Place jack under center on the ATV front end and lift until front wheels clear the ground. Be careful to support ATV properly so that it is secure, but so that the A-arms and shocks can droop to full extension. 2. Remove front wheels and shocks. 3. Using a shock spring compressor, compress the spring on the shock and remove the spring retaining ring.
CAUTION: The spring is installed under tension. Failure to use a shock spring compressor could cause loss of control of the spring, which could unload rapidly causing bodily injury. If you do not have a shock spring compressor you should acquire one or take it to a dealer or professional mechanic for installation of the stiffeners. 4. Remove the spring. 5. Insert the smaller front spring stiffener onto the shock with the lip of the spring stop, on the shock, mating into the recessed portion of the spring stiffener. 6. Slide the spring back onto the shock and it should rest on the lip of the spring stiffener.
7. Reattach the spring retaining ring. 8. Repeat steps for the opposite side. Once springs are complete reattach the top of the shock to the top shock mount on the ATV and the spring stiffener will be closest to the A-arm. 9. Take two of the “L” brackets and connect them to the bottom of the shock, the part that connects to the A-arms. 10. There is a top and bottom to the “L” bracket. See the diagram

NOTICE: The front wheels of the vehicle must be maintained in the straight ahead position and the steering column must be in the LOCK position before disconnecting the steering column or intermediate shaft. Failure to follow these procedures will cause improper alignment of some components during installation and result in damage to the SIR coil assembly. NOTICE: Once the steering column is removed from the vehicle, the column is extremely susceptible to damage. Dropping the column assembly on its end could collapse the steering shaft or loosen the plastic injections that maintain column rigidity. Leaning on the column assembly could cause the jacket to bend or deform. Any of the above damage could impair the columns collapsible design. If it is necessary to remove the steering wheel. Installation Footpegs must be positioned so rider can operate all foot controls throughout their range of motion without interference. Failure to have full, unlimited access to foot controls could cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. 1. See Figure 1. Remove the bolt (6) and lockwasher (5) from the footpeg assembly (1). NOTE When installing the footpegs on a 1 inch (25 mm) diameter engine guard, use both clamps. . For 1 inch (25 mm) dia. engine guards: Place both the large clamp (2) andthe small clamp (1) around the engine guard as shown. Position the clamps on the straight, upright section of the guard. For 1-1/4 inch (32 mm) dia. engine guards: Discard the small clamp (1). Place the large clamp (2) around the engine guard. Position the clamp on the straight, upright section of the guard. 2. For ALL engine guards: Install two step spacers (4) inside the clamp on either side of the engine guard as shown. 3. Put the lockwasher (5) on the bolt (6). Insert the bolt through the clamp and spacers, and thread into the footpeg assembly as shown. Mount the footpegs so they will not strike the ground during cornering. Footpegs striking the ground during cornering could result in death or serious injury. 4. Position the footpeg for rider comfort, and rotate the footpeg assembly so it folds upward and to the rear. Tighten bolt (6) to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) so the footpeg does not rotate on the bar. 5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the right side

INSTALLATION Shifter Side, Left Block or jack vehicle under frame in a way that the vehicle will not fall over. Failure to properly block and/or raise the vehicle could result in death or serious injury. (00462c) 1. Block the motorcycle under the frame so that it is upright and level, with the weight off of the jiffy stand. 2. Remove footpeg. 3. Remove jiffy stand, shifter linkage and bracket per applicable Service Manual instructions, retaining hardware. 4. See Figure 5. Obtain the new left side shifter bracket (2), and three TORX® screws (3) from the kit. 5. Place washers previously removed on the screws. Apply LOCTITE® 243 (Blue) to the threads, and install the new bracket assembly to the motorcycle frame. Tighten the screws to 40 ft-lbs (54.2 Nm) . 6. See Figure 5. Install footpeg with spring washer (8), clevis pin (10) and retaining ring (9). If leg stop is incorrectly installed, excessive wear can allow vehicle to fall when rested on jiffy stand, which could result in death or serious injury. (00479b) 7. Install jiffy stand and attach the spring. When properly installed, the hook on the spring side connected to the bracket will face upward. 8. Verify that rubber bumper is in place on prong of jiffy stand. Without the bumper, the stand will make hard contact with the primary drive cover when retracted, which may result in damage to the cover. 9. Extend and retract the jiffy stand leg several times to verify proper operation. The stand should swing freely to the fully extended and fully retracted positions. 10. Refer to applicable Service Manual and re-attach the shifter linkage

