Pump brake lever to drain brake fluid. Repeat step for the other caliper. 3. Remove bolt and two sealing washers to disconnect brake line fitting from master cylinder. Save bolt and discard washers.

INSTALLATION Outer Fairing/Windshield and Auxiliary Lamp Bracket Removal To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove maxi-fuse before proceeding. Refer to SYSTEM FUSES, MAXI- FUSE in Service Manual. NOTE Since the outer fairing screws hold the windshield in place, the windshield may fall to the floor if not removed. 2. Remove the windshield and outer fairing. Refer to UPPER FAIRING/WINDSHIELD in Service Manual for the outer fairing/windshield removal procedure. 3. Disconnect auxiliary lamp and turn signal connectors. NOTE See Figure 1. On 2005 and prior year models, the left and right turn signals plug into a 6-place connector located on the left fairing support brace. On 2006 and later models, each turn signal plugs into its own 4-place connector located toward the bottom of the inner fairing on each side. 4. Using a T40 Torx® drive head, remove and save the four bolts securing the auxiliary head lamp bracket to the chassis. 5. Remove auxiliary lamp bracket from motorcycle. Route turn signal wire under cutout on mounting bracket and place bracket onto motorcycle. NOTE Care must be taken so the turn signal wire is not pinched between turn signal bracket and motorcycle chassis. 3. Install washers onto turn signal bracket mounting bolts and apply Loctite 243 (blue) (99642-97) to the bolt threads. 4. Tighten mounting bolts to 15-20 ft-lbs (20-27 Nm) . 5. Route turn signal leads toward harness connector. Secure loose wiring with tie straps so wires do not rub against any sharp objects

INSTALLATION Perform this installation when the engine is cool. Working on or near the exhaust system when the engine is hot could result in severe burns. (00311a) 1. Remove the two rear bearing housing screws (2) from the side of the transmission case. 3. Remove the oil level dipstick from the oil spout on the side of the transmission housing, wipe off and set it aside for later installation. NOTE Insert a clean shop rag into the oil spout opening while the dipstick is not installed. With the dipstick removed, small parts or other foreign material could fall into the transmission, leading to equipment damage or malfunction. 4. See Figure 2. Obtain the rear interface mounting bracket (1) from the kit. 5. Apply a few drops of Loctite 243 (Blue) to the threads of the two bearing housing screws removed in Step 2. Install the rear interface mounting bracket to the bearing housing with the screws, and tighten to 13-18 ft-lbs (17.6-24.4 Nm) . 6. See Figure 1. Remove the upper front bearing housing screw (3) from the side of the transmission case. Loosen the lower front bearing housing screw (4). 7. See Figure 2. Obtain the front interface mounting bracket (2) from the kit. 8. Apply a few drops of Loctite 243 (Blue) to the threads of the upper front bearing housing screw removed in Step 6. Hook the slot in the front interface mounting bracket under the loosened lower screw head. Install the bracket to the bearing housing with the upper screw, and tighten both screws to 13-18 ft-lbs (17.6-24.4 Nm) . 9. See Figure 1. Remove and retain the three socket head cap screws (1) that fasten the right side and left front corner of the transmission cover. 10. Remove and retain the screw fastening the rear brake line P-clamp to the rear fork bracket. 11. See Figure 2. Obtain the right rear interface cover (3), two chrome 1/4-20 screws (6) and two flat washers (7) from the kit. 12. From the rear of the motorcycle, bring the right rear interface cover into position behind the rear exhaust pipe, over the bearing housing. The hole in the top surface of the cover should be positioned over the right rear transmission top cover hole. 13. Loosely fasten the interface cover to the rear interface mounting bracket with the two chrome screws and flat washers. 14. Obtain the chrome top interface cover (4) from the kit. 15. Position the top interface cover over the transmission top cover, overlapping the tab at the top front of the chrome right rear interface cover

