1 Remove the seat 2 Remove the left hand side cover (Fig. A). 3 Unplug the stock wiring harness connector from the ECM (Fig. B). 4 Move the data plug (Fig. B) out of the way to access bolt. 5 Remove the 3 bolts that hold the electrical box in place (Fig. B). 6 Slide the plastic box out from the frame. 7 Route the stock connector through the box and into the small opening in the frame (Fig. C). Make sure to clean both surfaces with the alcohol swab first. Use the supplied velcro to attach the Power Commander. 11 Bolt the box back into place. 12 Reinstall the seat. Fig. D Fig.

Make sure they are situated away from the rear exhaust pipe. Make sure to clean both surfaces with the alcohol swab before attaching. Situate the PCIII so the USB and expansion ports point to the rear of the bike. Perimeter sensor – A miniature multi stage microwave sensor that detects motion in mass around the motorcycle, and uniquely protects its parts and accessories. Detects any attempt to tamper with saddlebags, luggage or accessories. • Ignition disable and anti-hijack kit – Allows remote disabling of the motorcycle’s electrical system, should someone force you off your bike. Remove the main seat. 2) Open the passenger seat hatch. 3) Remove the fuel tank mounting bolts. NOTE: The fuel tank does not need to be removed in order to install the PCII. If you choose to remove the fuel tank to aid in the installa- tion, then all fuel must be drained prior to disconnecting the fuel lines. 4) Locate the main injector harness connector. It is on the right side of the chassis near the fuel hose fitting on the throttle bodies. 5) Disconnect the injector harness connector. 6) Plug the male connector from the PCIIIr into the female connectorm on the main harness (Fig. A). 7) Plug the female connector from the PCIIIr into the male connector from the stock injector harness (Fig. B). 8) Locate the small, red, 2 pin connector (Fig. C) from the crank position sensor. Match the corresponding connectors from the PCIIIr, in-line of the stock wiring harness (Fig. D). 9)Route the harness from the PCIIIr under the fuel tank towards the tail section. 10) Reinstall the fuel tank, make sure not to pinch the PCIIIr harness. 11) Attach the ground wire from the PCIIr to the negative terminal of the battery. (Fig. E) 12) Route the PCIIIr and wiring under the rear seat subframe. Attach to inner fender below passenger seat using supplied velcro (Fig. F). 13) Reinstall the main seat

INSTALLATION 1. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions given to disarm the security system and remove the left- side cover. It is covered by a dust cap. Pull the dust cap from the connector, and feed the connector downward and out from behind the shield. 6. Select the correct siren harness (3) for this model year vehicle from the kit. Route the three-pin connector (1) of the siren harness from the bottom of the motorcycle, between the primary cover and frame tube. Plug the connector into the siren harness connector (2) on the vehicle main harness. 7. Secure the connectors to the diagnostic harness using a cable strap from the kit. INSTALLATION To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 1. Remove main fuse. Refer to service manual for location. 2. Remove seat using service manual instructions. 3. Remove rear tail light using service manual instructions. 4. Remove rear turn signals using service manual instruc- tions. 5. See Figure 1. Clip the cable strap (1) to free the rear harness from the chassis seat pan. 6. Remove the two rear fender support cover screws (1) and remove covers (2) and fender mounting -J04721 bracket (4). Repeat for opposite side and carefully remo ve fender and place it on a non-scratch surface. 8. See Figure 3. Clip and remove two cable straps (1). Pull wire harness three inches towards the license plate bracket. 9. Remove flange nuts (2) from both sides of license/tail light bracket stud plates (3) and remove bracket. Install new license/tail light bracket using stud plates and flange nuts previously removed. Tighten nuts to 5-6 ft-lbs (6.8-8.1 Nm) . 11. See Figure 2. Install rear fender by installing two screws (1) on each side through the fender support covers (2), frame rails (3) and into the fender mounting brackets (4). Tighten to 12-18 ft-lbs (16.3-24.4 Nm) 12. See Figure 1. Connect rear harness connector to 8-place connector on main harness. 13. Use a large cable tie strap from kit to secure the rear harness to seat pan. 14. Install rear turn signal lights using service manual instructions. 15. Verify that there is no excess wire harness near the stud plate then secure the harness with a large cable strap where the straps were previously removed. 16. See Figure 4. Secure the turn signal harness (3) to the stud plate (1) using small cable strap (2) and route the turn signal wire through the tail light bracket clip (4) as shown.

INSTALLATION To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 1. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the battery cables, negative cable first. 2. See Figure 1. Locate the rear wiring harness coming out of the rear fender in the area underneath the seat. Disconnect the rear fender lighting wiring connector (1) from the main harness connector (2). 3. Obtain the turn signal module from the kit, and mate the module connectors to the male and female rear fender wiring harness connections. Snap into place. NOTE Due to variations between models, there is no single best location to secure the module. When deciding on a location for securing the module, make sure that the connectors and module will not be bound, and that the wiring will not be pinched when the seat is re-installed. Also, be certain to maintain clearance between the wiring harness and the rear wheel underneath the fender. 4. Using cable straps from the kit, secure the module, connector and wiring in the area underneath seat. 1997-1999 FLHR and FLHRCI models: Go to Step 5. All other models: Proceed to Step 6.

