Removing The Stock Components Although the PM Drive Side Brake System can be installed with the swing arm bolted to the frame, we recommend removing it for better access as well as repainting. Begin by removing rear wheel, stock brake components and belt guard from swing arm. Photo #1 Using supplied 3/4 x 2″bolt,position Drive Side BrakeAssembly on swing arm. Slide assembly to center position of tab and axle spans. Making sure brake mounting tabs are flush with swing arm, snug 3/4 x 2″ bolt to hold assembly and mark swing arm area to be ground Photo #2 . Remove entire assembly from swing arm and thoroughly grind paint away from marked areas Photo #3 . Photo #4 Re-mount assembly to swing arm and slide to rear-most position of both axle and brake mounting tabs. Confirm that brake tabs are flush with swing arm and parallel to each other. Snug 3/4 x 2″bolt and 5/16″socket head cap screws in tabs to hold assembly during welding process. Warning Center the motorcycle on the lift so that it will not fall while you are working on it. Photo #6 Photo #5 Photo #7 Photo #9 Welding Tabs to Swing Arm Note PM recommends all welding be done by a certified welder. Photo #5 Tack weld rear of tabs to swing arm. Avoid excessive welding near brake as- sembly as heat can mar finish. Loosen socket head cap screws and 3/4″bolt,Slide entire assembly to forward most position and re tighten bolts Photo #6 (movement should require minimal effort if tabs are aligned properly) and tack front of tabs to swing arm. Remove brake assembly from swing arm. Weld tabs to swing arm.Verify alignment of tabs, as they must remain parallel to each other. Repaint swing arm and re-install on bike to factory torque specs. Installing Brake Assembly Remove primary bracket from tower assembly (this allows bracket to be installed without having to line up caliper on disc) by removing the three 5/16″socket head cap screws (commonly called allen bolts). Photo #7 Mount rear tire and bolt pulley to rear wheel. Place disassembled bracket against pulley using smaller of two supplied spacers between bracket and pulley. Slide wheel/brake assembly into swing arm. Place large spacer on right side and slide axle in. Do not tighten axle at this point . INSTALLATION Template Positioning (Rack Installation WITH SPOILER only) The location of the luggage rack has a direct relationship to the location of the Tour-PakĀ® Spoiler. The template (7) included in this kit will locate the luggage rack in the correct position for the current or future installation of a Tour-Pak Spoiler. NOTE A template is not required if installing rack without spoiler. 1. If a spoiler is already installed, or if the installation of a Tour-Pak-mounted spoiler may be desired in the future, cut the template along the appropriate line. 2. Carefully place the trimmed template on top of the Tour- Pak, aligning the edges of the template with the top surface of the Tour-Pak lid. Tape the template to the lid in the desired location. The template will help to properly locate the rack so that a spoiler may be added in the future. Rack Installation on Tour-Pak 1. ALL installations: Open the lid, and remove all loose contents from the Tour-Pak. 2. See Figure 1. Slip the mounting pads (2) onto each of the mounting bosses (B) of the luggage rack (1). NOTES Kit 53665-87: Position rack with wide upright toward rear of vehicle. Kit 91793-85: Position rack with upright toward rear of vehicle. Carefully center the rack from left to right, and position the rack squarely on the lid for best appearance. Do not mount the rack too far forward to avoid contact with the backrest pad. 3. Position the rack on the Tour-Pak lid in the desired loca- tion. 4. Carefully raise the rack, and place masking tape (A) on the Tour-Pak lid where the four mounting bosses contact the cover. 5. Lower the rack onto the tape in the location chosen in Step 3. Using a soft lead pencil on the masking tape strips, trace a circle around each mounting boss. Remove the rack, and use a ruler to mark the exact center position of each mounting boss on the tape. 6. Drill four 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) diameter pilot holes through the masking tape and Tour-Pak lid at each mounting boss center position. Use a 9/32 inch (7 mm) diameter bit to drill the finish holes. 7. Remove the masking tape

1. Center the top support channel on the inside top of the bag lid so that it is centered. Leave a gap so that the lid will close completely when overlapping the bag body. 2. Prior to drilling any holes, check that the support bar is positioned so that it will fit inside the bag when closed. Align the support bar and drill only the eight (8) holes shown in black to mount the top support rail. Mount the rail using the blind button cover screws with the closed end to the outside of the bag. Use a drop of thread lock on each screw. 3. Position the ratchet bar assembly as shown so that the rachet bar is directly over the existing bag emblem and aligned with the existing bag buttons.
