1. Remove the seat 2. Remove the rear wheel. 3. Drain and remove the primary covers and drive belt. 4. Install the new supplied 13/16″ drive belt. 5. Re-install the primary covers, gasket, seal, and fluid. 6. Remove chrome fender strut covers. 7. Remove the plastic license plate mount and un-plug the turn signals 8. Remove the rear fender 9. Discard the long gold colored wiring covers from both sides of the inner fender. 10. Wash the inside of the fender thoroughly with soap and water. 11. Clean the inner fender along the wiring path with supplied alcohol. 12. Locate the wiring harness at the top right of the fender. 13. Firmly affix the 5 supplied zip holders along the wiring path. 14. Attach the harness using the supplied zip ties. Leave enough slack so that you can adjust the position of the harness once the fender is re-installed. 15. Re-install the fender using the supplied hardware. (The curved fender mounting brackets will be re-installed from the inside out using the 4 thin supplied nyloc nuts and washers. 16. Install the front license plate mount bolts inside out using the 2 supplied nylocs and washers. 17. Tighten the fender. Using a hack saw or cut off wheel, remove the remaining threaded studs flush with the nyloc nut on each of the fender brackets. 18. Re-install your chrome fender struts. 19. Adjust the wiring harness and tighten the zip ties. Cut off the excess zip tie. 20. Install the new Hogpro wheel, pulley, and the 200 tire of your choice. 21. Have Fun!

Holeshot Steering Damper 12 Then he attached a wire to the damper rod, to prevent it from getting lost in the fork tube, and pulled out the stock spacer and spring. 11 The Bandit has an internal damper that’s connected to the top and bottom of the fork tube. Kevin loosened the nut to detach it from the fork cap. 5 Rich loosened the damper body clamp and slid it onto the damper. 6 Next, he mounted the damper, front and rear, using a flat washer and a locking nut as a safety precaution. Then he began the final adjustments (see sidebar for details). When finished, he tightened the bolts in the fairing bracket. 7 To install the fork brace, Rich had to first carefully cut off the plastic fork protectors. 8 He placed the body of the brace between the forks and loosely bolted each end of the brace in place. He finished by tightening all the bolts to spec. 9 The Works Performance spring kit comes with everything needed for installation. 10 With the bike on the lift, Kevin jacked up the front end to reduce the spring load. If the gasket is in good condition, you can reuse it. 18 Since the stock pipe included a centerstand stopper, Muzzys provides a new one. With the muffler removed, I mounted the stop plate to the centerstand pivot bolt. 19 I carefully eased the Muzzys midsection pipe into the stock gasket, and then slid the muffler on and rotated it until the mounting brackets were aligned. 13 Kevin compared the stock spring assembly (bottom) to the Works one (top) to see if he needed to cut the provided spacer. There’s a difference of about .25″, but the instructions account for this discrepancy (years of the stock spring carrying a load), so no cutting was required.

1. Remove the fairing lowers. 2. For R1 owners, please remove the existing exhaust system from the EXUP valve rearward (EXUP valve is retained) and set aside. Save the stock exhaust clamp for reuse. For R6 owners, please disconnect the stock S-bend from the rear of the collector and set aside. Save the stock exhaust clamp for reuse (new clamp provided). Save the stock end can mounting bolt for reuse as well. 3. R1 owners only -Inspect the exhaust gasket. Replace if necessary (gasket provided). 4. For R1 owners -Install the S-Bend to the rear of the EXUP valve, make sure the system fits flush. Reuse the stock exhaust clamp to connect the S-bend to the valve. For R6 owners -Install the TiForce S-bend to the rear of the stock head pipes and collector. Make sure the system fits flush and snug. Reuse the stock exhaust clamp or the provided clamp and loosely attach for now. 5. Install the TiForce end can to the S-bend tail pipe. 6. Loosely attach the two rubber bands, stainless steel bands (K), and stay to the end can using the supplied 6mm hardware (H) and the hanger / stay arm (G). See figure 1 for the assembly procedure. 7. R1 owners -Place the bands approximately 180mm from the edge of the end can. See figure 2. R6 owners -Place the bands approximately 195mm from the edge of the end can. See figure 2. 8. R1 owners -Using the stock provided mounting point on the passenger footpeg, use the M10x45mm bolt and hardware to mount the end can loosely, allowing for some adjustment. 9. Carefully align the two stainless bands so that theyare parallel to each other, and spaced properly on the can. Tighten the 6mm hardware (H). Make sure that the rubber pads fully cover the bands (K). USE CAUTION WHEN TIGHTENING THE 6MM HARDWARE AND THE TWO BANDS SO AS NOT TO CRUSH OR DISTORT THE SLEEVE OF THE CAN. 10. Using some brake and contact cleaner on a clean rag, carefully wipe down the entire TiForce exhaust system to remove any residual oils, anti seize, fingerprints and dirt prior to starting the motor. FAILURE TO CLEAN THE TUBING AND CAN MAY RESULT IN PERMANENT STAINING OF THE SYSTEM WHEN HEATED. 11. Attach the supplied springs to secure the end can to the S-bend pipe using a spring installation tool if available. Make sure the exhaust system is free and clear of the bike. If necessary, adjust for proper clearance. 12. Go back and tighten all fasteners. 13. Check that all fasteners are tightened per specifications, then start the motor and check for exhaust leaks. 14. Reinstall the fairing lowers.

