Secure motorcycle to a bike lift and raise the motorcycle. Rear wheel should remain barely resting on the ground. 2. See diagram on page 2 for references made in parentheses, for example (#5). 3. Remove the nut from the rear suspension bolt (#5) at the bottom of the shock (#7). You may need to remove your exhaust and rear horn to access the nut and bolt. 4. Remove this suspension bolt (#5) from the non-exhaust side of the bike. You may need to raise or lower the bike to ease the tension on the bolt in order for it to come out. 5. Next remove the nut (#4) and bolt connecting the relay arm (#3) to the swingarm. From here remove the entire shock assembly and relay arm from the bike. For ease of re-installing the relay arm (Step 8) and shock be sure to take precautions that in removing the assembly, you can put it back the same way you took it off. Flipping of the relay arm can cause serious damage to the lowering kit and surrounding components. 6. Remove the two suspension arms from the relay arm(#3) and shock(#7). Compare stock arm to length of lowering arm you are about to install. Make sure the length of the lowering arm matches the link of the stock arm. To set how much you want to lower the bike, lengthen the lowering arms. Every 1/4″ longer than stock is approximately 1″ of drop. Do not lower the bike more than 2″ for safety reasons. To adjust, unscrew the large hex shaft from the threaded rods. Make sure to adjust length equally on both shafts. Be sure to tighten all jam nuts once desired lowering position is set. 7. Re-assemble the lowering arms to the top of the shock (#7) using the supplied collar, nut, and bolt. The stock collar (#6), the one in the eyelet at the top of the shock (#7), will need to be removed as it is too long. (This is because the heims are thicker than the stock arms) Do not tighten the nut, or re-install into the frame yet. 8. Re-install the relay arm (#3) to the swingarm. REMOVAL To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 1. Disconnect battery cables, negative (-) cable first or remove the main fuse following the instructions in the service manual. NOTE When performing cable disassembly procedures, make careful notes as to the existing cable routing. Pay special attention to existing cable strap locations before removing so new straps can be installed in the same locations. Do not remove or install the master cylinder assembly without first positioning a 5/32-inch (4 mm) thick insert between the brake lever and lever bracket. Removing or installing the master cylinder assembly without the insert in place may result in damage to the rubber boot and plunger on the front stoplight switch. (00324a) 2. See Figure 1. Remove the right upper and lower switch housing screws. 5. Loosen the upper screw securing the handlebar clamp to the master cylinder housing. Remove the lower clamp screw and flat washer. NOTE If possible, leave the friction shoe in place. The friction shoe is a loose-fit and may fall out or become dislodged if the lower switch housing is turned upside down or shaken. 6. See Figure 3. For best results, use a rocking motion while pulling. Remove cables with retaining rings from switch housing. Apply a drop of light oil on the retaining ring, if necessary, to help in removal. NOTE If installing different handlebars, measure the change in distance that will be required from the end of the cable housing to the throttle grip. Compare this additional required length to the cables provided in the kit. If the cables are more than 2.0 inches (51 mm) longer or more than 1.0 inch (25 mm) shorter than the above measured distance, see a Harley-Davidson dealer for the correct cable length. Install proper length throttle cables. Incorrect cable length can adversely affect motorcycle operation, which could cause loss of control resulting in death or serious injury. (00396b) 8. Follow instructions in the applicable service manual and remove air cleaner and backplate.

PREPARE THE MOTORCYCLE 1. For models equipped with saddlebags: Remove the saddlebags following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 2. Remove the seat following the directions in the Owner’s Manual. For HDI Vehicles: Remove the left side foot control support, and jiffy stand sensor, jiffy stand and spring, shifter linkage, shift lever and footpeg following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. For all other models: Remove the left side foot control support, jiffy stand and spring, shifter linkage, shift lever and footpeg following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. NOTE Two bearing sleeves will remain inside the footrest bracket. The extended controls bracket from the kit will include two sleeves pressed into the bore of the shift lever arm support. 2. Remove rod ends and jam nuts from the shifter rod. Save the rod ends and jam nuts for installation. Component Installation 1. See Figure 9. Select shifter mounting assembly (6), O- rings (5), nylon washer (4) and the shift rod (1) from the kit. 2. Install the shift arm and new O-rings in the bracket. 3. Apply LOCTITE 243 Threadlocker and Sealant to the three mounting screws and mount the shifter bracket with shift arm to the frame. Tighten the mounting screws to 25-30 ft-lbs (33.9-40.7 Nm)

