A. Install the two brake pads with the anti-squeal shims to the brake caliper. B. Install the two (2) guide pins to fix the brake pads. 2. Install spring No. 1. A. Hook the spring upper portion to guide pin No. 1. Spring No. 1 B. Hook the spring lower portion to the center hole of the brake pad. 3. Install spring No. 2. A. Hook the spring upper portion to guide pin No. 1 Secure the guide pins with the retaining clip. A. Insert the retaining clip end into the hole of guide pin No. 1. B. Insert the other clip end into the hole of guide pin No. 2. NOTE: The retaining clip should be fully inserted into guide pin No. 1 and No. 2. If NOT, the guide pins will come off and the brake caliper will be damaged

Disconnect negative battery cable. On 2.2L (5S-FE) models,
remove battery and cruise control actuator. On all models, remove air
cleaner case with air intake hose. Remove clutch release cylinder with
hose attached and secure aside.
2) Remove starter. Disconnect necessary ground straps,
electrical connections and control cables from transaxle. Remove upper
transaxle mounting bolts from cylinder block.
3) Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove
lower engine covers. Drain transaxle fluid. Remove axle shafts from
transaxle. See AXLE SHAFTS article in AXLE SHAFTS & TRANSFER CASES

Use a 13mm and 10mm socket or wrench to loosen and remove the bolts holding the brake lines to the strut. Retain the hardware for later re-installation. 4) Use a 21mm and 22mm socket or wrench to loosen and remove the two bolts holding the base of the strut to the spindle. Use a 12mm socket or wrench to loosen and remove the nuts retaining the top of the strut. The strut will now be free and can drop out of the vehicle. Use caution to avoid dropping the strut, as this could damage the strut or the vehicle. 5) Place one of the struts into the coil spring compressor and collapse the spring until the upper strut plate is no longer under tension. Remove the plastic dust cover on the top of the strut. Use a 19mm socket and a 6mm Allen wrench to remove the retaining nut at the top of the strut. Retain the hardware for later Re-installatio
