Installing the Tips: 1. Use a long 3/16″ ball drive Allen wrench to remove the two hidden retaining screws. 2. Rotate the tip to the desired position and relocate the retaining screws and lock washers inside the tip. 3. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads and tighten to 8 ft./lbs. 4. Check the tip bolts after a brief test ride. Adjusting the Hooker Tuned-Flow® Muffler: 1. Loosen the socket head bolts located in the aluminum ring at the end of the muffler approximately 5 turns using a 3/16″ Allen wrench. Alternate back and forth between each bolt 1/2 turn at a time to keep from binding. 2. Using your fingers, pull the center barrel of the muffler approximately 1/8″ towards the back of the motorcycle and rotate to the desired setting. If warm, use a rag or gloves. 3. By rotating the exhaust barrel and aligning the notch in the barrel with the index marks in the aluminum ring, the power band can be adjusted. The “H” setting will bias the power towards High RPM Horsepower, while the “T” setting will provide more Low RPM Torque. The muffler is infinitely adjustable between these two settings

Don’t be deceived. The 1100 Magna is not just another Special. Writing off the V65 as simply another boulevard
parade float is like calling a 10 inch switchblade a pocket knife. It’s true, but misses the point entirely. The term
“Special” suggests highly styled motorcycles that go limp wristed when it’s time to perform. But the V65 is a urban
streetfighter through and through, a bike that can kick almost anything flat in a stoplight to stoplight brawl.
What makes this Special so special? In a word, the engine. If you talk horsepower, the Magna speaks your language. Its
horsepower translates directly into an immediate gut wrenching rush unmatched by any other production’. street
machine. To a man, the cycle staff raved about the engine. With its wonderfully potent and flexible powerplant, this big four is a strong and willing worker that hums along happily at 1500 rpm or sings fortissimo at the 10,000 rpm redline. The best part of the V65 is a mid range punch that would do justice to Larry Holmes. Whack the throttle open at 5000 rpm in first gear and the front wheel claws for the sky whilemthe Magna catapults forward. These antics are interesting enough when you’re mounted onman open class motocrosser but when a 589 pound motorcyclemwith a wheelbase of nearly 63 inches takes off like a carriermbased F-14, it gets your full attention.Honda built the V65 engine with technology carried overnfrom the V45, but the big Magna has all new hardware,. it shares no parts with the 750s. Though the designs are virtually identical, everything has been scaled to 1100cc specs. The V65 benefits from Honda’s extremely compact Vee engine design; at 17.4 inches, the 1100′s engine is barely an inch wider than the narrow 750 V four. The Magna’s 90 degree Vee angla sets the two front cylinders low and nearly horizontal, while the rear cylinders stand almost vertical. This right angle configuration produces perfect primarybalance, and a short stroke limits secondary imbalances.

