1. Remove the crate cover and check for damage. The CBR1000RR Repsol Edition is crated at the factory in either a covered or uncovered crate. You may receive either one. Polypropylene covered crate: Cut the strap, open the  fastener, and remove the polypropylene cover. Carton covered crate: Cut the strap and remove the carton cover. Remove the cardboard top. Uncovered crate: When stacking, protect the motorcycle from falling objects and bad weather. Check the unit for damage. If damage is found, follow the instructions on the Delivery and Damage Claims Guidelines wall chart (Reorder No. S0477) before proceeding further. 2. Remove the parts carton. Cut the strap and remove the parts carton from the crate base. Keep the You and Your Motorcycle – Riding Tips & Practice Guide booklet separate and hand deliver to the customer at the time of delivery 4. Remove the shipping bracket nuts and plate. Remove the nuts and plate that attach the front shipping bracket to the upper shipping brace. 5. Remove the rear  shipping brackets. While supporting the rear shipping brackets, remove and discard the nuts, bolts, and rear shipping brackets on both sides of the motorcycle. Install and torque the 8 x 22 mm socket bolts to secure the passenger footpeg brackets. Torque: 37 N·m (3.8 kgf·m, 27 lbf·ft) 6. Lift off the crate frame. Remove the bolts that attach the crate frame. Using two people, carefully lift off the crate frame. Use extreme care not to damage the motorcycle while  removing the crate frame. 7. Remove the front shipping bracket. Being careful not to damage the upper cowl, remove the bolts and front shipping bracket. Install the top triple clamp caps. Remove the carton cover. The ST1300/A is crated in one of two ways. You may receive either one. Covered crate: Cut the strap and remove the carton cover. Remove the inner cardboard frame cover. Uncovered crate: When stacking crates, protect the motorcycle from falling objects and bad weather. 2. Check for damage. Check the unit for hidden damage. If you find damage, follow the instructions on the Delivery and Damage Claims Guidelines wall chart (Reorder No. S0477) before proceeding. 3. Remove the side braces, wheel, loose parts cartons, and crate frame. Remove the ties securing the front wheel and loose parts cartons. 3. Remove the side braces, wheel, loose parts cartons, and crate frame (cont.). Remove the bolts and side braces, being careful not to damage the front wheel. Remove the loose parts cartons. Keep the You and Your Motorcycle Riding Tips & Practice Guide and hand deliver to the customer at the time of delivery. Remove the nuts, plate, and bolts. Using two people, carefully remove the crate frame, being careful not to damage the motorcycle Remove the motorcycle from the crate base. Install lifting slings on the engine guards and grab rails as shown. If necessary, use a spreader board to prevent the slings from damaging the motorcycle. Lift the slings just enough to remove the slack. Loosen the caliper bolts, axle bolt, and axle pinch bolts. Remove the washer bolts, and lower shipping bracket from the crate base. Discard the washer bolts

HEADLAMP VISOR INSTALLATION (2004 ONLY) 1 2 is 01467 1. Headlamp 2. Headlamp bracket mounting screws Figure 1. Remove Headlamp Mounting Screws (Left Side Shown) 1. See Figure 1. While holding the headlamp (1), remove the left and right headlamp bracket mounting screws (2). 2. See Figure 5. Obtain the headlamp visor (2) from the kit. 3. See Figure 2. Orient the headlamp visor (1) between the headlamp and headlamp mounting bracket (2) and reinstall the headlamp bracket mounting screws (3) securing the visor and headlamp to the headlamp mounting bracket. 4. Fork Tube Clamp and Post Identification (Right-Side Clamp Shown) WINDSHIELD INSTALLATION 1. See Figure 5. Obtain one of the lower mount kits from the windshield kit carton. Identify the fork tube clamp for right- side (RT) or left-side (LFT) installation as indicated in Figure 3. NOTE The lower grommets (4) have been pre-installed into the Lexan® windshield. 2. Insert the rounded end of the post into the socket in the fork-tube clamp, oriented as shown in Figure 5. Lining up the hole in the end of the post with the hole in the clamp. With a 3 mm hex key, fasten the post to the clamp with the flat-head screw (16) from the kit, and tighten to 6.8 Nm (60 in-lbs ). 3. Place the clamp around the correct-side fork tube with the hinge-pin head facing up. Insert the two longer screws (15) from the lower mount kit through the counterbored holes in the outboard side of the clamp, and thread the screws part-way into the tapped holes in the inboard half. 4. Position the clamp so the top surface is approximately 6 to 13 mm (1/4 to 1/2 inch) below the upper triple-tree, and the hinge pin is straight forward. With a 4 mm hex key, tighten the screws just enough to hold the clamp in posi- tion. 5. Obtain the remaining lower mount kit and repeat Steps 2 through 4 to install the clamp to the opposite fork tube. 6. Obtain the upper mount kit from the windshield kit carton. NOTE The upper grommets (4), socket assemblies (3), windshield mount caps (6) and 5 mm screws (9) have been pre-installed into the windshield. 7. Place one of the handlebar clamps (5) onto one side of the handlebar, in the straight section between the riser and the handlebar controls, oriented as shown in Figure 4. NOTE Temporarily disengage the switch harness retainer from the handlebar to allow installation of the clamp.
