Hot start lever (250 SX-F) If you pull the red hot start lever [1] during the starting procedure backward, a bore in the carburetor will be opened through which the engine may take in additional air. The result is a „lean” fuel-air mixture of the type needed for hot starts.
ENGLISH 7 OPERATION INSTRUMENTS » Headlamp switch (EXCUSA) In this model the headlamp is switched on with the pull switch [1] . Flasher switch The flasher switch is a separate unit and is mounted on the left portion of the handlebar. The wire harness is designed in a way that whenever you want to use your bike off-road, you can dismount the entire turn indicator system without affecting the function of the remaining electrical system. Flasher left Flasher right Starter button (EXC) Pushing the black starter button [2] will actuate the E-starter. Emergency OFF switch (EXC Australia) The red emergency-OFF switch [3] is arranged adjacent to the throttle grip. In this position, the E-starter is operational and the engine can be started. In this position, the E-starter and ignition circuits are interrupted. The E-starter cannot be actuated, and the engine will not start, not even if you attempt to start it with the kickstarter. Pushing the black starter button [4] will actuate the E-starter. 2 3 4 5 6 Indicator lamps The green control lamp [5] flashes in the same rhythm as the flashing indicator when the indicator is working. at anytime during install or tuning please callus for any and all help, we can’thelpifyoudon’tcall ) 1. Before installing the TFI you must first disconnect the negative lead from the battery. 2. Determinea location for the TFI unit. Suggested locations areas follows: Under the seat, behinda side cover or tail section. 3. The TFIcomeswitha harness with injector connectors that match the factory injector connectors. 4. Locate the factory fuel injectors (see owners manual if you are not sure).** **: Some models are equipped with two sets of injectors (primary and secondary); the unit is designed to interface with the primary injectors. If the TFI harness does not match your injectors do not proceed and call tech support at 877-764-3337. 5. Disconnect the factory injector connectors from the fuel injectors and replace with the TFI injector connectors from the TFI unit, basically unhook the factory injector connector and plug the matching TFI connector (female) to the injector and then connect the factory injector connector to the TFI connector that simulates the injector (male). There is no order to hookup the TFI harness to the factory harness just make sure the original factory connector goes toits’original cylinder. It isa good idea to make sure there is a little slack in the harness to prevent engine vibration from damaging/breakingawireon the connectors. 6. Be sure to check the wires are not indirect contact with any sharp edges, exhaust and/or other objects, which could result in long term wear and/or damage. 7. Connect the TFI ground lead to the negative terminal of the battery along with the factory ground lead. 8. With the rubber plug removed from the TFI, turn the motorcycle key switch to the “ON”position. As the bikes electrical system goes through initial startup mode you may see LED’sflashingonthe TFI.

DC SYSTEMS STEP DC1 – REGULATOR/RECTIFIER: PRE-2005 KTM If the stock regulator looks like below (the stock connector will not plug into the Trail Tech regulator/rectifier) then the provided stub connector must be soldered into the bike’s wire harness. For models without a stock battery, mount the reg/rec and plug the stub connector into it. Run the red and black wires directly to the (aftermarket) battery, and the yellow wires to the stator. SEE DC CIRCUIT DIAGRAM ON REVERSE SIDE OF PAGE. MODELS WITHOUT A STOCK BATTERY Move stock light to the DC circuit: divert lighting wire from AC circuit to DC circuit. In stock form, the lights are powered by the AC half of the electrical system. In order to continue to use the stock light, find the yellow wire (runs to stock headlight) shown below (wire bundles are found underneath gas tank) and cut the smaller gauge yellow wire. 1. Connect aftermarket light: Wire the light’s red(+) light lead to the positive(+) battery terminal, and the black(-) light lead to the negative(-) battery terminal. Trail Tech lights should use a 10-20 amp fuse as close to the positive(+) battery terminal as possible.

1. See Figure 1. Beginning at the front of the tank, position the elastic strap over front edge of fuel tank against frame backbone making sure elastic strap does not pinch off fuel tank vent tube located underneath left side of tank. When properly positioned, strap will run down front of tank and along bottom toward rear of tank. Adjust, if necessary. Pull bra to the rear of tank and fit bra snugly around rear of tank. When performing the following step, route the elastic strap and steel “S’ hook between the main wiring harness and the frame backbone. If the strap is not routed between the main harness and frame backbone, the “S” hook could eventually cut into the main harness wiring causing electrical system failure which could result in death or serious injury. 2. Position the rear elastic strap around the frame backbone making sure the strap and “S” hook, when fastened, pass between the main wiring harness and frame backbone. 3. Smooth out any wrinkles in bra.