The dawn of the internal combustion engine gave birth to motorsport, and in turn gave birth to enthusiasts, and the gearheads who tinkered with engines squeezing those last final ounces of power out of their machines in an effort to be the fastest on the block. Along with the gearheads came the inventors, promising a quick fix for those less technically inclined. Even in today’s modern world where specifically engineered computer controlled digital componentry dictates the operation of our everyday lives, enthusiasts still seek out that magic box, gadget or pill that will unleash hidden horsepower held back by a perpetual X-Files like government conspiracy. We’ve all seen the likes of it, and certainly the Internet has played (more often than not) into the hands of modern-day Snake Oil salesman, working the forums through a network of communications like “pss-t.. my buddy knows a guy who used this thing and I swear I gained 20 hp”. The inevitable debate ensues, usually ending up with a lack of hard data and the marketers throwing “seat of the pants” stories out there in an effort to sell their product. Today’s story is a little different. The release of the ZX-14 and the birth of ZX- 14.com has possibly, for the first time, brought together a group of riders and technicians who not only have the technical skill, knowledge and background, but also the facilities, industry positioning and resources to once and for all determine if today’s Magic Box, the “TRE”, lives up to its claims. Sit back and read the Tale of the TRE… Things couldn’t have been going better for Ivan Rovinsky before the ZX-14 hit the streets. As a renowned tuner and developer of his TRE, the “Timing Retard Eliminator”, Ivan had shared many years of success marketing his TRE to customers on the Internet through model specific enthusiast forums. More often than not, no one could really put their finger on exactly WHAT the TRE did, though some had their suspicions. Many riders couldn’t deny that the TRE did something, but what it did, no one was exactly sure. This left the TRE and Ivan in a sort of Internet “grey area”, him and his product being sent off into the annals of myth and folklore. Perhaps he HAD invented the Magic Box? No one was sure, but at the same time no one could state otherwise. Advertising on a few sites, but covertly marketing on others brought some heat and unwanted attention to Ivan, mostly for his unpaid advertising tactics. Two Worlds Collide When the ZX-14 community got wind that their bikes had been neutered by KHI for low end performance, readers immediately went to work to try to solve the problem, and so begins the undoing of the Ivan myth, and finally some resolution to explain exactly what happens and why. The timing couldn’t have been worse for Ivan, as he stepped into the forum of online ZX-14 chat. He had expected the same age-old response to his product; mystified acceptance . He had been down this road before, so as a seasoned veteran of underground marketing, certainly the ZX-14 would be no different…. but this time things would be different. Cam Milled Side Reliefs The VENOLIA special profile is designed to remove excess weight without sacrificing reliability. It is one of the most critical operations in piston manufacturing. The milling cutter follows the contours of the master and works in much the same way as a cam grinder. Note: Cam milled reliefs are standard on some types of pistons. Nitrous Oxide When ordering pistons for use with nitrous oxide, please make note on the order form or inform your VENOLIA representative. Please specify the approximate amount of horsepower you plan on adding with the nitrous. Due to extreme demands on piston integrity by the increased cylinder pressure and temperature, VENOLIA will use a slightly different design criteria to insure maximum piston durability under these conditions. Bore Size The skirts on VENOLIA pistons are ground to fit the bore size. When ordering pistons, specify the exact bore size on the engine block. When boring the cylinders oversize, it is advisable to use standard overbore sizes. The standard overbore sizes are .020˝, .030˝, .040˝ and .060˝. Valve Clearance The lift of the cam does not determine the amount of clearance required in the valve pocket, the amount of overlap does. Give us the valve lift at overlap at T.D.C. and plus and minus degrees from T.D.C

2002 Legend engines have the carburetor air vent hose connected between the 2 way valve and the canister, with a 108 main jet in the carburetor. The 2003 Legend engines have the air vent connected as shown in this diagram and the main jet increased to 120 to compensate for the reduced bowl pressure. All 2003, and subsequent Legend and Chetak engines, will have this hookup as shown with 120 size main jets. Warning: Seemingly small changes can make a big difference in altering the fuel/air ratio. Disconnect hoses or make changes at your peril. There is no horsepower to be gained by disconnecting this passive emission control system

The following procedures should be followed in the order they are listed to avoid extra work. The installation should take 8-10 hours. The tools you will need are standard hand tools. Included in the kit are all necessary drills and taps needed for the installation. Footnotes are provided to help with additional problems you might encounter. *Custom Performance has designed this turbocharger kit to provide usable, dependable horsepower for many trouble free miles. It was intended to make 8 lbs of boost on 91 or higher octane fuel. At this level the bike should make @ 160 horsepower. The MAP included on the CD and website is for this level of performance. If the customer chooses to increase the boost level, the fuel system will have to be remapped and other modifications may be needed to supply enough fuel for higher levels of performance. Also engine modifications may be needed to support higher levels of horsepower. Custom Performance does not recommend raising boost levels beyond the kit-preset levels unless you make the proper modifications. Expensive engine damage may result if these warning are not observed. With that said lets get started. *There are color pictures of the various steps and extra pictures for reference. Look them over as they will help show what each step will look like. There is a fuel and ignition MAP for the Harley race tuner that will be loaded after the installation but before you start the bike. The map is for 8 lbs of boost, which is what we recommend. If you increase boost level above the kit settings, the bike will need to be remapped to insure the engine doesn’t run dangerously lean, resulting in engine damage.

Kawasaki V-Force 700 Snorkel REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Remove plastic from around air filter housing. Remove clamp attaching stock intake (snorkel) from air box. Loosen upper radiator hose clamp. Rotate it so the drive is on the opposite side of the new snorkel and retighten it. Loosen metal support for front plastic. Have a friend gently pull outward and carefully install the new snorkel. Position snorkel so it does not interfere with any cables or steering stem. Move handle bars back and forth. Check for clearance around new snorkel. Make sure all wires, cables and steering stem do not come into contact with the snorkel. Adjust as necessary. Tighten clamp at the air box. Reinstall plastic in opposite order of removal. At your own risk, you can cut slices in the black plastic hood on front of the quad to force the maximum amount of cold fresh air and produce additional horsepower. Jetting will vary from quad to quad and with the altitude
