1. The Stage IV controller can be mounted in numerous places. Placement depends on personal preferences. Only mount in locations where no damage may occur from sharp or hot objects. 4. Start the UTV and in approximately four seconds the lights on the Stage IV controller will be visible. With a proper install, you should see lights going from side to side on the controller. This will last approximately eight seconds and then will stop. After lights have stopped going side to side, you will notice a great light on the left side of the controller. When you rev the motor, lights will increase across the controller and even change colors. 5. Double check all fasteners and connections. 7. The Stage IV controller has been programmed for ultimate performance when using Trinity Racing’s Stage IV exhaust system and Powerflow intake system on an otherwise stock engine. Different products, modifications, or other conditions may require additional adjustments. Please refer to Basic Tuning Adjustments and all final fuel adjustments are the customer’s responsibility. 8. You are now ready to ride! Enjoy your new Stage IV fuel management controller! Basic Tuning Adjustments 1. The following instructions are for basic fuel tuning. Modes 1,2, & 3 are allowing adjustments to increase and decrease the amount of fuel the engine needs. Modes 4 & 5 are for advanced tuning only. DO NOT change modes 4 & 5 when doing basic tuning! 2. To help understand how these modes work, you can think of them as if you were working with a carburetor. 3. Remember each time you push the MODE button you will be advancing to the next mode. Push the MODE button once and you are now in mode 1, push the MODE button again and you are now in mode 2 and so on. You only need to be concerned with modes 1, 2 & 3 for basic tuning. Modes 4 & 5 are for advanced tuning ONLY. 4. If you need to go back to the settings that were pre programmed when you purchased the controller, just look at the picture in each mode, the colored square represents where the settings were when you purchased the controller. 5. Looking at the controller you will see eight lights with numbers under them, this is what you need to look at when changing settings. The #1 light on the controller represents the leanest setting

Hot start lever (250 SX-F) If you pull the red hot start lever [1] during the starting procedure backward, a bore in the carburetor will be opened through which the engine may take in additional air. The result is a „lean” fuel-air mixture of the type needed for hot starts.

Flasher switch The flasher switch is a separate unit and is mounted on the left portion of the handlebar. The wire harness is designed in a way that whenever you want to use your bike off-road, you can dismount the entire turn indicator system without affecting the function of the remaining electrical system. Flasher left Flasher right Starter button (EXC) Pushing the black starter button [2] will actuate the E-starter. Emergency OFF switch (EXC Australia) The red emergency-OFF switch [3] is arranged adjacent to the throttle grip. In this position, the E-starter is operational and the engine can be started. In this position, the E-starter and ignition circuits are interrupted.The E-starter cannot be actuated, and the engine will not start, not even if you attempt to start it with the kickstarter. Pushing the black starter button [4] will actuate the E-starter. 2 3 4 5 6 Indicator lamps The green control lamp [5] flashes in the same rhythm as the flashing indicator when the indicator is working. The blue control lamp [6] lights up when the high beam is on

SERIAL NUMBER LOCATIONS » OPERATION INSTRUMENTS » Chassis number The chassis number is stamped on the right side of the steering head tube. Enter this number in the field on page no 1. Engine number The engine number is stamped into the engine housing underneath the carburetor. Enter this number in the field on page no 1. Clutch lever The clutch lever [1] is located on the left side of the handlebar. The adjusting screw [A] is used to change the original position of the clutch lever (see maintenance work on chassis and engine). The clutch is hydraulically actuated and adjusts itself automatically. Hand brake lever The hand brake lever [2] is mounted on the handle bars on the right and actuates the front wheel brake. The adjusting screw [B] can be used to change the basic position of the hand brake lever (see maintenance work on chassis and engine). 1 A 2 B
ENGLISH 7 OPERATION INSTRUMENTS » Short circuit button The short circuit button [1] turns off the engine. When pressing this button, the ignition circuit is short-circuited. Filler cap To open it: turn filler cap counter-clockwise. To close it: put filler cap back on and tighten it by turning it clockwise. Install tank breather hose [2] without kinks. Fuel tap The fuel tap [3] is located on the left side of the tank. Opening the fuel tap: Turn the knob all the way to the left. Closing the fuel tap: Turn the knob all the way to the right. Choke The choke button [4] is located on the left side of the carburetor. Pulling the choke button all the way out opens a bore in the carburetor through which the engine can take in additional fuel, thus achieving the „rich” fuel air mixture needed for cold starting. Pushing the choke button back in closes the bore in the carburetor. Shift lever The shift lever is mounted on the left side of the engine. The position of the gears is shown in the illustration. Neutral, or the idle speed, is located between first and second gear