Install cylinder head a. Place a new cylinder head gasket on the engine block and install cylinder head. b. Apply a light coat of engine oil on the threads and washer face of the cylinder head bolts. c. Install the plate washer to the cylinder head bolt. d. Using a 12-point socket, install and uniformly tighten the (8) 12-point bolts in several passes, in the sequence shown in the illustration. Torque: 33 ft.lbs. (44 N-m, 450 kg-cm) e. Repeat for the other head. 2. Proceed with final tightening sequences: a. Mark the front side of the top of the bolt with a drop of paint as shown in the illustration

IMPORTANT INFORMATION N 300-008 300-016 EB101000 IMPORTANT INFORMATION PREPARATION FOR REMOVAL PROCEDURES 1.Remove all dirt, mud, dust and foreign material before removal and disassembly. 2.Use proper tools and cleaning equipment. Refer to the “SPEClAL TOOLS” section. 3.When disassembling the machine, always keep mated parts together. This includes gears, cylinders, pistons and other parts that have been “mated” through normal wear. Mated parts must always be reused or replaced as an assembly. 4.During machine disassembly, clean all parts and place them in trays in the order of disassembly. This will speed up assem~ bly and allow for the correct installation of all parts. 5.Keep all parts away f REPLACEMENT PARTS 1.Use only genuine Yamaha parts for all replacements. Use oil and grease recom- mended by Yamaha for all lubrication jobs. Other brands may be similar in function and appearance, but inferior in quality. E8101020 GASKETS, OIL SEALS AND O-RINGS 1.Replace all gaskets, seals and O-rings when overhauling the engine. All gasket surfaces, oil seal lips and O-rings must be cleaned. 2.Properly oil all mating parts and bearings during reassembly. Apply grease to the oil seal lips. INSTALLATION 1. See Figure 1. Remove screw (A) that holds the air cleaner cover (B) and seal (C). 2. Remove three T27 TORX® screws (D) to release the cover bracket (E) from the filter element (F). 3. Remove the filter element, pulling the two breather tubes (G) from hole on the inboard side of element. 4. Remove the two breather tubes (G) from the fittings on the two cylinder head breather bolts (I). 5. Remove the two breather bolts (I) and O-ring seals (K) from the air cleaner backplate (J) with a 7/16 inch deepwell socket. 6. Remove the backplate and gasket (H) from the injection module. 7. Aligning the flat edge of a new cover gasket (2) with the backplate molded tab, install a gasket (2), chrome cover (1) and second gasket, in order, on the air cleaner back- plate. 8. Install the breather bolts through the air cleaner backplate. Re-install O-ring seals onto each breather bolt. Install a washer (3) from the kit on each breather bolt. Apply Loctite 243 to the breather bolts and align holes in the backplate with the holes in the cylinder heads and install the breather bolts. Use a 7/16 inch deepwell socket and alternately tighten the breather bolts to 120-144 in-lbs (13.6-16.3 Nm) . 9. Slide gasket over the sleeve on the inboard side of filter element. 10. Install breather tubes about 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) into holes on inboard side of filter element. 11. Install breather tubes onto fittings of two cylinder head breather bolts. NOTE Air cleaner mounting without installation of the breather tubes allows crankcase vapors to be vented into atmosphere in violation of legal emissions standards. 12. Place the filter element onto backplate, with the flat side down, so that the hole on the inboard side of element fits over the molded boss in the backplate. 13. Align holes in cover bracket with those in filter element and start three screws. Stamp on cover bracket points downwards. Use a T27 TORX drive head, alternately tighten screws to 20-40 in-lbs (2.3-4.5 Nm) . 14. Make sure that the rubber seal is proper seated around perimeter of air cleaner cover and place cover on back- plate. 15. Fit the air cleaner cover onto backplate. Apply Loctite 243 to the threads of air cleaner cover screw. Install screw through cover and tighten to 36-60 in-lbs (4.1-6.8 Nm)

