1 Remove the seat 2 Remove the left hand side cover (Fig. A). 3 Unplug the stock wiring harness connector from the ECM (Fig. B). 4 Move the data plug (Fig. B) out of the way to access bolt. 5 Remove the 3 bolts that hold the electrical box in place (Fig. B). 6 Slide the plastic box out from the frame. 7 Route the stock connector through the box and into the small opening in the frame (Fig. C). Make sure to clean both surfaces with the alcohol swab first. Use the supplied velcro to attach the Power Commander. 11 Bolt the box back into place. 12 Reinstall the seat. Fig. D Fig.

Make sure they are situated away from the rear exhaust pipe. Make sure to clean both surfaces with the alcohol swab before attaching. Situate the PCIII so the USB and expansion ports point to the rear of the bike. This will allow you easier access to adjust the maps if necessary

EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION Assembling & Installing The Weather Resistant Case As- sembly The motorcycle Weather Resistant Case Assembly may be installed on almost any motorcycle. Installation instructions provided here include information for the Harley-Davidson Dyna and Road King models and the Kawasaki K1000. Figure 5 illustrates installation on Harley-Davidson motorcycles while Figure 6 illustrates installation on a Kawasaki K1000. Refer to these diagrams during installation. Installation on other motorcycles is at the discretion of the installer. Harley-Davidson Installation 1. Unpack the weather resistant motorcycle case, remove the key taped to the top cover and open the case. 2. Refer to Figure 5 and verify that all components shown in the diagram are available. 3. Mount the adapter bracket onto the Dyna or Road King radio mounting bracket (user supplied) using the 1/4-20 x 5/8 screws provided

1. Remove seat to gain access to rear oxygen sensor connector. Unplug sensor and feed end of wire through frame so that it is free from motorcycle. NOTE: Pay attention to wire routing for re-installation. 2. Remove two bolts holding rectifi er onto front of frame (near front tire). Open plastic cover to gain access to front oxygen sensor connector. Unplug sensor from harness. Remove cable tie holding wire to frame and feed end of wire through so that it is free from motorcycle. 3. Loosen heat shield clamps on both the front and rear head pipes. 4. Remove two cylinder exhaust port fl ange nuts from each head pipe, located at the cylinder head. 5. Remove front head pipe clamp bolt. 6. Remove the bolt that attaches muffl ers to the frame mounting bar. 7. Remove the complete exhaust system and set aside. Assistance may be required. 8. Remove stock mounting bar and the studs in the transmisson cover. Save the bolts, one will be re-used. 9. Remove left bolt below the transmission cover. Position mounting bracket 390-P over mounting location to determine which bolts to remove (Figure 1). Install this bolt in the top hole left vacant by the new bracket. 10. Carefully remove the fl anges and circlips from the stock exhaust system using snapring pliers. NOTE: Replace bent or damaged circlips. Check condition of stock exhaust gaskets. Replace if worn or damaged. (Recommended replacement exhaust port gaskets, Screamin’ Eagle part number 17048-98). 11. Remove stock oxygen sensors, they will be re-used on new system

1. Disconnect battery cable, negative (-) cable first. 2. Remove the left side rider footrest assembly. Save the footrest and fasteners for installation. Discard the remaining hardware. 3. From the kit, press hole plugs (8) into the screw holes on the frame where the stock footrest assembly was mounted. 4. Remove plugs from forward control frame mount (I) and discard. 5. Remove the foot shifter lever (A) and shifter peg (D). Discard the old foot shifter lever (A). Save the foot shifter lever hardware and shifter peg (D) for future use. 6. See Figure 2. Remove the primary chaincase cover (6) and primary chaincase housing (1). Refer to your model motorcycles Service Manual for removal procedures. NOTE See Figure 1. Before removing the gear shifter lever (1) ((H) in Table 1), it is necessary to mark the correct orientation of the lever. Using a marking tool, draw a location marking (4) on the end of the splined shaft (2) across from the casting split (3). Lever bolt Figure 1. Gear Shifter Lever Orientation 7. After marking the gear shifter lever orientation, loosen the lever bolt (5) and remove the old shifter lever. Discard the old gear shifter lever but keep the lever bolt. From the kit, install the new gear shifter lever onto the splined shaft in the same orientation as the old shifter lever. Tighten the lever bolt to 18-22 ft-lbs (24.4-29.8 Nm)