The majority of HSR42/45 installations use the Harley cable. Installation is simple when the installation instructions are followed, step by step. Those steps are: • Remove the stock Harley choke cable assembly. • Remove the spring and plunger from the stock cable. • Remove the Mikuni “Starter Nut” from the HSR. • Remove the Mikuni spring and plunger from the HSR. • Install the Mikuni spring and plunger on the Harley choke cable. • Install the Harley choke cable with the fitted Mikuni spring and plunger into the HSR carburetor. • DO NOT use the Mikuni Starter Nut; discard it. • DO NOT use the Harley spring or plunger; discard them. Note: If you do not have installation instructions, you may download them from the www.mikuni.com website in the “manuals” section. If the Mikuni Starter Nut is fitted to the Harley cable, the choke plunger is held off its seat and the choke is open all the time. If the Harley spring and plunger are used, the plunger does not seal and the choke is open all the time. The result, in both cases, is very poor fuel mileage (30 mpg or less). Another possible cause of poor mileage, rough idle and fouled spark plugs is incorrect cable routing. The stock Harley choke cable is very stiff and may not be fully seated in the metal elbow at the carburetor end of its run. This condition is easily corrected. On occasion, one of these errors may have been made by someone else at another location. The unfortunate mechanic who inherits the task of correcting the rich condition, poor idle and poor fuel mileage may have no clue as to the mismatch of parts. For this reason, we include the photos and text to help you discover if your installation is correct.

Remove the vacuum slide from the carburetor. • Remove the OEM needle and spacer, noting the order of assembly. • Counting from the top to the bottom, install the new Baron needle clip on groove #4 of the replacement Baron adjustable needle. • Reinstall the OEM spacer and washer. • Reinstall the vacuum slide along with the diaphragm spring. • Reattach the diaphragm cover and tighten its screws. Note: Verify that the slide maintains a full range of movement! • Drain the fuel from float bowl and remove the bowl cover. • Remove the new cap head Allen screws in place of the OEM Phillips head screws. • Repeat above steps for other OEM main jet and pilot jet, and replace them with Baron’s main and pilot jets. • Thoroughly clean the inside of the float bowl prior to reinstalling it. • Reassemble the carburetor by reversing the order of previous steps. Use thecarburetor. • Locate the fuel mixture plug on each carburetor; it will either be a screw head or a brass plug. If it is a screw head, skip to step c . If you see a brass plug with a small hole in the center, proceed as follows: a. With a 5/32″ drill bit, carefully and slowly drill through the fuel mixture plug for each carburetor. CAUTION: The fuel mixture screw is located directly beneath this plug. Be prepared to stop the drill and remove the bit the instant you break through the plug. b. Break-in of this camshaft is important and you should adhere to all of the following instructions. It is also very important to use plenty of engine assembly lubricant, recommended is Coastal Engine Assembly Lube or Clevite 77, both are available from most automotive supply companies. We recommend you change the engine oil before the initial start-up of the engine after the assembly. Then change the oil again after the break-in of the cams to remove the excess
phosphate from the coated cams. These steps will help ensure that the camshaft breaks-in properly and that you have a long lasting product. Using full synthetic engine oil during break-in is not recommended but, is OK to use after the one-hour break-in period is over. Following a regular maintenance schedule is the best way to ensure durability and performance over the long run. Cleanliness is always a good place to start. Make sure the motorcycle is cleaned thoroughly before you start. It would be advisable to use an engine degreaser on the frame and the engine. Remove the fuel tank and thoroughly clean the inside of the frame rails, around the carburetor, and behind the radiators. Be sure to remove the ignition coil assembly and using high-pressure air, clean the spark plug hole out before the plug is removed. This will ensure a clean engine during the assembly process and less of a chance of thread damage and/or dirt contamination in the engine during reassembly

