brackets with the two bolts supplied with the hitch (We recommend using Loctite on this step) Repeat this step for both sides of the bike

1. Turn Harley Davidson thumb screw control all the way off. 2. Remove screw (A) from the motorcycle throttle housing. Position the mounting bracket, as shown in drawing. Replace throttle housing screw through the hole in the foot of the mounting bracket and into the throttle housing. Loosely tighten screw. 3. Slide the cruise control’s slip ring assembly over the end of the throttle grip up to the switch housing. NOTE: Metal band on slip ring assembly is next to switch housing not set screws. Insert correct size rubber filler between slip ring assembly and grip with “joint” of filler on bottom side, midway between two set screws. Tighten all set screws into rubber filler until tight or flush. 4. Place thumb lever slot over eye bolt. Depress spring to line up holes, and insert socket head screw. 5. Insert thumb lever screw into the hole in the head of mounting bracket that keep screw parallel to grip. Install the washer then the locknut on the thumb lever screw. Tighten locknut until mounting bracket and thumb lever are snug BUT loose enough to let thumb lever move freely up and down. 6. Secularly tighten the throttle housing screw (A) in step 1. 7. Twist throttle back and forth to insure there is no binding, slip ring is “SQUARE” with switch housing and thumb lever operates smoothly between “ON” and “OFF”. 8. CRUISE CONTROL ADJUSTMENTS – Twist throttle to half position and push thumb lever down to “SET” position. Throttle should hold snugly in this position. Flipping thumb lever to “OFF” position, releases cruise control hold, throttle should return to “OFF” position. Tightening acorn nut (B) will increase cruise control hold. Loosening acorn nut will decrease cruise control hold. Always check to make sure that throttle can be rotated both ways in “SET” position after adjustments.

DO NOT REMOVE THE 3 PHILLIP SCREWS ON THE BACK OF THE SPEEDOMETER. This will unscrew the circuit board and the main components inside the speedometer, and possibly damage it. Just leave those 3 screws alone. They won’t make your customization any easier if they are removed. This is the hard part. Turn the speedometer face down on a soft towel on a sturdy table, bench, etc. I used a regular flat screwdriver to do this step. There is a chrome metal ring holding the glass on the speedometer. It is factory sealed. On the bottom side of this ring start prying with a flat screwdriver under the bottom lip of the metal ring. This will be a slow process (patience, patience, patience) so don’t get in a hurry and ruin the wife’s kitchen table like I did. Go around the metal ring with a flat screwdriver prying it up as straight as you can. It’s easier doing this every millimeter or two. I had to do this about 3 times all the way around the ring. After you pry the lip of the ring up all the way around enough to loosen it up considerably, gently pull the ring off of the speedometer. The glass should come off with it. Put the glass with the chrome ring aside for later. You might want to use a soft lint free towel to rest it on

1. Remove the license plate. Remove the license plate mounting bracket from the fender. Remove the two screws from the tail light lens and pull the light outward, unplug the wire connector and set aside. Unplug the turn signal wire connectors from the tail light base and push them out thru the hole in the fender. Looking up underneath the rear fender remove the wires from the clips that secure them to the bottom side of the fender. Cut the wires 2″ from the plugs as shown in photo 1. 2. Unscrew the signal housings from their mounting stems while rotating the wires on the inside of the fender so as not to twist them off while unscrewing the signal from the stem. Remove the signals pushing the wires thru from the inside while pulling the signal outward. Remove the nuts from the backside of the fender that secure the stems and remove the stems. 3. Assemble the license/turn signal bracket, turn signals. Place the smaller reinforcing bracket inside the license plate bracket. Locate the two supplied 5/16″ X 1″ bolts with holes drilled thru the center and the two supplied 5/16″ long spacers. Place the bolts thru the brackets from the inside, threads facing outward followed by the spacers. Thread the wires of the signals thru the bolts and thread the bolts into the signals and snug the bolts. 4. Mounting the LED lights a. Locate the supplied LED tail/brake lights. NOTE: this license plate holder is designed for the new U.S. standardized 7″ wide license plate. If you have an old style wider plate call us at the phone number below and we will send you a separate set of chrome brackets to work with your larger plate at no charge. b. Install the lights as shown in photos 2 & 3. Thread the wires of the LED lights thru the lower holes in the license bracket, peel the adhesive backing and press them firmly in place. Cut the wires off at about 18″ long. c. Install the license plate bracket with signals and LED lights onto the rear fender as shown in photos 2 & 3. Place the two supplied 1/4″ X 1″ flat head screws thru the license plate mounting block. Notice that the thicker half of the mounting block goes toward the top of the fender. d. Next route all the wires from the right turn signal and LED into the slot or notch on the backside of the mounting block followed by the rubber mounting gasket. Install the two nuts from the underside of the fender (Removed from the original license bracket.) onto the two flat head screws and snug them being sure the wires are all in the slot of the mounting block. Run all of the signal and LED wires thru the hole in the fender to the left of the mounting block. e. Install the license plate assembly onto the mounting block using the two supplied 1/4″ X 1/2″ flat head screws. Check the slack from all the wires and again be sure the wires are not pinched between the mounting block and the fender. Tighten all four flat head screws securely. Align the turn signals and tighten their mounting bolts securely.