Raise the rear of the vehicle to allow access to the underside of the rear fender. LICENSE BRACKET AND ILLUMINATOR REMOVAL For Models WITHOUT a Center Tail Lamp NOTE See Figure 1. Rear Fender, Models Without Center Tail Lamp 1. Remove the rear reflector and mounting block (2) from the underside of the rear fender (1). 2. Remove the license plate from the vehicle (if installed). Retain the plate and attaching hardware. NOTE Before removing rear wiring, note wire routing. -J04856 1 of 10 3. Remove the rear lamp wiring from behind the wire channels (3) on the underside of the fender. 4. Disconnect the two-way license lamp connector [93] and the four-way right [18] and left [19] stop/tail/turn (STT) lamp connectors from the STT module in the area under the seat. 5. Remove the two 5/16-18 screws (5) retaining the license plate bracket mount assembly (4) to the fender support. 6. Remove the license plate illuminator (6) from the license plate bracket mount assembly. Save the illuminator. The bracket mount (4) and four screws (5, 7) can be discarded. 7. Proceed to License Bracket and Illuminator Assembly . For Models WITH a Center Tail Lamp NOTE On these models, the license plate illuminator is part of the center tail lamp and is not removed. 1. Remove the three screws retaining the license plate bracket to the tail lamp housing. Remove the bracket and set aside for later assembly. 2. Proceed to Rear Lamp Wiring, For Models WITH a Center Tail Lamp and RED Stop/Turn Signals or AMBER Turn Signals . LICENSE BRACKET AND ILLUMINATOR ASSEMBLY For Models WITHOUT a Center Tail Lamp 1. See Figure 7. Get the new license plate bracket (3), illuminator cover (4), spacer (6) and two M4 screws (5) from the kit, and the license plate illuminator (A) removed from the original equipment (OE) license plate bracket. 2. See Figure 2. Assemble the illuminator (1), spacer (2) and cover (3) to the license plate bracket (5) in the sequence shown, and tighten the screws (4) securely. 3. Get the STT relocation weldment (6), two screws (7) and two flat washers (8) from the kit. 4. Apply a few drops of Loctite 271 – Red to the clean screw threads. Assemble the license plate bracket to the weldment as shown, and tighten the screws to 120 in-lbs (13.6 N-m) . NOTE If using a metal tool to install the black nuts, protect the finish with cloth or paper to prevent damage. 5. Loosely install the black painted nuts (9) onto the threaded studs on each side of the STT relocation weldment. 6. Remove the wires and socket terminals from the two-way license plate illuminator socket housing. Set the socket housing aside for later installation

Installation GENERAL The original equipment (stock) fender tip lamp assemblies must be removed and the wire(s) must be unplugged or removed as specified in the following instructions. FRONT FENDER TIP REMOVAL OF STOCK FRONT FENDER TIP LAMP ON 1994 AND LATER FLT MODELS 1. Refer to the applicable FLT Service Manual. Remove headlamp assembly with housing. 2. Locate the 3-place connector [32 in wiring diagram] through which 12vdc and electrical ground are connected to the fender tip lamp assembly. The connector locations are as follows: FLTC Ultra: Under fuse and circuit breaker block FLHT/C/C-U: On bottom of left outer fairing bracket FLHR: On left front above air suspension valve NOTE Before disassembling the connector in the next step, refer to the applicable wiring diagram and check wire colors and connections to assure that connector [32] has been located. 3. Refer to the “DEUTSCH ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR” section in the FLT Service Manual and remove the leads, connected to the fender tip lamp, from the socket half, connector [32B]. 4. Insert a small screwdriver blade in rectangular slot at top center of fender tip lamp lens and gently pry lens from lamp. 5. Remove two screws and nuts that fasten fender tip lamp assembly to front fender. Gently remove the lamp assembly taking care not to damage wires connected to lamp assembly. 6. Reach under left side of fender and gently pull wires through rear hole in left side of fender and then through clips on left side of fender and finally through front hole and out of trim strip. REMOVAL OF STOCK FRONT FENDER TIP LAMP ON 1993 AND EARLIER FLT MODELS, FLSTC AND FLSTN 1. Insert a small screwdriver blade in rectangular slot at top center of fender tip lamp lens and gently pry lens from lamp. 2. Remove two screws and nuts that fasten fender tip lamp assembly to front fender. Gently remove the lamp assembly taking care not to damage wire connected to lamp assembly. 3. Unplug wire connector located about 3 in. from lamp assembly. Cover the socket half of connector (connected to motorcycle wiring) with electrical tape. INSTALLING FRONT FENDER TIP TRIM FROM KIT-ALL MODELS 1. Position fender tip trim over holes in fender and guide outer ends of fender tip trim into trim strips on sides of fender. 2. Insert studs on fender tip trim through holes in fender and secure with locknuts included in kit. Tighten locknuts to 6 in-lbs . REAR FENDER TIP REMOVAL OF STOCK REAR FENDER TIP LAMP ON ALL MODELS Follow steps 1 through 3 given above for “1993 AND EARLIER FLT MODELS, FLSTC & FLSTN” INSTALLING REAR FENDER TIP TRIM FROM KIT-ALL MODELS 1. Position fender tip trim over holes in rear fender. 2. Insert studs on fender tip trim through holes in fender and secure with locknuts included in kit. Tighten locknuts to 6 in-lbs