FUEL Fuel tank capacity: 2.0 US gal (7.4 liter, 1.6 lmp gal) To open the fuel fill cap, pull the breather tube out of thesteering stem nut. Then turn the fuel fill cap ounterclockwise. • Use automobile gasoline with a pump octane number of 92 or higher. If “knocking” or “pinging” oc- curs, try a different brand of gasoline or a higher octane grade. • Gasoline is extremely flammable and is explosive under certain conditions. Perform this operation in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped. Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where gasoline is drained or stored and where the fuel tank is refueled. 1.OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING BASIC OPERATION Starting The Engine • Never run the engine in an enclosed area. The exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas thatcan cause loss of consciousness and lead to death. • Attempting to start the engine with the transmis- sion in gear and clutch engaged may result in in- jury or damage. NOTE: • This motorcycle can be kickstarted with the transmission in gear by disengaging the clutch before operating the kickstarter. Check the engine oil, transmission oil and coolant levels before starting the engine (page 21, 23, 24). Cold Engine Starting: 1. Turn the fuel valve ON. 2. Shift the transmission into neutral. 3. If the temperature is 35°C (95°F) or below, pull the choke knob fully out. 4. If the temperature is below 0°C (32°F), open the throttle two or three times. (The engine requires a richer mixture for starting in cold weather. When the throttle is so opened, the accelerator pump will feed extra fuel to the cylinder, thereby facilitating starting in cold weather.) 5. With the throttle closed, operate the kickstarter starting from the top of the kickstarter stroke, kick through to the bottom with a rapid, continuous motion. (Do not open the throttle, As the carburetor is equipped with an accelerator pump, excessive fuel will be charged into the engine, and the spark plug will be fouled if the throttle is opened and closed repeatedly. Excessive fuel in the engine makes kick starting difficult.) 6. About a minute after the engine starts, push the choke knob back all the way to fully OFF. If idling is unstable, open the throttle slightly. (1) FUEL FILL CAP (2) BREATHER TUBE WARNING (1) FUEL VALVE (2) CHOKE KNOB Warm Engine Starting: 1. Turn the fuel valve ON. 2. Shift the transmission into neutral. 3. Pull the hot start lever and kick-start the engine. (Do not open the throttle.) 4. As soon as the engine starts, release the hot start lever.

First pry off the plastic clip covering the screw as in the first picture. Note the type of screw used, as shown in the third picture. You must put this one back in the right place. Tip; When refitting this clip later on, a bit of Blutack or similar will stop it falling off and getting lost. Pull the L piece trim away, taking care not to break the tab shown in the fifth picture Now pry off the small black plastic cover at the rear of the running light. Blutack will be a good idea here as well when refitting the cover. The owner of this GL1500 didn’t use it and the cover on each side of the Goldwing got lost, which is why you can’t see them in the pictures. Note the type of screw used here as well, same as the one mentioned earlier. The third picture shows the two normal Phillips screws at the front of the running light, remove them. Remove the running light and pull the lower fairing panel away Remove the rubber plug from the right side fan. The adjuster screw for balancing the carbs is about 6″ behind and up, and hard to see. I removed the fan so I could get the camera in and the second picture shows the adjuster screw

Advance tuning has two modes in which to adjust. They are called mode 4 and mode 5. In basic tuning, you are changing the amount of fuel that the engine receives, but with advance tuning, you will be changing when the fuel will be available. In each mode you can adjust how soon the fuel delivery occurs. 2. Mode 4 yellow light and blue light represent when the fuel delivery is available during partial throttle acceleration. To adjust this setting, push the MODE button four times and then push the plus or minus buttons to adjust fuel as needed. Only the yellow light will be changing.