1. Place a blanket folded several times over the fuel tank to prevent any damage during the installation of the risers. Loosen the two 19mm riser mounting nuts located on the bottom side of the upper steering head. Pry out the chrome plugs from the heads of the four handlebar top clamp bolts using a knife blade. Loosen the four handlebar top clamp 6mm socket head screws. 2. It will help having a second person to hold the handlebars while you change the risers. Remove the four screws from the clamps and then the clamps. Pull the handlebars up off the risers, pull them back and rest them on top of the blanket. 3. Remove the nuts from the bottom of the risers and remove the risers. Insert the two supplied spacer tubes into the riser mounting holes on the upper steering head. Using the bolts, lock washers and washers supplied install the new risers making the bolts finger tight only. (Take care not to scratch the top surface of the upper steering head while installing the new risers.) 4. Place the handlebars back up onto the new risers. Reinstall the top clamps using the four socket head screws removed earlier. Set the height of the handlebars to the desired position, tighten the front bolts first and then the rear securely. (15-18 ft. lbs. There should be no gap between the riser and clamp at the front side.) Tighten the two riser mounting bolts securely. (20-25 ft. lbs.) 5. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left and then right checking for any pulling or binding of the wires, hoses or cables. Also check that the throttle returns freely on it’s own

1. Remove the 8mm bolt from the rear of the passenger seat. Remove the passenger seat by pushing the seat forward and lifting up at the front edge of the seat. Remove the 12mm bolt from the rear of the drivers seat. 2. From the supplied hardware locate the two socket head screws and washers, place the large washers onto the screws with the polished side of the washer facing the head of the screws. Place the small screw and washer thru the small hole in the rear of the solo rack, place the black plastic spacer supplied onto the screw on the bottom side of the solo rack. Holding the rack in place on the rear fender, start the screw in the rear hole. Install the remaining large screw with its washer into the front hole and tighten both screws securely.

Loosen the two 14mm riser mounting nuts located on the bottom side of the upper steering head. Loosen the four handlebar top clamp 6mm socket head screws. 2. It will help having a second person to hold the handlebars while you change the risers. Remove the four screws from the clamps and then remove the clamps. Pull the handlebars up off the risers, pull them back and rest them on top of the blanket. 3. Remove the nuts from the bottom of the risers and remove the risers carefully without allowing the risers to rotate, as this will scratch the clear coating on the upper steering head. Using the bolts, lock washers and washers supplied install the new risers making the bolts finger tight only. (NOTE; again, take care not to allow the risers to rotate as this will scratch the clear coating on the upper steering head). 4. Place the handlebars back up onto the new risers. Install the new top clamps supplied using the four M8 X 30mm socket head screws supplied. Set the height of the handlebars to the desired position, tighten the front bolts first and then the rear securely. (15-18 ft. lbs.) (There should be no gap between the riser and clamp at the front side) Tighten the two riser mounting bolts securely. (20-25 ft. lbs.). 5. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left and then right checking for any pulling or binding of the wires, hoses or cables. YOU MUST! Check to see that the throttle returns freely on its own when the handlebars are at full left and full right turn THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS! If you have a windshield installed it may be necessary to reroute the throttle cables, wires or hoses around the other side of the windshields mounting hardware to obtain adequate free play and free throttle return. You may also wish to remove the plastic clips or cable tie which secure the wiring to the handlebars and secure them to the brake hose and clutch cable (not the throttle cables) for a cleaner appearance