Follow up by thoroughly wiping affected area with a clean, damp, soft cloth (small spills) or washing with a large quantity of soapy water (large spills). Cover nearby motorcycle surfaces with a polyethylene protective sheet to help protect against damage to finish caused by spillage or splashes of DOT 4 brake fluid. 5. Drain the brake fluid from the front brake reservoir and lines per the instructions in the service manual. NOTE Cover the front fender and the fuel tank with clean shop towels to prevent scratching. 6. Models with Radio: Remove the radio. See the service manual. Models without Radio: Remove the storage box. See the service manual. a. The four socket head screws fastening the radio or storage box to the left and right radio support brackets can be accessed through the oblong holes in the fairing brackets. Use a long shank ball-end socket to remove the screws. b. Pull the radio or storage box forward to remove it from the opening in the inner fairing. Remove brake line components carefully. Damage to seating surfaces can cause leakage. (00320a) 7. Remove and retain the button head screw on the underside of the fork stem and bracket assembly that holds the brake line manifold tee. 8. Note the front brake line routing and the orientation of the banjo fittings. Disconnect the brake line from the front brake calipers and the front brake master cylinder assembly. Save the banjo bolts, but discard the two gaskets found at each banjo fitting. See the service manual. 9. Remove the front brake line assembly. NOTES Refer to the parts catalog for this year and model for a replacement OE brake line assembly and clutch cable, if needed. Ask a Harley-Davidson dealer about the selection of Genuine Motor Accessory Custom Braided Clutch Cables and Brake Lines that are available. 10. Remove the front brake master cylinder and clutch lever assemblies from the handlebar. 11. Disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch lever. See the service manual.

