Bring the engine to operating temperature. C. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector. D. Start the engine. After the engine has stalled, turn the ignition switch OFF. E. Disable the fuel return line by blocking the line or installing the appropriate plug in the return outlet, if applicable. NOTE: Do NOT clamp plastic lines. F. Install the device adapter to the fuel line and then secure the swivel fitting on the end of the hose. G. Make sure the ball valve on the device is turned OFF (valve handle is crosswise to device). Screw the can of EFI cleaner (P/N 00289-1PF14) onto the device can adapter. H. Open the valve on the device, start the vehicle, and allow it to run until the engine stalls. I. Turn the ball valve OFF and remove the empty can. J. Place a shop towel over the can adapter and slowly open the ball valve to depressurize the system. K. Remove supply and return line adapters, reconnect vehicle fuel supply and return lines (replacing any fuel line gaskets and seals), and connect the fuel pump electrical connector. L. Before starting the vehicle, pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks. Run the engine for 4 – 5 minutes, and then snap the throttle several times to dislodge any carbon that may remain in the system.

Do NOT smoke or work near an open flame when working on the fuel system. Keep gasoline away from rubber or leather parts. Wear safety goggles while working with the fuel system under pressure. Do NOT disconnect any part of the fuel system until you have discharged the fuel system pressure. Even after discharging the fuel pressure, place a shop rag over fittings as you separate them to reduce risk of fuel spray on yourself or in the engine compartment. 1. Discharge fuel system pressure. A. Remove Circuit Opening Relay from Relay Block No. 1 located to the left of the Instrument Panel Junction Block behind the left lower finish panel If the connector and pipe are stuck, pinch the fuel pipe, push and pull the connector by hand to disconnect them. Do not use any tools. E. Drain the fuel that remains inside Fuel Pipe Sub-assembly No. 1. F. Place a tray under the vehicle or point of disconnection, if needed, to catch any fuel that may spill. G. Protect the disconnected fuel lines from debris by covering with a vinyl or plastic bag. H. Remove the original pulsation damper from the rear fuel rail. I. Remove and discard the remaining bolt holding Fuel Pipe Sub-assembly No. 1 to the front fuel rail

Relationship Between Tire Characteristics and Vehicle Pulling to One Side When radial tires are rotating, they have the characteristic of generating force in the lateral direction between the tire and the road surface. This lateral force is comprised of two factors: S Ply-steer, which changes direction according to the rotation direction of the tires.
S Conicity, which is generated in a fixed direction regardless of the tire rotation direction. If these lateral forces are too strong, vehicle pulling will occur. A. Ply-Steer Lateral force due to ply-steer is produced by the construction of the belts inside the tire tread. With radial tires, the wire of the belt is slanted as shown in the illustration below. Thus, it is in the lateral direction that tire tread easily changes shape (stretches), and lateral force is generated between the tire and the road surface in the lateral direction.

(00307a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 1. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the battery cables, negative cable first. Retain all seat mounting hardware. When servicing the fuel system, do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks in the vicinity. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00330a) 2. Loosen the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK REMOVAL in the appropriate section (Carbureted or EFI Engine) of the Service Manual. Direct contact of D.O.T. 5 brake fluid with eyes can cause eye irritation, swelling, and redness. Avoid eye contact. In case of eye contact flush with large amounts of water and get medical attention. Swallowing large amounts of D.O.T. 5 brake fluid can cause digestive discomfort. If swallowed, obtain medical attention. Use in well ventilated area. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. (00144a) Direct contact of D.O.T. 4 brake fluid with eyes can cause irritation. Avoid eye contact. INSTALLATION 1. Remove the seat according to the procedure in the applicable Service Manual. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 2. Disconnect battery cables, negative cable first. Stop the engine when refueling or servicing the fuel system. Do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks near gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00002a) NOTE There are two possible methods of connecting the directional signal wires; using the 6-place connector, or by splicing the wires using connectors supplied in the kit. If the splicing method is selected, it will not be necessary to remove the fuel tank. However, the splices will be visible. Proceed to Step 4. 3. Remove the fuel tank according to the procedure in the appropriate Service Manual. 4. See Figure 1. Remove the existing right directional signal according to the procedure in the appropriate Service Manual. Save the internal-tooth lockwasher (1) and spacer (2). 5. Place the internal-tooth lockwasher (1) and spacer (2) (saved in Step 4) on the mirror shaft, and install the mirror (3) in the mounting bracket. Secure the mirror using an internal-tooth lockwasher (4) and acorn nut (5) (both supplied in the kit). If the acorn nut (5) “bottoms” without tightening, add a spacer (6) from the kit in the location shown. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the left directional signal.
