Front and Rear Brake. Check brake action. Check pucks to see that they are not over worn. There should be visible brake material on both sides of the brake disc. See Section 6. Fuel Tank. Check fuel level. Fill as necessary. Use super unleaded for altitudes above 10,000 ft. Engine Oil. The engine holds .6 qt. of SAE10W30/40 motor oil. Fill to the dipstick “full” line. Miter Box and Transmission. They are filled at the factory and need not be checked at the start. The miter box should have 2.5 oz. of EP 80W90 gear lube oil. The transmission takes 6 oz. of EP 80W90 gear lube oil. The transmission has a fill to plug near the bottom of the transmission( shown on page 46). There is no fill level for the miter box. Over filling of either the miter box or transmission will result in leakage. Throttle. Check for proper throttle cable operation. Look for smooth response to twist action. Wheels and Tires. Check Tire pressure, wear and damage. Fittings and Fasteners. Check all fittings and fasteners. Drive Chains. Check chains for tension and lubrication. Adjust tension for 1/2″ – 3/4″ deflection at mid point. Engine Manual. Read your engine manual completely and follow all instructions Periodic Maintenance and Adjustment 1. Inspect all fasteners for tightness. 2. The drive chains require adjustment at intervals, depending on the mileage and the care which the operator has given the chains. Initial wear must be taken up by adjustment after the first few hours of use. Total deflection should be 1/2″ to 3/4″ when measured midway between the two sprockets of the most loose position. To adjust the chains, loosen the axle bolts and the adjusting bolt lock nuts, and turn the adjusting bolts equally in or out as required to give the chain the proper setting. After adjusting the chain, rotate the wheel and check to make sure the chain is aligned properly. Periodically, the chains should be removed from the machine and cleaned in solvent and re-lubricated. They should be lubricated with one of the chain lubricants on the market which can be applied to the chain in a liquid form and will penetrate to the inner parts of the rollers. 3. Clean the air filter based on use. See Engine Manual. 4. Use normal repair procedures for tires and tubes. Re-seat the tire beads with 40 PSI , then deflate to the 3 -5 PSI operating pressure.

DISASSEMBLING THE COMPONENTS – Never use pliers or similar tools to slacken and/or tighten nuts and bolts. Always use a suitable spanner. – Mark all connections (hoses, wiring, etc.) with their positions before disconnecting them. Identify each connection using a distinctive symbol or convention. – Mark each part clearly to avoid confusion when refitting. – Thoroughly clean and wash any components you have removed using a detergent with low flash point. – Mated parts should always be refitted together. These parts will have seated themselves against one another in service as a result of normal wear and tear and should never be mixed up with other similar parts on refitting. – Certain components are matched-pair parts and should always be replaced as a set. – Keep the motorcycle and its components well away from heat sources. ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS To disconnect the electrical connector, follow the procedures below. Failure to comply with these procedures may lead to irreparable damages to the connector and the wiring as well. If present, press the special safety hooks. ENGINE OIL DANGER Prolonged or repeated contact with engine oil may cause severe skin damage. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling engine oil. Do not release into the environment. Dispose of engine oil through the nearest waste oil reclamation firm or through the supplier. Wear latex gloves during servicing. Change engine after the first 1000 km (621 mi) and then every 6000 km (3728 mi), 2.11.2. (Recommended) oil fork , see 1.8.1. FRONT FORK OIL DANGER Modifying the suspension settings or the viscosity of the front fork oil will affect its response. Standard oil viscosity: SAE 20 W. Choose the oil viscosity to determine the type of response required (SAE 5W for a softer suspension, 20W for a stiffer suspension). The two grades can also be mixed in varying solutions to obtain the desired response. F.A. or Fork have special properties, which enable them to retain virtually the same viscosity regardless of temperature to give constant damping response

1. Warmup the engine for several minutes. 2. Stop the engine. Securely support the machine on its sidestand. IMPORTANT: Take the proper precautions sot hem achinedoes not tip while working on it. Place an oil pan under the engine and loosen the oil fill cap/ dipstick. 3. Remove the drain plug (1) and drain the oil. 4. Remove the oil filter (2). 5. Reinstall the drain plug with anew sealing washer or O-rIngfromthekit. Torque drain plug to the specification listed in the Owner’sManualorService Manual. 6. Apply alight coat of engine oil to theO-ring of the new oil filter. Make sure the O-ring is seated properly in the groove on the filter. 7. Install filter and tighten it 3/4 of a turn after O-ring contacts engine case. 8. Remove the fill cap/dipstick and fill the engine with the amount of oil recommended in the Owner’sManualor Service Manual and reinstall the dipstick /filler cap. 9. Start the engine and warm it up for several minutes and check for leaks. If any leaks are found, stop the engine and determine the source of the problem before starting the engine again. Contact your Victory dealer if you cannot determine the source of the leak. NOTE: After the engine is started, the oil indicator light should go off. If the indicator light flickers or remains on, immediately stop the engine and take your motorcycle to a Victory dealer. 10. Stop the engine and inspect oil level (refer to the Owner’sManualorService Manual). 11. Install the fill cap/dipstick and tighten securely

INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS 3-1 3 EAU10460 Main switch/steering lock The main switch/steering lock controls the ignition and lighting systems, and is used to lock the steering. The various positions are described below. EAU26900 ON All electrical circuits are supplied with power, and the meter lighting, taillight, license plate light and position lights come on, and the engine can be started. The key cannot be removed. NOTE: The headlights come on automatically when the engine is started and stay on until the key is turned to “OFF”, even if the engine stalls. EAU10660 OFF All electrical systems are off. The key can be removed. EAU10680 LOCK The steering is locked, and all electrical systems are off. The key can be re- moved. To lock the steering 1. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left. 2. Push the key in from the “OFF” position, and then turn it to “LOCK” while still pushing it. 3. Remove the key. To unlock the steering Push the key in, and then turn it to “OFF” while still pushing it. WARNING EWA10060 Never turn the key to “OFF” or “LOCK” while the vehicle is moving, otherwise the electrical systems will be switched off, which may result in loss of control or an accident. INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS 3-2 3 EAU11003 Indicator and warning lights EAU11030 Turn signal indicator lights “” and “” The corresponding indicator light flashes when the turn signal switch is pushed to the left or right. EAU11060 Neutral indicator light “” This indicator light comes on when the transmission is in the neutral position. EAU11080 High beam indicator light “” This indicator light comes on when the high beam of the headlight is switched on. EAU11250 Oil level warning light “” This warning light comes on when the engine oil level is low. The electrical circuit of the warning light can be checked by turning the key to “ON”. If the warning light does not come on for a few seconds, then go off, have a Yamaha dealer check the electrical cir- cuit. NOTE: Even if the oil level is sufficient, the warning light may flicker when riding on a slope or during sudden acceleration or deceleration, but this is not a malfunction. This model is also equipped with a self-diagnosis device for the oil level detection circuit.