1. Place a blanket folded several times over the fuel tank to help prevent any damage during the installation of the risers. Using a small screwdriver pry out the plastic caps covering the handlebar clamp bolts. 2. Reroute the clutch cable behind the steering head as follows. Remove the clutch cable from the lever and perch. To do this first loosen the cable adjuster lock nut and then the adjuster as far as possible to give its maximum free play. Align their slots with the slot in the perch so that the cable may slide out. Standing in front of the handlebars grasp the clutch cable firmly trying to pull it out of the adjuster with one hand while pulling in the lever with the other hand. Now release the lever rapidly. Repeat several times if needed while keeping outward tension on the cable until the cable is out of the adjuster then slide it out thru the slots and remove the cable end from the lever. Reroute the clutch cable behind the steering head this will allow the additional slack needed when moving the handlebars back with the new risers (see photo). Replace the cable into the perch in the same manner. 3. It will help having a second person to hold the handlebars while you change the risers. Remove the four Allen bolts from the clamps and then remove the clamps. Pull the handlebars up off the risers, pull them back and rest them on top of the blanket. 4. Remove the Allen bolts from the center of the risers while holding the 14mm nut on the bottom side of the steering head with a wrench. Remove the risers leaving the large washer on the top side of the steering head in place. Using the bolts and lock washers supplied and the original heavy or thick washer install the new risers making the bolts finger tight only. 5. Place the handlebars back up onto the new risers. Install the new top clamps supplied using the four Allen bolts remover earlier. Set the height of the handlebars to the desired position, tighten the front bolts first and then the rear securely. (15-18 ft. lbs.) (There should be no gap between the riser and clamp at the front side) Tighten the two riser mounting bolts securely. (20-25 ft. lbs.). Replace the plastic bolt caps.

Using a æ” socket loosen the two riser mounting bolts located on the bottom side of the upper steering head. Using a º” hex key wrench loosen the four handlebar top clamp bolts. 2. It will help having a second person to hold the handlebars while you change the risers. Remove the four bolts from the top clamp and then remove the clamp. Pull the handlebars up off the risers, pull them back and rest them on top of the blanket. 3. Remove the bolt from the bottom of one of the risers and remove the riser while keeping the bolt in place. Place one of the supplied Ω” washers onto the protruding bolt, and then the new riser (Note; There are LEFT & RIGHT risers.) and mount the bolt finger tight. (Take care not to scratch the top surface of the upper steering head while installing the new risers.) 4. Place the handlebars back up onto the new risers. Install the top clamp using the supplied four black 5/16-18 X 1 º” bolts. Set the height of the handlebars to the desired position; tighten the clamp bolts evenly making sure the gap between the clamps & risers are the same. (15-18 ft. lbs.) Tighten the two riser mounting bolts securely. (20-25 ft. lbs.). 5. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left and then right checking for any pulling or binding of the wires, hoses or cables. Also check that the throttle returns freely on its own

1. Remove the front turn signals as follows. The turn signal wire plugs are located inside the handlebar switch housings. Remove the two Phillips screws located on the forward facing side of the switch housing, remove the covers, unplug the turn signals and reassemble the switch housings. Unbolt the signals from their black mounting brackets, remove the brackets from the bottom side of the switch housings, reinstall the nuts and tighten securely. 2. Disassemble the two halves of the turn signal mounting clamps supplied, place the M6 X 25mm button head screws thru the hole in the side of the clamp from the inside, place the spacers supplied over the screw threads. Screw the clamps and spacers onto the turn signals. Hold the signal/clamp assemblies up to the front fork, position the signals so that the housing/lens seam is vertical and straight, carefully remove the assemblies from the forks and tighten the screws securely. Install the signal/clamps onto the forks, set to the desired height and angle and tighten the clamp screws securely. 3. Using a sharp knife slit the black wire loom from the turn signal plug back 7″. Pull the turn signal wires and plugs out from the loom. Fold the wires along the loom going down towards the headlight. Leave 2-3″ of the wire next to the plug exposed and neatly tape the rest of the wire to the loom and the loom closed back up to the handlebar switch. 4. Connect the signal wires to the plugs from the wire loom. Using the cable ties supplied tie up any loose or unconcealed wire and the plugs.
