INSTALLATION 1. Remove existing front wheel assembly. Save axle, axle nut, brake disc, and wheel spacers for kit installation. Refer to FRONT WHEEL in service manual. For FLSTC and FLSTN models: Discard moon-style hub cap. Do not re-use brake disc screws. Re-using disc screws can result in torque loss and damage to rotor and/or brake assembly. (00319b) 2. See Figure 1. Install valve stem assembly (D) on wheel. Refer to TIRES in service manual. 3. Assemble wheel installation kit components and brake disc(s) to wheel, using the appropriate service parts table. Refer to FRONT WHEEL in service manual. NOTES Install the primary bearing first with the WHEEL BEARING REMOVER/INSTALLER, following the service manual instructions. The machined grooves in the hub face indicate the primary bearing side. The front wheel should be installed so that the valve stem is on the right side of the motorcycle. 4. Install wheel assembly parts from the appropriate service parts table for your fitment and stock brake disc(s). Discard parts from the installation kit that are not required. Refer to FRONT WHEEL in service manual. 5. For FLSTC and FLSTN Models: Install wheel kit and right side wheel spacer provided in kit installation. All other models: Install wheel spacers previously removed. 6. Install front wheel (1), stock axle and stock axle nut. Refer to FRONT WHEEL in service manual. 7. For 2009-Later TLE/U Sidecars: Assemble the sidecar brake disc and hub cap (purchased separately) to the wheel. The brake disc is to be installed on the side of the wheel opposite the valve stem. 1. Find a mounting location for control box. The box is designed to be mounted to the top frame rail between split tanks, but can be mounted in a wide variety of places. If possible the box should be fastened using small screws or rivets but can be wire tied in place. Make sure the location is away from moving parts and heat sources. 2. Pre-fit harness to bike. Attach rear harness to control box. Each wire is color coded and labeled. Route individual wires to their destinations and do not cut to length. Keep wires in a bunch until they need to branch off. Use electrical tape to hold main wire bunch wherever individual or multiple wires branch off. Keep wires away from sharp edges or pinch points and leave extra wire for suspension movement. Repeat this for front and right/left harnesses. All wires not being used should be cut off at connector or secured to prevent shorts. When all wires are routed, cut excess length from ends leaving a couple extra inches for final fitment. 3 Remove pre-fitted harness from bike to install heat shrink tubing. Start at main connector and cut tubing approximately 1 inch past first branch. This will allow the next piece of tubing to slide into the first. Repeat this along entire harness. After encasing harness with heat shrink, use a heat gun to shrink tubing starting at main connectors. Be careful to not burn through the tubing with too much heat. Refit the harness to the bike, attaching to frame where necessary. Cut the ends of harness to length and strip the ends. Attach the terminals to the wire ends and use heat gun to shrink ends. Attach terminals to their destinations. 4. The diagnostic LED’s are used to locate shorts or overloads. Pinched or bare wires, faulty components or too much current draw usually causes these. If an LED is on, turn off the bike, locate and correct the problem, then turn the bike back on. The bike must be turned off to reset the protection circuit. If no LED’s are lit, but turn signals and dash lights do not work properly, make sure the control box main ground has a good connection to the chassis ground. 5. The control box operates the turn signals as listed: First command – flash 10 times then cancel Second command on same side – cancel Second command opposite side – cancel current sequence, flash 10 times then cancel Both sides at same time – hazard, all signals flash Brake switch – flash rear signals three times then stay on for 30 seconds

INSTALLATION 1. Remove the seat. 2. See Figure 1. Loosen the two socket head screws on the instrument panel console. Raise the console enough to access the two pushnuts holding the upper end of the leather insert. Remove and discard the pushnuts using pliers or a blade-type screwdriver. 3. Remove and discard the phillips head screw (3) and washer (4) securing the lower portion of the leather insert to the fuel tank. Remove the leather insert and discard it. 4. Obtain the dash panel extension (1) and the dash panel extension trim (2) from kit. Place the dash panel extension on the dash panel extension trim making sure the panel is centered and fits cleanly into the lips on both sides of the trim. 5. Gently lift up on the rear of the instrument panel console and install the dash panel extension with the rubber dash panel extension trim underneath, butting the two together. Make sure the rubber dash panel extension trim is aligned with the dash panel extension. Finger tighten the two socket head screws to hold down the instrument panel temporarily in place. NOTE The console rubber trim from a stock vehicle may need to be trimmed slightly to assure proper fit. NOTE When performing the next step, note that proper alignment is achieved when space is eliminated between the instrument panel console and/or between the dash panel extension trim piece and the fuel tank. Due to variances in fuel tank and instrument panel console fitments, the foam pads are used on “as needed” basis to achieve proper alignment. It may be necessary to experiment a few times using various combinations of pads to achieve the desired alignment. In some cases, pads may not be necessary while in others, it may be necessary to use all with one stacked above another. 6. Observe the overall fitment of the panels over the tank and determine whether the foam pads will be necessary to achieve the desired alignment. 7. If necessary, remove the dash panel extension assembly. Peel the adhesive backing and install the needed foam pads (5) to the raised areas extending from the front of the dash panel extension as shown. Re-install the panel. 8. When the proper alignment between the new kit and the fuel tank is achieved, tighten the rear mounting screw (3) with the washer (4) to the speed nut located on the tab at the rear of the fuel tank. 9. Tighten to 18-24 in-lbs (2.0-2.7 Nm). 10. Tighten the instrument panel console?s two socket head screws to 18-24 in-lbs (2.0-2.7 Nm). 11. Install the seat

1. IHRO 1 caters for single cylinder thoroughbred Grand Prix racing motorcycles constructed during the period 1945-1972 inclusive, for the specific purpose of participation in Grand Prix competition during that era. Maximum capacity for any machine is 500cc, and wherever possible it is intended to run three classes, for machines up to 250cc, 350cc and 500cc. 2. Motorcycles must be presented in original, period condition, with no external updating. Period appearance seats, fuel tanks and fairings (if fitted) must be used. No external changes may be made to the appearance of any machine unless it can be proved that such a change was made in the period. Modern safety fixtures required by some federations and modifications mentioned in this document are not covered by this ruling. 3. No disc brakes are allowed. Drum brakes only may be used. 4. No alloy/magnesium wheels are allowed. Wire wheels only may be used. 5. All machines must have twin shock rear suspension: No monoshocks except Vincent Grey Flash. Suspension units must resemble period components, i.e. no external gas reservoirs etc. 6. All frames and swinging arms must conform exactly to period appearance; no box section swinging arms allowed unless fitted by the manufacturer to that machine in the period. 7. The maximum permitted rim width on either wheel is WM3. 8. No slick tyres, hand cut slicks or modern racing tyres designated by the manufacturer as being exclusively for wet weather use are permitted. Only the following rear tyres may be fitted. Any 19″ tyre. The following 18″ tyres, Dunlop 3.50×18, 3.50/3.25×18 KR124 and KR124A, Avon AM22 110/80×18 Rear Fitment and Avon AM18 120×18 9. Choice of carburettor is free, provided that this is of a period type cylindrical slide model, albeit of a later manufacture. Flat slide instruments are not permitted with the exception of Gardner carburettors. Fuel injection is not permitted except if it can be proved that particular motorcycle ran between 1945-72 with the same type of injection system fitted. A Wal Philips injector is classified under this heading. 10. The type of fuel used must conform to the ACU and FIM’s current fuel regulations for 100LL Avgas at 102 MON. See full specifications below. All machines must finish a race with a minimum of 2 litres of fuel in the tank to allow a sample to be taken for analysis. 11. The use of belt primary drives is encouraged.