INSTALLATION Do not operate vehicle with brake disc lock in place. Operation with lock on disc will restrict movement of the wheel, which could result in death or serious injury. (00457b) NOTE Insert key all the way to the bottom of the cylinder. Turn key clockwise 180 degrees to the open position. DO NOT FORCE KEY! Key should turn freely. If key does not freely rotate, try turning key slightly left and right while inserting to align disks inside cylinder. Failure to insert key all the way to the bottom of cylinder could cause key to jam. For Models with Hydraulic Fork Front Ends 1. See Figure 1. INSTALLATION Position footpegs so rider can operate foot controls without interference. Determine what height on the engine guard you prefer for the final mounting of the footpeg mounts. Mark location, if desired. 2. See Figure 2. Obtain clamp assembly (1) from kit. Wrap the clamp halves around the engine guard and install with hinge pin head facing upward. Place the flatwasher between the ears of the clamp halves. Hold parts in posi- tion. 3. Obtain the lockwasher (13), screw (7) and one of the footpeg extensions (14) (long or short depending on kit number) from kit. 4. Position the clamp adapter (10) over the clamp assembly (1) with the “cogged” face of the adapter facing the extension arm (14). Hold clamp adapter in place. 5. Install screw (7) with internal tooth lockwasher (13) through the clamps, the clamp adapter (10) and into the extension arm (14). Position extension arm as desired. Do not tighten completely at this time. 6. Obtain the clevis/extension assembly (6) from kit. Position assembly such that footpeg pivots upward and toward the rear of the bike. Install the D- spring washer so it is positioned inside the clevis (3) with the square “D” edge towards the inside of the mount. Hold the washer in place and slide the footpeg into position. Install the screw (6) and tighten to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm). 8. Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the opposite side. Position the footpeg assemblies so they are at equal heights and symmetrical. Securely tighten each assembly until it cannot be rotated on the guard with reasonable foot pressure, but do not exceed 55 ft-lbs (81 Nm) on item 7

INSTALLATION 1. Remove the locknuts and screws that hold the existing footpegs in place. If the motorcycle is equipped with a pin and retaining ring, remove them and retain for future use. INSTALLATION 1. See Figure 1. Remove locknuts (1) and screws (2) that hold existing footpegs in place. Save hardware for installation of new footpegs. 2. Remove existing footpegs along with spring washers (3). Save spring washers for installation of new footpegs. 3. Install new footpegs in the same manner as old footpegs were installed: •Place a spring washer (3), along with the mount end of the footpeg, inside the slots of the footpeg supports (4). •Make sure the spring washer is positioned inside the footpeg support with the square edge toward the inside of the support. •Secure each footpeg and spring washer with a screw (2) and locknut (1). •Tighten locknuts to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm) . REMOVAL To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 1. Remove the main fuse. Refer to the service manual. 2. Remove the existing air cleaner backplate. Refer to the service manual. Save the original equipment (OE) button head screw that secures the air cleaner cover. Discard the remaining parts. 3. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to the service manual. 4. See Figure 1. Remove and discard the induction module support bracket. is05912 Figure 1. Remove Induction Module Support Bracket INSTALLATION Air Cleaner Installation Use only supplied air cleaner cover. Use of another air cleaner cover could cause element failure and detachment of the air cleaner cover, which could distract the rider and result in death or serious injury. (00596b) NOTE When servicing the air cleaner, apply Loctite 243 – Blue to the threads of all fasteners. 1. See Figure 3. Install two O-rings (1) from the kit in the grooves around the breather bolt holes on the induction module side of the backplate assembly (2). Install the remaining two O-rings in the grooves in the underside of the heads of the breather bolts (5). 2. Remove the liner from the adhesive backing of the gasket (3). Carefully position the adhesive side of the gasket to the backplate, aligning to the equally spaced screw holes, and press the gasket firmly into place. 3. Insert new breather bolts (5) through the backplate. 4. Apply Loctite 243 – Blue to the breather bolt threads and the mating tapped holes in the cylinder head. 5. Thread the bolts into the cylinder head, but do not tighten. 6. Thread the air cleaner mounting studs (4) all the way through the backplate (2) until the screw threads are captured in the induction module. Do not tighten completely at this time. 7. Alternately tighten the two breather bolts to 120-144 in- lbs (13.6-16.3 Nm) . 8. Tighten the three air cleaner studs to 55-60 in-lbs (6.2- 6.8 Nm) . 9. Install the fuel tank. Using the screw, align and install the angled arm with washer (5) positioned between the clamp “ears”. 4. See Figure 1. Obtain the footpeg (sold separately), D-spring washer (10) and screw (7) from kit. Install the D-spring washer so it is positioned inside the footpeg mount (arm) with the square “D” edge towards the inside of the mount. Hold the washer in place and slide the footpeg into position. Install the screw and tighten footpeg screw to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm). 6. Note the two small tapped holes on the back side of the footpeg mount clevis area. Install the setscrew to the lower of the two holes. The angle of the footpeg is adjusted by running the set screw in and out. Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for the opposite side. 7. Position the footpeg assemblies so they are at equal heights and symmetrical. Securely tighten each assembly until it cannot be rotated on the engine guard with reasonable foot pressure but do not exceed 55-60 ft-lbs (75-81 Nm) on item 8