Wheel Alignment Wheel alignment is critical for proper tire wear and handling. With MiniTrike installed measure A and B . Loosen axle plates and align wheel so A and B are equal to within 1/16th of an inch. Tighten axle bolts and torque to 45 pounds. Repeat for C and D . It may be necessary to shim axle plates for proper alignment. NOTE : The measurement of A and B may not be the same as C and D. This is normal and presents no difficulty. Wheel Height / Traction Adjuster The wheel height/traction adjuster (right and left side) allows you to selectively adjust the position of your trike wheels in order to customize ride, handling, level, and traction characteristics. Your trike is shipped with the adjuster preset to an optimum position for your model of motorcycle however you can make whatever adjustments necessary to customize to your bike and personal preference. Shortening the adjuster arm raises the trike wheels and places more of the weight of your motorcycle on the motorcycle wheel. This increases motorcycle traction and gives a generally softer ride. 1) Loosen jam nuts 2) Shorten adjuster arm by turning adjuster nut A toward bolt C desired amount. 3) Turn adjuster nut B until it tightens against adjuster bracket and adjuster nut A 4) Tighten nuts A and B and jam nuts Lengthening the adjuster arm lowers the trike wheels and places more of the weight of your motorcycle on the trike wheels. This gives a firmer ride and increases handling/cornering. 1) Loosen jam nuts 2) Lengthen adjuster arm by turning adjuster nut B toward bolt D desired amount. 3) Turn adjuster nut A until it tightens against adjuster bracket and adjuster nut B 4) Tighten nuts A and B and jam nuts

1. Take notice of the position of the shift peg positions relative to the floorboard or foot-peg. You will be adjusting it back to these locations upon installation of the extended linkage. 2. Loosen the shifter rod jam nuts and remove the OEM shift linkage. 3. Loosen the floorboard/foot-peg assembly by removing the mounting bolts (14mm wrench) 4. Install the Extension Bracket using the OEM bolts and torque to 46 ft. lbs. Figure 1 shows how to orient the bracket relative to the front of the motorcycle. 5. Mount the floorboard/foot-peg assembly to the Extension Bracket using the SS hardware provided and torque to 46 ft. lbs. It is always a good idea to apply thread-locking compound such as lock- tite to ensure that the hardware does not vibrate loose while riding. 6. Remove the jam nuts from the OEM shift linkage and thread them gently on to the new shift linkage. 7. Install the new shift linkage by aligning the control swivel and the shifter swivel and turning the linkage. Be careful not to cross thread the linkage. The linkage will thread into both swivels simultaneously. Adjust to the desired position and tighten the jam nuts that you removed from the OEM linkage. Do not over-tighten or damage will occur to the threads. Right Side Installation: 1. Take notice of the Brake pedal position relative to the floorboard/foot-peg before removal, as it will need to be readjusted upon installation of the kit. 2. Remove the cotter pin from the brake linkage and remove the clevis pin. The brake linkage will now be separate from the brake pedal assembly. Do not discard anything. 3. Loosen the floorboard/foot-peg assembly by removing the mounting bolts (14mm wrench) 4. Install the Extension Bracket using the OEM bolts and torque to 46 ft. lbs. Figure 1 shows how to orient the bracket relative to the front of the motorcycle. 5. Mount the floorboard/foot-peg assembly to the Extension Bracket using the SS hardware provided and torque to 46 ft. lbs. It is always a good idea to apply thread-locking compound such as lock- tite to ensure that the hardware does not vibrate loose while riding. 6. Loosen the jam nut from the brake linkage and remove the linkage bracket. 7. Assemble the threaded brake linkage extension to the coupling nut and tighten using one of the provided jam nuts. Don’t forget the thread locking compound if your using it. 8. Thread the coupling onto the brake cylinder linkage and install the other end of the assembly into the brake pedal end. Tighten the jam nuts. You should be able to adjust the linkage for proper brake pedal location before tightening the jam nuts. 9. Readjust the brake light switch and your ready to roll
