INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS Main switch/Steering lock The main switch controls the ignition and lighting systems. Its operation is described below. EAU00036 ON Electrical circuits are switched on. The engine can be started. The key cannot be removed in this position. EAU00038 OFF All electrical circuits are switched off. The key can be removed in this position. EAU00040 LOCK The steering is locked in this position and all electrical circuits are switched off. The key can be removed in this posi- tion. To lock the steering, turn the handlebars all the way to the left. While pushing the key into the main switch, turn it from “OFF” to “LOCK” and remove it. To release the lock, turn the key to “OFF” while pushing. EW000016 WARNING Never turn the key to “OFF” or “LOCK” when the motorcycle is moving. The electrical circuits will be switched off which may result in loss of control or an accident. Be sure the motorcycle is stopped before turning the key to “OFF” or “LOCK”. 1. Push 2. Turn EAU00044 (Parking) The steering is locked in this position and the taillight comes on, but all other circuits are off. The key can be removed in this position. The various positions are described below. EAU10540 ON All electrical circuits are supplied with power, and the meter lighting, taillight, license plate light and position lights come on, and the engine can be started. The key cannot be removed. NOTE: The headlight comes on automatically when the engine is started and stays on until the key is turned to “OFF”, even if the engine stalls. EAU10660 OFF All electrical systems are off. The key can be removed. EAU10680 LOCK The steering is locked, and all electrical systems are off. The key can be re- moved. To lock the steering 1. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left. 2. Push the key in from the “OFF” position, and then turn it to “LOCK” while still pushing it. 3. Remove the key.

Rear Reflector Instrument Panel Speedometer Riding speed is indicated by KM/H and MPH. Odometer The total riding distance is in KM and Miles. The black figures in black background indicate total miles traveled. Indicating lamp or turning light It flashes when turning light is in use. Fuel Gauge Fuel Gauge indicates the remaining fuel in the fuel tank (the gauge does not work when main switch is in the “OFF” position). The gauge moves from “F”(full) to “E” (empty) as fuel decreases in the fuel tank. Fill the tank with 90 Octane or higher gasoline when the needle is approaching the “E” position. There is no reserve tank. Indicating Lamp of High beam It indicates high beam is in use. Note: apply low beam to avoid obstructing the view of oncoming drivers and drivers ahead. 1. Speedometer 2. The battery may drain itself empty. – Lock the steering and remove the key after park to avoid theft. “ON” Position: Electric Circuits are switched on. The engine can now be started. The key can not be removed in this position. “OFF” Position: All electrical circuits are switched off. The engine stops. The key can be removed in this position. “LOCK” Position: The steering is locked when in this position. The key can be removed. Steering Lock Turn the handle bar fully to the left to lock the steering to prevent theft. Push the key in when it is in “OFF” position and while pushing the key in, turn the switch to “LOCK” position to lock the steering. Pull the key out once you are done

Battery • This scooter uses a sealed lead acid battery, it is unnecessary to check or add liquid. NOTE: Never open the electrolyte of a sealed battery. Remove the battery from the scooter and store separately in a well ventilated area when the scooter is not in operation for long periods of time Speedometer • Speed is measured in mph. Odometer • The total riding distance is indicated. Fuel gauge • The gauge indicates how much fuel is in the tank (the gauge does not work when the ignition switch is off). The needle moves from full “F” to empty “E” as your fuel decreases. Fill the tank with a good grade of 89-90 octane unleaded gasoline. High Beam Indicator LIght • The high beam light indicates that the high beam headlight is in use. NOTE: Apply the low beam to avoid obstructing the view of other drivers. Turn Signal Indication Light • The turn signals indicate that you are turning a chosen direction, push the button in the desired turning direction, it will return to the center, press the button in to turn off. Please operate it with the following safety instruction. If you fail to take proper precautions, a collision or fall may quickly occur. If the warning light does not come on for a few seconds, then go off, have a Yamaha dealer check the electrical cir- cuit. NOTE: Even if the oil level is sufficient, the warning light may flicker when riding on a slope or during sudden acceleration or deceleration, but this is not a malfunction. This model is also equipped with a self-diagnosis device for the oil level detection circuit. If the oil level detection circuit is defective, the following cycle will be repeated until the malfunction is corrected: The oil level warning light will flash ten times, then go off for 2.5 seconds. If this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle. EAU42740 Fuel level warning light “” This warning light comes on when the fuel level drops below approximately 3.7 L (0.98 US gal) (0.81 Imp.gal). When this occurs, refuel as soon as possible. The electrical circuit of the warning light can be checked by turning the key to “ON”. If the warning light does not come on for a few seconds, and then go off, have a Yamaha dealer check the electrical circuit. NOTE: The vehicle must be on a level surface and positioned upright, otherwise the fuel level warning light may not come on and go off at the appropriate times.