Locate the oil pressure sending unit at the front right side of the crankcase and pull wire socket from terminal of the oil pressure sending unit. 4. Carefully draw the conduit and the pin side of mini-Deutsch connector forward and then up between the rear brake master cylinder reservoir and the frame downtube to area of the rear brake pedal. 5. Pull the oil sending unit wire through conduit and remove wire. Note the routing of the wire. 8. See Figure 9. Route the jumper (6) pins through the conduit from the kit in the same direction as the original wire noted in Step 7. Use cable straps to secure to the wire bundle. 9. See Figure 5. Locate pin chambers #1 and #2 on pin side of connector. Insert brown/green jumper pin into chamber #2 and feed until it clicks into place. Verify that pin will not back out of the chamber by giving a slight tug on the wire to confirm that it is locked

INSTALLATION 1. Remove all contents from Tour-Pak®. 2. For easier installation, remove Tour-Pak rack, if installed, by removing cap screw, washers and mounting pads. 3. See Figure 1. Remove rubber plug from bottom rear rail on left side of rack. 4. See Figure 2. Use line wire feeder in kit to thread through left rear rack foot and out through the back opening of rail. 5. Attach light harness wires to line wire feeder loop. 6. Carefully pull line wire feeder and light harness wires through rack mounting foot. 7. See Figure 5 and Table 1. Apply foam pads (5) to top surface of light. 8. Secure light (1) to rack with socket head screws (4) and washers (6). 1 is05242 1. Plug Figure 1. Left Side Rack Plug 1 is05244 1. Line wire feeder Figure 2. Thread Wires Through Rack 9. Position rack/light assembly to Tour-Pak lid and route wires through lid, washer and hollow mounting bolt. 10. Attach rack/light assembly to Tour-Pak using instructions and hardware provided with rack except for use of hollow bolt from Step 9. 11. Remove Tour-Pak liner. 12. Thread wires through black vinyl conduit. 13. Ultra Classic models: Follow Steps 14 through 2114. Locate and disconnect three pin AMP connector for Tour- Pak lights. 15. See Figure 3. Attach the Y-harness (2) to the three pin male connector (1) of Tour-Pak harness. 16. Route light wires from back of Tour-Pak along left side to front. Secure conduit with adhesive clips provided in kit. 17. Trim length of light wires and conduit to reach Y-harness. 18. Refer to the Service Manual electrical appendix to install terminal pins (8) to rack light wires and install terminals to three pin housing (7) as follows: a. #1 cavity = blue lead b. #2 cavity = red with yellow lead c. #3 cavity = black lead 19. Connect rack light to remaining Y-harness connector. 20. Replace Tour-Pak liner. 21. Check operation of Tour-Pak tail and stop light functions before operating motorcycle. 22. Classic models: See Figure 4. If necessary, drill hole in lower left bottom of Tour-Pak and install grommet. Route rack light wires through grommet. 23. Refer to the Service Manual electrical appendix to install terminal receptacle (8) to rack light wires and install terminals to three pin receptacle housing (7) as follows: a. #1 cavity = blue lead b. #2 cavity = red with yellow lead c. #3 cavity = black lead NOTE To prevent corrosion, fill the cavities of the connectors with dielectric grease (included in kit) prior to making connections. As an additional precaution against moisture seepage into the Tour-Pak, apply silicone sealant (not included in kit) to the entrance of the light harness wire tunnel. See figure 2 for location reference. 24. Connect rack light to male connector of two connector wire harness (12) and connect to accessory connector under seat. 25. Replace Tour-Pak liner. 26. Check operation of Tour-Pak tail and stop light functions before operating motorcycle

SPEEDOMETER INSTALLATION The following procedure details the removal of the factory speedometer and installation of the digital speedometer on Softail models; however the process is similar for all other models: 1. Remove the nut and washer (item #4 in the accompanying exploded view) that secures the console (#5) to the fuel tank. 2. Lay a clean shop rag on the fuel tank and flip the console over to expose the underside of the console. 3. Separate the 12-pin harness connector (#2) from the speedometer. 4. Unscrew the rubber cover from the “trip” reset switch (#6) on t left side of the console. he 5. Remove the “trip” switch from the console. 6. Pry between the three tabs that hold the back clamp (#7) to the speedometer (#1). Remove the back clamp from the speedometer. 7. Remove the speedometer from the console. 8. Remove the gasket (#3) from the speedometer. 9. Installation is the reverse of removal. CHAPTER 3 SPEEDOMETER OPERATION When the motorcycle key switch is ON, the speedometer will enter “normal” mode. Pressing the MODE button will cycle through the following display options: Odometer (ODOM) displays the mileage since the speedometer was installed. Trip (TRIP) displays the mileage since the last time the “trip” button was pressed. Head Temp (H TEMP) displays the cylinder head temperature in degrees F. Battery V (BATT V) displays the battery voltage Fuel (FUEL) displays the fuel level in gallons. Miles Per Gallon (MPG) displays the fuel economy in miles per gallon. Range (RANGE) displays the calculated range (in miles) until the tank reaches its empty value. Horsepower (POWER) to perform the horsepower test, follow these steps