INSTALLATION 1. Remove and discard the screw and washer holding the rear brake master cylinder reservoir to the motorcycle frame. 2. See the Figure 1. Obtain the chrome screw (2) and washer (3) from the kit. Place the washer onto the screw threads. 3. Position the chrome rear brake reservoir cover (1) over the reservoir, lining up the holes. Fasten with the chrome screw and washer using the T27 TORX® key (6) from the kit. Tighten securely. 4. Slowly unscrew the original reservoir cap. Note the orientation of the reservoir gasket and the gasket collar, which may come off with the cap. Discard the original reservoir cap only. Set the gasket and collar aside for re-installation. Direct contact of D.O.T. 5 brake fluid with eyes can cause eye irritation, swelling, and redness. Avoid eye contact. In case of eye contact flush with large amounts of water and get medical attention. Swallowing large amounts of D.O.T. 5 brake fluid can cause digestive discomfort. If swallowed, obtain medical attention. Use in well ventilated area. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. (00144a) 5. Refer to the Owner’s Manual and follow the procedure to check the brake fluid level. Fill as needed with DOT 5 SILICONE HYDRAULIC BRAKE FLUID. Do not reuse old fluid. Only use DOT 5 hydraulic brake fluid from a sealed container. 6. Set the reservoir gasket back onto the lip of the reservoir and position the gasket collar onto the gasket. 7. Carefully position the new chrome cap (4) over the reservoir and screw it on. Tighten securely. 8. Clean the indented top surface of the new cap with a 50- 50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water and let it dry. 9. Peel the paper backing from the Bar and Shield emblem (5). Turn the emblem to the desired orientation and press it firmly into place on the top of the chrome cap. After repairing the brake system, test brakes at low speed. If brakes are not operating properly, testing at high speeds can cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury.

Installation CONSOLE REMOVAL To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative cable first) before proceeding. Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury (00049a). 1. Remove seat and disconnect battery, negative cable first. 2. Remove fuel tank mounting bolts. Lift fuel tank far enough to remove the speedometer sensor cable from the mounting clips under the tank. 3. See Figure 1. The 3-place speedometer sensor connector is located on the frame beneath the seat. Remove from t-stud and disconnect the connector. Cut the cable strap that holds sensor wires to right rear frame tube. 4. Remove instrument console mounting screws and lift console from tank. SPEEDOMETER REMOVAL 1. See Figure 2. Disconnect 8-place connector under console. Remove assembly from tank. 2. Cut remaining cable straps holding wires to instrument mounting bracket. Remove screws holding bracket to back of instruments. Remove bracket. 3. See Figure 3. Remove nuts and washers from terminal studs (1, 2 and 3). Remove wires from studs. 4. Unscrew the rubber function switch cover that protrudes from the left side of the console. Remove the function switch (3). 5. Gently push on bottom of speedometer and remove speedometer from top side of console. Remove gasket from speedometer. TACHOMETER REMOVAL 1. See Figure 3. Remove nuts and washers from terminal studs (3, 4 and 5). Remove wires from studs. 1 WARNING 1 WARNING

INSTALLATION NOTE See Figure 1. Be careful not to crack plastic fender lamp lens (2) or chrome plate when removing lens. 1. Remove fender lamp light lens (2) by placing screwdriver in slot in top of lens and carefully prying cover loose. Retain lens and gasket for later installation. 2. Installed Front fender Rail NOTE When installing fender rail (3), be sure fender rail supports are inside of fender. 3. Place fender rail (3) from kit into position, aligning the front bracket hole of rail with hole in front of fender (4). Fender rail supports will fit snugly inside fender. NOTE Be careful not to damage the fender lamp wire when securing front fender rail into place. 4. Use a magnet to place a 10-32 x 1/2 inch phillips screw through the hole in front fender and through front bracket hole of fender rail (3). 5. Loosely secure fender rail (3) to fender (4) with 1/2 inch flat washer and hex locknut. 6. On right side only, remove two hex socket head screws and nuts. Retain nuts for installation. 7. Replace original two socket head screws with 5/16-18 x 2 inch screws from kit. 8. For vehicles without caliper/rotor covers: On left side of fender (4) only, install a washer between rail (3) and fender for both screws. Replace original two hex socket head screws with 5/16-18 x 2 inch screws from kit. For vehicle with caliper/rotor covers: Do not replace hex socket head screw that supports caliper/rotor cover. On left side of fender (4), install a washer between fender (4) and rail (3) on screw that does not support the caliper/rotor cover (towards the front of the vehicle). Replace remaining hex socket head screw with 5/16-18 x 2 inch screw from kit. 9. Install four original nuts. 10. Tighten front bracket Phillips screw securely. Tighten four hex socket head screws to 14-18 ft-lbs (19-24 Nm). 11. Install gasket and fender lamp lens removed earlier
