There are also a total of Thirty Six (36) washers and two (2) “olive” conic inversors two (2) c-clips. Thirty Two (32) washers will be used, and two olives. The rest are spares. Step 2: Familiarize yourself with the brake lines, which are labeled for application. Lettered brake hoses A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, I are installed on the front of the motorcycle, while brake hoses (J and K) are installed on the rear. Each label will reference a different drawing, which will show you the location of each brake line. Step 3: To ensure no paint damage from brake fluid, completely cover the bike. This process can be messy, and brake fluid WILL drip! Step 3: Dry out (bleed) your OEM hoses, and take note of how the stock system is installed. You may want to take a
couple pictures, in case you need to re-install. Step 4: Remove the stock hoses on the front of the motorcycle, and replace with Galfer hoses labeled A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,K,I. Locate lline A. this hose will run from the master cylinder down to the Galfer t-block
joining line B to the right caliper upper mounting point. Line C will travel across the fender down to the left caliper upper mounting point. Line D will run from the (DELAY VALVE) up through the C-CLIP to the right side upper frame O.E.M tubing. The female fitting will thread onto the male with a (OLIVE). This O.E.M tubing travels to the rear master cylinder. Line E Travels from the lower delay valve down to the right caliper lower mounting point. INSTALLATION 1. Remove fasteners from stock fender skirt. NOTE Some early models have rivets for fasteners. These rivets will need to be drilled out. Drill the rivet heads to a sufficient depth to remove the head from the rivet shaft. Do not attempt to drill the rivet all the way through. This may scratch the fender?s painted surface. 2. Remove stock fender skirt. 3. Thoroughly clean the fender under the skirt. At this point it may be a good idea to wax this portion of the fender to prevent rust in the future. 4. See Figure 1. Cut the adhesive foam strip (5) into three equal parts. Remove the backing from the adhesive strips and apply adhesive on middle and two sides at the inside/bottom of the fender skirt (1). The foam strips will prevent rattling and unwanted noise. NOTE On some later FLT models, there may not be enough fender skirt support to allow the application of adhesive strips. If this is true for your motorcycle, you may install this kit without the adhesive strips. 5. Place the fender skirt in position, aligning fastener holes. 6. Install the screws (2) from the outside of the fender. Install the washers (4) and nuts (3) inside the fender. 3 2 4 1 5 is03865 1. Fender skirt 2. Screws 3. Locknuts 4. Washers 5. Additional Fitment Information Detachables NOTE If motorcycle has not been altered from fixed saddlebag hardware to accessory mounting detachable docking points. the separate purchase of Turn Signal Mounting Bar (Part Number 68611-98) is required for sufficient lock clearance. This kit is available at your Harley-Davidson Dealer. Installing these saddlebags on models equipped with a detachable sissy bar or detachable luggage rack requires the additional purchase of mounting hardware kit as follows: Hardware Kit Fitment 53075-03 2003 and later FLSTC models with detachables 53009-03 1987 through 2002 FLSTC models with detachables See Service Parts Page for kit contents. Additional weight can affect motorcycle stability, handling characteristics, and safe operating speed. Do not exceed 7 lbs. (3.18Kg) maximum load in each saddlebag. Evenly distribute weight between each saddlebag. Improper loading can cause vehicle handling problems leading to death or serious injury. Wide Tire If a wide tire kit has been installed, utilize the hardware and installation instructions found in that kit to reorient the fasteners to come from the inside to the outside of the finder. Button head screws from wide tire kit must be installed from the inside out, with the button heads on the inside of the fender. Failure to do so could result in bolt contacting tire, which could result in death or serious injury. Installation NOTE A Service Manual for your vehicle is available at your Harley-Davidson Dealer. 1. Remove seat. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative cable first) before proceeding. (00048a) Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with the negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks may cause a battery explosion which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 2. Disconnect battery cables, negative cable first. 3. Following instructions in applicable Service Manual, remove original saddlebags from supports. Install Turn Signal Mounting Bar If motorcycle is not equipped with accessory mounting detachable docking points, install Turn Signal Mounting Bar (Part No. 68611-98) following instructions provided with the kit.