It is covered by a dust cap. Pull the dust cap from the connector, and feed the connector downward and out from behind the shield. 6. Select the correct siren harness (3) for this model year vehicle from the kit. Route the three-pin connector (1) of the siren harness from the bottom of the motorcycle, between the primary cover and frame tube. Plug the connector into the siren harness connector (2) on the vehicle main harness. 7. Secure the connectors to the diagnostic harness using a cable strap from the kit. INSTALLATION Prepare the Motorcycle 1. Remove the right cover and the maxi-fuse. 2. Follow Service Manual instructions to remove the air box cover. Remove the Existing Rear Turn Signals 1. For 2006 and Earlier Models: See Figure 1. Insert a screwdriver into middle of hole of license plate light cover. Push forward to release tail lamp housing retaining clip. 2. See Figure 3. Identify the white left [19] (1) and black right [18] (2) 2 pin rear turn signal connectors. 3. See Figure 6. To separate the rear turn signal connector, press the button (1) and separate the pin terminal housing from the socket terminal housing. 4. On the socket terminal housing, press the latch (2) aside and open the secondary lock (3). 5. To remove the rear turn signal wires from the socket terminal housing, insert a pin (6) into the front socket cavity. Compress the tang (4) while gently pulling the wire and socket terminal (5) from the back. 6. See Figure 7. Inside the fender, remove the fasteners (1) and the turn signal support plate (2). Pull the turn signal wiring through holes in license plate mounting bracket and remove turn signals. 7. Repeat for the opposite turn signal. 1. For 2007 and Later Models: See Figure 2. Open seat and remove the nut and washer (3), seat post (2), passenger pillion and passenger seat (1) per the instructions in the Service Manual. 2. See Figure 4. Identify the left (1) and right (2) rear turn signal wires and 6 pin rear turn signal connector [94]. 3. See Figure 6. To separate the rear turn signal connector, press the button (1) and separate the pin terminal housing from the socket terminal housing. 4. On the socket terminal housing, press the latch (2) aside and open the secondary lock (3). 5. See Figure 5. Remove the turn signal wires from the 6 pin socket terminal housing. To remove the wires, insert a pin (6) into the front socket cavity. Compress the tang (4) while gently pulling the wire and socket terminal (5) from the back. Repeat for all four turn signal wires. Do not remove the license light wires from the socket terminal housing. 6. Gently pull the loose turn signal wires through the sheath toward the rear of the vehicle until completely removed from the sheath. 7. See Figure 7. Inside the fender, remove the fasteners (1) and the turn signal support plate (2). Pull the turn signal wiring through holes in license plate mounting bracket and remove turn signals. 8. Repeat for the opposite turn signal

PREPARATION NOTE For vehicles equipped with security siren: • Verify that the Hands-Free Fob is present. • Turn the ignition key switch to IGNITION. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 1. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions to remove the main fuse. INSTALLATION NOTE The Tour-Pak does not need to be removed from the vehicle to perform this installation. 1. Open the Tour-Pak lid and remove all items from the Tour- Pak base. 2. Models equipped with mat: Remove the mat. Models equipped with liner: Open the map pocket, and remove the acorn nuts with flat washers. Remove the map pocket and liner. 3. Remove four screws from the left-side speaker grille on the Tour-Pak. Remove the speaker grille from the speaker pod. 4. Remove the speaker from the speaker pod. Carefully pull the two socket terminals from the speaker spade contacts. 5. Remove the grommet, and draw the rear speaker/passenger controls connector out of the speaker pod. Separate the connector halves. 6. Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the right-side speaker. 7. See Figure 1. Get the drill template (3) from the kit. If NOT equipped with power port: a. Remove one speaker pod mounting screw and flat washer. b. Align the drill template on the inside of the Tour-Pak with the speaker pod holes, and hold in place with the mounting screw and washer. c. Repeat for the remaining template mounting holes. If equipped with power port: a. Remove the two screws and flat washers to free the power port from the Tour-Pak. b. Align the drill template on the inside of the Tour-Pak with the power port holes, and hold in place with the mounting screws and washers. c. Repeat with the top speaker pod mounting screw and flat washer. NOTE Tighten the screws enough to hold the speaker pod in place as the pilot hole is drilled. 8. Where indicated on the template, drill a 3/16 inch (5 mm) diameter pilot hole through the Tour-Pak wall and speaker pod. 9. Remove the screws and speaker pod, and set aside. Turn the template over, and repeat Steps 7 and 8 on the left side of the Tour-Pak. NOTE Hole size will affect the fitment of the ports. The hole saw needs to be sharp. 10. Carefully drill a two inch (51 mm) diameter hole with a sharp hole saw, at the pilot location, through each speaker pod and in both locations on the Tour-Pak wall. 11. Temporarily install the Tour-Pak liner (if equipped), and mark the location of the two inch (51 mm) diameter holes on the outside of the liner. Remove the liner, and carefully cut the two holes in the liner front wall