REMOVAL Remove Turn Signals 1. Locate and separate tail lamp connector (8-place multilock) under seat. Then remove wires from connector. Refer to AMP MULTILOCK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS in Service Manual. 2. 1996-1998 Models: Pull turn signal wires through clips (if present) and rear fender. 1999 and Later Models: a. See Figure 1. Remove two screws and tail lamp lens (1) from base (2). b. See Figure 2. Using a Terminal Pick Tool (HD-41475- 100) (1), depress locking tabs and remove turn signal connectors (2-place) (2, 3). Save connectors for kit installation. Refer to AMP MULTILOCK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS in Service Manual. c. Remove wires from turn signal connectors. Note location of terminal for proper reassembly. d. Remove turn signal wiring from clips under rear of fender and pull wires out

INSTALLATION 1. Remove and discard the original voltage regulator mounting screws. 2. See Figure 1. Place a chrome washer (4) onto each of the button head screws (5) from the kit. Insert the screws into the mounting holes in the new voltage regulator cover (1). Place first a spacer (2), then a Nylon washer (3) over the screw threads on the inside of the cover. 3. INSTALLATION Install Docking Point Kit Install the docking point kit following the instructions in that kit. Passenger Upright Installation 1. See Figure 1. Stand behind the motorcycle, and place (10) the front upright notches (2) into the front docking points (3). 2. See Figure 2. Check for correct notch engagement. NOTE Failure to correctly engage the sideplate notches to the docking points may result in damage to the docking points. 3. See Figure 1. Pull (11) the rotary latches (4) into a rearward position. Align the latches over the rear docking points (7), making sure the latches and rear notches (6) fit into the neck (8) of the rear docking points. NOTE This may require some gentle squeezing or spreading of the upright sideplates. 4. Push downward (12) on the side plates and close the rotary latches by rotating the latch levers as far forward as they will go (13). A click will be heard when the latch is in place. If the latch does not close, do not force it.

REMOVAL To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. See BATTERY MAINTENANCE in Service Manual. 2. Remove primary cover, primary drive, and clutch. See DRIVE COMPONENTS in Service Manual. 3. Remove primary chaincase according to the instructions in the Service Manual. 4. See Figure 2. Pull off the alternator rotor (1) using two bolts inserted through the holes in the rotor face. 5. Remove the two T-27 TORX screws (2). 6. Unplug the voltage regulator and remove the stator (3). See VOLTAGE REGULATOR in Service Manual. 7. Disassemble connector [46B] (A). See DEUTSCH ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS in Service Manual. NOTE Contact cleaner, alcohol, or glass cleaner sprayed on rubber grommet (B) will provide lubrication when pulling it through crankcase hole. 8. Move grommet (3) to one side and spray contact cleaner into gap. Repeat for other side. Pull rubber grommet (B) through crankcase hole. 9. Pull wires through crankcase hole. INSTALLATION 1. Insert wires through crankcase hole. 2. See Figure 1. Push rubber grommet (B) through crankcase hole. If necessary, apply the same lubricant used during removal. 3. Insert wires into connector [46B] (A). 4. Mate connector [46]. See VOLTAGE REGULATOR in Service Manual. is03776 Figure 1. Voltage Regulator 5. See Figure 2. Install the stator (3) on the crankcase and fasten in place using new TORX screws (2). Tighten to 55-75 in-lbs (6.2-8.4 Nm). 6. Install the rotor (1) on the sprocket shaft. 7. Apply Loctite Threadlocker 262 (red) to sprocket nut threads. Tighten sprocket nut to 150-165 ft-lbs (203.4- 223.7 Nm). 8. Install primary chaincase according to the instructions in the Service Manual. 9. Install clutch, primary drive, and primary cover. See DRIVE COMPONENTS in Service Manual. 10. Connect negative battery cable. See BATTERY MAINTENANCE in Service Manual

INSTALLATION 1. Remove seat. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 2. Align bottom of cover with tray (2) making sure that three clips on bottom properly seat (center) on both sides of retaining lip (6) at the base of the battery tray. b.
