INSTALLATION To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative (-) cable first) before proceeding. (00307a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (-) following the instructions in the owner’s manual. 2. Locate the two-sided template (part number 50002-01) printed on a 11 x 17 inch sheet of poster board. Cut out the template as indicated. 3. If the motorcycle is radio equipped, separate the antenna cable from terminal at antenna base. Remove the nut, lockwasher and ground ring terminal from antenna terminal. Remove phillips head screw threaded into antenna base. Remove mast and antenna base. Detach mast from antenna base by turning counterclockwise with adjustable wrench across flats. 4. See Figure 10. Shield threads of antenna terminal stud with strip of light cardboard. Remove terminal with pliers across cardboard strip. Save terminal and mast for later installation. 5. See Figure 1. Open Tour-Pak top and remove all loose contents. Remove Tour-Pak. Align the template as follows: a. Place center line template (4) along rear top edge of Tour-Pak (1) with curved end against one corner. b. Mark centerline at top edge of Tour-Pak. c. Reverse center line template and mark center with curved end against opposite corner. d. If centerlines overlap, mark center one half the distance between the two lines. e. Place a square against lip at top of Tour-Pak and draw a 3 in (76 mm) line down from the center mark

INSTALLATION 1. Carefully cut out appropriate template from sheet included in kit. One side is for FLSTS style fenders (with elliptical hole for front fender lamp), and the other side is for FLT style fenders (with rectangular front fender lamp). 2. Lay template on front fender (align around front fender lamp). 3. Underneath four holes marked on template, place high quality masking tape on fender. 4. Using a tape measure, measure from the top of the striping on the sides of each side of the fender, to the centerline of the each of the holes on the template (on some FLT models, with chrome fender trim, measure from the chrome fender trim at the bottom edge of the fender). Make sure that the distances are equal so that the template is centered on the fender. 5. Tape the template to the fender using high quality masking tape. NOTE Before proceeding, stand directly in front of the fender and carefully check to make sure the template is centered on the fender. 6. Center punch the center point of each of the four holes. 7. Remove the template from the fender. 8. Block motorcycle under frame so the front wheel is raised off the ground. 9. Follow appropriate Service Manual procedures and remove the front axle. 10. Place a rag on the top of the front brake caliper, then lower the front wheel so that it is resting on top of the brake caliper. NOTE When drilling fender holes, use care not to hit tire with drill bit. 11. While holding the fender firmly, and using caution to make sure that your drill bit does not hit the tire, drill the four holes at the points marked by the center punch. Begin with a 1/8 inch drill bit, followed by a 9/32 inch, and finally a 3/8 inch drill bit. 12. Remove the masking tape and any burrs that may have formed. 13. Remove the adhesive backing from each of the foam pads on the bottom of each of the stanchions. 14. Place the studs from each of the end stanchions into the holes (you may need to rotate the rails 180 degrees if they appear to be bowed out). 15. Reaching from the front of the fender, place kit washer, and then a locknut, over each of the studs on the underside of the fender. 16. Securely tighten each locknut so that the stanchion is firmly clamped to the fender. 17. Follow appropriate Service Manual procedures and replace the front wheel and axle

INSTALLATION 1. Refer to the Owner’s Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat. Retain all seat mounting hard- ware. Stop the engine when refueling or servicing the fuel system. Do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks near gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00002a) 2. See the Figure 5. Remove the original fuel filler cap (A) from the tank and set it aside. Obtain a small diameter Harley-Davidson fuel filler cap (B) and screw it into the fuel filler opening. For Model XL883C, or other models equipped with Genuine Motor Parts Large Capacity Fuel Tank 3. To ensure surface cleanliness, clean the top of the fuel tank with a mixture of 50 to 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30 to 50% distilled water. Allow to dry thoroughly. 4. Measure and mark the centerline of the fuel tank, with a wax pencil or water-based marker, at the rear of the tank as shown in Figure 3. Proceed to Step 10. For Model XL1200C 2 1 is 01910 1. Original fuel tank trim panel liner 2. Fishing line (or string) Figure 1. Removing the Existing Trim Panel (XL 1200C) 5. See Figure 1. Insert the fishing line (2) between the rear of the fuel tank and the liner (1) on the underside of the original trim panel. NOTE Raise the ends of the fishing line away from the fuel tank to avoid scuffing the tank finish 6. Using a side-to-side “sawing” motion, work the fishing line toward the front of the fuel tank to break the adhesive bond between the trim panel and the tank. 7. Carefully pull the trim panel and liner off of the tank and discard it. NOTE Be careful not to scratch the paint on the fuel tank when removing the adhesive

Drilling Instructions for Antenna Base Mounting and Cable Routing 1. See Figure 1. Measure and determine the center of the outside rear Tour-Pak wall. 2. Lay a strip of 2 inch wide masking tape from top to bottom over the approximate center. 3. Very carefully measure again and mark the center near the top of the tape strip. Measure and mark the center near the bottom of the strip. 4. Draw a line from the top mark to the bottom mark. 5. Facing the centerline you have drawn, measure 9-1/4 inches from the center line to the left side. 6. At the 9-1/4 inch dimension, lay a vertical strip of 2 inch masking tape from the top to approximately the middle of the Tour-Pak wall. 7. Very carefully measure again and mark 9-1/4 inches from the top of center line to the top of the tape strip. Measure and mark 9-1/4 inches from the bottom of the center line to the bottom of the strip. 8. Draw a vertical line from the top mark to the bottom mark. 9. Measure 1-1/4 inches from the top edge, down the vertical line you have drawn and draw a short horizontal line across the vertical line. 10. Measure 1-1/2 inches down the vertical line you have drawn from your FIRST short horizontal line and draw another short horizontal line across the vertical line

2. Installation iii) Adhere high density foam gasket to top portion of hood using marker line as centerline guide to ensure windshield panel will sit squarely onto foam after installation. If desired, install small edge trim to side edges of windshield panel and cut to suit. (Steps not shown) iv) Re-install windshield panel onto vehicle. Fasten panel with (6) #10-32 x 3/4″ Lg. screws and nyloc nuts (Fig.4) ensuring windshield panel sits firmly onto foam strip. v) Install and position roof panel onto vehicle allowing for equal spacing on either side of widshield panel edges. Once centered, carefully transfer upper windshield panel holes onto roof panel using a ¼” drill bit. (Fig. 5) NOTE: To prevent excessive rattling noise during operation, install foam strips between roof and rollcage contact points at this time. vi) Fasten roof panel to windshield panel using (6) ¼-20 x 5/8″ screws, washers and nyloc nuts (Fig.6).
